No problem Varrian, but remember, Tippo Dakar may designate different formatting, or none at all. It isn't, after all, my game, it's Tippo Dakar's.

As for the story behind the scarring, that stemmed from the low Charisma score. I had a DM once that wanted any exceptionally high or low stats explained. It kind of stuck with me.

I am excited about Talberon though, it is the first time I have really got to play a non-maxed character, in the sense of filling a role. Since all the key party roles were filled, it allowed me to be a tad unconventional. Now I can see if the rules facilitate how I intend to portray him.

Can't wait for Monday!

Best,
The Bane

Ive updated my background stuff quite a bit I think it sounds loads better!!! I was trying to keep up with how good everyone elses is!!!

THA

Hey Belethor, I'm not trying to tell you what to do or anything, build your character however you want, but I was thinking that given your character is a cleric of battle god, and you will probably be in melee fairly often (especially at low levels), it would make more sense to use your 14 for Strength. I would consider moving your 11 to your Con, 14 to Strength, and 13 to Cha (assuming you wanted a high Cha to fill some sort of leadership type roll).

If it were me though, I'd just swap the Cha and Str.

I was actually debating doing this but wasn't sure just because there are a couple characters with high strength namely you and Gozer im gunna have a think on it, I fancied having a higher charisma just because I feel like a cleric should have that higher. However I have debated changing my God to Desna so high charisma would make more sense there I believe.

I think im happy the way it is at the minute but thankyou for the advice greatly appreciated.

Edit: Il probably switch my con and strength to give strength the 13 but I still want a higher charisma I just have that feel for the character if you know what I mean.

The main reason I suggested it is because, initially your spell arsenal is fairly limited, so once you cast a spell or two you are likely going to resort to some melee, especially if you stay with Gorum as your god. Moving your strength to 14 lets you do that with at least some competency, and having a 13 charisma is still decent if you went that route.

Of course if you do go with Desna as your god than it might make more sense to just leave things as is.

You certainly wouldn't be tripping over my toes by having a strength of 14, and in combat the rest of the party will likely look like chumps compared Gozer (at least in terms of DPR), so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't matter a bit to him if you had a Str of 14.

Changed STR to a 13 and CON to 10 and it should still all check out with the numbers.
I think im gunna leave the changes like that I understand what you mean with the Melee but I wanted my character to have negelected training his body to much just because thats the image I had in my head of him, I should be fine if we fight undead :P plus I get 2 more channel energy's which means more healing for the party!!! Again thanks for the advice.

No, if you've run it through Hero Lab I trust that you haven't missed anything.

Thought you mentioned putting all our characters into Hero Lab for tracking and figured if I sent you the one I have of Talberon, that would be one less character you had to make in your Hero Lab... Just trying to save you some time if you are planning on putting all our characters in it.

Best,

Truthfully Gozer would be more impressed with your higher strength than your high charisma or spell casting ability seeing his mistrust of it. He would rather have a dependable fighter along side of him than a cowardly spell caster behind. His views on Clerics are slightly different. He sees their function as needed in their own way, he may still be nervous around healers but most of the time he has found that they or at least the ones he knows can also handle themselves in battle. Just my two cents from Gozer lol. :-)

Also made a few more slight adjustments to my demeanor and appearance.
Figured out the spoiler affect format as well!

Also, Tippo is the +1HP or +1 Skill point for favored class included in the BB? That is why my HP is 15.

I just downloaded Hero Lab it's awesome!!! I will definetly be telling my other parties to use it :D

You gotta love that they give you the full PFBB for free. If I ever move on to full blown PF Core, I will spend the duckets on the full version of Hero Lab Pathfinder Core. Smart sales gimmick I suppose.

Okay, is it Monday yet? First Monday I have looked forward to in some time...

Best,

Yeah I think it would be deffo worth a look at the full version.

haha I know im quite excited aswell!! Too bad I have exams on Tuesday and Thursday tho.

I have never been in a pbp. Are there any special rule on when, how many times, how often, etc... to post? How in depth do the posts need to be and anything else? Thanks for any assistance.

The Bane's answer to this question pretty much covered it. I've been looking through some of the established games and the most common conventions are:

"This is a direct quote from your character" Anything that is bolded is assumed to be audible to those within earshot and spoken in the Common Tongue. If you mean the words to be spoken more loudly, you'll have to say so ("He shouted","She called"); I'll also assume ALL CAPS is shouted speech, "I SAID, THIS IS A DIRECT QUOTE!". Whispered speech works the same way, except you can italicize it "I heard you the first time, jerk."

If you want your character to say something in a language other than Common, please do it this way:

Agota turned to the rogue, "{elven: I don't trust the king.}"

One of the cool things about play-by-post is being able to get into the characters' heads in ways we don't at a game table. So share your character's thoughts, as The Bane indicated, with italics and without quotes:

[bigger]Agota smiled at the king (You lousy baby-killing bastard) before bowing low and leaving the throne room.

Unless the king is reading Agota's thoughts or does a sense motive check, he won't know her respect for him is feigned.

Use the ooc tag (Out Of Character) to write things that you as a player are saying, not your character:

We're doooooooomed!

And you can use the ooc tag to explain mechanically what your character is doing:

Sensing the goblin was weakening, Agota thought I'm tired of this battle. With all her might she swung her mace at his head. Using Power Attack

I'm not too fussy about the tense you use, but I would like you to post in third person. I'm pretty sure I'll find first-person is too confusing.

So this is okay:

Agota sneered at the cowering 'king'. "The time for mercy has passed." She swung her mace again.

As is this:

Agota sneers at the cowering 'king'. "The time for mercy has passed." She swings her mace again.

But not this:

I sneered at the cowering 'king'. "The time for mercy has passed." I swung my mace again.

@DM

Do you have any objection to something like the following:

Agota turned to the Rogue and whispered,

In Elven:
"I don't trust the King."

Or do you have spoilers reserved for some other DM function?

Thanks for clarifying what you want to see as far as formatting. I don't want to appear nit-picky with my above question, I just want to head off any future confusion that has happened, for me personally, in the past. The written word can baffle me at times, due to a mild case of dyslexia, so I tend to squirrel up some posts as I read and write them.

Best,
The Bane

Please go easy on us newbies.

For instance, I'll have to look up the term Power Attack when I get home.

The biggest difference between PFR and 1E seems to be combat mechanics.

So, there's going to be a lot of lingo that I don't know yet ... but that's why I want to do this.

Thanks,
Keith

Power Attack is a Fighter Feat that takes a -1 to hit penalty in exchange for a +2 damage bonus (+3 if it is a two-handed weapon) until your next action.

Hope that helps.

That clarifies it perfectly. Thanks.

This reminds me of the early days learning 1E.
The game is like a foreign language that I have to decipher :)

Thanks for the formatting clarifications. As Keith pointed out please go easy on us with posting etiquette and such and please let me know if I do something out of turn or out of place. Thanks! ;-)

FYI, your site is one of many that are blocked here at my office. If I need to read more for our game I'll be glad to at lunch or during the evenings.

Thanks,

Joba's link is connected to his character sheet.

Yeah, the link just has all the stuff I posted but also includes the CRB stuff(CMB, CMD, Skills ect.) and Finbat's stats. Nothing that you really need to know(Not that you need to know my character stats anyway).

Is there a good resource for Dwarf history?

The Pathfinder wiki does not seem to cover how the Dwarves fared during the the storms & earthquakes that ravaged the lands following Aroden's "death".

Also, are we in the Current Year, 4712 AR?

I would say your best bet would by The Inner Sea World Guide. It doesn't get too far into what happened after Aroden's death with the dwarves but in does have a decent history and I have only really looked under the race section. There may be more in the book.Plus its a good way to support Paizo!

I have the Inner Sea Guide, but it's at home.

Paizo does a great job generating high-quality stuff with remarkable in-setting consistency. They must have one heck of an editorial staff. As a writer in real life, I'm envious!

The list now:

I haven't gone over all your characters thoroughly but they seem okay to start with now, so I've made the first post in the gameplay thread.

No, I hadn't thought of putting other languages in spoiler tags. That'll work as well. I just want something to clearly note when your character is using another language.

There's no favored class in BB, sorry.

Now that I think about it and skim the books, how do languages work in PFBB? I am assuming I speak Varisian and Common... Correct?
