I have a quick question that has just started niggling at me.
Does a creature that the party is fighting die when it reaches 0 HP or less. OR does it die in the same way that a PC would, i.e. when hit points reach the negative constitution.
Hope the question makes sense. I don't think it matters either way but just wondered.
Typically dead at zero in my world unless it a BBEG monster and for some reason I think he might get away to fight another day. But 99%, yep dead at zero.

I read through the BB and parts of the CRB, and -- oddly enough -- did not find this question addressed explicitly.
In D&D and AD&D monster hp = 0 = dead.
This Paizo thread addresses the question in some detail:

Can we see what is happening with Gozer from where we are with the Goblin?
"Feel free to criticize as much as you need to. Is there anything that you think could be improved?"
More maps. It's funny, I don't use maps much in person playing BECMI, or the like, but with the delay of this media (PbP) I just can't seem to keep up with who is where.
But, lovin' it thus far. PFBB is starting to be my go-to rules set at the moment.

I think I have posted this on the other games I am in, but I am working an average of 12.5 hrs a day at the moment and am scheduled for it until the 22nd. So please take that into consideration. I should be back on track following that, at least until the next rotation comes along.

Ugh ... that is brutal.
Do you want Talberon to be an NPC for a while?

I would prefer to stay in the hunt, but don't allow me to slow it down either. Covering a post or two for me if I do (slow it down) is cool, I am just enjoying this too much to not force myself to post when I can. Even at the loss of sleep, like now. Just throwing my personal life out there, as I can't complain. After all, I do have a job in this current wicked economy, so....
Best,

It really is fun.
And being employed is good ... or a necessary evil :-)
This is the first time I've played buy forum, but I'd assume that our DM can make the basic rolls for you if you happen to be unavailable, and then you can catch back up "in character" when you have the chance.

I have rolled initiative for everyone and a few perception rolls to speed things up. Everyone cool with this? :)
Also their are two different battles so this could potentially get confusing.
Trapper is at the house fighting a Goblin Dog with Dominique.
Whereas everyone else is in the cornfield.
If anyone gets confused just say and we can sort it out.
I have also changed initiative stuff so that everyone gets separate rolls. So just take your actions in any order till we reach the next monster or NPC :D

Would you mind making links obvious somehow, like all caps, or a spoiler that says "LINK"?
That'd help me a lot. I work in a basement office (long story) and they have to block personal storage sites, which includes things like photobucket and google docs.
But what i can do is go upstairs, access the forum on my phone or iPad, and email the map to myself. The trouble is that it's hard to identify links embedded with the rest of the text when reading from my phone.
Thanks,
Keith

@ GM -- I don't mind any type of adventure, but as I've collected PFR books, I've noticed that there are not as many dungeons as the good ole days.
But this is a damn good game system, and we've got a great campaign going.
@Joba -- I think you'll be very pleased with BB.
Paizo clearly put a lot of thought into putting it together.

Hmm ... I've been making inconsistent attack rolls for Trapper.
According to "Hero's Handbook" ppg 56-57 ...
Melee = 1d20 + attack bonus + STR mod + other modifiers.
(I've been forgetting to use STR mod.)
Likewise ...
Ranged Attack = 1d20 + attack bonus + DEX mod + other modifiers.
(I've been forgetting to use the DEX mod.)
I think that since I knew my "attack bonus" was zero, then I did not need to get to use STR or DEX mods, respectively.
I'll take my Hero's Handbook and Game Master's Guide with me to work from now on so that I can look this stuff up before I have Trapper take actions.

The map and minis are cool, and I like the character sheets too. I also like the d4 and d100 as mine aren't like that. I play online, so the map and minis won't get much use, but I started(tabletop RPGs) with Pathfinder(using SRD and pdfs), so I bought it for that reason.
Trapper, Dungeon Crawls can be cool for one adventure, but I get after running too much dungeon crawl. The ironic thing is that it's the only kinda I'm good at running! But the Pathfinder BB GMG has tips on running wilderness adventures, so I'll try running one.
P.H. Dungeon |
Pathfinder publishes a variety of adventure types, and different adventure paths and modules focus on different types of gaming.
For instance Rise of the Runelords features a fair amount of Dungeon Crawling, but King Maker doesn't.
Certain individual modules are designated as dungeon, wilderness or event based. If you want classic dungeon crawling there is still plenty to be found.
