Good luck, Liam.
(Your DM MichaelCullen is in my home group...it's a small world afterall).
I really am not into PvP stuff, I just created a backstory putting goblin in a negative light in his mind. I am hoping that things work out.
I am trying to portray Liam as brash and reckless, and often acts without thinking, something he needs to learn to control.
in any event. it is also good to meet you here online.
I am surprised that you even know me, or rather of me, wonder if he talks about my character among your home group.

Pathfinder gamers in my area are very few. we have a small group of 1e and 2e players. and several 3.5 groups (but those are High school kids and I don't think it would be appropriate for me to join them.)
anyway. lets see how this pans out, and if we both get in, we may end up the best of friends. unless I find the elf girl that rescued me from a goblin raid party.

Hiya,
djdust's submission for approval. I went through the rogue archetypes and found that the ones that fit the character concept sacrificed key class features for things circumstantial at best. I plan on fleshing her out instead through the rogue talents and feats. Thank you!
The members of her juvenile gang soon began setting each other up on dares for more and more valuable targets. It was only a matter of time before one if them was caught, and lo and behold, Swen stumbled into a trap as she was breaking into a renowned elven silversmith's shop in Absalom.
Merely a child, Swen was thrown behind bars. Disgraced by her behavior, Swen's family quickly renounced her and left her on her own. She was cast out of her homeland, banned from returning to Shadow Absalom.
One of the sheriffs, on the verge of retirement and tired of watching youths slip away into a life of crime, took pity on her and took her in. He enrolled her in a reform school, where Swen was repeatedly bullied for her outsider appearance. She soon came to hate the term fetchling, as it was used over and over to demean her, and began to refer to herself as Kayal.
By the time she finished her schooling, The Exchange was looking for ways to buy out her former family's business. They recruited her as an informant and tried to use her intel to strongarm the family. Their plan backfired, and Swen's reputation in Shadow Absalom was further tarnished. With nowhere else to go, she hired on to The Exchange as a low level go between, working odd jobs and receiving combat training where she could. Soon she was able to work as a mercenary escort for various trade caravans, and was able travel to varying locales throughout the Inner Sea region.
The Exchange keeps an keen eye on Druma, and soon took interest in the Silver Shields enterprise. They recruited Swen to work undercover, to infiltrate the organization and report back on their inner dealings. Swen eagerly took the mission, excited for adventure and the chance to prove herself. Contacts were made, documents forged, and quickly enough, Swen was on her way to Macridi to meet with Colewin Binderbook himself.
Swen is slender as most fetchlings, but also fit and wiry. Her skin is ashen grey. She has jet black hair which she colors with indigo dye and keeps in two long braids. She wears black leather armor over a white tunic and black trousers. Black knee high boots and a black cloak complete her outfit. Her eyes are an intense yellow-green. She cares little about the politics of her employer and is simply hungry for the thrill and challenge of adventure.

maybe. there's also the Shadow Walker archetype, but its not a fetchling racial archetype. it's kiiiiiinda tempting, but is it worth losing trap sense and uncanny dodge???
it also seems like it'd be great for a fetchling rogue who works solo (which Swen probably would prefer) but would hinder a group. However, lots of low-light and darkvision going on in this cast of characters.
I'm just too indecisive :/
I guess I can decide at lvl3 if it'd fit this character and this campaign.

The Zuul family have been travelling around the Lake Encartan area for many generations. When Sarkova fell and became the Worldwound many strange and unusual individuals from all over the continent came to help. This was when members of the Zuul family were first given a proper introduction to the faith of Saranrae.
Zardu always found the tales of Saranrae and the dog eared religious text his family had regarding her inspiring. Zardu was always physically strong but found his faith allowed him to call upon blessings from Saranrae. About two years ago he split from travelling with his family to he could help people and spread the word of Saranrae. His travels have not all been pleasant however, a few months back he was ambushed by hobgoblins and almost killed before being rescued by Colewin Binderbook. A few times since in thanks he has provided healing services for some of the Silver Shields.
Zardu talks to people about Saranrae and for those who are interested he provides them with wooden holy symbols and holy texts so they can potentially strengthen their faith and understanding of Saranrae. But this things are not free, so he’s had to start looking for ways to earn an income. He had skills the Silver Shields could use, could put the coin towards helping people and given that it was a Paladin who had saved his life choosing and handing out the missions he doubted there would be anything too objectionable with the missions. Perhaps with his presence some potentially redeemable foes who currently walk dark paths could be helped.

Ok, Im committing to the Shadow Walker archetype (eep!)
I missed the thing about background skills, so i'm going to add a rank in perform (song). Swen has taken to singing folksongs from her homeland of Shadow Absalom, whenever she thinks she's alone. The songs she sings are not unlike https://youtu.be/RkUf0217e2k. If this is discovered and encouraged, it may eventually lead to a dip into Bard a few levels down the road.
I'm really curious as to how this whole thing is going to function. You say 4-6 people, but there's a small village worth if recruits in the tavern. Will you be breaking us up into smaller teams to perform the various 'jobs'? Guess we're finding out soon...
Swen Xuo |
Could be fun, could be a headache for the gm to run, could be an opportunity for others to take turns GMing in the same campaign.
It makes sense though, in the context of the Silver Shields, different skills for different jobs/missions. One team to locate a contact in the Darklands who has information on the location of a list artifact, one team to explore the hidden temple where the artifact is located, one team to travel cross a haunted forest to deliver the artifact to the client, etc.

Visruþ |
@ DM The nines:
Hi! It are I, Xunal again.
I have more or less finished the profile for Visruþ. I've got a bio done.
Let me know if I should fix anything up.
Thanks!
Visruþ is the tiefling son of names Chelish slaves owned by an unhinged Chelish noblewoman, Vonæ. She continued her mother's obsession is to breed compliant and formidable Asmodean servants. Tieflings are the usual results, if any. Visruþ is one of the few results of Vonæ's experiments to survive past infancy.
Vonæ typically subjects her test subjects innumerable vial experiments. Most of which involved exposure to unspeakable substances made out of outsiders. Including daemons, demons, devils and div. Visruþ's own biological parents are doubtless long dead. Few of Vonæ's test subjects survive for long.
Vonæ was well pleased with Visruþ, and was certain that Visruþ would make excellent Hellknight material. Especially if she could breed more like him. However, as Visruþ matured, he became a profound disappointment to Vonæ. While he is tough, strong, nimble, resourceful, and has arcane talents, his mind is the antithesis of Hellknights: he is mercurial, impulsive, and unruly. While he does have a strong sense of loyalty, is limited to individuals, not organizations.
The past few years she forced Visruþ into forced labour, to break his will and make him compliant. Visruþ told Vonæ she had finally broken his will. His martial and arcane training began. Visruþ, had not been broken, however. He was only able to convince Vonæ otherwise because he told her what she wanted to hear.
After rigorous training, which he excelled in, Visruþ made clear his true intentions. While Vonæ was entertaining guests with the intention of showcasing Visruþ as Hellknight breeding material, Visruþ slipped away. And in the process, he set fire to Vonæ's lab. Specifically to destroy all the meticulous records of the experiments conducted by Vonæ and her mother before her. By time Vonæ realized what had happened, Visruþ was well away, on a stolen horse, heading straight for Andoran.
While the Andoren authorities were welcoming to Visruþ, and his information about Chelish spy networks, the people in Andoran were less than welcoming. While not maltreated, Visruþ did tire of Andoren mistrust and took to wandering. He eventually found his way to Colewin Binderbook. Despite vastly different mind-sets, or perhaps because of them, Colewin and Visruþ got along quite well. Visruþ is quite loyal to Colewin, simply because the Paladin treats him well.

i apologize in advance if this has already been asked, but are prestige classes allowed?
if I can make a last minute switch from perform(sing) to perform(dance) i can eventually qualify for the shadowdancer prestige class, which would really compliment this character concept AND I would get uncanny dodge back, win/win/win.
Swen Xuo |
I like the idea of her singing folk songs from the shadow plane though... it has more of an emotional feel to it which fits her life of exile. It is her goal to eventually be able to return to shadow absalom, and these songs are all she has to tie her back to her homeland.
So i'll keep perform(sing) as her background skill, and if I can take the prestige class, add in perform(dance) later on (assuming she lives to 5th-7th lvl)
thanks for letting me use this channel to think outloud :)
