The arrow fly true - and although the legs wave around, hits the carapace.
And the arrow shatters.

Faith trusts in the power of Zaine's musket and Áine's arrow.
Zaine drops to a knee, sights carefully along the musket, and fires. The snake, who had its head pulled up to watch you, doesn't move at the loud thunderclap of the firearm - and the heavy ammunition enters through the eye and less than seconds later the head is no more.
The huge body remains coiled above along the tree branch about 20-feet above where you would have walked.
You have a dead 600 lb. snake
Regardless of if you take care of the snake first or later, you do find the hill that was marked on Ishirou's map. The grass on the low hill is remarkably green and looking closely you see a layer of ash which fueled the verdant growth.
Other than that it looks like a completely unremarkable hill (you are able to point out the two spiky rocks off shore which the pirate captain used to mark the location of his treasure.

One morning, Sasha comes over with some fresh fish (which is nice again after snake, snake and more snake). Offering the smaller to Zaine and the slightly larger to Tulip. She smile, "When Áine and I were scouting, I found a perch that overlooked the a dimorphdon nest." She shifts a bit, "They had some eggs, and I want to see if they've hatched."
She holds up her hands in a small circle, orb shape, "Because little baby dimorphdon will be adorable to see." She nods, green eyes big.
The scouting party is able to get within sixty feet of the giant crab without being attacked. The legs flail threatening and the sounds get deeper, more intense.
The crab, however, is not magical when Faith checks.

"Let's get to the top of this hill and back down while it's light. See what we can see from up there."
If no one jumps ahead, Faith takes lead.
Getting up to the top of the hill is easy, the verdant grass knee high and your boots grey from the old ashes underneath. You have a beautiful view of the large mountain to the south (across another small bay). Its bare rock and mud sides are maroon red, mimicking dried blood.
At the base of the mountain, at the water line, you see (with the spyglass) a creature that looks to be a cross between a crab and a tick dart from a sea cave to grab a passing fish in it's pincer.
On the positive, this hill seems decently safe.
Returning with the snake
The anaconda is greeted with pleased surprise. It is the single largest protein source that you've found and once Áine takes what she is actively cooking, Jask starts to work at breaking down the meat to dry and preserve.
You also have a very nice, large snakeskin.
Aerys leans on a tree near faith, "That's your version of fishing?"
From the cave, horse but far more spunky than a few days ago, "There are places people pay for big anaconda."

Returning with the snake
As soon as the party returns to camp and the skin is prepared, Áine takes a portion of anaconda, sifts through her store of locally picked herbs, leaves, roots and berries and goes about putting together a decidedly out of the ordinary campside meal. She hums a tune as she works. The small feast seems to be coming alomg nicely as her tune remains happy and infectious throughout.

Ishirou helps Áine when requested, but the muscles of his jaw are tight when he has to deal with the once again vocal halfling.

Tulip chirps happily.
That night as you get ready to trek their the jungle in the darkness, you see Sasha quietly talking to Aerys as Ishirou gets together his gear and the shovels the group recovered from the Jenivere . Traveling through the thick jungle in the pitch blackness of the Shiv's night takes much more time, making the work that you did blazing a trail very useful.
You get back to the hill about an hour before sunrise.

The crab thrashes wildly, setting up a caterwaul to match its size.
Basically doing everything to emote 'I'm a big ass scary crab and you want to avoid me, else crabby doom shall fall on you.

Sunrise comes creeping over the horizon, letting you line you up the sun with the rocks to determine the right point to dig.
And you dig.
And dig.
Once you break through the tough root system of the grasses the ashy soil is easy. But it is hot, sweaty work.
Hours after you started, although at least you had the shovels from the Jenivere, you've excavated a 10-foot wide and 10-feet dip hole which reveals two things: the skeleton of a dwarf and a wooden platform carefully wedged into the rocks around the pit.
Faith Dagger |

"Maybe being a priest isn't such a sacrifice," Faith says, panting, after he's finished a turn at the shovels. "I don't have to dig holes for a living."
He wipes the sweat from his brow. His tattoo shines against the wet skin. "Which one of us was good at checking for traps and disarming them? All I'm good for is setting them off and surviving." He snorts. "So far."

She slips off her bag, "I have some of the smaller pieces of rope from the, so we can make the climb a little easier." She points up, about fiftten feet, "That lip is the only really tricky part."
She pauses, "I'm not a great climber either," she shrugs her shoulder, "not enough upper body strength."
That said, she points out the trees and roots that she's used before, so that its more a upwards scramble until the dreaded lip.

And although it is a near thing, Sasha manages to grab the lip, suspended in open air for a minute and pull herself over. A moment later a knotted rope slaps over the lip so that Zaine can follow.
This Crab Has Already Been Ate
Confused, "There aren't any fish in here, they'd stink up the joint."
There is silence after Zaine's offer and the crab house is still, after a moment you see a black shape emerge from the 'mouth' of the crab. He walks towards the group carefully, avian head checking out each of you in turn with jerky movements. "I don't fear the cannibals, they are superstitious and easy to fool, but they killed all my friends."
"You'd probably be safe for a while anyway though, they had new sacrifices move through here about a week," he ruffles his feathers and you get the feeling that week is his anytime kinda recently that wasn't yesterday, "ago."
He indicates back up the beach where you came from, "There are game trails back that way, the cannibals use them to travel the island."

Áine goes to work at the edge of one of the wood pieces, and when the entire plank (and the one next to it) suddenly breaks off to fall into the darkness below Áine barely manages to dodge back to grab onto the rocks at the edge of the pit.
You now have a 10' by 2' break in the plug. There is darkness below.

The remaining journey to the low-tide causeway blocking off the grey island is uneventful. While you are waiting for the tide to recede, you get a chance to look around. A chance to chat or to eat some of the very tasty snake jerky that Áine prepared.
Behind you, down the coast of the Shiv, you see another four shipwrecks decorating the rocks of the island. But on sea side of the grey island, you see what looks like a very old, but fully functional sailing ship - the sails move with the breeze.
On the bay side of the island, you see a pillar of rock jutting from the ocean, connected to the main island but thick grey rope.
Now that you are closer to the island, you can see that its coloration is due to a thick growth of various fungi. The fungus is odd, moving even when the wind is still, filament rising against gravity. When the breeze does turn to bring the smell of the island, it is a foul stank.

"No harpoon." Ishirou says sadly. He looks at the group, his eyes a little desperate, "How are we going to get past them? They must be the sailors who aided Captain Quellig in hiding his treasure."
Worried, "We aren't giving up on the treasure are we?"

Onward to Grey Island
"There's possibly a pirate out here, and there's a pirate ship," Zaine observes.
Pit
"We're not giving up. We just need some creative problem solving." Zaine frowns. "Did any of those wrecks have boat hooks? If you were going to fish for ghouls, you couldn't ask for anything better. We probably don't even the wood part, just the metal. There's enough trees around here to fashion some good poles."

Áine nearly squeals in delight at the sight of the ship. She seems decidedly less enthusiastic about traveling across a fungus ridden island however, especially one which moves of its own volition. "Damn. Knew I should have got that wand of Fireballs."
Pit
A big grin breaks across Faith’s face. ”We could fish for it.”
"I've got a fishing arrow. Only one though. It'll kind of depend on how deep the water is, and the thing may be smart enough to break it before we can draw him up." not to mention Pathfinder rules count an arrow as broken once it hits, so won't work on more than one
"Alternatively, we could dangle me as bait, try to draw them to the surface." she shudders, "if we can get at least Parts of them out of the water, I might be able to highlight them so we can track them after." a pause, "we'll only get one chance though... At least until tomorrow."
