"Mine if we snoop around a bit? We'll not get the water dirty. I'd hate to be bathing here tonight and suddenly have goblins launch a surprise attack." asks JJ.

Before we move on to the baths:

"The rest of you will have to fill me in about Jill."
"The rest of you don't like her, I can tell."
"But I assume there's more to than just being an over-priced tart."

Later, at the baths:

Juraan likewise hands over a silver piece.
"I'm with them." he says to Orak.
"You've not noticed anything out of the ordinary lately?"
"Like mindless vandalism or burgling?"

Giving the sorcerer a grim smile, Ryan replies "Let's just say when we first met her she and some friends of hers in the Last Laugh were beating Ruphus, a mentor of mine from the Church. so there is no love lost on my account concerning her."

Inside the Bathhouse

sense motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Observing the Bath house proprietor's lackluster responses, Ryan lays a silver on the table as well and steps away from the trio, appearing to investigate the decor of the room and cast Detect Magic trying to see if anything perhaps had ensorcelled the dwarf, hard as that tended to be.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

"I mind" says Orak interposing himself on the way not allowing Ryan to cast his spell "No weapons or sorcery in my business. I will have to ask you to leave if you are not here to have a bath"

"No burgling here. All is ok" finishes the dwarf.

Ryan or Sense motives DC 15:

The limited answers and restricted actions of the dwarf makes you think he is under some kind of enchantment influence.

Wow slamming amount of posts! For the record Maxim would have stayed outside - as Kikinnin walking in gang handed would just have the rats running to the shadows (so to speak).

Maxim stoically waits outside.

He shakes his head at Juraan and Marigold's threatrical interplay, then focuses when the tiny oracle mentions potential foulness afoot;

"Orak acting strange like you say..? Jil did reckon he could be getting influence of someone, somehow..."

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

"The goblins are not here" is all the response of the dwarf, impossible to reason with him at that level, while he keeps trying to push you out.

Kikinnin looks up and down the street for ratsign- droppings, grease stains on the lower parts of the building walls, dead rats... Anything he can glean to tuck away for a later time, when he gets a chance...

When Juraan comes back outside, Kikinnin hears about the touchiness of the one-eyed dwarf, then looks at Maxim. "You thinkin' he'd calm down if we joined them inside? Dwarf to dwarf?" The black-beard shrugs his shoulders, then encourages Juraan to lead them in, where Kikinnin then looks for Orak.

When he hears the resistance himself, Kikinnin recognizes the easy number they've got Orak, so he ignores the one-eye, and begins looking around. "If what you say is true, then we shouldn't come across any gobsign, either." He keeps his axe at the ready, assuming nothing is what it seems.

Iron Gods: Iron maps;

When Kikinnin pushes back in Juraan and Maxim and starts to force a search in the bathhouse Orak starts shouting aloud "Aaaaaaaaahhhhh"

Out at the street Marigold sees a couple of humans jumping to the ground from the rooftop. As they fall, they look at the halfling female and start running towards the bathhouse door. While running they draw rapiers and their shape start to change. Their backs curve, hair start to grow in their bodies, and a long tail appears while their faces enlarge to resemble those of rats.

Marigold enters the bathhouse raising the alarm at the time three more humanoids resembling two-ledged giant rats open doors at the far end of the bathhouse drawing rapiers. Orak draws a handaxe, his eyes looking out of place.

Oh, goody! The two following Marigold through the main doors are lined up
just perfect for my very first use of the Buring Hands spell.
AND Marigold is just outside the cone's area of effect.

Juraan looks at the two rat creatures that followed Marigold in the door.
He immediately casts a spell, causing a cone of flame to cover them,
with Marigold (just) safely out of the blast.

A cone of fire just appearing is odd enough, but this one is odder still.
This fire has tongues of shimmering black and purple, not red and orange.
Just a little theatrical fluff for the narrative.

Marigold's eyes widen in shock and surprise as what look like hooded men suddenly race towards her - only to turn into some sort of horrible ratmen monstrosity. With a shriek, she turns and flees into the bathhouse with them right on her heels.

"ઓહ દેવતાઓ! અમે આ માટે સજ્જ નથી!" she yelps as the group finds themselves cornered by creatures on all sides, one of which leaves a nasty wound in her leg.

Marigold's Round 1

Although she knows it's a long shot, there's little else that she can do. She ducks between two of the creatures and crouches down, attempting to call forth her magic to slow them down.

Although this axe almost cut one arm in half, the creature stands, shrieking in pain. The dwarf next attack is unsynchronised and lands on the ground.

Marigold ducks between the wererats avoiding the rapiers as they try to pierce her. A wave of colourful strings spring from her hands engulfing two of the creatures.

JJ moves around one of the wererats, hitting on it as they try to attack Kikinnin, effectively distracting it.

Unable to step anywhere, Maxim retreats into the shallow waters of the pool, his legs getting soaked to the waist. The dwarf fights for his powder not to get ruined by the water while he loads a silvery cartridge in his pistol.

Clarification:
Standard action instead of 5 feet step as you are entering into a bathing pool. A Swim check DC 10 allows you to move further (half-speed), otherwise you move at 1/4 speed (minimum 5 feet). You can keep your attack and damage rolls for this round if you wish. My fault, I should have clarified this before.

Ryan raises his holy symbol, a divine wave healing and protecting everybody.

Note:
I assume you select out the wererat hit by Kikinnin, but let me know if you prefer to select out a different one. Do the rats also gain the shield bonus or only allies?
