Ēoswulf watches the man in the water. awaiting his reply to Hinkle

GM Fuzzfoot |
The man in the water seems to ignore Hinkle's attempt to communicate.
Dunbar Brasstwister |
Dunbar will look at his companions and give the military hand-and-arm signal to move forward on-line. His crossbow carried at 'port-arms' (at the ready, but not threatening), the dwarf takes measured steps as the group approaches the lone figgure in the water.

Fillia Bloodstone |
Fillia doesn't understand what Dunbar's gesture means but she waits to see what the the others do.
Ēoswulf Gērmwynson |
Ēoswulf calmly draws closer to the man. He steps into the water, then stops. "Hail!" He says to the man.

Dunbar Brasstwister |
Dunbar grins ever so slightly, remembering he is no longer a Captain of the King's Axes, and awaits a reaction from the fellow in the pool.

GM Fuzzfoot |
The man in the pool continues to ignore you, until Ēoswulf enters the water. Then he turns slowly, and stares at you.
Hinkle Mikrinkleberry |
Hinkle moves closer and waves at the man, making sure not to reach for a weapon or do anything hostile. "Sorry, are we disrupting something? Or did you just not hear us."
Fillia Bloodstone |
Fillia observes the proceedings wondering if there's anything else of note.
GM Fuzzfoot |
The man, who appears to have gills in the sides of his neck, looks at Hinkle quite indifferently, and then nods briefly. He does not say anything, but just watches you.
You can see the gillman’s own folded robe on the shore is of a similar style and color to the one you found in the pit.
Also, remember that diplomacy skill can be used to change another's attitude toward you..
Fillia Bloodstone |
Taking 10 for Perception.
Fillia swiftly notes that the Gillmen, seeing that he has gills, has the same coat they found in the pit earlier.
"Say that coat looks familar....Isn't it the one we found earlier just like it?"
Dunbar Brasstwister |
Dunbar reaches inside his pack and retrieves the cloak and says, "My companion noticed that this cloak we found back in the pit matches your jacket. It is a fine cloak and I would like to return it to you."
The Dwarf attempts to notice if this improves the Gillman's attitude.

GM Fuzzfoot |
I know I posted a response to this, but no longer see it... here is a shorter version:
The gillman eyes the cloak, and you believe he recognizes it.
Giving him the cloak gives you a +8 circumstance bonus to a diplomacy chek to improve his attitude - someone will need to make the check. Take 10 and aid are both allowed.
Hinkle Mikrinkleberry |
Hinkle will take his time and take 10
"It might help if we explain ourselves. We are Pathfinders and one of our fellow agents noticed one of your people entering this cave as she was studying the local flora. We have been sent to study the nature of this cave for any lost knowledge. We do have a lot of interest in the old carvings at the entrance to this cavern and wondered if you knew anything about them."
Diplomacy: 10 + 8 + 2 = 20
GM Fuzzfoot |
Just made it!
The gillman smiles a bit. "For me, these waters are sacred and I come here to pray. The walls that you speak of, those do not interest me. I believe they have something to do with Aroden, and perhaps this was once a holy place dedicated to that religion as well. Excuse my suspicious nature, but there are other creatures in these caves that do no prove to be as enlightened as you..."
He motions to one of the tunnels.
Fillia Bloodstone |
"Yes. Please explain.....well everything." Fillia bobs about like an overexcited filly.
GM Fuzzfoot |
"There is some evil down this tunnel. I have not yet encountered them, but I can feel it, and I know something has been happening to my people. Other visitors, like me, come here but have never returned."
Fillia Bloodstone |
Fillia raises an eyebrow but not at the story but by the centipedes that seem to be running a race at the water's edge.
Hinkle Mikrinkleberry |
"Considering we are guest here at your holy site we would be honored to assist in making it safe for you and your people. Now you just want us to go check these two passage ways?" Hinkle says as he starts walking toward the tunnel the gill man gestured at.

The cave’s damp air becomes increasingly stale as you continue down through this tunnel, and as you approach this area, the stench of decay grows increasingly evident. The passage turns to the east and opens into a small
cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper, and other unusable detritus. The body of a male dhampir lies facedown toward the back of the cavern.
