Glad you are still here, Serak!
Lyrio ignores his serious wounds and presses the attack, but misses as his wounds constrain his actions. His lion companion also attacks, and its claws draw four lines of blood from the flustered enemy.
Serak dazes the tentacled creature with a spell and it holds his head in pain.
Starling finishes casting her spell, and suddenly the monster falls over with a crash.
It doesn't even wake from the fevered crescendo of the twin books.
COMBAT OVER! I'm going to call it there. It was pretty wounded and the last two blows would kill it, or you can hold those actions and let it live. It had some cool abilities it could use in the water, but since you never filled up the previous chamber, they wouldn't work. Nice job!

Cody begins tying it up, "Tie it up and question it? I would like to know what it was trying to do to the Celestial tome."
Stephani du Boules |
"Agreed."
Once it is bound and gagged, and the other book removed from it's vicinity, Stephani will wake the creature up.
Use CLW wand as needed.
Serak Hamistagon |
Serak looks dubiously at the group.
Yes. Let's tie it up and ask it stuff. That worked reeeeeally good last time. Or have you all forgotten that there is an axe wielding psychopath running around, just waiting to chop my head off? I say we set it on fire and throw it in a deep hole somewhere.
The gnome crosses his arms and looks stubbornly at the thing.
Serak Hamistagon |
Serak looks back incredulously.
I think you and me have two very different ideas of fun. See, I like not giving someone who previously wanted to off me a second chance!
The gnome throws his hand up in the air and let's out an annoyed sigh.
Tell you what. We'll question him, and then I'll fry him. Deal?

Serak entertains thoughts of fried calamari while the rest of the group decides to tie the creature up.
Upon waking, it seems thoroughly enraged that its ritual had been interrupted, but does seem glad to be alive in the end.
Questioning reveals that the creature is one Na-Kraka, a cecaelia unsatisfied with its life of simply taking tribute from sailors and fishermen traveling through his tribe's territory near one of Xidao's many coral atolls.
When hard times beset his tribe, this cecaelia latched onto the bottom of a passing trade vessel headed for distant Absalom. He successfully convinced one of the scholarly aides aboard, Nicola, an assistant to one Yargos Gill, to help steal a pair of powerful tomes of magic Yargos had gone to Xidao to retrieve.
The pair hoped to access the vast knowledge of the pair of tomes for themselves. The pair had started a small cult in the tunnels. When Yargos Gill had foolishly started a ritual to open the tomes and it had gone all wrong, the historian had sent his two aids for help, one to the lodge to seek the Pathfinders' help, and the other with the Celestial Song to seek Ollysta Zadrian's help. That tome had not made it to the paladin, but the traitorous aid had brought it directly to Na-Kraka.
With its plan foiled, it attempts to bargain for its life and freedom, offering the group all the assorted coins in its possession, a pearl of power, an elemental gem of water, and a silver raven figurine of wondrous power. Up to you whether you free him or not.
Retrieving the two tomes is enough to spark further Pathfinder Society interest in the tomes. The Society steps in following the debacle and offers Yargos Gill further assistance with his work on the tomes, an offer the old man can't refuse, given the Society's help in saving him from his own foolishness. The scholars ensure that the two tomes are respected and no further outbreaks occur.
Adventure over! Great work! Also, please see the info I need for Chronicles.
