Just FYI, all - I just haven't seen anything yet to respond to. Was waiting for Doc, now waiting to see if a melee will still start when we get to the clinic (if so, I'll still cast Bless), or what...
Can check a few more times this afternoon, then again early tomorrow AM.

Mal: Unless the GM has Doc be a complete failure at riding, he'll be coming 'round the mountain pawnshop from the pen to head out of town. So if you want to intercept him, you'll probably spot him traveling the main (only?) street, in the vicinity of the saloon. On horseback. :o) (Is "ponyback" a thing?)
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Not "miniature." Properly-heighted. Horses are just too dadblamed big.
It's unnatural, is what it is.
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
I think the pony's gonna do just fine, but it's a shame there weren't any riding/war dogs in stock, 'cuz Doc would be all like this. :o)
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Apologies for the My Little Pony reference but, like Mal earlier, "I regret nothing." This game is a freakin' tropefest anyway, so why not? :o)
The Applejack character fits nicely with what Doc would want in a mount, too:
Applejack is a brave, reliable, strong, mature, and hard-working pony, although headstrong about doing things on her own.
Plus that last bit not only justifies the initial recalcitrance and hand nip, it gives Doc a dose of his own medicine. :o)
And as a bonus, I'm not familiar with the MLP franchise but it appears Applejack has a human alterform that's downright cute and, in the right light, borders on jailbait.
Not that Doc would horse around or anything...
Bukaru d'Banzai |
He looks at Mal as they proceed down the street. "... who do we believe?"
Hmmm...let's see : the whiny, grousing, I'm-better-than-all-of-you, CHA 12, Diplomacy +1 character,
or the sweet, polite, young, cute, CHA 17, Diplomacy +10 character. Hmm...Heck, I could even have MAL on my side in a heartbeat if I just put the right twinkle in my eye... :)
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
I seriously doubt you'll need a twinkle of any sort to snag Mal. ;o)
As for the rest of it, I'll paraphrase the original TV Loveless:
"I plead guilty to being dictatorial, vain, short-tempered, occasionally unreasonable, always... always a helpless admirer of all that is rare and fine in nature and art. But whiny and grousing... no m'am, that I will not permit."
And he is better than all of you. So, nyah! :op
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
I'll be relocating my computer Saturday and may be slow in posting/responding.
Bukaru d'Banzai |
Can someone give me a quick "how-to" on using the map? Or a pointer to some instructions in this discussion, or a pointer to some public instructions? Thanks!
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Apologies for being incommunicado for so long. I'm in the process of relocating, and getting my computer set up, running and connected again took longer than anticipated (ran into some issues).
I'm guessing Applejack gets tied up to a post or something when the group arrives at the clinic.
Not at the clinic per se, but essentially correct:
Doc climbs down from Applejack and loops her reins around a nearby hitching post.
I'll keep the previous rolls, and just add the Doc into the mix, here.
Nope. Doc's not there. As stated...
Doc unties the reins and climbs back on Applejack. "Alright Appie, let's head out," he says, then clucks twice and nudges her with his heels.
... Doc is on the way out of town headed for Tin Star. :o)
Go ahead. Punt. :op
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
He... puts a dagger on the throat of the sick little boy. "I'll slit his throat! I swear it by all the Old Dead Gods!"
All things considered it's fortunate Doc's headed out of town. He has a thing about children being put at risk or abused. That so-called "healer" would be a smoldering pile of cinders right now.
Bluffing or not.
Bukaru d'Banzai |
Yeah, pity y'all don't have a, you know, Doctor handy. Knowledge (Nature) +8 :op
And who's choice is it we don't have a doctor handy, hmmm? :) Certainly not the DM's...
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
And who's choice is it we don't have a doctor handy, hmmm? :) Certainly not the DM's...
Insert shrug here. Doc has business in Tin Star, this podunk town is of no interest, and it's not like you lot mean anything to him. So, he secured a mount and headed out. Just taking care of business.
Seems to me greed is the main if not sole reason some of you didn't do the same. :oP
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
She then produced a blackjack and knocked McCady unconscious with a swift hit at the back of the head.
Wow. I'd heard of "frontier justice" but never knew it extended to "frontier prisoner management." o.0

Guys, I'm sorry but my medication is really making me loopy when I'm not in so much pain I can barely focus. I'm trying to keep up with my games but it's really hard. I'm not giving up, but I might need an extra day. I'll try to post tomorrow afternoon. I seem to be better focused in the afternoons. Again, sorry.

No worries, we ain't wanderin' off.
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Anybody have any ideas about what to do with the little girl?
Anyone have a flask of Alchemist's Fire? :o)
Bukaru d'Banzai |
Ben - not with a CMD of 10 :(
Loveless - wow, you're really living up to your name! :) What if the little girl really is just a little girl, and her pa's gone nuts?
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Well first of all, I suspect you're jumping to conclusions. Firebombing the girl isn't the only option. For example, she's about to head back inside; if you lob it into the house she'll probably change her mind. ("Sorry there McCady, we tried to stop that there monster but it done burnt your house clean down.")
A flask in hand also makes a rather potent bargaining tool. (Just don't ask a lava gnome to fill that role, as the flask isn't likely to stay in hand.)
Anyway, Doc doesn't like being around kids -- too noisy -- but he has a soft spot for them, especially if they're being mistreated. But that ain't no kid.
And even if it is, she already has a serious attitude problem -- imagine the teenager she'll turn into. Probably grow up to be one of those twitchy unpredictable gunslinger types. ;o)
Bukaru d'Banzai |
So, kill her now and avoid the future frustration, is that what you're saying? :)
Seriously, anybody - any ideas? Ray, where have the others who were approaching from behind gotten to? Inside the house? Not?
Mallory Lewis |
Children are Mallory's weakness, for sure. (Well, that and women.)
I would probably assume she's a kid and try to overpower her. She has shown that whether she's a brat or a monster, she won't listen to reason, so you'll have to go tougher than that. It might cause her to reveal her true nature, if indeed she has one. And if not, you won't have done any harm.
Meanwhile, Ben and I can check under the bed, and then upon hearing the commotion (if there is any), we can burst out through the front door and riddle everything with holes, as we are wont to do. Everybody wins.
wicked_raygun |
The stealthy characters are still stealthy as far as they know. They are approaching the back way. You guys can use the House Map up above to get an idea of where you are.
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
/me laughs at the Happy Happy Joy Joy little kid avatar. :o)
wicked_raygun |
Sure that's funny now. But do you have any idea how terrified I got when I tried to search google for images of "little kids"? I didn't even hit Enter, I got so freaked. Searched for "animated kids" instead. I don't want that clogging up my browser history, no matter how innocently intentioned it was.
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
Dude. SafeSearch. I realize it's an inconvenience to turn it back off when you're pr0n hunting, but...
Dr. Miguelito Loveless |
What if the little girl really is just a little girl?
Satisfied? :op
Sorry Doc isn't there to help, guys. I really expected this to be a mere resupply point and that, since it's morning, we'd be hitting the road straight away. With Doc being headstrong and feeling no ties to the group yet (plus the whole Gizmo guilt trip thing), it just seemed he'd want to head on to Tin Star and attend to as much business as possible before he's forced to tag along with Gulch.
Bukaru d'Banzai |
Ray -
I'm not complaining since I'm fairly confident Bukaru will survive, I'm just trying to understand the rules about AoO's.
I just looked up DaRules in order to quote them to make my points, but (surprise surprise!) PF doesn't actually explicitly address either of these points in the Combat section on AoO's. So what follows is merely my understanding, if your understanding is different that's cool.
I would think that since an AoO is a "reaction", you would need to have your weapon ready to use when the opportunity arises. PF does say "If you're unarmed, you don't normally threaten any squares and thus can't make attacks of opportunity".
I would also think that morphing hands into claws would take more than a Free, Swift, or Immediate action, which I would think you can't do before taking an AoO (and I'm not even sure you can take a Free etc. action before taking an AoO).
So I would like to suggest that since the "little girl" didn't already have claws, she couldn't have taken an AoO as I reached to grapple her.
