You can have an animal companion, you do not get speak with animals. Instead I'll give you +2 to handle animal checks.

Hmm, could you go for +2 to both Ride and Handle Animals? Seems like it should be "worth' more, but not a big deal.

Also, how do you feel about Animal Empathy - which he will have per the class.

Animal empathy is not magic. In fact I'd go so far as to say I have that class feature IRL after years of working with animals. :P

You can have a +3 to Ride or Handle Animal, your choice. But that's as far as I'm willing to go for the speak to animals.

More than fair. I think I'll take Ride. That helps offset the armor penalty. :)

Just a quick reminder (you may be aware but) you can't use a longbow on horseback but you can use a compound longbow (unless we have different house rules.)

Have fun you guys. I tried to put something interesting together but fear my late entry prevented as strong a showing as I would have liked. Still I spent 3+ hours building my entry and liked him. I am surprised that only three were selected.
