Similarly to the other game, I need, before we begin, two sets of rolls from the players before we begin:
1) A straight d6 roll, modified by your charisma, to see if you happen to know or are friends with any of the escorts before we begin. This CAN ace (explode), and you do get your wild die, but it cannot be Benny'd, as this is not a skill roll or attribute roll. This is pretty much pure luck, and charisma only modifies it because charismatic people are more likely to have more friends in the vault altogether who have been chosen.
2) A Stealth roll to determine if you managed to hide anything when you were searched at the gate. For every success and raise you managed to hide anything roughly the size of a standard Snickers bar on you. (In my RL game and my other PbP, examples of things people have taken have been a mulitool, a stick of dynamite, a small box of bobby pins, a stimpak, and a switchblade...but you are not limited to that.) This CAN be Benny'd and as usual with skills, you get your wild die. Bennies used will be deducted from your scene 1 Bennys, so be considering that...
If you get snakeyes on hiding something, then you tried to hide something sharp, and it didn't go so well...

Estelle Beaumont |

Oh wow, thanks for the selection. I thought there was literally no way that I was getting in with all of the fantastic applicants!
Knowing People: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Knowing People Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 3
Stealth: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Stealth Wild: 1d6 ⇒ 3

"Badger" Bloom |

Glad I made the cut, I'm very excited to get into the game!
Charisma roll: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Charisma wild die: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Aced roll: 1d6 ⇒ 4
So that's a 10 total on having friend in the escorts.
Stealth roll to conceal an item: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Stealth wild die: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Aced stealth roll: 1d8 ⇒ 8
Aced stealth roll 2: 1d8 ⇒ 1
Assuming that I understand correctly and exploding die continue rolling, that would be a 17 total on stealth- or a 16. I'm guessing a survival knife would be too large to hide? Would a multitool, like a leatherman, be usable as a weapon or is it strictly considered a tool?
I hope this luck holds up!

Aeryicka Hill |

Charisma Check: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Charisma Wild Die: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Charisma Ace Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Stealth: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Stealth Wild Die: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Stealth Ace Roll: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Stealth Ace 2: 1d6 ⇒ 3
So a 13 for knowing at least one guard, and a 15 to hide something. I'll take a dog whistle and a...something something something darkside... Yeah, wasn't really expecting to be able to take anything so I'm not too sure what to bring.

The Green Tea Overseer |

Estelle - Not too bad. One success with luck, but no hidden items.
Badger two successes in friends. Normally, such an item would be too big to bring, but you did get an ace and three raises, so if you want to bring a combat knife I'll let it count as two items. It would be Strength+1d4+1, one handed. (I'll post a full item list whenever you guys find a town, until then I'll give you stats of stuff as they come.)
By comparison, a collapsable baton or a switchblade would be Str+1d4, +2 to conceal with stealth if you're searched for it in the future, and small enough to count as one item.
A multitool would count as an improvised weapon, and a rather weak one. It's like trying to attack someone with a collapsable screwdriver. It will hurt, but not as much as even a plain old butcher knife.
Aeryica, with three successes, is apparently going to have a lot of sympathy from the escorts. Not suprised with her being a kid. You almost snagged as many items as Badger. When in doubt, Stimpaks, Radaways, and other chems are useful.
So far this is the luckiest start of the groups I've got going. We'll see what the other three bring to the table.
Anyone who's done their rolls and established their starting items can get started. You don't have to wait until tomorrow (though I won't penalize anyone who does since in advance I said we'd be starting Monday).

Aeryicka Hill |

Since I got a lot of sympathy, would it be possible to role play one of them giving me a stimpak? Honestly, other than her dog whistle, I don't really see her thinking about hiding anything before hand. Also, should I have an alias made for my dog? Or will just a sheet to reference work?

"Badger" Bloom |

I will take the combat knife, since it seems like the kind of thing Badger would have as a prized possession. So that's two- my raises would mean I had 4 total items to work with? If that's the case, I'll take a stimpak and a radaway in addition to the knife.

The Green Tea Overseer |

Well, basically, your friends dropping can leave you items in addition to whatever you sneak of their choice. If you want to say a parent thought to duct tape something to your leg, or whatever, that's fine.
It would probably be good to have at least a sheet for your dog, since it can level up with you, and will be more than standard after a while. An alias is up to you. I don't mind either way. It will be an extra unless you eventually get the Animal Friend edge.
You don't have to limit yourself to a dog, even though it is the most iconic animal. I found some large bird stats, as well, and I can finangle some other options up if you think of anything.
Basically, there weren't really pet-type animals in the vault, because that would be a huge resource drain...maybe a pig or other food types that wouldn't last long...but since you're starting with the edge, you're going to run into some strays of your chosen type immediately.

"Badger" Bloom |

Badger, I saw your post. I'm gonna wait until I get everyone's luck rolls to tell you what you hear, because if someone snakeyes, you're gonna want to hear what they have to say about that person... (and they can't Benny the luck roll, so, there's that...)
Sounds good. I'm early to the party, so I can wait.

Aeryicka Hill |

Psst: This is Deko
I fully plan on taking that edge the first moment it becomes available. I got a mythweavers sheet linked on this alias for Canis Rex, an American Pitbull Terrier. I can understand not having one in the vault, and finding one once we're released sounds good. Went with a pitbull because I love the breed and once had one.
As for Aeryicka, she's 17, just short for her age at a little under 5'.

Glad to be here!
Some luck, eh? Let's see what how that goes. :p
Somce random luck: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Some Wild Luck: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Yet more Wild Luck: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Yet even way whole bunch more betterer...er luck: 1d6 ⇒ 1 = 13
Stealth: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Wild Stealth?: 1d6 ⇒ 3
edit: Ah. Okay. Fair enough!
I know that Fallout isn't shy about working blue with the language, and I'm sure we all know how to get around the filters, but my default setting is always set on 'Shadowrun' until I hear otherwise. =-)

thegreenteagamer |

No, you don't understand, I think. Stealth lets you choose the item.
Luck lets me choose, since I'm the NPCs...plus...people liking you guys can help prevent the snakeyes result to someone else (imagine what happens if the people escorting REALLY don't like one of you...)
Only reason I said otherwise with Aeryica was she had the stealth roll, so I said she can reflavor it, since the result would be the same.

Harper Beckett |

Greetings, friends!
May our lives be long and devoid of tragedy.
...Like that's going to happen. :P
Knowing People: 1d6 ⇒ 4
Wild Knowing People: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Exploding Wild Knowing People: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Well, I definetly know Thomas. Maybe Aeryicka and I had some classes together. I'm also going to say that Harper may have met Kristophe as her sneaky tendancies have probably gotten her in trouble a time or two.
As for Harper's companion, I just want to befriend some odd creature of the Wastes. Seems like a creature of the Fallout universe could be the touchstone between Harper's life in Vault Two and Harper's life in the Wasteland.
Stealth: 1d12 ⇒ 5
Wild Stealth: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Not quite sure... Any recommendations? I'll sleep on this question.

thegreenteagamer |

At least it wasn't snakeyes. Other game had a guy snakeyes, I decided he tried to hide a switchblade, much to his chagrin, it didn't go well...he got to start the game wounded.

"Badger" Bloom |

I still need Estelle's stealth and luck rolls. Gonna do luck myself if we don't get one by my lunch break so I can give you guys some proper advancement.
It looks to me like she rolled them in the second post in this thread- 1 success on luck and no successes on smuggling.

Harper Beckett |

I get that Harper's being an idiot right now, but seriously, everyone is so chill about learning that they'll never see their families again and are most likely going to die. Someone's gotta panic around here. Granted, Harper's an extraordinarily naïve fourteen year old who hasn't exactly been in a crisis before. I can see her acting irrationally in a situation like this.

"Badger" Bloom |

I'm far too overconfident/delusional to panic at something as simple as being thrust into a nuclear wasteland! Completely good role-playing on your part.
I'm probably over-enthusiastic in my posting so far, I'll step back a little more today to let everyone else get their spotlight time.

thegreenteagamer |

I have to remain calm. It's my job. ;-) seriously though, I've been enjoying reading it. You guys and the other PbP group RP way more than my in person group, who just spent the whole time trying to talk their escorts into more supplies and then being like "oh well, let's go find some stuff to murder. I want to find a super sledge!"
"Sociopath" is their hidden edge and hindrance.

thegreenteagamer |

Just a heads up...I will interject some dark humor to reflect the Fallout ambiance. If that's not cool, let me know, and I'll try to tone it down. You'll see what I mean later. Nothing outrageous.

Aeryicka Hill |

Bring on the dark humor! And no spoiling FO4! I won't have it til next year when I can get a PS4

"Badger" Bloom |

Dead Money doesn't work that well gameplay-wise, but I think it has a really good story at its core. I love the heist setup and how it bridges out to the other New Vegas DLCs with Elijah and Big MT.

Kristophe Kristophson |

I didn't play any of the New Vegas DLC, since I was playing on my Xbox360 and I have really bad satellite internet at home. I played F3 on the PC and had the DLC for that one.
I do plan on attempting to buy/download the F4 DLC.
edit: GM, a question about the GUTS skill. I read that its not actually a skill in all settings. Is it viable in this one? I took it because I figured Kristophe had to be kinda gutsy and a little brave to go along with all his talk and bluster....but now it seems the Spirit trait is more important for that.

Harper Beckett |

Ack, this is going too fast! Catch up time awaits!
Edit: About the dog thing... It seems kinda contrived and thrown into the plot. I'll take care of the dog for now, but do you think that I could befriend a different animal later? Maybe one that I meet in combat or something of the sort?
Shoot. I'll post on gameplay in an hour. I'm at a doctor's appointment for now, and I've been called in.

Aeryicka Hill |

My big posting times is anytime starting at 6pm cst weekdays any anytime during the weekend

Aeryicka Hill |

Dang, didn't know that Animal Friend would need Survival d10. Gonna have to start working on that skill whenever I can.
