He tilts his head, eliciting a pop from the joints in his neck before gingerly rotating his right shoulder. "Felix, is it? If you've got more divine energy to spare I'm still not fully recovered from the attack...."

"Parlay? Last time you were secretly plotting to kill me, now its parlay?" Delkaneth's response is a bit heated, and there is suddenly an axe in each hand. "Maybe we parlay...maybe we resolve this situation with reason and persuasion." He raises a hand slightly after those last words as if referring to the weapons. Delkaneth looks left and right trying to gauge the level of support he might get from the folks that rescued him.
"But sure, I'm game, say what you came to say."

Daresh takes note of the familiar face.
I see, and you are a hard one to kill it would seem. Anyway, I am search of a map, something that I believed was in Lissette's possession. but it would seem it may in fact be here in this cave. Now, thanks to some over zealous soldiers of mine, and some rather stronger than expected lizardmen, I am down to only these two gnolls. definitely not enough to handle the beast that guards what I want.
the man with Daresh keeps a grip on his scimitar.. by his dress you can tell he is of Osirion decent. Daresh holds out her hand and the man pulls out a vial and places it in her hand.
I possess the cure for the poison effecting the the dryad's tree. you go in, take care of the guardian and bring me the map I am after. in return you get the cure. I am also willing to provide some limited magical support to complete the mission.

she needs the antidote now not whenever we get back from fighting the thing, and that's if we get back alive, give us the antidote now, and I swear on my honor, that I will bring you back the map, or we could go your way, but to make it more even, if my time sensitive mission fails, so does yours, or to put it another way, if she dies I'm going to burn the map

Daresh remains calm as she answers the questions posed to her.
first off, If it will make you feel better, then here. take the antidote. she holds lout her hand with the vial waiting for someone to take it.
second, the source of the poison should be easy for you to find. she indiates the cave entrance. I don't know where it is in there, but you should know, it was not my magic that poisoned her or her tree.
turning to Tat, as for the map, it is a page from a journal that was, well probably still is, in the possession of one miss Amelia Lores. I sent Lissette to retrieve it a long time ago, but that dumb b%%!+ messed up everything. she is supposedly impriosoned in this cave, and guarded by said guardian. you can keep the jounal, I only want the map.
as far as what is on the map, well, it really is not much of a concern to you, but if you must know. it details the location of an obolisk that may be the source of a curse that has been plauging m family for many years.

she does not appear to be lying about the cure. but you can sence there is more on that map than she is leading on, but what she did say shows no deception.

OK I may be just being lazy, but did I actually give you a map or were you searching for a map? the one thing I hate is not being able to search through PM's to find particular ones.
but for right now there is only 1 map that everyone is after, and...
adventure spoilers here....
there are only two copies of the map (I believe I planned that out) one is buried with the remains of walker Dairoo, the other was with Amelia lores. (a partial copy exists currently with the party)
the part the party has includes the needed starting point to find the tomb of Walker Dairoo. so even if Daresh gets the whole map, you still can get the original (which will also contain much more information than the copy) you just have to find the tomb of Dairoo and loot it.
You sense that Daresh is only after that map. no indication as to why. she seems to be truthful on what she has said so far. her means of getting it have been rather questionable well... actually downright evil, but then again, as she claims, she is looking to lift a family curse and she is acting out of desperation.
Daresh thinks for a moment at the request. agreed, I will call off all the gnolls under my command. in fact. I will place these two gnolls in your hands to assist you in defeating the guardian.

turning her attention to the Paladin, It was a means to an end. I planned on using the situation to gain her help. but, apparently it severely backfired. There were other circumstances that seemed to be in play that I was unaware of. the poison was not supposed to work that fast. nor was it to be so deadly. I believe there is something else at work.
Daresh seems to be on the defensive, but is definitely interested in settling this whole mess.
the antidote I gave you will stop the poison I introduced. whatever else is causing the problem lies inside that cave.

Conner frowns before nodding and says "fine, I'll take your word for it and help you out, but let me make this clear, I don't like your methods, I don't approve of them, you killed a lot of people, horrifically if the bodies were anything to go by, if I find out that you have deceived us in this, or are tricking us into some act of evil I will make it my mission to do all that I can to oppose you, I will be the thorn in your side, and you will wish a simple curse will be all that you had to deal with"

Tatsuo smirks at the gnoll's surprised expression. He whispers conspiratorially to his companions. "I don't know how S'latch will feel about this, but I'm convinced for now that helping may do more good than ill. Although I definitely think we should perhaps ask for a short amount of time to talk about this amongst ourselves in a place where we're definitely out of earshot."

Assuming that we get far enough away to definitely be out of earshot.
As they walk away, Tatsuo keeps an eye on the two humans, trying to make sure they don't cast anything to eavesdrop on their conversation.

"She's definitely hiding something about the map. Although what she said seems to be true. I wouldn't mind a quick Detect Evil to make sure she's not secretly a demon, making her cursed family probably deserve what's happened to them. My guess is that you won't find anything though. As for the map, when we get it, we should definitely make a copy of it for ourselves. I would suggest even trying to give them the copy rather than original, but if it's part of an old journal, I'm not sure the copy would look close enough to the original to be convincing."

Felix nods Agreed. Our first objective is to save the dryad right now and it seems like we have to go into the caves to do it. Can you tell S'latch to take the dryad back to the tree and stay with here there? I don't think we can carry her underground without harming her.

He then translates Felix's question to S'latch, also adding "I think we've gotten them to agree to leave the rest of your fellow kobolds alone if we retrieve something from this cave for them."

"If I'm right about who she is, people have been trying to explain the curse for generations. If we can do it.....a little bit of fame, perhaps, and there should be quite a few trinkets for us to find along the way. Let me try something."
Delkaneth finally returns one of his axes to his belt and turns back to face Daresh. "Providing the antidote and calling off the gnolls is a noble gesture, but I'm not sure I believe that the map is of no concern to us.........."

Daresh raises an eyebrow at that comment.
she does seem surprised at the mention of the name, more along the lines of you know the Dairoo name not so much as an identity revealed.
you are pretty confident that the assumption is false. She is not any relation to the Dairoo line (which would make more sense considering you recall there are no longer any living Dairoo's known to exist
I don't have any idea what you mean by that. like I said, the map is of no concern to you. If you seek treasure and fame, there is plenty of information within the rest of the journal to go on.

The explorer chooses to remain silent for the moment, having already shown his cards and failed. He remains confident that the map is quite a bit of his concern but he waits to see what the others will do.

He doesn't react to what his magic revealed, to mindlessly kill people just because they might just be selfish, or manipulative, would be a much larger act of evil and lawlessness after all, and besides, he has a job to do.
He immiedietly goes to the source of the poison and adds the antidote.

hold up there Conner, it isn't that simple
Conner takes the antidote and proceeds into the cave. the cave entrance slops downward the forest vegetation protrudes into the entrance only a few feet. after about 10 to 15 feet in the outside light wanes away and all is dark beyond that.
Conner do you have darkvision? your character sheet needs to be a little better organized with these things to help me out please.

If they detect as evil, that's probably a good sign they're a high enough level to kill us anyway. Unless they're actually clerics/anti-paladins/undead/demons.
Tatsuo pulls the daylight sphere from earlier out of a pocket and holds it up. "Hey Mickey, do you want to lead us to the source of the poison? That's probably where this map and guardian are anyway. And the dryad probably doesn't have time for us to explore other branches first."

As the druid begins his incantations Delkaneth takes a few steps ahead and drops to one knee to inspect the floor. "Places like this seem to always be full of surprises..."

the cave is natural. and is very old. you notice no traps but the passageway to the right seems to be progressively moist and there are signs of mold and fungus growth

You have discovered a single set of gnoll prints heading to the passage on the right they go in but do not come out

you detect poison indicates a strong source of poison down the passage to the right. it starts small but get stronger the further you go.
this passage is damp and the sounds of water dripping can be heard.
