The party makes their way back to the cave of the lizardfolk.

but all is not well among the lizardfolk.

The cave you left that once housed the tribal guards and the meeting place you arranged is a mess. the walls of the cavern a scorched. there are charred remains of lizardfolk scattered about. the smell of burning flesh lingers in the air.

perception DC 15:

You are able to hear the sound of a few falling stones in the far corner. and what you think are the sounds of someone or something attempting to hide.

Spellcraft DC 18:

these scorch markings are definitely from fire magic of at least the 3rd level of power, maybe even higher given the intensity that they seemed to have burned.

definitely fireball spell enhanced with metamagic

It's been less than three days since I was last here. This is horrific Felix says.

He makes sure his musket is loaded and brings up his Detect Evil spell and follows Conner towards the nosies.

Tatsuo looks around in wide-eyed surprise. He blinks, responding to Conner's comment. "I'd be surprised if something capable of throwing fireball spells around was trying to hide from us. Perhaps it's one of the remaining lizardfolk? I'll try to coax it out."

Tatsuo moves towards where Conner is headed, waving Sora to stay back less she spook whomever is hiding there even more. He then calls out softly, trying to be soothing.

Draconic:
"Are you a member of the Blackscale tribe? I assure you, we mean no harm. We are friends, just recently returned from making the tunnels safe from the evil witch Lissette, who had been killing and turning your clan into zombies."

Please...Help, they are mad, they destroyed the whole tribe, They were looking for Lissette.

Less than three days... attackers didn't seem to care about covering their tracks Felix crouches and studies the markings on the ground seeking to discover where the attackers came from and where they were going.

Survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Is it possible to take 10 or 20 on Survival to track, because Felix would have done that instead. Let me know

"Who are 'they'? Where are they now? Are there others of your tribe in need of rescue?"

He looks around, suddenly tense. In Common he softly adds, "Some group came here looking for Lissette. They destroyed the tribe."

He waves at Sora to help Felix look for tracks.

Tracks are easy to find. based on what evidence you found and questioning the lizardman, who definitely looks better after some healing.

two people, humans, a man and a woman, accompanied by what looked like walking dog people, came to the the tribe from outside. they demanded to know about Lissette.

The Lizardmen told them that Lissette was dead, and they got angry and slaughtered the tribe. many of the warriors retreated to the cave you are in. but they just could not be stopped.

The Lizardmen manged to kill a few of the dog people but the wizards were just too much.

this lizardman is the only survivor. Once they were pretty sure everyone was dead they left.

unfortunately any conversation the wizards had was lost since the lizardmen could not understand them.

Treasure hunters? Old enemies of Lissette's? Doesn't matter. This senseless slaughter marks them as evil people who don't deserve to draw another breath.

Never said it was

If they're concerned with Lissette then we will probably run across them sooner rather than later since we now control her den and her treasures. The two human wizards seem to be the ones in charge and I don't know how long it will be before they find Lissette's former home. What do you suggest we do Conner? Tatsuo does the lizardman have some other tribe or family on the home that he could join and warn? I shudder to think what other horrors the group is carrying out as it searches for Lissette.

We tried to send them to the cave of the Bull-man creature near moss hill. it is a mile or so north of our tribe entrance. I don't think they fell for our trick. You can check with the Snake mouth Clan, they live near the hill.

"Apparently the Blackscale clan tried to send them to a 'bull-man' near mill, which is about a mile north of the tribe entrance. Our friend here doesn't think their trick was successful, but there's a Snake mouth Clan near the area that would likely know."

I'm not sure if I mentioned it, but Tatsuo also would have taken his silver key back before leaving the treasure vault area so as to seal it again.

Tatsuo turns again to the lizardman.

Draconic:
"Since your tribe seems to have been wiped out, do you have relatives you can join? Do you think the Snake mouth Clan is in danger and should be warned?"

Then again in common. "I'm asking about his relatives and if the Snake mouth Clan needs to be warned about these thugs. I'm not sure if it'd be best to hurry and try to warn them or to try to clear out the rest of this area first."

Getting this poor fellow to safety would be a good idea. And if we can find out more about these evil wizards in the process then so much the better. They don't know about us but we varely know anything about them except that they are sure to be hostile

Do the tracks head in the direction that the lizard man indicated?

The cave you are in is like the back of the Lizardman lair, (like a back door) there is a cave complex that eventually will lead outside where the rest of the tribe lived.

The tracks enter and leave this cave they eventually are all over the complex eventually going outside.

just want to know if you are leaving here to go back into the vault or through the lizardman caves to the outside.

Ahhh.. so we entered Lissete's vault through the Lizardman caves. Got it. I'd say we follow the cave tracks to the outside cautiously and head to the Snake mouth Clan. What does everyone else think?

If so then maybe the lizardman can come inside and shelter for the night... and we can clear out some more rooms before resting and heading out tomorrow?

With the Lizardman clan gone the following is a brief overview of the rest of the Clan's cave system.the last survivor can tell you what each area was.

You are in room 11
the passage (area 18a) is teh passage back to the vault (where you fought Lissette.

The other passage on the left is also from the vault, this is where the party (minus felix) first entered from the vault into this cave.

Area 12:
This is a Lizardman sentry room, a place for guards to and soldiers to get ready for battle. everything in this room is either destroyed or far to inferior to anything you currently have.

Area 13:
This is the Tribe 'Common Room" currently the corpses of the women and children are here. two dead dog like men are also in here.

Area 14:
This is another Lizardman "Common Room" this looks like it was once a feasting hall there are several dead Lizardman warriors in here and three more dead dog-men

Area 15 & 16:
These is a Lizardman sleeping areas currently empty and ransacked

Area 17:

This is the "Throne Room" of the clan. the 'Lizard king" still sits on the throne but apparently he is headless. there are 3 more dead Dog-men as well as 6 Lizardman warrior bodies in here. all killed by blade.

The tunnel that leads off the map from area 14 leads to the outside.

Alright we go back inside, and start clearing out the rest of the vault then right? After we've cleared out as much as we can we can rest.

"It looks like our friend here as decided to accompany us until we reach the Snake Clan. As for resting, I still have a lot of my spells left, so I'm fine continuing, but I don't mind either way. We should probably burn all the corpses though. Lissette may be gone, but better safe than sorry, eh?"

He then turns to the lizardman, pointing at various members of the party as he says their names.

Draconic:
"You are welcome to travel with us, though it might be best if we first lay the dead to rest. I am Tatsuo. These are my companions Mickey, Felilx, and Conner. What should we call you? Unfortunately, we have no idea why these people would seek Lissette. Perhaps she has information they want?"

Felix sighs Yes that would be good. Ask the survivor how he would prefer his tribe to be given its last respects.

following the path you already know you find yourselves back at the familiar intersection where moving south took you to Lissette.

Are the blue sections the ones that haven't been explored? If so we should head West first right?
