"That B!+<#" Kasha blurts out, displaying a bit of Koya's flair for invective. Eyes flashing with anger at the thought of her treatment, before filling with compassion as she looks at her, she gently squeezes Lia's shoulders resting her head against hers. "Then we're getting you something to eat before anything else."
Looking over to where Koya finishes her prayer she asks her mother, "Do you want to come down to eat as well mama or would you rather I bring you up something?"

"If you could bring me up a plate of bear steak and veggies, I'd love that." Koya nods at you.
"Um..." Lia blushes a bit at your language, and her blush deepens as you rest your head against hers. "...thank you."
"Just don't buy the Winter Wolf Steak. It's a tourist trap."
Kavell Speranta |
" I cant help but feel like something is off about this town but never mind that. Have you had a chance to see your folks yet? Once we... interupt this buriel at sea we may have to leave quicker than I would like... you are uh... still coming along yes?
He asked reaching out and squeezing her hand softly.
Kasha Mvashti |
With a chuckle Kasha nods, standing up. Sly chitters happily looking up at Lia before jumping off her lap and curling up on Kasha's pillow. "Ready?" she asks Lia.

Kelda looks rather pensive. "...Been putting it off a bit. Wasn't comfortable seeing them again without you at my side."
"But so long as no one sees you board and leave, no one should know you were there." She pats your shoulder with her free hand. "And Kelda still intends to come along."

Friday
Zaiobe lets you lead the way downstairs, folding her wings about herself like a cloak. Her eyes are as red and observant as ever--and yet, you can feel the anxiety coming from her through your mental link. The eyes of patrons are everywhere--how long will it be before someone notices?
You find a recently empty table and sit, side by side. Soon enough, a waiter approaches to take your order.
-----------------------
Kasha
Lia nods, glancing back at Sly as he makes himself comfortable on your pillow. "Let's go."
The snow-born half-elf tentatively takes your hand and bids you lead on.
-----------------------
Valeria
Ameiko settles on ordering some salmon with a side of mashed potatoes for the both of you.
"...have you ever gotten the feeling you're being watched?" The bardess asks as the waiter disappears back into the crowd. Her voice is low, and her eyes dart about.
Kasha Mvashti |
With a smile, Kasha leads Lia downstairs, giving her hand a little squeeze as they make their way into the busy dining area, looking for a table.
Friday Daud |
"Remember what I said when we came here? You have nothing to fear." he thinks to her reassuringly as they walk. Once seated he asks the waiter "May we please have the menu again?" "Or did you already know what you want?" he asks Zaiobe.
GM_Jadecat |
Friday
The waiter produces a menu for you and Zaiobe to share. The harpy gives you a reassuring smile before looking around at the milling patrons again.
<I was kinda hoping to give the spiced salmon a try.>
-------------------
Kasha
You and Lia go unnoticed to a free table near the stage. A pair of menus sit at the empty table, apparently abandoned in a hurry.
"Just so you know, I've never eaten at this place before, so I have no idea how good the food here will be." Lia takes a menu and sits next to you. "So... I think I might just have whatever you order."
Friday Daud |
"Okay, I think I'll try it too." he thinks while smiling as he looks over the menu and then back up at the waiter. "We'll both have the spiced salmon, please."
Valeria Skendar |
"Before we came here, I'd have said you were paranoid. But after that thing with Friday's cloak... well... starting to think your family's old enemies weren't content to just stay in Minkai."
Kasha Mvashti |
"Okay, I guess we'll find out together how good things are here. Do you like fish? Or would you rather soup?" Kasha asks smiling at Lia.

"Is there a particular reason you are not comfortable? Is it because of the events at the castle? Did you leave on bad terms?"
He asked calmly giving his best smile and trying to reassure her.
GM_Jadecat |
Kavell
Kelda's eyes look down at the table, then at the ceiling, seemingly everywhere but at your own eyes. "...the castle, yes. Not a fitting fate for a warrior. Not for the youngest born."
--------------------
Valeria
Ameiko is about to say something when your ordered meal comes by, settling onto the table before you. She seems quite interested in eating her fill, and doesn't say much of anything for the rest of the meal.
--------------------
Friday
The waiter gives Zaiobe an odd look before taking your menus back and disappearing into the crowd.
A few minutes pass before your spiced salmon arrives for the both of you, the mouthwatering smell of pepper and cumin ticking your noses. This time around, Zaiobe seems more inclined to actually use the utensils provided to her instead of just wolfing the whole thing down.
--------------------
Kasha
"Uh..." Lia looks over the menu, an expression of puzzlement appearing on her face. She digs into a pocket in her trousers, pulls out a copper piece and flips it...
1, Fish; 2 Soup: 1d2 ⇒ 1
...and it comes up heads.
"Fish it is."
Friday Daud |
Friday smiles back at her. "Me neither."
He then tilts his head slightly, thinking. "Probably nightfall, or even sooner, I'm not quite sure yet."
Kavell Speranta |
To Kelda
"I see, tell me more of your family please? I am sure they would love to hear of ... most of your adventures, did they know the party you went with well?
He began, ordering something to drink, something light preferably.
Kasha Mvashti |
Kasha smiles in amusement. "That'll be two orders of the spiced salmon please." she says to the waiter approaching their table.
GM_Jadecat |

"Hmm. Five brothers, Kelda remembers." She starts counting off on her fingers as you order a platter of steamed rice and mashed potatoes. "Wulfric, the oldest, hunts alongside a company of his own, facing down monsters that cross the mountains. They call him the Grey-Eyed Wolf."
"Osric, the Skald. The second boy, aspiring to sing sagas of great honour to King Sveinn Blood-Eagle. He and Wulfric are closer than any other in the family."
"Alvar, the Healer. He was... touched, in the head. Took a bad fall on his head as a boy, falling off his horse. Now, he claims that Our Lord in Iron speaks to him. Nice boy, but babbles nonsense in battle."
"Kelvim, the second youngest. The dutiful one. Minds the home with Father and Mother. Not given to battle rages like other warriors, but always there when you don't expect him to be."
"And, there's the youngest boy, Tornn. Studies *magic*, of all things. Good at the forge, so not completely an embarrassment."
"Mother and Father... not much of importance. Father works the forge with Tornn, Mother keeps the house."
----------------------
Friday
The harpy takes another mouthful of salmon and squirms in her seat a little. <Well, you really ought to get that cleared up. This sounds like the sort of task that needs that kind of thing, right?>
----------------------
Kasha
The waiter takes your orders, and after several minutes surrounded by noisy crowds, reappears bearing two dishes of spiced salmon and horns of mead. He sets them at your table and disappears back into the inn.
Lia takes her utensils in hand and tentatively carves off a piece of salmon to eat. She sniffs it, then pops it into her mouth...
...and after chewing it for all of three seconds, starts greedily wolfing down her fish. She's making pleasurable sighs of relief as she gobbles down her meal.
You've seen gulls with better table manners than her, really.
Friday Daud |
"You're right, I'll ask Valeria after we eat to see when we'll head out. I'm not the one who plans, I just follow orders... is everything okay?" he adds as he notices Zaiobe squirming in her seat.
GM_Zaiobe |
Friday
Zaiobe glances at you. <Oh, yeah, I'm alright. It's just... these chairs don't have any cushions. You'd think that for how successful this place is, they'd invest in comfortable dining chairs...>
She looks around the dining area, at the gathered patrons. Some of them don't take any notice of her at all, but here and there you can still see men and women staring at her--some with looks of confusion, some with curiosity in their eyes, and others with discomfort and distrust. To their credit, they don't make any moves to cause a scene, but their stares are felt all the same.
Friday Daud |
"Oh, here." he thinks before standing and taking off his coat to offer her as a cushion. After he starts to crane his head about "Can I help any of you?" he clearly says to all of the eyes.
GM_Zaiobe |
Friday
The eyes promptly dart back to their own affairs and say nothing.
Zaiobe lifts herself off her chair long enough to put your coat underneath her before she sits back down. <That feels a lot better. Thank you.>
She carefully takes another bite of her salmon. <I'm starting to think most people this far north have never even seen a harpy before.>
Friday Daud |
"You're welcome." he thinks as he bows before sitting back down and resuming his meal with Zaiobe. "Are Harpies common to the south? You are actually the first one I've ever seen."
Friday Daud |
Friday nods and smiles back, completely unperturbed by the predatory nature in her smile, if anything he found it endearing. "I'm from Ustalav so I can understand, kinda. Do the southerners see harpies as monsters or threats?"
GM_Zaiobe |
Friday
Zaiobe shrugs. <We're almost always seen as monsters. Whether we're seen as threats depends on how often we take flight to hunt.>
<Still, not all harpy tribes live out in marshes and the like. Some of us roost in cities like this.> She waves a hand around the room. <Well, not EXACTLY like this--it's too cold. But in a city like Kaer Maga, or even Absalom, we can make a life for ourselves so long as we keep our appetites restrained.>
Friday Daud |
Friday's thoughts erred for a moment, thinking how... sheltered people must be in these lands if they see a winged woman as a monster. Then the rest of what she was saying flowed in. Ah, I've heard of those, one a fortress, the other an island, I believe."
"Appetites? So Harpies do not have a taboo against eating people?" he adds, not put off in the slightest.
Friday Daud |
"Ah." he simply thought, he had been curious if she meant they liked to eat people when they had mates or specifically eating their mates. "Well I am thankful that you are not a fan of that tradition. I would miss you."
Friday Daud |
Just reread that, he didn't mean it as a threat, he meant he'd miss her cause, well, he'd be dead and eaten. I figure mental communication is a bit more coherent than verbal conversation.
Kasha Mvashti |
Suppressing a tiny smile, Kasha watches as Lia devours her food, looking around and sparing a glare at anyone expressing disapproval or judgement. If she'd gone days without eating, she would have a hard time controlling herself as well.
She eats her meal as well, savoring the flavors of the spices.
Valeria Skendar |
As Ameiko was focused more on the meal, Valeria decided to follow suit, if only to try and keep her mind of the theories she'd been forming about who they were facing. And that most of those theories were missing important details but that the ones that were there did not bode well.

He smiled, how could he not, she was so lovely.
"I wouldnt say magic is a thing to be ashamed of really, but I can see the hesistaion. I know we have something of a pressing matter to deal with but i believe we were moving in the cover of darkness. How far is it to you family?"
He asked between polite bites.
What time of day/evening is it?
Kasha Mvashti |
Unable to stifle a giggle, Kasha reaches for the pitcher on the table, pouring Lia a glass of water. "Maybe try to slow down just enough to breathe." she says giving her a wink. "Here drink a bit, it should help."

It's about 2:30 PM.
"Not far. Stone Quarter, a few streets away." Kelda looks over at the doors to the Hunting Serpent.

Valeria
Time seems to fly by as you and Ameiko finish your salmon. The bardess dabs the corners of her mouth with a napkin and licks her lips.
"So... think you should get the gang together now?" She leans in to whisper in your ear. "Or..."
---------------------
Friday
Before long, you and Zaiobe have finished your salmon. Impressively, Zaiobe has managed to eat the whole thing without making a great mess of it.
The main room of the Inn has grown quieter as patrons either leave or head upstairs. The harpy leans on you and closes her eyes in contentment.
---------------------
Kasha
Lia gratefully takes your offering of water and drinks it down. "Thank you. It's--well, it's the salmon. It's so tasty and I was so hungry..."
She pauses, looking down at herself. Then there's another "Hic!" Followed by another draft of water.
"Right." She busies herself with the rest of her salmon.
Friday Daud |
Softly smiling Friday contentedly sits there with Zaiobe laying against him, fidgeting for a moment in thought he finally gathers enough courage to lean over and kiss her forehead.
Valeria Skendar |
A light blush formed on Valeria's face, already seeing where Ameiko's mind was headed, and smiled. "Or?" she asked playfully, "Pray tell, what does the most alluring bardess of the continent have running through her mind?"
Kasha Mvashti |
Smiling warmly Kasha continues to eat as well, giving Lia a wink when she manages to look up form her meal.
