Worry starting to edge into his mind as he sees the Druid fall he lunges at the large goblin.


Gutwad cheers as he sees Marten fall. He offers something complimentary to the goblin who did it... right before Friday drives his spear into his back.

Haru opts to change tactics and throws a minor dazing spell at the one fighting Gryf... and this time, it works. The goblin stands still and starts drooling.

Ignoring Xel's commentary (though slightly surprised that he hadn't bolted already), Valeria kept up her mostly-ineffectual barrage of sub-zero rays. Throw enough crap at the wall... she thought to herself as she loosed another blast.

Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

You are resolving these shots against their Touch AC, right? Honestly, I'll take anything I can get at this stage if it means a better chance of hitting.

Gryf's swing goes wide, but Valeria's ray manages to connect with the goblin in front of Friday. This time, it connects with the little bugger's sword hand, causing the goblin to jump back and start gibbering in its language again.

"See? Was that so hard?" Xel pipes up again.

Gutwad bellows out another order before turning his ire on Friday. The goblins press the assault, with one goblin standing on the unconscious Marten to strike at the bardess!

Ranged Attack on Gryf (Into Melee): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 - 4 = 15
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
An arrow sticks into Gryf's shoulder...

Attack on Haru: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
...and the goblin that lunged at Haru misses wildly!

Attack on Friday (Broken Weapon): 1d20 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 2 = 4
Friday's opponent lunges at him again, trying to get past him and strike at the tiefling throwing freezing rays everywhere. It goes about as well as expected.

Gutwad glares madly at Friday, his anger distracting him from the battle at the front door. He takes aim with his wicked longbow and fires twice!

Ranged Attack on Friday 1 (Point Blank Shot, Rapid Shot, Into Melee): 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 9 - 2 - 4 + 1 = 12

Friday's spear finds its mark once more, driving deep into Gutwad's stomach... but the goblin chieftain clings to life, roaring in defiance!

"Remind me to get a crossbow when we get back." Valeria remarked to the others as she loosed another bolt of ice.

Valeria's aim is true this time--and she is rewarded with the goblin taking the frost ray to the eye. He screams in agony and collapses.

Xel can't resist. "Hell of a time to get a brain freeze."

Gryf is up!

Attack after attack Gryf continues his assult swinging at the small goblins.

Gryfs wounds again hampers his aim, as he begins to blindly swing.

With Haru's assistance, Gryf finally manages to cut down another goblin. His axe bites into the goblin's collarbone, dropping it atop his unconscious brother.

The dazed goblin shakes his head and shrieks a battle cry before swinging at Gryf again!

Attack on Gryf: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
And this time, his dogslicer clashes against Gryf's axe on the backswing, nearly taking the blade off at the hilt! The goblin looks down at his weapon, as if betrayed.

The goblin in the back aims his shortbow at the raging warrior...

Ranged Attack on Gryf (Into Melee): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 - 4 = 5
...and misses wildly, the arrow *THUDDING* into the roof of the hut.

Gutwad draws two more arrows and fires them at Friday, unwilling to give up the fight!

Might as well go with what worked already... Daze on the remaining goblin Haru can see (not Gutwad, she doesn't have LoS), DC 15 will save.

I don't think I targeted that one before. Maybe I'm getting goblins confused, I mean the one in the lower right corner of the room. Is it still up? Could you maybe remove the fallen goblins so we can see clearly which ones are active?

Gryf swings out again at the goblin in front of him he feels the adrenaline burning out of his body

Effortless as he swings to high, looking down at the body of his brother bloodied he knows they are defeated.

Unfortunately, Valeria's ray misses the chieftain, but not by much.

The goblin cheers as Gryf falls before leaping to attack the bardess with his broken weapon!

His glee causes him to miss wildly.

The goblin with the bow wanders about in a daze as Gutwad finally realizes how much danger he's in. He yanks out a vial of clear blue fluid and tries to pop the cork, leaving himself open...

AoO (Friday): 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 1 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 6 + 1 + 1 = 14
...and it's the last mistake the chieftain makes. Friday seizes the opportunity to strike him down with everything he's got, burying his spear in Gutwad's eye and sticking him to the wall of the hut!

As his heart pounds in his chest it's like a drum of war pushing him on, but it only fastens his demise as the adrenaline keeping him up starts to fade. Burning through his rage Gryf finds nothing on the other end but blood and death, falling down next to his brother he reaches out but is to weak.

The goblin's eyes widen as he hears Gutwad's death rattle, looking between Haru and the bloodied Friday. The goblin promptly shrieks in terror and runs off into the swamp.

Relieved, Haru immediately starts searching for potions that might cure the wounded, starting by searching Gutwad's body.

Friday's investigations of the other rooms yield something of interest. The first room he steps into appears to be Gutwad's bedroom. It's somewhat gaudily furnished, by goblin standards--many dog & horse skulls are mounted over a pile of furs that serve as a sort of bedding.

Just past the bedroom to the south is a room that is surprisingly sparsely furnished. The smell of mud and... other, fouler things pervades the room, stemming from a muddied chest against the south wall. Wiping away the mud reveals the beauty of the chest's design--it is made of red, lacquered oak wood with delicate engravings of cranes and frogs playing on a beach together decorating the lid.

Haru mutters a few arcane words as she examines the vials, and then gasps in relief. She hurries over to the two brothers, pouring the first vial down Marten's throat first.

So that's what the chief was trying to drink when Friday got him. Valeria thought to herself as Haru hurried the potions into the brothers. With that sort of urgency, it was a safe bet she'd figured out they were healing potions. Either that or she was working on panic and things were about to get worse, but her money was on the former.

With Gryf and Marten being tended to, she looked over the arrows the chief had been firing.

Looking over the exquisite chest in awe Friday wipes more of the grime away as he lifts it up and attempts to open it.

Marten coughs and splutters as he regains consciousness, the last of the potion sliding down his throat.

...Gryf... he says in a weak voice.


DC 15 Knowledge (Geography) for Anyone Who Wishes to Inspect The Chest/Haru:
Taking a closer look at the chest, you realize that its design is of Tian style. The image of cranes and frogs playing is a hallmark of something built in the province of Minkai.

Friday opens the chest to find several items inside, nestled snugly against the velvet interior lining. The items are:

--6 Masterwork shuriken
--329 SP and 112 GP in loose coins
--A long hairpin with a pearl at one end
--A gold-and-ivory fan depicting a gecko walking amid cherry blossoms

Upon closer inspection, it appears that the fan has some sort of crude map scribbled on the back of it...

Knowledge (Local) DC 15 to decipher the map.
