Okay, got Tikkik at least mostly done now. Not sure if some of this stuff is balanced, but I followed the templates pretty thoroughly.

Okay, so, using the rules in the campaign tab, I've actually got a lot more freedom to make Cephalon unique. I'll use the point buy to give him +4 int and +4 strength.

I might actually just drop the Advanced template and give him a 10th head. Thoughts?

Scarab Sages

The more heads the better, IMHO.

The Matriarch is turning into quite the ambush predator. :)

Scarab Sages

Actually, they already stated a 9 headed one and it's CR 10, so maybe 8 headed with a level of barbarian or something.

That's if he's a cryo/pyrohydra. Base hydras with 10 heads would be CR 9. I'd prefer to avoid the Advanced template, so I do like that better.

@Tikkik Could you stat Tikkik out as well as the W.M.D.? I think it would make sense for him to be a level 8 character--'lieutenant' level, basically. Most of the time it wouldn't matter, but if, say the W.M.D. were disabled, it would be good to have his stats.

Alright, 10 heads it is! And yeah, I didn't want Cephalon to be a variant hydra. Strictly speaking, the pyrohydra is probably better, since it loses one of its weaknesses, but I don't want to dilute the concept. He's just a particularly intelligent version of a monster that's not typically intelligent.

So, now that we know how many HD he's got, let's roll!

10d10 + 40 ⇒ (5, 5, 6, 7, 8, 7, 10, 8, 8, 2) + 40 = 106

Did we get a due date for this section of character building? 2 weeks?

Battlespy wrote:

That is correct. Though if everyone's finished early, I'll make a decision earlier.

Scarab Sages

I think two weeks, ya.

This is a link to the Google doc where I will be keeping everything. I'll post it here and and in my alias (which I'll create if chosen), but that will be the one stop shop.

There, Tikkik is statted out as well. Though, considering his extreme squishiness, he really prefers not to engage in battle personally.

Here is a mostly done Noxsuum. Should have some time tomorrow to finish things up on him. Dungeon is coming along, got to trim the fat so to speak. Alot of concepts but I don't think our DM wants a megadungeon. Not that I make any promises about it being close to it. ;)

Mostly got char stats up, and have some ideas for lair. How specific do you need those encounter locations, or is it more ideas so you can stat out a neat encounter?

Scarab Sages

The Matron and Dungeon has gotten their first passes!

Things have been pretty busy for me, but I should be able to give characters a good look tomorrow.

I Rebuilt Tikkik a little. Noticed that there were much better options for achieving the results I wanted. He's still really squishy, but should at least have some good utility use.

Scarab Sages

I've noticed that the matron is kinda underwhelming compared to some of the others, but I hope she's fun nonetheless. :)

Do we get traits? It doesn't mention them in the campaign tab, but I thought I'd ask.

Newbonomicon wrote:

No, no traits--they're far too humanoid-centric. =P

Scarab Sages

It's true. I looked into the Additional Traits feat, but found the selection very lacking for my purposes.

I think I've run into the problems of not enough time, not enough energy, and too ambitious.

Sorry, but I'm afraid I'll have to drop out. Good luck to all of you. Hope you guys have fun.

Awww, too bad.

Just posting interest. If there is still room I would love to put forth a submission.

Just so nobody thinks I've disappeared, I'm just letting Almonihah know that my gargoyle is almost ready. I still need to finish skills, equipment, and background. And the dungeon floor, of course. I'll update again when I have more completed.

I'm afraid recruitment is at phase 2, so past the point of accepting new applications.

I've glanced over everyone's submissions, but I haven't had as much time as I'd like to go over them (Okay, fine, I was playing Civ VI). I'll PM you comments as I'm able to get to them.

http://paizo.com/people/Brixton6l6ia

For my submission, char is done, just need to spend the time to describe lair.

Edit: Well, I mean I don't know what to do about equipment, but. Everything else on the character is good

Could you pick something else instead of the Advanced template? As I believe I've mentioned, I'd rather avoid the Advanced template. It could be interesting for him to have a level of Brawler or something similar. Looks good other than that thus far.

For equipment, you could have a Belt of Giant Strength custom-made to fit you, or a Ring of Protection, or something more exotic. Hunt around the magical gear options--I'll probably approve just about anything that seems interesting and unusual.

Oh woops sorry, didn't see that post. I'll find something else.

Probably not brawler though, since I don't think I'd actually gain much from it? Can't rake/natural attack with unarmed attack damage, as far as I know.

Brawler does a lot other than boosting natural attack damage--but I was just throwing it out there because it sounded interesting, not necessarily because it's the best idea.

Hey, does anybody know if there's a way to make items on a creature invisible, either at will or all the time?

Basically, a gargoyle can use stealth plus its freeze ability to make others think that it's a statue (e.g. the inanimate type of gargoyle). This is ruined if the gargoyle is wearing a belt or has an ioun stone floating around its head.

Almonihah, if there isn't an existing way to do hide items, is there any chance you'll let me design a custom magic item for this purpose?

Hmm... how about having them turn stony with you? So when you freeze, your gargoyle-ness makes them look like they're also made of stone.

Scarab Sages

That's essentially what would happen. Pathfinder doesn't really differentiate between you and your equipment most of the time. When you freeze your equipment is assumed to have become inconspicuous as well

Just don't buy a belt with "FAKE STATUE" inscribed on the buckle.

GM_Almonihah wrote:

Yeah, that would work. Or even just look like stone. If I can't find anything like that, can I create a custom magic item?

Choon wrote:

But nothing actually changes/transmutes/becomes illusory when a gargoyle freezes. The whole ability is just that it stays really still. A real person trying to stay still would breathe, sweat, might get an itch or have to sneeze, or may even flinch or dart their eyes. I think that the intent behind the freeze ability is that a creature gargoyle is visually indistinguishable to an inanimate gargoyle.

Battlespy wrote:

SAGE ADVICE! Along those same lines, I won't buy the ioun stone that looks like a downward-pointing arrow.

Well an ioun stone even if made to look like a normal rock is still going to orbit. Unless you have a western star ioun stone, then it renders all ioun stones invisible while giving you disguise self at will. Nice to have in general, makes all your other items disappear too if you want.

Noxsuum wrote:

Yeah, but I'm not trying to get every magic item slot filled, so I was just going to not worry about ioun stones.

However...

That sounds like a definite possibility! Just choosing to look like a non-bling gargoyle for the disguise self spell would solve the problem! Thanks!

That's a good solution.

Do you have any objections to Cephalon wearing armor? As a Huge nonhumanoid, armor should cost 8 times as much for him, but I'm pretty sure the cost of enchanting it remains the same. Unless, of course, you're opposed to the idea of an armored hydra, in which case I can probably find something else for him to get.

Armored hydra is cool. You just probably won't have any other items beyond your armor.

All right, my gargoyle is done. Following Almonihah's advice, instead of a rogue-like slayer, he's now a rogue.

Will finalize the dungeon floor, ASAP.

In what format and by what method would you like for us to give you our dungeon floors? I don't think they'll fit in normal posts...

Tikkik wrote:

I'm doing mine via Google Drawings, and perhaps have a "Dungeon Floor" section on my PC's profile with a key and further explanation.

Anything that I can access, basically. Google Drawings is probably what I'll be using to put everything together, but I can pretty easily drop any images you give me into Drawings myself.

I've come up for a design on paper, hopefully I'll manage to translate it to Google Draw soon enough.

If you can get a high-enough quality scan to be usable, that would be sufficient.

Yes, well, let's just say I didn't spend any skill points in Artistry... >.>

Hmmmm.... I think I overdid it a little with my dungeon floor. But there were just too many cool ideas!
Just need to get it scanned in now.

Dungeon is up. I left out gameplay details and I feel like I forgot something (I should add some more monsters) but this should be its final shape. Thank the Gods for online graph paper.

Looks great to me! I'm assuming the red corner passageways can rotate?

GM_Almonihah wrote:

Thank you! ^_^ Yes, they rotate Tetris-like pulling a lever in the corner. Of course the lever could get stole, or trapped, or replaced with something weird...

Alright, got Tikkik's dungeon and room key done!
