Begrilda Hammerhild |
Knowledge (religion): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Begrilda gazes around the filthy setting, a look of disgust on her face. She spots the statue of Hanspur and shakes her head. How fitting that a deity of the wicked would be venerated down here. Mr. Peppers brings her out of her internal monologue as he attempts to name the deity, "Hanspur. It's called Hanspur, and it's perfectly suited for this place. Disgusting."
As Bishop begins talking to the alchemist, Begrilda lays on hand on Acelyn. "Best be careful about the waters here. I know your type likes to get wet, but this probably isn't the place."
Cast Guidance on Acelyn.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
"Be careful around those vials too. That's the real stuff."
Mr. Peppers |
"HANSPUR THANKYOU, maybe now my brain can focus on something a bit more important!" Mr Peppers goes back to trying to concentrate on his spell, scanning the area for that glorious blue aura of magic.
GM Red |
So I wanted to point out that the bottle he was holding is refined whip because of Delroya's note indicating she needs a bottle of the unrefined stuff. More on that later.
Mr. Peppers is able to sense a few magical auras coming from a bottles of glowing liquid attached to Laszo's belt. The bottle of whip doesn't appear to be magical in nature, with no aura emanating from it.
Laszo frantically scratches his skin, an annoyed look on his face as Bishop speaks to him. "Questions. Yer asking far too many questions! Leave this place now ... Or don't! You'll be my next test subjects! HEHEHEHE!!" He pulls one of the glowing bottles from his belt and downs it in one gulp.
And we'll move to combat. Since you all do such a good job of posting frequently, I'll give you some time to roll for initiative yourselves. I also moved D and Acelyn out of the water because I had placed them in it when I first setup the map. :) Be mindful of it during combat.
Mr. Peppers |
"Those potions are magical, looks like we're in for a fight here!"
Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Bishop curses to himself So close but he had no time to worry about this because this man was about to bleed. And looking at this man's test subjects Bishop was going to make this as painful as possible.
initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Sirettis |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
"I do not say this often. But I will enjoy this."
Sirettis leaves herself wide open as she gloats.
Sir D. Arthraven |
Can i shoot a sand bullet at him when he's still saying 'you'll be my next test..
If so, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 191d6 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
GM Red |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Probably not, as you'd need to hear his words to realize it's a hostile act, and at that point, initiative is rolled. Either way, you go first. :)
Laszo: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Beetle: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
D is quick on his feet and launches a sand bullet. Laszo's sickly skin bleeds as the bullet slices his arm.
Laszo pulls a glowing effervescent potion from his belt and tosses it, targeting Mr. Peppers.
Bomb, range penalties: 1d20 + 4 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 2 - 2 = 141d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
4 splash to D and Acelyn, Reflex DC 14 to half
"HEHEHE! You're going to make the perfect lab rats! Isn't that right, Squiggles?" He looks over at his pet beetle affectionately.
Laszo (-7)
The Drug Alchemist, Round 1
Mr. Peppers (-4), Acelyn, Begrilda are up
Sirettis, Bishop
Fire beetle
Sir D. Arthraven |
Reflex: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
"That so, you gaijin dog?"
D. glares at him, as he makes a dodging move against the splash.
Mr. Peppers |
Mr Peppers recoils in pain from the fiery explosion. "What the heck did I do!" Mr Peppers quickly hauls out a well used wand, points and fires a glowing missile at the leprous Laszo. Wand of Magic Missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 Then looks around to figure out his next move.
Begrilda Hammerhild |

Begrilda rushes forward to stand behind Sirettis. "Be careful, my dear. This man is a dangerous one." She turns to look around at the rest of the group. "That goes for all of you," she roars as she raises her hand above her head. On her ring finger is a cheap wooden ring painted with a thin layer of chipped golden paint. A bead of colored glass is set into the center of the ring. Altogether, it resembles a child's imitation of a wedding band. Despite it's shoddy appearance, however, the ring suddenly glows with golden light, and a wave of swirling, golden rays suddenly erupt from it. Each of the rays wraps around one of the party members, and they suddenly feel ready to take on Laszo with renewed ferocity.
Cast Bless. +1 on attack rolls and saves vs fear. Flavor is fun! Just wait until I channel. :D
Sirettis |
Can I step past the addict without provoking?
Sirettis wants to get a closer look at the the Leper, but she's not sure if the man moaning at her side will act up or not.
Slumber Hex: Will Save DC 14 or fall asleep for 1 round.
GM Red |

The addict slowly holds out his hand as Sirettis passes him, pointing at her waterskin and groaning.
Will save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
After being blasted with Mr. Peppers' force projectile, Laszo is overcome with sleepiness as Sirettis stares him down. "So.. tired.. but I have to.. cook..." He falls to his knees and then forward, his face nearly dipping into the filthy sewage water.
Acelyn still has a shot he can take before Laszo falls asleep, and Bishop can also go
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
OMG so close to a CDG!!!!
Bishop's mouth drops as he watches the alchemist fall to the ground.
Great Redeemer...? Who are these people?
Not sure how long he has to act he draws a dagger concealed under his cloak and clumsily stabs the alchemist in his back. Quickly withdrawing his blade he takes a defensive stance ready for the beetle to protect it's master.
Combat Expertise so I have AC 18 now
dagger attack+bless+vs prone defender: 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 + 1 + 4 = 18
damage+sneak: 1d4 + 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 1 + (1) = 6
Begrilda Hammerhild |
As Laszo falls asleep, Begrilda calls out to the criminal standing next to the helpless man. "Bind him, Bishop! The man is despicable, but he is still a man, and he deserves to stand trial for his crimes. We have all the evidence we'll need to make sure he pays for his evil deeds."
Mwahaha! Sweet vengeance at last for that barbarian label on Gallix. Hahaha
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |

LOLOL. Well played.
Bind him?
He wondered where this dwarf came from. While law abiding he'd never met one that had concerns with killing an enemy in battle.
"We had better hope he doesn't get up his pet is ready to make a meal of me!"
Sir D. Arthraven |

"Ah, but that is a trivial matter.
If he is to pay for ruining the lives of who knows the number of others, i can make sure he pays with his own on the spot."
Practicality speaking here.
--------
I once got a PC i GM'ed for to make a deal with a devil....practicality ftw.
"But, this is a joined effort, so it's a majority's vote."
Sirettis |
Sirettis shrugs. "We need his notes and his unrefined material. Keeping him alive may make it easier to question him. Whether you decide to be an enforcer or executioner, do it quickly, he will recover soon."
Mr. Peppers |
What check would be needed to know if you could reasonably bring a man to justice in Diobel or to kidnap him back to Absalom for trial. Legally would either work? For all I know the laws in Diobel could be very lax or nonenforceable and the laws in Absalom could prevent 'forcible extradition'. I guess something to do with laws or local knowledge
Knowledge: Local if needed: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
The problem is he hasn't really committed any crime in Absalom. Diobel his only crime is testing on these men. He might have created the drug but he is not distributing it and it isn't actually illegal to sell drugs in Golarion it would seem. Alright Red improvise time!
Begrilda Hammerhild |
Yikes! Looks like I poked the bear with this question. If it would be easier, we could definitely just go about taking Laszo out. I was just RPing what Begrilda would hope for, which is a) a very strictly lawful good way of viewing the situation, and b) a very gullible way of seeing the situation. She's not much of an adventurer. Not yet anyway. So we can definitely just kill the dude and get what we need from his stash, I just wanted to play Begrilda honestly.
GM Red |
Mr. Peppers gets the idea that using people as test subjects for an addictive drug with deleterious effects isn't something Diobel's guards would take lightly. If only you could somehow prove to the guards that Laszo had tested his substance on these addicts, and at the same time not rouse too much suspicion with the Consortium in doing so...
Remember that you're sort of working undercover here - no one knows that you're Pathfinders, and as Valsin said, several high profile Diobel locals are in the pockets of the Kortos Consortium. You probably wouldn't want to attract too much attention.
Mr. Peppers |
"Just crack him on the head good with the butt of your dagger Bishop and we can decide what to do with him and his 'subjects'. I don't condone defenseless slaughter and I know for sure the Society doesn't either. Sirettis' sleeping trick only lasts for a few moments so be quick about it!"
Mr Peppers then trains his wand on the 'pet' beetle in case it gets hostile. "There is a delicate line here to tow between morality, legality and subterfuge... we best make our decisions wisely."
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Sorry I didn't think combat was over. There was Laszo's pet beetle who's giving me the I'm hungry eyes. If it is I'll continue the convo otherwise lets stomp his bug...the dwarf is alright with that right? lol. BTW play her the way you think she looks at the world it only adds to our roleplaying.
Mr. Peppers |
BTW play her the way you think she looks at the world it only adds to our roleplaying.
I want to second Bishop with this.. ALWAYS play your character how that character acts according to its stat sheet, history, how you have them in your head. Characters are just dice rolls if you don't roleplay out their actual 'character'. Some intra-party conflict only enhances the game.
Sir D. Arthraven |
Fine :)
Sith tendencies coming up.
"No escape for you, poison brewer."
D. aims a sand bullet at the poisoner.
Impact: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (2, 4) + 10 = 16
That's a DC 26 fort or death.
He looks up to Mr. Peppers.
"Defenseless slaughter, is what you say.
There is a difference, between killing a room full of the sleeping sick, and the disposal of a harmful individual who until just now, was trying to kill us."
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Sith shot for the win! Murderer Uesugi might have to start calling you Shinobi from now on D!!
Bishop barely catches sight of the pebble as it embeds itself into the slumbering form of Laszlo. Still holding onto his dagger he waits for the beetle to make its move.
Begrilda Hammerhild |
Begrilda is totally aghast at D's brutality, but reserves her reprimand for a more quiet moment. For now, there is still a rather large and disgusting beetle walking around near the alchemist's materials. They would have to deal with it to make sure they could safely recover the unrefined whip and any other evidence they could find.
Sorry, I totally lost track of where we are in initiative. Could you catch us up, Red?
Edit - Red ninja'd me! Thanks for the heads up. :)
Mr. Peppers |
Coup de Grace: As a full-round action, you can use a melee weapon to deliver a coup de grace (pronounced "coo day grahs") to a helpless opponent. You can also use a bow or crossbow, provided you are adjacent to the target.
You automatically hit and score a critical hit. If the defender survives the damage, he must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + damage dealt) or die. A rogue also gets her extra sneak attack damage against a helpless opponent when delivering a coup de grace.
Delivering a coup de grace provokes attacks of opportunity from threatening opponents.
You can't deliver a coup de grace against a creature that is immune to critical hits. You can deliver a coup de grace against a creature with total concealment, but doing this requires two consecutive full-round actions (one to "find" the creature once you've determined what square it's in, and one to deliver the coup de grace).
Not to be a rules stickler, but CDG are pretty hard to do usually, Sirettis' hex will usually only provide for one assuming there is a person in melee with the target. Doing one from range apparently isn't possible, especially auto hitting a prone target with that AC bonus -Dex penalty. Besides, things can get a bit more interesting if we try to take him alive, or perhaps Bishop will make the attempt anyhow. Either way, will be fun to watch and see the outcome.
Acelyn Chasseur |
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Acelyn aims his large crossbow at the beetle and fires, but it catches funny and goes off in another direction.
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 1 = 8
GM Red |
Thanks for that Mr. Peppers. I was about to let that CDG go through, but if that's RAW, that's RAW.
Laszo is rudely awakened in confusion as Bishop slides his dagger into his back.
The fire beetle's small size helps it evade Acelyn's bolt.
It flares brightly for a moment, covering the immediate ten feet near it in bright light.
Acelyn and Bishop, make a Fort Save DC 12 or be dazzled for 1d3 ⇒ 2 rounds
Coughing up some blood as he trembles in pain, Laszo pulls out a potion and chugs it down.
Peeking, are we? :): 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (2, 1) + 1 = 4
Laszo (-11, prone)
Laszo (prone)
The Drug Alchemist, Round 2
D (-2, can't CDG, so you can change your action), Mr. Peppers (-4), Acelyn (-2), Begrilda are up
Sirettis, Bishop
Fire beetle
Mr. Peppers |
Mr Peppers survey's the situation and feels uneasy about the large beetle so close to this new Undine recruit. Bishop seems to have the alchemist under control. He steps forward and begins chanting and weaving a spell then points at the beetle. A light misty looking substance appears in the air then settles down to the ground, coating the beetle and everything between it and the crossbowman with a slick gel.
Pink square, used a point of arcana to up the reflex save DC from 14 to 15. Also, is there any knowledge checks available for the beetle?
Sir D. Arthraven |
D. tries to jump the trrench, 5ft to the other side diagonal.
Acro, jump the trench, DC 10: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Aught to suffice.
He walks past Mr. Peppers and the addict.
Sand bullet vs evil poisoner: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 181d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Fort save: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Bishop stumbles back as the beetle's glands flare. He watches in frustration as Laszo drinks down the unknown contents of a vial unable to do anything. His thoughts cloudy all he can do is stand there in a defensive position.
turn done. beetle's action was last in Rd 1 so I can't make aoo. Laszo will get his next time!
Mr. Peppers |
Dazzled is just a penalty to hit, I think you're thinking of Dazed.
Dazzled: The creature is unable to see well because of overstimulation of the eyes. A dazzled creature takes a –1 penalty on attack rolls and sight-based Perception checks.
Begrilda Hammerhild |
Begrilda glances around the battlefield, at a loss for what she should do. In her distress, she begins to wring her hands and subconsciously whispers a prayer to Bolka, Oh Faithful Maiden, what do I do?" Her ring glows once more with a gentle radiance, and the young dwarfess suddenly realizes what she must do. She turns around, runs a few paces, then tries to launch herself across the filthy stream to stand behind the elven mage.
Cast Guidance on myself, then try a running jump across the stream. This should go well.
Long jump, Guidance: 1d20 - 5 + 1 ⇒ (13) - 5 + 1 = 9
I'll go ahead with a Fort save. Do I also need a swim check?
Fort Save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 Additional +2 if the save is against poison
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
Ohhh well then!!! Ignore above post!
A bright flashes from the beetle's glands before Bishop can cover his eyes filling the dark, fetid tunnels with intense yellow blotches. He squints his trying to focus on what is happening and then sees the hazy form of Laszlo stirring. He watches as the alchemist reaches for something...What is it?...something dark...Not a weapon....Laszlo brings the dark object to his mouth...a VIAL!
Bishop stabs again at Laszlo cursing at his weak attempt last time.
AoO Dagger stab+vs prone+bless: 1d20 + 4 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 + 1 = 14
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
GM Red |
Resolving in order of Bishops AoO -> D -> Mr. Peppers -> (Acelyn has not gone yet) -> Begrilda
Laszo rolls his leprous body out of the way as Bishop stabs at him with his dagger. "Hehehe! That's right, Squiggles, get 'em!"
D leaps across the sewage water and launches a sand bullet at the prone alchemist, but his aim is off.
You're able to recognize the creature as a flash beetle, a variant of a fire beetle. It's able to fly, bite, and use its bioluminescence to blind its foes.
Reflex, beetle DC 15: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 How 'bout that DC boost?
The beetle's tiny legs slip on the greasy floor and it falls on its abdomen, chittering as it struggles.
Begrilda loses her footing on the ledge as she tries to jump across and she falls into the filthy water. Although she's probably upset about getting dirty, she's able to stave off any negative effects of the sewage.
@Begrilda: No swim check is needed unless Begrilda somehow falls prone in two feet of water. :)
Acelyn is up. Sirettis and Bishop may pre-post their actions.
Bishop 'The Dark Augur' |
oops forgot to put the -1 in my attack last round
"Your time is up, Laszo. The Consortium no longer has any need for you. Why else do you think they sent us down here?" Bishop smiles at Laszo as while the leper rolls around on the filthy stone and then stabs at him while maintaining a cautious stance.
still using combat expertise so AC 18
bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Acelyn Chasseur |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Acelyn closes his eyes just in time, and then retaliated against the beetle.
Crossbow Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 6 + 1 = 17
Damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Mr. Peppers |
How 'bout it is right! Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
I guess Mr Peppers has a love of beetles that I never knew of... all those years watching Nat Geo are finally paying dividends.
Seeing the beetle crash onto the dank floor Mr Peppers does a mini fist pump and smiles I know them better than they know themselves! He then hears some huffing and puffing, followed by a splash and wet spray on the back of his neck. He spins around, wand in hand ready to blast, only to see a dripping and frustrated Begrilda, mascara running down her rounded cheeks. "What is it with agents spraying me with foul liquids? I thought I was about to get blind sided by one of these test subjects, this is no time for shenanigans!"
