After preparations, you head down a long hallway towards the main arena. The crowd's cheers increases in volume as you near the entry gate. A gong is slammed and the gate rises. Stepping out onto the muddy arena grounds, the cheers begin to crescendo.

Seconds later, a warhorn sounds, and two massive six-headed monsters slither out of the opposite gate, stopping only when a large chain around their collective tail pulls tight. Tongues of flame flash out of their mouths, the heat so intense you can feel it from where you stand some 60 feet away.

The Master of Games stands on a podium in between eastern crowd. "Ladies 'n gents, welcome ta the eighth season of the Serpent's Run! Do these six brave warriors, 'n tha tiny bird 'ave what it takes ta defeat these two wretched serpent monsters?" The crowd cheers wildly, with some distinct boos in between it all. Must be Aspis. "I won't leave ya hangin'! Ready? FIGHT!" He throws a red flag in the air, and two guards slam an axe on the chains stopping the hydras from moving further. It's on!

Sirettis claps her hands "We fight for your enjoyment! Lavish us with your praise! Watch as I, Esmerelda, raises a cloud of thick vapors to befuddle these hydras!"

Sirettis creates a Fog Cloud in the coliseum and flies behind a pillar. "Go, my friends! Use the cover to outwit these foolish snakes! They're almost as bad as Aspis, but a lot more handsome, I must add!" She laughs.

Gallix charges forward, passing through the edge of the mist to gain concealment from the pyrohydra and avoid its many snapping jaws. As he moves in, the red smoke of his mutagen puffs through his lips. "I'm comin' for ya, beastie," he shouts loud enough for the crowd to hear, "Me and my gang, the Red Arm of Absalom!" As he emerges from the mist, he ducks and doges around the heads, weaving this way and that, crossing one neck over the other until they are all wound around one another in a dizzying knot.

Before the magical energy of the haste spell has completely left his fingers, Mr Peppers watches the first hydra hit the deck Hrm, so much for keeping this up for almost a minute...

He lets his energetic feet take him up to the pillar, pulling out his crossbow as he motors. He leans up against the column for stability, focuses on one of the heads of the green hydra, before touching the trigger: CLICK! "Heh heh, who turned my safety on there..." He buries his head up against the rock pillar in embarassment. Why did I ever buy this damned thing! Its got a Dwarven curse on it I swear!

Sirettis flies up and over the mist, 20 feet up in the air. She points her finger at the hydra.

"Well then, with a snap of my fingers, I will make the hydra cower like a baby! Do you find these colors... revolting?"

Sirettis spins in the air and casts her magic upon the hydra.

I'm casting Unadulterated Loathing on the Hydra, with myself as the target of revulsion. Will Save DC 19 to resist!

Cup can tell the hydra on the ground hasn't died yet, but isn't stable! She also knows that being many-headed hydras, it's possible to target their heads separately from their bodies using the Sunder maneuver.

D blasts the beast with a lesser ball of energy, while Uesugi fires a single arrow at it.

Does Sirettis want to instead use Healing Hex on the downed hydra, or still cast Unadultered Loathing?

Healing Hex on the Red Hydra, sure. Please make sure I'm 10 feet away from it. My Prehensile Hair hex gives me 10 feet of natural reach.

Gallix takes the full brunt of the pyrohydra's breath, but only feels a small amount of the flames sear his skin as Mr. Peppers' magical life-force absorbs most of the heat.

"Are you not entertained?!" Gallix shouts as he turns to the crowd. "Then perhaps we should make this fight a bit more interesting!" He rushes ahead aims a fist at the spot where the beast's numerous necks join its body. "A quick punch to the throat can't feel good when you've got six of 'em feeding into your gut!"

Damn! That's a lot of heads! Gallix winces as he steps to the side and a fair bit of blood seeps out onto the sand of the arena. Fighting through the pain, he faces the pyrohydra standing in his face and swipes some blood from his lips. "Alright, big guy, that wasn't too bad. But I tell you what, you're not the only one here who can throw down a bunch of hits! Let me just show you why we're called the Red Arm of Absalom!" With unrestrained fury, Gallix throws punch after punch at the hydra's body, his fists flying so fast that his arms in their red sleeves turn to red blurs.

I think it may be too meta to know how often exactly the breath weapon recharges. I can tell you 1d4 rounds, but not the result of that roll.

The hydra resists Sirettis' spell, then one head reaches for her leg as she flees.
Bite: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 111d8 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7

With determination on his face - and in his fists - Gallix hops left and right, uppercutting one hydra head furiously while jabbing another. The beast is overcome with pain and slumps over, a large tremor tearing through the ground.

"And now they've taken out another hydra! Are we entertained? Ya bet we are!" The Master of Games cheers along with the crowd.

Uesugi manages to hit the red-frilled hydra once, though it doesn't hurt enough to knock it back out.

Uesugi, Gallix, and D take turns knocking the hydra out each time it awakens, while Cup dances laps around the coliseum while singing in joy. Laughs and cheers cascade over the crowd as the battle extends on for nine rounds before the Master of Games finally calls it.

"Wha' a display! Wha' an absolute debacle!" The dwarf shouts, heading down from the podium to congratulate you. "As promised, here's yer reward!"

Sheila rebriefs you on Dymal Rinks. "While we’re not sure how much of a threat Dymal Rinks poses to our winning the auction, we don’t want to take any chances. Our informants tell us that Rinks owes a considerable debt to the proprietor of the Matador, Master Basaale Minvandu. Short on the funds to cover his debts, Dymal Rinks hopes to cash in on the Runecarved Key as part of a wild investment scheme. Unfortunately for Rinks, Minvandu wants his debts paid immediately and has sent his collectors to track the halfling down. I suspect we can easily knock Rinks out of the auction by turning him over to Minvandu’s thugs. Still, I’m a little wary of this course of action as handing Rinks over to the bone-breakers may very well result in his death. Despite being a desperate little imp, Rinks is a decent arbitrator and if word gets back that we played a part in his death, it might make things difficult in the future. If you can avoid getting him killed it might help. Perhaps you can pretend to be thugs and scare him off or simply threaten to rat him out to Minvandu if he doesn’t back out of the auction. In any event, do whatever you need to do to drive him away. Oh, and he lied about his whereabouts. Our informants say he’s hiding out at the Galesford Inn in Dockway."

With that in mind, you make for the Galesford Inn, a small, humble hotel in Dockway. Inside, the main doors are flanked by two wooden chairs and a round coffee table. Behind the front counter stands a young woman with the height of a gnome, but the ears of an elf. Her violet hair is tied back in a neat bun. She smiles brightly as you enter. "Welcome to the Galesford Inn. Would you like a room?"

Sirettis grins. "I hope, friend, that you can tell me where one Dymal Rinks is. I know he values his privacy, but he also values my time."
