Mr. Peppers |
It wasn't without any blood shed!! I'm just happy that it looks like I'll survive. A good character building moment. All adventures deserve at least one near death experience before a 'full' death experience, to help build their character :)
On a side note.. wow its like late March out there now, good syrup making weather, mid 20s and sunny morning that's going to warm up into the high 30s. Wish we had this Sat and Sunday!
Sirettis |
I was planning to heal Mr. Peppers, but it does look like I'll be better off finishing this goblin. Squish!
Cup |
It looked like neither Gallix nor Uesugi needed my help to hit! Still, I wanted to make certain that both their blows landed. That abomination wasn't going to hurt my Pep!
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Harharhar... Well done, D!
Also, Sirettis, your hair is giving me chills! Awesome stuff!
Sirettis |
Thanks. Her hair is much more expressive than her stoic self. But yeah, I just thought about a 10 foot long mass of hair strong enough to clobber some poor goblin's chest. What a way to go, brrr.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
Everytime I read a post about Sirettis' hair all I can think about is Medusa from the Inhumans.
Great posts as always guys.
Sir D. Arthraven |
I can't shake the Syndel vibe.
Of course Sirettis is kinder and younger....and doesn't scream your skull to smithereens.

I'm loving these character references. I've always thought about Medusa's living hair and wondered if she talks to them from time to time.
I wasn't thinking about the Yuki-onna when I made this character, but too much of it lines up with Sirettis's powers.
When I thought of her character and personality several years ago, I thought up an automation trained to manipulate and seduce humans despite having no feelings Basically, a P-zombie. When she finally meets someone who wants her to emote, she can only react through her hair.
Cup |
Sirettis, there is still time for you to get a creepy doll familiar. But you would have to play or GM a certain scenario to do it.
That whip has been surprisingly useful...
Hmm
Sirettis |
Wait, I think I have that scenario...oh, I do. I GMed that, it was a lot of fun.
Man, this Goblin is invincible...I'll have to go to plan C.
Sirettis |
Take a look at the Twisted Circle, 7-12.
Mr. Peppers |
If you put that gobs head on a wall D I think she'll liven the place up, that stand was worthy of some remembrance.
I find it hilarious that Mr Peppers just screwed up his wand... damn nat 1s. 24hr hiatus!
Sirettis |
UMD giveth, UMD taketh.
GM Hmm |
UMD giveth, UMD taketh.
My -1 has gotten to the point where all wands autotrigger for her. Ranger wands, paladin wands... it does not matter.
She tells people cheerfully, "Vands just like me. You should talk nicer to yours. It helps."
Mr. Peppers |
Never could get into hockey for some reason, seems like an exciting sport too.
Hmm: Doesn't UMD still fail on a natural one without some sort of class ability that allows taking 10?
Sir D. Arthraven |
UMD is one skill you can't take 10 on, and that nat 1 screws you over for a day. :P
GM Hmm |
Not if you have a +19 in UMD.
Try Again: Yes, but if you ever roll a natural 1 while attempting to activate an item and you fail, then you can't try to activate that item again for 24 hours.
If you have a +19 in UMD you can never fail unless something happens to alter your skills or Charisma that round. All wands love you.

Cup and her player will be off today running a storytime and then doing school visits in which she will help bored high school students with using databases for their history day projects -- and try to get them excited despite themselves. She will be AFK all day.
Bot me for skill checks and everything else. Remember that I have chronicles and a wand of Kreighton's Perusal that I will happily use on my self or others.
Hmm
Mr. Peppers |
Excellent, never really picked up on the 'and you fail' part. Good to know. Mr Peppers will be a UMD fiend, since.. well... how can you be a master of magic if you can't even use it all?
As far as taking ten, I'm aware normally you can't with that skill but assumed there was some archetype out there somewhere that give you that ability. I also was thinking about the skill unlocks in unchained but those just allow you to keep making checks with penalty if you roll a 1, as well as being able to assist someone.
All in all, UMD in PFS seems to be very worthwhile with all of the consumables found and the lack of a monetary penalty for making use of them whenever possible.
On that note, does anyone need those alchemist fires? They're pretty decent damage at our level still... just not too great vs bile infected stuff :(
GM Red |
Argh because of the many posts? :)
By the way, guys, if I'm ever moving too fast, let me know and I'll adjust how I run things. I could have had a few posts between entering the cave (for example, approaching the entrance, watching the scene, and then actually entering) and starting combat, but the way I saw it was that the bugbear would have sniffed you out the moment you approached.
Sirettis |
Well, I'm ARGHing over the number of badguys in the cave. And we can't wait or Nixa will be goblin chow!
Mr. Peppers |
Ha! Ya not a great time to be a squishy... These nice aoe spells... but all require close range... Looking through the lvl 2 spells.. not super impressed with damage spells there either!
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
I'm ARGHing because I have to get my character into Gallix's game before you leave the Wisp!
GM Red |
Yeah, I understand. I didn't personally adjust this encounter at all. I made the level 2 adjustments that were written in the PDF (adding the rider and the dog) but otherwise, it's a CR 5 encounter for a level 2 party, or an Epic encounter, but we've got some level 3s to round it out, and Nixa being a participant lowers the CR as well.. Probably closer to CR 4. Still tough but doable!
Mr. Peppers |
Heh not a good day for me to be out all day fishing... please bot me. Lots of magic missiles, at least till things get a bit settled!
Mr. Peppers |
I'm back! Sorry for the awol, up at 4:30am to head fishing.. home finished cleaning fish and showered... 10pm. Long but successful day!
2 Lake trout: 6lbs, 5lbs
6 Cusk/Burbot: 2-5lbs!
Biggest I've ever caught, can't wait for eating and smoking!
Game stuff...
Thanks for the bot Uesugi, glad I didn't really need to help, dumb goblins are a good thing, and you guys' rolls were mostly all spot on!
Cup |
Heh. I posted from a brief roadstop. Feel free to bot me the rest of the weekend. Huge Hmm
GM Red |
With this module soon wrapping up, please let me know if anyone is taking slow advancement for their second chronicle.
Overall, this one was a lot more combat-focused than the first. I felt it could have used a little more enemy variety (maybe some hobgobs) to mix it up.
If you feel so inclined, I took a page out of chadius/Sirettis' book and made a short survey here. It's only 8 questions, multiple choice, and anonymous. I'm always looking to improve and it's good to get honest feedback. This is completely optional, of course.
Sir D. Arthraven |
Huh, interesting.
I should've done one of those when i started being on the GM side of the screen.
Sir D. Arthraven |
Gallix, Sirettis, Uesugi, (since Cup said she's very busy) how full are your taxes gamewise, would you say?
There's a homebrew dungeon i need playtested, and 2 out of 5 haven't reported in, after a week's notice of me opening gameplay.
Cult crushing, before they invoke the end of the world.
On board: ranger with a snake, inquisitor and a drunken barbarian specced on dirty tricks. Of which i'd prefer i get no extra. ^^
The party is lvl 7.
Lvl 7 PC
15k worth of gear.
Core races, core & base classes.
20 point buy, no 3rd party material.
Sirettis |
I have a lot of games active, but I'm also a glutton for punishment. Sounds like you are looking for arcane, divine or a skill monkey. I have a few level 7 character ideas I may bake later today.
Sir D. Arthraven |
One of them will be coming, he'll be a sorcerer.
Red, if there's 2 posts per day, 1 to 2 months tops, i reckon.
At that level, party dmg output is high after all.
GM Red |
I think anyone who's level 3 needs to slow track or they'll be out of subtier for the third module.
I don't know what the final word was for online chronicles, but Hmm had said that even online ones now need to be fully filled out. If you guys can give me any information that I'm missing, I can make sure your sheets are filled.
That is:
Chronicle #
Starting XP
Initial Prestige (=final prestige from last chronicle) and Fame
Prestige spent
Starting Gold (=final gold on your last chronicle)
Gold Spent
Cup |
Yep, it will be more work, but Jesse is determined to get us all of online with orderly chronicle sheets. Let me get Cup up to date. I will try to get the information to you later today if I can, between Con slots.
And yes, Cup is slow-tracking!
Hugs
Hmm
Sirettis |
Chronicle #: 4
Starting XP: 5
Initial Prestige (=final prestige from last chronicle) and Fame: 3, 5
Prestige spent: 0 (I've spend 0 Prestige during this scenario, I've spent 2 overall so far)
Starting Gold (=final gold on your last chronicle) : 2355
Gold Spent : 66
Sir D, sounds like a skill monkey or a divine user would help round out the party. I'll work on a Skill Monkey.
GM Red |
Thanks Sirettis. No one likes the paperwork part of PFS, but there's something to be said about good, organized bookkeeping.
And I just realized it was silly to ask for your initial prestige and starting gold since I wrote your last chronicles and can get those from there... I do need everything else, though.
Mr. Peppers |
I'm slow tracking this one, then regular speed for the next one.
Mr Peppers - PFS # 202046-3
XP 7 | PP 6 | Fame 12 [I've spent a total of 6PP, 3 wands]
Faction: The Grand Lodge
Starting Gold (=final gold on your last chronicle)
Gold Spent (I spent 301.5g on a new MW light crossbow due to the 10% discount and selling my old xbow, I think I bought 10 CI bolts too...)
