Gallix: Better living through chemistry!
Hahaha! True enough!
Mr. Peppers |
Ya there's a very hard balance at low levels with an alchemist about spending combat rounds buffing and the low duration's of your longer buffs. Hard to juggle effectively.
Sirettis |
I do have a vial of antitoxic.
This fire resist is gonna be a pain, especially against the swarm.
Mr. Peppers |
Ya I've got antitoxin too, and normally Peppers would dose ahead of time if he thought he would need to be dealing with the vile little vermin.. or just lather up in vermin repellent.. but I guess from now on he will be. And yes fire resistant swarms at level 1-2 is pretty mean. Acids anyone?
Mr. Peppers |
Damn where is everyone today.. its Friday lunchtime! Need something other than lunch to get me through the rest of this day/week!
Cup |
I wish that Cup had acid. She doesn't. Shodan test tonight and I am GMing the second part of Feast of Dust tomorrow, so I'm starting the process of map drawing today. This is another mind-blowingly large map. Why do we need such large maps for this Module?
Ah well. Back to drawing.
Oh! Also obsessing on the subjects of familiars. I'm thinking of trying out a mascot familiar for this group... Just because it's CUP, and everything about her is helpful, even her buddies!
Hmm
Sirettis |
We may have to kill the spider, then flee the warehouse and hope the swarm scatters.
Cup |
We may. I wonder if Miss Pricknettle's shop is still open?
Mr. Peppers |
Hmm: Don't the modules come with pregenerated maps?
Spiders: Another possible option that we may have at our disposal is holy water. I don't have any but it may work on these things if they've been changed into 'evil outsiders' aka demonzzz. Either way, Mr Peppers will need to buy up some acids from our alchemist friend. Mr Peppers can always roast the little buggers again and hope they fail their reflex save like last time.
Uesugi Hideyoshi |
I was thinking the same thing. One of the reasons why I asked about aids he could provide us.
Lesson to self: Take your own advice!
Cup |
Modules do come with maps... which I then have to draw when I'm doing them for a face to face group. Some of these maps get a little crazy with the small details in them.
Hmm
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Whoa! That is one big cussin' map! Looks good, though!
As for the present combat, I'm trying to decide between putting on the vermin repellant or chucking in my Alchemist's Fire, despite the reduced effectiveness. Gallix is definitely making a bee-line for the first place he can buy some antitoxin after this, though. Man poisons are making his life difficult tonight! Haha
Peppers, I guess I'm fairly lucky in comparison to those low level alchemists because the mutagen is the only alchemical ability I have, so I don't have to think too much about other buffs. It's just a matter of deciding when to use the mutagen that's the trick. It's a once per day ability, which is also tough, since that makes it a one-shot (and usually one-fight) ability unless we get back to back combats like we did in Skykey Solution.

Hmm: Ha that's excellent! Certainly nicer than the on the fly scratch I was doing for the home Runelords game I was doing. Maps add a lot to the game. Does Paizo play nice with maps for Roll20?
Gallix: Can you not mix up another mutagen in an hour like alchemists if you have the time to do so? My mindchemist is nearing the level where his cognatogen turns to an hr/level duration.. sweet jeezus I can't wait.
Also, I've never seen so many poor fort save rolls vs poison in one adventure in my life! Most of us have at the very least a 50/50 shot on passing the save and we're not even close to that so far.
Sirettis |
If I start making Fort Saves we have officially entered bizarro land.
Mr. Peppers |
Ya Mr Peppers isn't as bad off as Sirettis, he doesn't have a negative con and he has his nice shiny cloak of resist +1 for that staggering +1 overall bonus. I guess I'll just need to do some prepotting of antitoxins. Been playing an alchemist too long... poison? I LOVE to drink poison!
Sir D. Arthraven |
He/she has the discovery to drink and dicharge by touch, then?
Mine has taken that. I will ask my GM if i can fill a bottle of the most disease ridden liquid we can find, and use it on people i don't like.
Either villains or slavers.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Gallix: Can you not mix up another mutagen in an hour like alchemists if you have the time to do so? My mindchemist is nearing the level where his cognatogen turns to an hr/level duration.. sweet jeezus I can't wait.
I am stupid and totally did not read the ability as something that could be done multiple times in a day, given adequate time to do so. Hahaha! So, in answer to your question, yes, I could do that, and I just forgot because my nearest class/role equivalent in real life is apparently the Big Dumb Fighter.
Mr. Peppers |
I haven't taken that D, I guess I was more speaking to the bonus to saves vs poisons followed up by immunity at a fairly low level. I'm glad to see that using poison in PFS isn't a no no. Luurg (internal alchemist) will be a poison user... he's actually got some on him right now waiting for the right time to use it!
Gallix: Ha I thought maybe you missed something. Its very rare that I remix a batch in the same day but I have convinced the group to take a long lunch before. Its a very significant buff in the 'alchemical' tag that stacks very nicely with magic and morale buffs.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
@Red: Sorry if I was being obnoxious about the saves. I was getting a bit worked up about the poison. Gotta remember it's just a game sometimes, ya know?
GM Red |
No worries at all. I get worked up about similar stuff. I loathe ability score damage, especially when it matters, like strength on a martial character.
I didn't buff these spiders at all and I don't think I'll be buffing any more enemies, at least not when they can poison. The challenge level seems appropriate with just the level 2 adjustments from the PDF.
Mr. Peppers |
I got plenty of time to roll along tonight! Lets truck us some vermins/biles/stuff! Those cookies and tea on the ride home really kicked up my energy level too!!
GM Red |
Yeah, I probably got ahead of myself. Friday nights/weekends aren't usually heavy posting times...
I'll be around either way.
As far as alchemical weapons go, Blaster's got five more flasks of acid from Gellion's house, and I believe a few of you probably have alchemist's fire although it has limited effectiveness against fiendish creatures.

I got my black belt this evening!
Yay!
Hmm
Sirettis |
Congrats!
Mr. Peppers |
Well done! Do you use a staff like Morgan in Walking Dead? Or am I mixing up styles here... I know nil about that stuff.
Gorgeous Gallix Granbonne |
Congrats, HMM! Remind me not to get on your bad side! :P
Sir D. Arthraven |
You have no idea, Gallix.
While i know of some locks, i'm quite sure she knows many more that are equally, if not more, unpleasant.
Eh Cup? ^^
Cup |
D, the nickname for Yonkajo locally is "Ow" Control! Just because it doesn't do permanent damage doesn't mean that it doesn't hurt.
GMing Feast of Dust for some of my VOs today. Do not expect me on until tonight. Yes, Mr. Peppers, you may bot me. So can some of the others.
Cup will do Kn. Planes checks (and any others, of course!) sing, whip, and use that unseen servant in as many creative ways as possible. The classic is to go behind enemy lines into the pile of gems covered in bile and put the gems into a sack while the fight goes on. Or to pick up anything the baddies drop if someone wants to disarm folks. My holy water is for Uesugi or anyone else -- Sirettis, perhaps? -- to use.
Feel free to just say that Cup sings, and I will compose something later for all of your amusement.
Sir D. Arthraven |
That's a funny, and appropriate, term for it.
Btw, did you do the Feast of Ravenmoor after all?
If yes, i'm curious how it went.
Sirettis |
I'll take 1 vial of acid from Corsac's cache. Sirettis will try to knock the man asleep and shoot the fly. Those fire-resistant swarms have got to go.

If I had a nickel for how many times I've typed "Dr. Peppers" instead of "Mr."...
Sir D. Arthraven |
Alright, 'how many times have you typed "Dr. Peppers" instead of "Mr."?
(Hands you 1 nickel for the information)
Mr. Peppers |
Hrm that's a great thought... perhaps he needs to finish his degree at the local university....
I've been building my syrup making shack all day and have company for a bit tonight so won't be paying too close attention.. and damn TWO fire resistant swarms ugh..
Mr Peppers will also take one of those acids if there are enough to go around.
Sir D. Arthraven |
The writers must have thought it amusing, rendering one of the most go-to ineffective.
Granted, i might nick that concept....for future uses. :)
GM Red |
I think now's a good a time as any to let you know that I'll be away from December 25th to January 2nd. My wife and I will be traveling to Iceland for Christmas and New Years. I can't promise any posts at all during that time (not sure I'll even have internet!)
We'll definitely be done the first module by that point (we're at about 80-90% right now) and possibly have started the second.
Mr. Peppers |
Sweet! Have a great time, I'm sure all of us will be plenty busy so I wouldn't worry in the least about posting.
GM Hmm |
Wonderful! It'll be a great break for all of us.
Have a lovely trip. Meanwhile, for those of you in my Blood Under Absalom, here's your chance to dot and delete!
Hmm
Sirettis |
Enjoy your time in Iceland!
Cup |
We're in holiday slowdown, but we don't have to be. Given what time of year it is, maybe all of us should have botting instructions in our profiles and a botting protocol for this game of how long we wait before botting. Six hours? Eight?
Check out Cup's "Bot Me!" spoiler. I'd love it if everyone else had one as well during this season. That way we could make Red's life easier by botting each other.
Hmm
Mr. Peppers |
Mr Peppers twirls his smoking wand and holsters it in celebration of post number 1000!
That sounds good to me Cup so long as everyone agrees it works for them. I'll start thinking of something interesting to put in there.
