"Are all...Keleshite so....annoyingly smug?...Or is...it just...this one?"

Running east the wooden planks of the docks turns into a stone paved lane. As you pass by a number of warehouses, shops and other businesses you notice that the shouting has stopped and quickly move to navigate towards where you last think the shout was heard.

You travel about two hundred feet down the lane when you Merelda calls for Him to stop. About fifty feet away she points off to the side in the direction of a couple of warehouses. Separating the two buildings you see dark alley roughly fifteen wide. In the alley, you notice someone laying face down on the ground. The person does not seem to be moving nor do you see anyone else around this person.

Merelda tosses the coin around the body just a little after Him also reaches the body. With the light source it is easy enough to see the pool of blood forming around the body. The man is dressed in a seafaring uniform of some sort.

Knowledge:Local (DC12):
The uniform is worn by members of Taldan's Imperial Navy

Turning over the body you see he has suffered various wounds, but of most interest are the three bolts you find buried in his upper torso. Nearby the body you see a hand ax.

Heal check (DC15):
Looking over the body. You see that this person has a long gash on his left ankle. The man suffered a considerable wound to his stomach probably from a slashing item. By the swelling that has occurred around the bolts you also determine these bolts were coated with poison.

Merelda heads deeper into the alley, on hunch.

"Here we go! Looks like the captain got himself taken out because he was blocking their exit? Probably pissing

Or if it is just a brute force kind of thing.

"May the Lady care for your soul, my unfortunate friend."

Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

There is no lever that you can spot. It looks like you'll need to use good ole brute force to pick this one up.

Strength check DC14 the grate is not that large but at least three of you could try it at the same time. One person roll and two others can aid other if you choose to go this route.

Kirzon:
You'll need to go down before you can figure out where you are on the map.

With our group, DC14 strength check might be insurmountable!

"Ah'll be able ta figure out where we're at once we go down." He looks around at the group, trying to figure out who might be the most able to handle the weight. And then decides he's probably the best one to pull this off. "Come on, lads. Methinks ah'll 'ave ta show ye what an ol' dwarf can do ta pull this 'ere cap aside," he says, with false confidence.

Ah sure 'ope ah don't hurt me back doin' this, he thinks to himself. He prays for the strength of the bull to favor him in this attempt. . . Strength Check, Guidance: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 then immediately lets go, shaking his hands off. "Ach, it's a might tougher than 't looks. Someone else give 't a go."

The grate although heavy lifts easily enough off the drain. Taking off the grate you look down and from Merelda's ioun torch you see a ladder heading down a shaft. As the coin drops you see the shaft is about 20 foot long and then it opens up into a room below that is about 20 ft high. The coin lands in a puddle on the stone floor below.

Also it seems that the ladder only goes as far as the length of the shaft.

"Not me sadly. I could probably drop down with minimal pain if need be, or we could try to throw stuff down to cushion our falls, bedrolls perhaps?" The Keleshite says, looking down at the drop dubiously.

"I do have my hammock, if I tied that to the last rung we could climb down it to lessen the drop."

I don't think anyone has a rope. But if we drop some stuff down to cushion and can make a DC 15 acrobatics check we ought to be able to drop down without any damage - assuming GM Aumakua is willing to count that as soft ground.

Innis offers her rope to the group and they make their preparations to descend. She taps Him'Wazir with his wand of armor as he requests and activates her own protection then looks down into the dark pit and sighs an equal measure of challenge and opportunity before her if fortune provides...

Innis uses a Blessing of the Faithful to channel Calistria's gaze upon which now lingers on Him'Wazir +2 sacred bonus to AC as long as I remain within 25ft and concentrate on it

She also draws upon her power of luck and holds it close

Innis will go down second but will stay above on the rope until Him'Wazir gives the all clear. Also who are we afraid of following us into a creature infested sewer in the dead of night I mean the enemy of my enemy...

Having insured the rope is secure and received protections from his new allies Him says,

"Twice blessed, surely now I am invinsible?" And adds, wearing a wicked half smile, "Ah hubris my old friend, never again."

He descends careful to keep his weight on the rope rather than trust a ladder that has been in a sewer for The Dawnflower knows how long. Once he exits the shaft he pauses scanning the room, and if he sees nothing of note continues, struggling to make progress on the rope with his pitiful physique, but eventually managing to progress and leaping down the last ten feet landing scimitar drawn and whirling about searching for potential threats in the light of Merelda's coin.

Kirzon sends Boros ahead with Him. "Carry 'im down with ya. Trust me, lad, 'e'll watch over ya, and won't do a thing ta ya 'nless ah tell 'im ta." Assuming Him cooperates, the snake coils itself around Him, tightly but not TOO tightly. It then descends down with Him.

Kirzon then looks down at the task before him, and decides he could use a hand. "Eh, add some knots ta tha rope, will ya? Merelda 'ere seems like she be pretty good at that sort o' thing!" Assuming the party spends a little bit of time making a knotted rope, everyone should have no trouble climbing down to the bottom.

If we knot the rope first, which seems like a good idea now I realize it is a DC 15, Him can take Boros down, if we do not being at medium would put him into medium load and he would fail his climb checks.

I would suggest that we only knot the last 20 feet, saving a bit of time as I imagine we can all make the DC 5 I am assuming while in the shaft.
