Before she can even truly become involved in the fighting Cassandra sees the explosion ripple through the zombies and destroy the lot of them. She looks back at Nicias and gives him a quick nod before focusing once more on the room, just in case.

Before he can even act, the alchemist has burned the zombies to a crisp. "Nice goin', Nicias. You got 'em 'fore I saw them bodies were wakin' up!" Thrilled that the fight is over so quickly, Kirzon will also begin exploring the new room, searching for signs of magic or other things of interest. Detect magic.

Keeping her rapier and shield ready, Merelda advances slowly into the room.
"Keep your eyes open for traps and more zombies. No telling what's really down here."

The room appears to be clear of any other hungry corpses getting up. You see that the cellar is full of barrels and crates lining the wall.
Divining for magic Kirzon is able to find some on the charred corpses. Three crossbow bolts radiate magic. Looking further at the charred corpses and from the area where they rose you are able to gather:

a light crossbow
a quiver holding seven crossbow bolts and the three magic
crossbow bolts
a silver and onyx ring
and coinage (48 sp, 16 gp, and 3 pp)

Sighing, Merelda nods sounding tired.
"We need to keep going. We cannot stop until these cultists are defeated and the artifact is destroyed."
Merelda then moves to check down the hallway to the south.

Lililinda stands, slightly stunned, blinking to clear the spots in her eyes left by the flash of the alchemist's bomb. "Well. Would that all our fights be so quick and decisive."

From the room you look down south hallway. It goes down thirty feet before it splits into two passages – one continues south and the other turns east.

Moving down the hallway you come to the split. Kirzon takes a moment to look around and notices that there are more signs of traffic heading east.

AS a sidenote Kirzon You do notice that a portion of the south passage appears to have collapsed long ago. Evidenced by the deep cracks that radiate along the walls, floor, and ceiling. The passage does continue onward.

The tunnel seems safe enough but you can see that while the tunnel continues it only does so for about 15 ft before dropping off into darkness.

"Ouch! That's a fall and a half. Good catch Kirzon! Looks like we'rre checking the other way. But be cautious of other cave-ins!"

You move down the east hallway opting to not chance your luck with the southern passage.
You travel about 10 feet when you notice that there is a small, three-foot square hole cut into the southern wall. Investigating it you notice it opens into a narrow shaft. The shaft ascends and descends out of sight. An old iron ladder is set into the opposite wall of the shaft.
Staring back down the east passage you see that it opens into a large room. A long table surrounded by wooden stools is set against the south wall. You notice at least 7 people hunched down kneeling over several heaps lying about the room.

This is starting to get very 'Night of the Living Dead' around here...
Expecting more zombies too, Merelda gets visibly frustrated but quickly calms down.
She whispers back to Kirzon.
"Have Boros guard that hole! I don't like it. The last thing we need is a horde of zombies popping up behind us as we fight again!"
With that, she cautiously moves up to the edge of the doorway to get a better look, but also worried about getting overwhelmed and flanked again.

The figures are so preoccupied with the heaps that as you get closer they are completely oblivious to you. Moving by the doorway you are able to see that the room reminds you of the previous room and it looks as if another massacre has occurred here. The entire room is spattered with blood and gore and the crumpled heaps are actually the bodies of five half-eaten men lying about the room.
A quick assessment of this large room is that it must be a barracks of some sort. Twelve bunks are lined up two rows deep along the north wall. Attached to the middle of the south wall is a wooden rack containing various weapons.
In the northeast corner, levitating some five feet off the ground, hangs a length of silk rope. One end touches the ground, while the other end seems suspended in mid-air. You watch as two more zombies move from the rope and begin to pound on a reinforced door on the east wall.

Merelda tries to identify the en-spelled rope as well.

Merelda continues to whisper.
"What I wouldn't give for a fireball spell right now. Shall we continue with our previous plan? I'll block the doorway, Nicias and Cassie take most of them out. Nicias? How are you doing on your 'Specials?' Running low?"

Whispering back, Nicias replies "Down half, that's four left. But I got some backups - Alchemists fire, acid, etc. If I get a chance I can mix some of them into a volatile liquid concoction that will do just as well."

Merelda smirks and continues to whisper.
"Sounds good enough. Well, let's get their attention then!"
Turning back to the zombie smorgasbord, Merelda starts banging her rapier's hilt on her new shield!
"Dinner's over boys and girls! The dessert has arrived!!"

The thought of even more of these zombies made Cass nervous, she was tired of dealing with such things but then that is what she signed up for. As they discussed how to deal with the things in the room Cassandra nodded her consent and took up a position to fend off any rushing attackers as they tried to deal with these things as they came in. When Merelda called out to the creatures in the room Cassandra had already taken a stance with her glaive at the ready.

Taking a quick glance at the rope you are unsure of its nature so you quicky focus back to the zombie horde summoning it with a loud CLANG. Cassandra's glaive flashes in easily missing the first zombie.
The zombies are only too eager to respond to your summons. One moves in to attack Merelda while two others grab at her hoping to have a fresh meal! The elf is prepared for this and holds her shield high blocking two attacks and then just narrowly escaping being grabbed by one of the zombies.

Cassandra struck at the zombies attacking Merelda and said, "Everyone, step back, let's make them come in one at a time!"

As the zombies shuffle forward, Nicias prepares a couple of his "specials". Waiting until they bunch up, he then throws them right into their midst.

Ever deadly with his specials Nicias lobs one over Merelda and Cassandra the contents exploding in the crowd of zombies decimating their numbers to only three. The group shifts back to funnel the remaining dead into the narrow hall.
Cassandra I'll use your attack as a ready action. Merelda its fine I'll move you back with the others.
The zombie rushes unphased by the damage you have inflicted to the rest of the horde. Cassandra stabs it with glaive but it is not enough damage to destroy the zombie. The creature tries to find an opening to tear its teeth into Merelda fortunately Innis sacred blessing is able to stop the creature from being successful. The other zombies move up fighting to have their turn at their 'food'.

Merelda finishes off the wounded zombie before it can act again a wicked smile coming to her lips as the hunted turns hunter!
Cassandra holds back knowing the zombies tactics will have them rush down the passage soon enough. converting your action to ready action.
Following his explosive display Nicias waits feeling comfortable that Merelda and Cassandra will be able to take down the last two zombies. And in the back Lililinda tries to peer down the passage wondering if her robes are going to get soiled from all the zombie blood and guts that now paints the room ahead.
The zombies moves down the hall and moves out of the way before Cassandra's glaive finds its mark. Baring its teeth it launches itself at Merelda and misses.
