Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

A smoldering Merelda walks past Kirzon with a grim and determined look on her face. A trail of small footsteps can be seen in the dust leading down this hallway eventually turning left away from the room that the burning undead creatures came from.

Merelda stops abruptly in the middle of the hallway and looks down at the floor before her. Cursing she carefully retracts her feet and backs up two steps.

Merelda:
The portion of the floor in front of you is not safe and you don't think it can hold much weight from the way it is burnt out. It extends for about roughly ten feet.

Merelda will go back into the bedroom, assuming the haunt is quiet for now, and checks the northern wall.

Kirzon is rather stunned as Merelda lays down on the bed, only to see it catch on fire. "Tha room's cursed!" he announces, much too late. He steps out with Merelda, only to see Merelda step back in. "Wait, why are ya goin' back in there?" Worried that she might feel like doing something crazy, Kirzon tags along ready to stop her if she tries.

So yeah, if some weird possession effect happens, Kirzon would like to be able to intervene and stop it.

Something about this wall...

Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

As you are looking at the wall you hear footsteps coming up the creaking stairs turning you watch as Him rejoins you. He looks a little haggard and he does not greet you with his usual grace.

"I've left the little urchins outside. They dare not set foot in here until after we've recovered their friend and they will not leave until likewise."[b] he eyes Merelda who is examining the burnt wall but chooses not to comment on her appearance, [b]"Still I figured you could use me I heard shouting a little while ago but it seems that you have bested whatever foes you encountered. Any sign of the child yet?"

In the middle of the northern wall Merelda points to a discolored brick, odd given that the rest of the wall seems to blackened with soot.

As Merelda pushes the brick in you watch as the wall slides open revealing a secret room. The small room is windowless and it appears to have escaped extensive damage from the fire. A small desk and chair sit in the northwest corner, and atop the desk sits a rusting hooded lantern. A ratty, stained mattress lies on the bare floor against the east wall. Two sets of shackles hang from hooks on the wall above the
mattress.

As you begin to ponder what evil transpired here you feel a sudden wave of heat fill this room as a creature similar to the last ones you slew appears before you. He looks at you with no remorse and you watch as his face fills with rage.

Merelda:
You clearly recognize this man as the one you saw yourself as in your reverie

She then rattles off her cantrip, begging Calistria silently for it to strike true!

"Oh goodness, not another one!" Lililinda laments. And I don't have the wand anymore! She ducks down against the wall where she is, just around the corner from the monster, to let others get past her. She holds tight to her potion, ready to spring to the aid of anyone who might fall.

Seeing yet another one of these horrid undead, Kirzon springs into action, resuming his role as protector. "Him, get Nicias's magic weap'n drink! Ah'll 'old 't off fer a li'l bit. Boros, you stay back!"

Kirzon resumes his dance with the undead. Move and total defense.

Next round, the plan would be to withdraw to give Merelda a clear shot. Him should then charge in and stab the creature while taking over front-line duties.

Boros dutifully remains out of combat.

Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

Merelda screams at the nightmarish creature and sends a ray of positive energy its way. The ray glances off the creature's arm and she moves away quickly allowing Kirzon to move into position and occupy the doorway.

Quickly Nicias moves towards Him and produces a vial and uncorks it which he tells Him to apply to his blade, nipple taker. with no hesitation the swashbuckler draws his blade and coats it with the luminescent oil. With smile he looks towards the doorway ready to join the fray and punish this creature for whatever evils he has done.

The creature intent on getting to Merelda rushes forward and lashes out at the old lumberjack who bars his way. Kirzon screams in agony as the creature's claw cuts through his armor and sears his soul. Kirzon you take 13 points of damage and make a Reflex save DC17

Withdraw. Note that the flaming creature seems to have disappeared from the combat map, though I'm guessing it's still in the doorway?

Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

hmm someone has been fiddling with the map tsk tsk I'll find it. Have a look now I've also moved everyone's token to the spot that seems best suited to their stated actions

the creature still appears off to the side of the map 2 me

Reaping Stone Campaign: Under Cassomir

I've updated the link but maybe I wasn't clear. I threw two lines on the map to indicate there is a room behind the wall. So technically A1, A2, B1 and B2 is the actual room where the creature came from. So it appears on the map that there is no room there but there is actually supposed to be one there. Right now the creature is in square A2 which is where the secret door opens from.

Since you can conjure very obvious magical stuff...or soil things, you could try and conjure moist dirt to put out the fire. If nothing else, you might give Him a bonus on his next save to put out the fire using the spell. You could also perform the "aid another" action using a cloak and helping him put out the fire again. In the end, you could grab a water=skin and squirt water at him and hope to hit thefire while he moves?...I don't know what else is possible?...
