Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Nor throws out his arms in a grand gesture.
"Good to see you again, Happs. Thank you for showing us into your home." Nor grins wryly.
"Did you tell your friends of our generous offer? Join us, to taste of bountiful riches, or join us not, and taste my steel."
Nor pulls his falchion from its sheath.
Intimidate 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11 (Intending to intimidate them into standing down.)

Thanatos chuckles as he flips open his Scythe. "Please say that you intend to turn down our offer... My queen can always use more... friends."" There's a twinkle in his eyes.

Can I add something to Nor's intimidate?

Shadow Lodge

Roll intimidate. If you beat a 10, it adds +2 to his roll.

1d20 ⇒ 3

Thanatos Eternal wrote:

LOL nope.

Shadow Lodge

It's been more than 24 hours and his allies are not using stealth, so I am ruling that Dagoth is not hiding.

Your eyes adjust slowly against the blazing fire, but you see shadows in the trees and under bushes. It is impossible to tell how many might be here.

Suddenly a smaller figure emerges from behind Happs. It is a woman.

"Join you?" Her laugh is mocking, high-pitched, a dagger to the temple.

"You are foolish enough to enter my camp with only three? A frontal assault by so few against hardened killers? And you say 'JOIN US OR DIE!'" Deeper the dagger slides.

"We'd all die in a fortnight should we join with fools like you."

Her voice is deadly serious now. "We have no desire to die, but we do enjoy to deal out death. However, since you have amused me, I will let you go this once. Take a message to that fool Oleg: No one kills my men. Have triple the monthly payment tomorrow, or see his post burned and his wife raped."

"I urge you strongly not to be there, as I will not let you go a second time. Now go, and never let me see you again."

She and Happs stand: waiting.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Nor barks a laugh, and shouts for all to hear. "Is that what Happs told you? We killed his bandit friends, so he ran to hide behind a woman's skirt? Aye, that sounds plausible, coming from a coward."
Nor hawks and spits, his chew-stained teeth gleaming. "Fool Happs was the only one of his party lacking sense. The others that went to Oleg's joined us. We are not as outnumbered as you think, and our new companions have made good use of the night's shadows. Each of them will enjoy a healthy share of treasure to come."
Bluff 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11 Eff.

Shadow Lodge

"MY MEN..."

The woman beings to speak, but is cut off by a fuming Happs.

He whispers something to the woman and she nods. Happs grins like an idiot.

"A fight to the death, just the gobo and me. If I win, the other two leave the Stolen Lands forever, on pain of death. If the gobo bastard wins, Kressle and the rest will join you."

"Over reaction seems to be the thing these days. Compensating for something there, Hume?" Thanatos whispers quietly.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Nor chortles at Thanatos' remark. "Does your god bless those about to take a life?" He whispers back to the tiefling.

Nor casually reaches for a small leather pouch at his belt, removes a finger of Shoanti chew, and places it in his mouth. Moments later, crimson saliva leaks from the corners of his lips, giving his mocking grin a blood-stained look. His beady eyes glisten.

"I cannot speak for these two, but I accept your challenge, on one condition: No craven weapons. Bows are for those with milk in their blood. Come and face your final hour with steel in your hand."

Male Orc Ranger

Dagoth steps out from behind a tree, "I say we cut all your throats and call it a day but, i'll agree to the terms."

Thanatos grins back. "Sure, as long as you deliver her the skeleton. She can always use more servants."

Shadow Lodge

Happs nods to Nor and holds out his hand. A hilt is placed is in his hand and from its sheath, he draws a sword as tall as himself.

"May you loiter forever in Pharasma's boneyard."

Happs Init.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Nor Init.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Happs charges across the clearing, sword aloft. He brings it down hard on Nors head, opening a grievous wound.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 for 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 6) + 6 = 15

Good luck. Sorry...

Quick question. Can enemies see Cleric channeling spells?

Like could I "sneeze" to channel to heal Nor?

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

A thick bloody gout sprays from Nor's sheared face as he erupts into a frenzied mirth. His scraping laughter is gurgled by the blood in his throat, and the exposed muscles beneath the open skin of his shoulder and chest twitch erratically.

He bellows something made incoherent by thick laughter, gore, and chew. His falchion curves low to high, meaning to spill open the bandit's entrails.

F%$~ it, I'm spending a hero point, +8 to whatever the 1d20 cranks out.
Attack 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Damage 2d4 + 11 ⇒ (2, 1) + 11 = 14

Shadow Lodge

Nor endures the worst Happs has to offer and returns a blow of his own.

In the end, Now stands bleeding and exposed while Happs collapses to the ground as the light fades from behind his eyes.

Nor wins. Best duel ever.

@ Thanatos: You have to present you holy symbol strongly and speak in a loud and purposeful voice. to channel or cast most spells. They are not stealthy.

Shadow Lodge

Kressle cries out as Happs goes down.

"They've killed Happs! Hurry! They're wounded. Kill them all!"

Everyone make reflex saves to dive to cover. If you choose not to do so, that is fine. I'll wait a max of 24 hours.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Reflex 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Thanatos, do you have anything to quench their fires?

Reflex 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3 Only thing I have is the conjure water.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

It might work. Just don't die first.

Male Orc Ranger

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18

Shadow Lodge

Dagoth and Nor have the good sense to dive to the ground after Kressle orders the attack. The cleric is not so wise.

Arrows streak out of the darkness from all sides.

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for 1d8 ⇒ 2
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 for 1d8 ⇒ 5
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 for 1d8 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 for 1d8 ⇒ 5
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for 1d8 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 for 1d8 ⇒ 4

Two arrows bite into Thanatos' flesh: one is not deep, a graze really; the other sinks far into his left pectoral, missing his heart by inches.

6 damage

That's like the third 1 I've rolled so far. Ye Gods.

Shadow Lodge

Are you silly ponces going to go anytime soon?

Cursing, Thanatos hunkers down behind a boulder and tosses one of his flasks of water to Nyx. "Nyx, go pour this onto the closest fire, go put it out." He then lays hands on himself and attempts to close the wounds.

Inflict light wounds 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Shadow Lodge

Nyx is able to douse a small section of the ring of fire.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Keeping close to the ground, Nor crawls to Thanatos. Stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
I'll double move, if that what it takes to get to him, and I am remaining prone to add to my AC against ranged attacks.

"Close my wounds. My blade isn't finished yet."

Male Orc Ranger

"DIE A THE DEATH OF A COWARD, YOUS COWARDS!" Dagoth charges as his bird strikes in from behind the middle combantant.
-2AC +2 Attack
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 1d12 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Shadow Lodge

You're charging the leader? You really need to say who your're going after, or I will just pick the closest target even if your action cannot be resolved against that person. Also, your bird only gets one attack because it moved. I will keep the first one. Please respond with your intended target. (The leader is the only one readily hit-able, the rest re in bushes or otherwise obstructed.

Male Orc Ranger

Ya just pick the closest/only one visible, and cancel the last 2 attacks on the bird.

Male Orc Ranger

OOPS forgot Fav Enemy: Human +2/att +2/Dmg. So 22dmg!

Shadow Lodge

Dagoth cuts Kressle from clavical to pelvis. She sputters once: blood everywhere, then falls.

There is silence in the glade for a long stretch. Finally, the bandits emerge from their hiding places and pledge their loyalty.

Male Orc Ranger

"I am DAGOTH THE SAVAGER!", yells the orc feeling mighty proud of himself. He points to the dead woman,"You step to me and I'll slit your throat, and you need to stop this whole bandit thing. We do not take advantage of the weak, we KILL THEM. Lastly, If anyone insults you or us, you kill them. You are A SAVAGER act like one! " Dagoth moves back and forth, looking at each one in the eye. "What are your names and what are your skills men?"

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Nor nods in approval at the orc's decisive display. Aware that the assailants seem to be subdued, he quietly walks over to the body of Happs, and searches his person for anything of worth.
Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
"You met your end honorably, but I'm guessing you won't be needing this anymore."

Thanatos follows Nor closely, continually casting Heal Minor Wounds as they walk along. Nyx is flanking Thanatos just in case anything happens.

Shadow Lodge

I learned something that will make Thanatos sad, and for that I am sorry. However, Heal Minor wounds grants temporary hit points only. No more spam heals. :(

Are you thinking of the orison "virtue"?

I'm just pulling it off of HeroLab under spells available for Cleric. They listed Cure Minor Wounds as "appears in d20 SRD spells" I can take it off if you want though.

Under Configure Your Hero, are we not using Prior SRD Content anymore? Should I uncheck d20 SRD animals, d20 SRD magic items, d20 SRD spells, and Open content from Unearthed Arcana?

Shadow Lodge

Happs has 2 alchemists fire, scalemail, dagger, composite longbow (+2 str), 20 arrows, silver Stag amulet.

The 10 bandits look tentatively around at one another, no one seems to want to speak up first.

Thanatos looks down at Kressle, bows his head in quick remembrance, and searches her for anything. He kneels next to her and mutters a quick prayer to his goddess.

Shadow Lodge

Kressle has a potion of cure light wounds, studded leather armor, 2 masterwork handaxes, 4 daggers, and 85 gp.

Male Orc Ranger

Dagoth points at the one closest to what would seem as the center of the bunch. "You speak or are you a mute? You profess your allegiance yet you don't listen, I said Name!"

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

Nor stores the flasks of alchemists fire, dagger, longbow and arrows, and the silver Stag amulet on his person. He hangs his falchion over his back, and picks up Happs' greatsword before joining Dagoth's side. He looks over the surrendered bandits.
"You would do well to heed the orc. Otherwise, I will find new names for you. You there, Wormy," Nor points to the thinnest one, "You have trouble keeping your belly-guests fed?"

Thanatos collects the supplies and slinks over to the rest of the group, and channels to heal the team. 1d6 ⇒ 4 A wave of energy spirals out from Thanatos and envelops everyone in the area, but only affects his friends.

"Who else wants to be an eternal servant of my mistress...?" he whispers.

Male Orc Ranger

My goal is to kinda make reavers from firefly

Shadow Lodge

The man snaps back to reality at being called "wormy."

"Wormy is a good name, no doubt. That said, you shouldn't call me it. My name is Jed. The others are Red, Brock, Liam, Jess, Alex, Bert, Rock, Marty, and Micah."

Jess and Alex are women.

Male Hobgoblin Barbarian

"I believe Dagoth here also wanted to know of any ...expertise."
Nor eyes the ragged bandits dubiously.

Then he holds up the silver Stag pendant, studying it ponderously. After a moment, he turns to Thanatos. "Is there any magic on this? Could it be a holy symbol like yours?"

Shadow Lodge

"We have few skills," says Jed says, "We're bandits. We can rig traps and disable them, we do OK outdoors and can line up a deadly strike with the right circumstances."

He eyes the amulet. "That's the mark of the Stag. Only his officers wear 'em. Now, I'm braver than most, and I would not recommend taking him on anytime soon. He'll turn you into a porcupine with that bow o' his."
