Nor throws out his arms in a grand gesture.
"Good to see you again, Happs. Thank you for showing us into your home." Nor grins wryly.
"Did you tell your friends of our generous offer? Join us, to taste of bountiful riches, or join us not, and taste my steel."
Nor pulls his falchion from its sheath.

It's been more than 24 hours and his allies are not using stealth, so I am ruling that Dagoth is not hiding.
Your eyes adjust slowly against the blazing fire, but you see shadows in the trees and under bushes. It is impossible to tell how many might be here.
Suddenly a smaller figure emerges from behind Happs. It is a woman.
"Join you?" Her laugh is mocking, high-pitched, a dagger to the temple.
"You are foolish enough to enter my camp with only three? A frontal assault by so few against hardened killers? And you say 'JOIN US OR DIE!'" Deeper the dagger slides.
"We'd all die in a fortnight should we join with fools like you."
Her voice is deadly serious now. "We have no desire to die, but we do enjoy to deal out death. However, since you have amused me, I will let you go this once. Take a message to that fool Oleg: No one kills my men. Have triple the monthly payment tomorrow, or see his post burned and his wife raped."
"I urge you strongly not to be there, as I will not let you go a second time. Now go, and never let me see you again."
She and Happs stand: waiting.

Nor barks a laugh, and shouts for all to hear. "Is that what Happs told you? We killed his bandit friends, so he ran to hide behind a woman's skirt? Aye, that sounds plausible, coming from a coward."
Nor hawks and spits, his chew-stained teeth gleaming. "Fool Happs was the only one of his party lacking sense. The others that went to Oleg's joined us. We are not as outnumbered as you think, and our new companions have made good use of the night's shadows. Each of them will enjoy a healthy share of treasure to come."

"MY MEN..."
The woman beings to speak, but is cut off by a fuming Happs.
"COWARD!? COWARD HE SAYS!? I AM NO COWARD YOU GOBO S*~#!"[
He whispers something to the woman and she nods. Happs grins like an idiot.
"A fight to the death, just the gobo and me. If I win, the other two leave the Stolen Lands forever, on pain of death. If the gobo bastard wins, Kressle and the rest will join you."
"DO YOU ACCEPT YOU S~+@ EATING GOBO!?"

Nor chortles at Thanatos' remark. "Does your god bless those about to take a life?" He whispers back to the tiefling.
Nor casually reaches for a small leather pouch at his belt, removes a finger of Shoanti chew, and places it in his mouth. Moments later, crimson saliva leaks from the corners of his lips, giving his mocking grin a blood-stained look. His beady eyes glisten.
"I cannot speak for these two, but I accept your challenge, on one condition: No craven weapons. Bows are for those with milk in their blood. Come and face your final hour with steel in your hand."

Happs nods to Nor and holds out his hand. A hilt is placed is in his hand and from its sheath, he draws a sword as tall as himself.
"May you loiter forever in Pharasma's boneyard."

A thick bloody gout sprays from Nor's sheared face as he erupts into a frenzied mirth. His scraping laughter is gurgled by the blood in his throat, and the exposed muscles beneath the open skin of his shoulder and chest twitch erratically.
He bellows something made incoherent by thick laughter, gore, and chew. His falchion curves low to high, meaning to spill open the bandit's entrails.
F%#$ it, I'm spending a hero point, +8 to whatever the 1d20 cranks out.

Nor endures the worst Happs has to offer and returns a blow of his own.
In the end, Now stands bleeding and exposed while Happs collapses to the ground as the light fades from behind his eyes.
Nor wins. Best duel ever.
@ Thanatos: You have to present you holy symbol strongly and speak in a loud and purposeful voice. to channel or cast most spells. They are not stealthy.

Dagoth and Nor have the good sense to dive to the ground after Kressle orders the attack. The cleric is not so wise.
Arrows streak out of the darkness from all sides.

Two arrows bite into Thanatos' flesh: one is not deep, a graze really; the other sinks far into his left pectoral, missing his heart by inches.

You're charging the leader? You really need to say who your're going after, or I will just pick the closest target even if your action cannot be resolved against that person. Also, your bird only gets one attack because it moved. I will keep the first one. Please respond with your intended target. (The leader is the only one readily hit-able, the rest re in bushes or otherwise obstructed.

"I am DAGOTH THE SAVAGER!", yells the orc feeling mighty proud of himself. He points to the dead woman,"You step to me and I'll slit your throat, and you need to stop this whole bandit thing. We do not take advantage of the weak, we KILL THEM. Lastly, If anyone insults you or us, you kill them. You are A SAVAGER act like one! " Dagoth moves back and forth, looking at each one in the eye. "What are your names and what are your skills men?"

Nor nods in approval at the orc's decisive display. Aware that the assailants seem to be subdued, he quietly walks over to the body of Happs, and searches his person for anything of worth.

Nor stores the flasks of alchemists fire, dagger, longbow and arrows, and the silver Stag amulet on his person. He hangs his falchion over his back, and picks up Happs' greatsword before joining Dagoth's side. He looks over the surrendered bandits.
"You would do well to heed the orc. Otherwise, I will find new names for you. You there, Wormy," Nor points to the thinnest one, "You have trouble keeping your belly-guests fed?"

"I believe Dagoth here also wanted to know of any ...expertise."
Nor eyes the ragged bandits dubiously.
Then he holds up the silver Stag pendant, studying it ponderously. After a moment, he turns to Thanatos. "Is there any magic on this? Could it be a holy symbol like yours?"

"We have few skills," says Jed says, "We're bandits. We can rig traps and disable them, we do OK outdoors and can line up a deadly strike with the right circumstances."
He eyes the amulet. "That's the mark of the Stag. Only his officers wear 'em. Now, I'm braver than most, and I would not recommend taking him on anytime soon. He'll turn you into a porcupine with that bow o' his."
