The minotaur is enraged by the damage from the caster, and spots the dwarf falling into the fast-moving current of the river. He chuckles a bit as he gives out another loud snort and lowers his head, eyes focused on the shouting warpriest as he gives him a POWERFUL CHARGE...

...but the minotaur catches a glare from the warpriest's armor and is slightly blinded, veering off course and managing to miss.

I'm also reading up the rules about how to manage Matarn in the water and I'm chuckling quite a bit. This will be fun. Let me know which side of the river you want to try and pull yourself up on to and I'll do your swim checks and stuff to see if you make it. If you miss by certain amounts, you can even go underwater and start having to hold your breath, lol.

Boo, I was all happy when I went back to the previous fight and found that my last action with my crossbow was move/reload, and then this happens, lol.
Not that it matters, but do you still get a -4 for firing into combat with a large creature? I assume yes, but you'd think he'd be easier to hit.

Raphael: It already considers his size but that only modifies his AC by 1. It's the same effectiveness as a shield so it makes sense to me that it makes him only slightly harder to hit by being big. He still has a pretty low AC though tbh.

Eradan sinks an arrow into the monster as it gives out a roar in response.

Raphael's bolt flies off into the blue sky, slightly distracting the minotaur as Linux moves in to swing and avenge his fallen furry friend, slicing the minotaur and spilling some more of its blood.

Matarn flaps his short stubby arms in the water and tries to recuperate after falling into the cold water....

Matarn SWIM!: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (10) - 2 = 8

...and the rushing water takes him under and moves him along the bank just a little, his armor weighing him down a bit.

I let the water get you a little closer to the bank, maybe you'll make it next time, haha.

The rest of the party sees Matarn go under as bubbles rise along where he's pulled by the current. He's a hardy dwarf so he can handle a bit of abuse. (Matarn's Breath: 1/6 rounds)

Raphael watches his bolt fly off into the blue sky and is momentarily disheartend. Then, seeing his party attack the Minotaur with vigor he pulls himself together, determined to help them defeat the monster.

Raphael reloads his crossbow and fires at the Minotaur.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 16
Possible Damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

The bolt flies towards the Minotaur and Raphael watches its arc with anticipation, hoping desperately that it will hit its target and kill the beast before he does any more damage. From the corner of his eye Raphael catches sight of Martarn and realises that the dwarf has managed to fall into the river.

Raphael teleports towards the riverbank, hoping to get close enough to help fish the floundering dwarf out or the river. He shouts out to the dwarf to reassure him, attempting to put him at ease by speaking the dwarfs...unique dialect.

"Hol' fas' Mart'n! H'lp 's on t'e..... He'p is 'n the...." Raphael gives up, and concentrates on getting to Martan as fast as possible.

Eradan draws back another of the +1 arrows and aims it for the Minotaur's heart. "Maybe this will down the smelly thing!"

Sadly a loose pebble below him caused Eradan's bow to move at the last second, causing his arrow to fly harmlessly pass the great Minotaur.

Linux sees the minotaur glancing around furtively for an exit. With a fiery look in his eye, he swings his sword to deal the deathblow.

Deathblow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Linux stands over the fallen beast, "Didn't know with who he was tangling. I AM the blade of Kurgess!"

He spits upon the ground at the hooves of the dying minotaur and turns to tend to Janira's wounds.

With the minotaur slain and Janira coming back to consciousness, she wakes up with a quote, ”And it was Selmius Foster’s race against a marid and efreeti on the isle of Jalmeray, which taught us that nothing is truly impossible and every situation can end in victory.” She looks around at her saviors and smiles brightly, getting up as quick as she can in her current state to congratulate her recruits on their successful mission.

The road back is filled with Janira talking about your adventure and getting details on what you discovered. She concludes that the Dhamphir must have been a necromancer who was plotting a scheme to use the gillmen as an army of undead.

You all return to Master Kreighton Shane and he demands to see your notes on the caves.

Go ahead and do your RP if you want to, explaining what you found and stuff.

The Master of Scrolls is extremely delighted. The mention of the carvings in the large cavern explains why the gillmen have been visiting and he excitedly congratulates you all on getting the information he was looking for. Combined with your ability to listen to an experienced pathfinder and heed Janira’s guidance to let her handle the minotaur and observe the caves, while also rescuing her when she needed the assistance, you’ve earned all the prestige and fame you could from this particular task.

Master Kreighton Shane also congratulates the Halfling before turning back to the group, ”Since you are all now the foremost authorities on that cave, you should come up with a name for it. You all were the first to explore it so you have the honors.” He turns to leave and reminds the party, ”Return in 3 days for your Pathfinder Agent Ceremony.”

3 days pass and you all return to become full-fledged Pathfinder field agent.

This part is for anyone who has not received the “Confirmed Field Agent” boon on any other character.

The Master of your field, whether it’s Scrolls, Swords, or Spells, congratulates you on becoming a pathfinder at your ceremony and awards you with a Wayfinder for free.

Anyone who has done this already, read the boon and let me know if you want to do anything.

Janira gets with the group one final time before you all leave, and invites you all to visit her again in the libraries of the Grand Lodge. ”Seek me out if you need any help with some information! I know many things and I’m always willing to help you all for saving my life. Thank you once again.”

And that’s that! I’ll make the next thread tonight, probably, and put the introduction up so you guys can post whenever you’re ready.
