Male Dwarf Barbarian (Breaker) 8

Huh. I thought I had something here about the dwarves and Hurgah forming a festive kickline. I guess not. Merry Christmas!

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Hey Donkor since it seems like we may get a chance to rest soon (perhaps!) we should coordinate our spell lists since we are both Clerics. Here is my proposed prayer request. Let me know what you are thinking, I want to make sure we have our bases covered from a Divine spell perspective.

0 - 4 - Create Water, Detect Magic, Guidance, Resistance

1- 5+D - Bless Water, Comprehend Languages, Detect Undead, Sanctuary, Summon Monster I, (D) Burning Hands

2 - 4+D - Bear's Endurance, Bull's Strength, Lesser Restoration x2, (D) Produce Flame

3 - 4+D - Archon's Aura, Remove Curse, Remove Disease, Searing Light, (D) Fireball

4 - 3+D - Holy Smite x2, Angradd's Love Tap (o/k/a Inflict Critical Wounds), (D) Wall of Fire

I am using a number of slots for Restoration, Remove Curse and Remove Disease in case we stand up against some undead that have the ability to cause these types of wounds. Not sure if you should also pray for these spells just in case or if a single set of the spells is enough. Let me know what you think.

Since I am leaving Dispel Magic off of my list you should probably take it though I am sure Pate will have it as well better to have an extra just in case!

Hal can Turn Undead and is gaining one more turn per day once we finlize leveling.

Hey Beetle. Question regarding Archon's Aura the spell I picked from Ultimate Magic, it would appear that it does not stack with the Aura of Menace power I receive from my Archon Domain (correct me if I am wrong).

Since that is the case I would like to pick an alternate spell from Ultimate Magic as my 1x choice. My alternate choise is Spear of Purity a 2nd level spell. It creates a spear of light that deals 1d8 per 2 levels up to 5d8 to evil creatures and 1d6 per level up to 10d6 + Blindness to Evil outsiders. Fits the character pretty well.

Let me know if this is ok Beetle, I have never used the Archon Aura to date (though I was planning on taking it once I was able to finally swap spells!)

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Hey Beetle one more thing, is there any specific flavor you are looking from our leveling posts?

I have updated Hal including my new spell list, once we have settled down I will draft and post Hal's reflection on his way to leveling.

Male Human Wizard Level 8 - Conjurer

Leveling Post

Moonpate the Potentate has had an illustrious adventuring career; braving tombs, dungeons, and dens to gain wisdom, insight, and experience enough to be considered a conjurer worthy of his master's teachings. This latest adventure is to be his first attempt at attaining the mantle of Daivrat and joining that exclusive circle of masters who can truly relate to genie kind. This task must be accomplished away from his master's presence, allowing for his own charm and wit to come to the fore in an encounter with a true genie. He has made contact with a lesser gen, but has yet to parlay that into contact with a major gen. This surely must happen in this land of ancient legends. However, Moonpate instead has encountered more physical hardship and deprivation than he has ever known. These challenges have surprisingly toughened him, requiring him to draw upon a well of strength and determination that he did not know existed. Furthermore, the desperate battles faced by him and his comrades have forced Moonpate to time and again conjure and manipulate dimensional rifts, to the point that he feels it is now almost second nature for him to call upon his power and traverse spatial warps with ease. Surely, an opportunity will present itself to further his path towards the Daivrat fellowship. Until then, his continuing mastery of the conjuring arts proceeds in a manner that would surely make his master proud.

Moonpate will increase his Constitution and take another level in Conjuration, obtaining the Dimensional Steps ability.

I think you are right on that one. I hadn't considered it. The are both untyped and untyped penalties stack, unless from the same named source and the names are different. But on the other hand they are also both auras and I thought auras do not stack.

Yeah go ahead and do the substitution then if you decide that's what you want. A few of us may be getting a bit fast and loose with the cap on the non-core books, so I appreciate you keeping an eye on that.

That spear of purity seems to be a pretty wicked spell if you come across an evil outsider. Guess I'd best find you one. . .

That's up to you - impress us all. I was thinking a Hamlet-like speech reviewing where your PC has come from and where he's going, ideally attempting to explain some of the absurdly spontaneous changes he will abruptly undergo.

Phrips got a good one to start us off. He's dastardly to go first. Now everyone will be pressured to try to top it.

I love the subplot of the soft and schmooshie Moonpate hardening up in the crucible of adventuring.

Male Dwarf Barbarian (Breaker) 8

Karek is all leveled, and he got some nice stat upgrades. New Year's Resolution: Get Karek's level-up post posted. And, er, written.

It's somewhere between Christmas cards and grad school apps tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay gentleman, I just haven't been able to muster the motivation to get myself onto the Internet over the holidays with my son home and so many other things to do.

I have composed my leveling post, but haven't given the slightest thought to what I'm actually going to do for my next level. Anyone think we could use something other than another level of cleric for me?

Hal, thanks very much for posting your spell selection, I will definitely plan around your choices next time I pray. More Dispel Magics are definitely going to be a priority!

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

I will be working on my leveling post likely tomorrow night, I have been sick for the past week so have not been as on the ball as I like to be!

I hear ya! I've been struggling to get out of post-holiday PbP fatigue for a while now. Especially with the game I GM.

Also, props to the Beetle for a really cool guardian. I can't wait for us to get done with the adventure, so I can go back and read the module to figure out what this guy really is.

+1 to this and sincerest apologies for my absence as well. I plan to get a post for Gandel up this evening.

Oh, and great leveling post, Phrip - you've set the bar!

Hope everyone had great holidays!

New map in maps!

You know, if you had recovered me with basilisk blood instead of smashing me to bits, I'd have dealt with this guardian-thing for you by now. . .

Male Human Cleric/8

Perhaps we can come back and utilize your great prowess as flung missile weapons going forward. Poor unfairly conscripted, and barely lamented Ghukan.

LOL!

No, I don't think so. Well, you may have but I don't remember. I can tell you Breach found him quite irritating. :)

Shoulda figured.

On reflection, I think I erred on this. I had it right the first time.

Hurgah can't take a five-foot step if he's used a move action to rise. Which means Hurgah kinda got hosed there. He would have just closed instead of making a grapple attempt and never have been hit with that attack of opportunity.

We're practically on to the next round by now and it wouldn't have made a big difference, so we'll just go with it as it happened. And it looks like Karek may have picked-up on what Hurgah was trying to do anyways. I'll be keen to learn if he succeeds. It looks close.

Happy Family Day to Beetle and Xerissa. The day of enjoying your peeps! And all the rest of you too, of course, although probably not officially on your calendars. :)

Thank you sir! I believe the Americans get President's Day. Do the Euros get a pseudo-holiday as well? (Not bashing! I'll take any day off and like it.)

Male Half-orc Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 4 / Sorcerer 1/Dragon Disciple 3

Hurgah gains a new spell known for level 8. A 1st level spell from the sor/wiz spell list. I'm thinking of shield. Any other brilliant suggestions that would fit the Reavers unique style?

How about ear piercing scream.

Also on my shortlist. Hurgah don't quite have the casting stat to support spells that rely on saves, but it is a nice spell.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Okay, I forgot. How do we do hit points?

Hit Points are as per Pathfinder Society rules for leveling.

Assuming I am correct that Breach is taking a level of fighter, then he gets 6 hit points, plus his Con bonus, plus possibly 1 more if he takes a hit point as his favorite class bonus. Plus Toughness, if applicable.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Cool. Thanks. And yes, you are correct, good sir. And with the ability point for 8th level(going to Con), that raises my hit points up by 17 total. :)

And finally leveled up as well.

My apologies if I've been holding things up. This has been a crazy-busy week. I hope to have Gandel leveled-up tomorrow evening. Taking next level in Bard, by the way.

Male Dwarf Barbarian (Breaker) 8

Whatever I had planned for that level-up post has completely evaporated. I knew I should have taken notes. Ah, well. I am fully committed to this game, but Writer's Block is a beast, and life doesn't quit. Keep up the good work everybody (else)!

Just go all emo and stuff. Whatever plops into your mind. It'll be awesome. We need our power brute at level 8.

Male Dwarf Cleric 8

Update, the wife is going to the hospital tomorrow to induce labor. I will be available again next Saturday, I will complete my leveling post then.

Congrats in advance Denis! Very exciting!

Remember: Hurgah makes for a delightful name for both a boy and a girl.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Congratulations, bud! Hope all goes well!

Male Dwarf Barbarian (Breaker) 8

Oh my! Congratulations! Makes my delaying seem frivolous. (It is, though.)

New additions to the dwarven clan? Bravo. Blessings of Folgrit upon you all.

And I agree with the Beetle - what better way to please the Forge-Fire god than to name your offspring after a firebreathing foe-crusher?

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Okay, Halstadt, whatever you do, DON'T listen to these guys. That would be just wrong in all kinds of ways. NO child wants to grow up with that kind of name.

Now, Javell on the other hand, has a pretty nice ring to it. ;)

Heads up - I'm running a PbP playtest of one of the round 4 entries in RPG Superstar - Link to recruitment thread.

Hey guys! Got some company this week and my computer access isn't what I thought it would be. Things will be back to normal on my end by Sat. Hopefully by then some brave soul will come forward and let me know what you guys intend to do.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I nearly forgot, but Breach took a rank in Linguistics so he can finally understand all this crazy talk.

Hope everything went OK there at the hospital Halstadt (insert real name)! Best wishes and all.

Javell DeLeon wrote:

Cool. Just so we're on the same page, I see Breach has taken "Ancient Osiriani" (the language spoken by Ro An Hap and appearing on the walls of the pyramid). My recollection was he was going to take "Osiriani" (the language of the locals, spoken by Khymrasa, the slaves, Ghoukan, Lydia, the Sand Sage etc.)

He can take either, just not both, unless he's ready to devote two ranks into linguistics.
