She sits there and ponders it for a few minutes while playing with some mundane objects and occasionally coating one in ice before putting it down. "What you say makes sense......I definitely don't want to make anyone else mad at me or freak out in a storm or something and accidentally freeze something I shouldn't, thereby making the commanding officer or one of those scary knights mad at me. I wasn't ever taught how to.....control it, just told....told not to do it, and treated like someone with a disease.....but it's not like I don't want to learn. If you're willing to put up with me, then Ill do my best to learn from you. Is that okay?" Digging through her pack she pulls out some flowers they had picked on their way to the ship. She concentrates and coats each one in a thin layer of ice. Looking at it her eyes light up, "Oohhh that's pretty."

Goldi was busy on deck sitting on truffles rubbing his back. She wasn't far away from Frosty as she was talking to the other fellow.. Jettar she thinks he is called.

Frosty come over with the Flower. and Gold stops rubbing truffles down to see. that's really great. Its about time you realized your gift. is not a curse.

Goldi hops off of Truffles. and goes to see the bear next.

Sooo, Frostine, I see lots of boys have an interest in you. she looks about the others on the voyage. not any other halflings that I have seen. Still, you already got plans for breakfast then?

sense motive DC 12:

Goldi seem troubled, just a little bit.

Goldi swirls her fingers around some of the flowers she was using to make truffles look pretty and the nearly wilted flowers spring back into bloom looking as fresh as when they were picked.

the same type of flowers Frostine was holding.

She looks down, the smile on her face fading a bit. She holds the flowers gently in her hands, "I...I still don't know about all that. I'm trying to learn Goldi, really I am. It's just...when you hear something said to you over and over again for so long...you just sorta start to believe it. After a while, it's hard to see anything differently."

At Goldi's mention of boys she feels a slight heat come to her cheeks and turns her head to look out to the dark water. "I wouldn't say I have plans exactly....but, after breakfast Jettar was going to try and help me start learning how to control this...."gift" of mine. We can still have breakfast together, Mr. Truffles will probably get most of mine anyways."

She looks at Goldi for a few minutes, a thoughtful expression on her face.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Unable to tell for sure if there was actually something wrong with her friend or not, Frostine wraps her arms around Goldi and gives her a hug.
"Don't worry, I'm not really thinking about "boys" just yet. You're not going to lose me that easily."

Goldi found herself actually braiding Shadrath's fur with little flowers in the braids, as she was listening to Frostine.

I have always told you that it wasn't a curse, out of everyone I hoped you would believe me at least.

she sighs and stops braiding, leaving part of Shadrath's fur looking like flowered dreadlocks.

I think I'm getting tired, I'll see you for breakfast then?

She starts to head to the bow of the ship hoping to enjoy the last night of warm air for a while.

It doesn't take a genius to figure out Goldi is bothered by something, and it probably isn't boys

Sugarsnap had not gone far, she was up toward the bow of the ship resting and looking at the night sky.

when Frosty comes up she glances toward her, Huh? what do you mean? nothing is wrong.

her voice says nothing is wrong but Frosty can see in her eyes a look she has only seen in Goldi's eyes once before.

flashback cut scene

One time Goldi came to visit Frostine and Truffles was not with her. the whole visit Goldi insisted that nothing was wrong, but that look in Golgi's eye said there was. truffles was real sick. he ate something that he wasn't supposed to eat and Goldi thought he was gonna die that very night. Goldi tried her hardest to not tell frostine, afraid that it would upset her.

Goldi has that same look in her eyes now. but this time it is pretty obvious Truffles is not sick at all.

A few tears fall as she sits on the deck of the ship holding onto Sugarsnap. In many ways, Sugarsnap had become to Frostine, the replacement for her own mother. While she was sure that in their own way her parents still loved her....it felt like this whole marriage thing was just a way of them getting rid of her so people in the town would stop talking about it. About her, and her "curse".

The first time she ever remembered freezing anything was maybe when she was four or five. She was in the gardens with her mother and there had been a snake. Frostine had screamed and threw up her hands, and....the snake was frozen. Her mother having seen what she did just sort of gasped and picked up Frostine, "Frostine.....don't do that again. It's wrong, hear me? People will start talking and it could ruin their faith in your father. Just...don't do it again." Frostine had tried not to cry, but she couldn't understand why her mother was so upset. "I...I'm sorry mama....I'll be good, I'll try not to do it again." The small child that was Frostine cried as her mother put her back down. She felt so small when people looked at her like that. Was it any wonder that she literally attached herself to Sugarsnap when she found her under that table? She was only six at the time....but, so afraid of people, of being found out, of getting yelled at, but most of all....afraid of hurting her parents.

She shakes her head trying to rid herself of the memories she had dredged up from so long ago. Wiping her eyes she loosens her grip on Goldi and pulls back a little bit. "Sorry....guess I'm still a little clingy after all." She pulls out a kleenex from one of her many pockets, wipes at her face and blows her nose.

I didn't feel like I could even try until we got away from there. I've been afraid of one thing or another my whole life Sugarsnap.....I'm just tired of being afraid."
