Eleanor sets up the boards and lashes them together with some rope. Soon, you have a functional sled.

Looking at all the snow on the ground, then back at the crates she walks around them to get an idea of how big they were. The crates appeared to be about fifteen cubic feet (Henry's terms, here. 5x5x5) or so, using a sled she might be able to make a path that wide all the way back to camp, but all of them would have to push a crate and even with her ice path it would take a while to get back.

Craning her head up to look at Sig, she covers her eyes with one of her hands as the hood of her cloak falls back slightly. A little sheepishly she says, "Well....If I'm just concentrating on doing that I think I can...I....my particular talent wasn't really encouraged back home....so, I never fully learned how to use it. Goldie's been great and very encouraging and Mr. Jettar is trying to help me....but, I guess I'm just a slow learner. If I can it would make pushing them back to camp much easier though." She sort of shrugs her small shoulders slightly and smiles a bit nervously.

"Perhaps if we pushed and had Shadrath push, it would make progress easier." Sigridrifa says looking over at Jettar and his companion.

Which immediately made me think of this

Lol....nice. I'm pretty sure there's more than one crate. How many were there honey?

Five.

Okay......so we may have to get a little inventive, but if I can make an ice path to make pushing them easier and we can put 2 of the crates on the sled.....I can maybe help Sig pull the sled while making the ice path, and the rest of you can each take one with your animal companion assisting? It's gonna take a while to get back doing it this way....but honestly I don't see how else we could do it. Ray of frost is a zero level spell.....but even so, after using it for two or three hours straight while helping to push a heavy sled is gonna wear her out and she's probably gonna need rest before we're able to make it all the way back to camp. Does anyone else have any thoughts on how we can do this?

Wow, I can't believe I posted this in the discussion thread. I'm awake, I swear.

Jettar had been thinking while the sled was being put together. "I have another thought. If I manifest water right in front of the sled, then Frostine could freeze it to make it much easier to pull. Between Shadrath, Sigrdrifa, and Eleanor, you should have enough pull to make it work."

Translation: While the three of them pull, I cast Create Water (since it's spam-able) and Frostine casts Ray of Frost (also spam-able).

That's maybe 1 5 foot square/round of ice. We might get back to camp next week if we're lucky.

Hmmm, I didn't say I prepared my spells. If I prepare two copies of Ant Haul, and cast them on the strongest character, then the rest of us can assist with the pulling. The spell lasts 2 hours/level and triples carrying capacity, so we should be able to get it back with a rest halfway back.

That depends. Looking at the character strength scores, Eleanor is the strongest. She has a max load of 230, with Ant Haul that goes up to 690. Now dragging is x5 max load, which goes up to 3450. With everyone else helping we might be able to.

After your break, you press on and make to camp well after nightfall. Micah gets a few of his men to take the crates from your sled after you make it into the glade. He thanks you profusely and informs you that there are leftovers in the mess tent.

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

Feeling worn out and famished from the long trek to get the supplies, Frostine nods gratefully at Micah before taking her winter cloak off and storing it in her and Goldi's tent. Hearing Goldi's stomach rumble and seeing Mr. Truffles pace around the tent anxiously gets a slight giggle out of Frostine.

"Alright, I agree. I'm actually pretty hungry so let's go eat. I might actually eat a whole plate or whatever of food this time. Don't worry Truffles, I'll still make sure you get plenty."

Frostine heads over to the mess tent with Goldi and Truffles right next to her.

"Well here's to a successful mission!" Sigrdrífa says triumphantly. As they head to the mess tent she grins. "So shoult I regale the camp with the song of Ellie the mighty tonight?" she asks with a wink.

Frostine, Goldi, and Mr. Truffles join the others in the mess tent. Once she gets a rather full plate of food for herself, and a sizable portion for Mr. Truffles before joining the others at the table.

Nodding at Sig and Ellie she says, "It was very well done....you were pretty amazing Eleanor. I've never seen anything quite like that before." She sets the extra food down for Mr. Truffles while she works her own food. Afraid to eat too quickly and upset her stomach, she eats at her own pace as Mr. Truffles scarfs down his plate and looks up to her for more. Goldi finishes well before Frosty as well and goes back for seconds before she can even finish her first plate, but that was never anything unusual for Frostine. Actually, tonight was the first time that she was actually eating most of the food on her plate without giving most of it to Mr. Truffles.

Looking back up at the others she says, "I think we do make a pretty good team....I mean we all have things that we're pretty good at....most of the time anyways." She gets a little quiet and concentrates on the rest of her food.

Eleanor turns a little red. "Joke all you like but if we don't plan these things better in the future we'll be in some serious trouble."

She sighs as she starts to play with what's left of her food. While only looking up slightly she says, "We're not joking.......I mean, I know we're a little disorganized right now.....but, we can get better. I didn't say that stuff to embarrass you Ellie.....really." Not knowing what else to say she looks back down at her plate as she moves the food around on it again before deciding that she's done and puts it on the floor for Truffles.

Wiping her hands off she looks around casually for a particularly tall and rugged looking....well she had to stop thinking like that. Just wondering how his day went is all... She thinks to herself as her eyes scan the area inside the tent.

Though Frostine looks about carefully, she isn't able to see Thorgr's face anywhere among the few people who are in the tent.

She lets out a small sigh and looks around before looking back down with a slight smirk on her face as she thinks about something. After about a minute she stretches out her arms and possibly slightly exaggerates a bit of a yawn, "Well...that was a really good meal on top of a very long day. I think I'm gonna....go for a walk and then go rest." She gives Goldi's arm a light squeeze as she gets up from the table and excuses herself. She makes her way out of the mess tent and walks around while trying to look nonchalant as she keeps an eye out for Thorgr, or Lt. Micah. Maybe Thorgr and his men went to look for the fresh water? Oh...I hope they didn't run into any trouble She quickens her pace slightly as she makes her way through the camp.

Though she did not notice it earlier, Mr. Truffles follows at a safe distance to keep an eye on the young maiden.

"You're right about the need for planning Ellie, but no one's making fun. You were amazing back there." Sig says with a grin. "We should talk to the Leiutenant about planning for stuff like this. There was a woman, an officer that came just before they gave out the assignments."

Jettar ate his meal beside Shadrath, and quietly observed his companions. Part of learning about nature was in observing it, and the same could be said about learning things of your companions. Several lifetimes had taught the Druid that.

Frostine finds Thorgr asleep in his tent, while Lt. Micah is cataloging the contents of the crates you brought.

F Human Sorcerer [Boreal (Rime-Blooded)]4; HP: 21/21; AC: 13, FF: 10, T: 12; Fort +2, Ref +4, Will +6; Perception +5; Init: +2

Seeing the large man sleeping brings a sigh of relief from her, even though she can't quite understand why she feels that way looking at him. Not noticing the ever present and watchful eyes of Mr. Truffles, Frostine backs away from the tent. She didn't want to disturb him while he was sleeping. Truffles continues to follow Frostine to make sure she doesn't stumble into some kind of trouble as she finds the officer going over the crates. He hangs back far enough not to be noticed, but close enough in case he needs to charge in and save the day.
Not wanting to startle anyone, Frostine stops a few feet behind him and clears her throat. She makes sure he notices her before approaching, "Excuse me Sir? I was just wondering if everything made it back alright? I was also kind of curious as to whether or not a fresh water source was located? We had some really great people with us that really helped getting the supplies back......but well, we weren't as well prepared as maybe we should have been? I was hoping that maybe in the future we can better plan these missions Sir? Just sayin' is all......anyways I thought I should tell you that we heard wolves when we stopped to rest, about halfway here. I'm sorry....I tend to babble sometimes, and I'm told far too curious for my own good. Okay, I'll be quiet now so you can get your work done." She makes a motion across her lips as if sealing something, locking it, and then motions as if throwing something away.
Truffles maintains his guard position, ready to run interference in case the man got too close to his young charge.
Frostine takes a seat on an empty box while she waits for him to finish his work, completely unaware of her stealthy guardian.

"Yes, everything is in good order," Micah says, not looking up from his list. "Thorgr and the others managed to find a water source, but I'd like to do another investigation tomorrow, if you're up to it. The waterfall he found wasn't exactly unguarded and he had a rough fight...I apologize that I couldn't provide better for your trip and I will do my best to help you in the future."

He turns to Frostine. "Wolves, eh? I guess that's to be expected. Thank you for telling me."

Frostine listens to Micah, her face falling somewhat at the mention of Thorgr having a tough battle. Concern lines her face as she looks up, "He had a rough fight? Was he hurt badly? Should I have Goldie take a look at him? Was anyone else hurt?" She stops herself and tries to control the heat she feels coming to her cheeks, "Sorry...I'm sorry they had such a rough time of it. I'm totally up for it...but, I should probably check with the others. I think they're still in the mess tent..I'll go check with them. Maybe stop by and give details when you have a chance? We'll need to know what was guarding the waterfall and how many, where they came from if they can tell us that...anything else that might be useful for us to know about the area the waterfall was found in.....maybe after he's rested I can ask Thorgr if he'd like to go with us...but, like I said, I'll need to check with the others first. Would you like to tell me what I need to know to tell them about it, or would you like me to have them wait in the mess tent until you're ready to come explain the situation to us? I thought of the wolves as almost an afterthought...but, I'm glad we were able to help and that the information we came back with was helpful. Thank you for trusting us with such an important mission."

Scratching behind Shadrath's ear, Jettar asked the Skald, "So Sig, do you know any tales of Garhazan?"

Micah smiles warmly at Frostine. "He came back with a couple scrapes, same as the rest of his men. Nothing to really worry about. They ran into a group of centaurs and tried to negotiate with them with no success. Thorgr was careful not to harm any of them while defending himself. If we can establish good relations with them, that would be the best outcome."

Frostine's eyes go wide, "Centaurs? Really? Oh wow...I've never seen one before I don't think. Oh oh....maybe if I can get the others to agree we can go and I can see if maybe I can talk to them? Centaurs....how fascinating." She looks down for a moment before looking back up at Micah, "Don't really know if they'll listen to me or not....but, hey...couldn't hurt to try right?"

"I hope they'll understand that we're not here to hurt them or take over their territory," Micah answers. "I think you might be able to convince them of that."

Looking up she smiles slightly, "Really? You're serious right? You really have no intention of trying to take their land or cause harm? I want to be sure if I'm supposed to be going as representative of this settlement that I come to them in all honesty and truth, without holding anything back." She looks away for a moment, knowing that she herself had been less than honest with most of those she knew here....but, really what could be done about that? She didn't want anyone treating her differently or thinking badly of her for the decision she made. Let's be honest....I'm just worried what they'll think of me. Like Thorgr said...is it really that big of a deal? She shakes her head trying to get back to some kind of point, "Okay, so you want me to take a few people with me and try and talk to them? I'm pretty sure we can handle it....let me go talk to them now while they're still up and see if it's alright with them and who wants to go." Looking off towards Thorgr's tent she says, "I guess I can talk to him about it in the morning and see if he wishes to go back there...though seeing what happened last time I would doubt it." She shrugs, "Is there anything else I should know before going back and talking to the others about it?"

Micah shakes his head. "That's all I know, so you can talk to the others and then set out in the morning. At least have Thorgr direct you to the place, it's a bit off the beaten path. And, in all honesty, we'd rather have friends that can tell us about this place rather than enemies who we'd have to contend with to keep this camp safe."
