Agreed. I didn't expect to enjoy the system as much as I am right now when I first started playing this. I'm really considering running a real life game of the One Ring now.
I *thoroughly* enjoy this system. It's not nearly as crazy math intensive as most d20 games tend to be and it has a nice narrative feel to it.
I'm going to say; I'm not going to wait more than 24 hours between my own posts. I will post spoilers if significant events happen between post, but there are currently 8 players and me. So 9 posts would be me posting one thing and everyone else posting one thing...which I feel is pretty reasonable. I will do my best to keep everything concise.

Just spent the last couple of hours fully plotting the campaign out (not individual adventure details, just what will happen when)...I am excited for you guys to play it, it should be pretty epic!
My favorite thing about table top games have always been communal storytelling. I think TOR does a very good job of that with Fellowship Phases and Year's End, where I essentially let you all influence the narrative. I dig stuff like that.
Sounds good to me. I happen to be out of town through Wednesday, but should be able to post during that time. The only day that will be tough is Wednesday.
It's okay, man, thanks for checking in. We're in combat, so I'll post a recap right now as to where we are and all the rolls you are entitled/required to make.
I'm planning to be dropping this campaign. The posting is way to fast paced for me to be able to keep up. This morning I woke to 37 new posts and I've lost track of the story and what has happened.
It was fun to try something new, but not fully understanding the system and fighting this posting speed, I just can't keep myself interrested to play it.
I wish you all a good game and hope you are enjoying this more then I am.

I'm sorry to see you go. I hope you find another game that fits your style better. That's what I find great about doing PbP there are so many different styles out there.
Ok, I was thinking the place was packed with them....We should be fine. They say it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. :P
This system is almost as deadly as Rolemaster. I miss that game especially for MERP.
I think I'm going to focus on making regular shots for now. 3d6 = not a good enough chance to make possibly hitting 2 guys at once worth it (since failure = a complete miss).
Part of me wishes I was a melee character now simply so I could experience the hard decision making melee guys have to make (stance choices, etc). As it is playing Archer seems really simple: stand in the back, have a good Bow skill, and pew-pew. Though now I also see why most everyone is trained in a ranged weapon of some kind from their background: it lets you back off and join the Rear if you get start taking too many hits.
So, the Gameplay thread keeps eating my posts right now, I think the wifi on my mobile is wonky right now. Posting here seems to be okay so I'll post my action here. Also, CR said the Treasure was 20 points worth, he just hasn't updated the shares yet.
Anariel will stow his bow and rush forward, utilizing his newly found weapon! What's a bit of Orc blood on top of the detritus already on the sword?
Anariel will engage three of the Orcs in combat, and utilize the Swift Strokes combat maneuver to hit two of them.
Ok. Treasure is updated and I'll respond to this post on Gameplay; for reference, in the future I'd prefer if you message me any difficulties posting and I'll roll for you in Gameplay to keep everything condensed.

This week has been filled with taxes (mine and my mother's), making offers on a house and my oldest son's fourth birthday (today). So, no appearances from me until tomorrow, probably.
@Hanar I hope I didn't swoop the repair job for Wolfbiter away from you. As a fellow dwarf, if there's something dwarfish you want to do, chime right in. I'll work with you to iron it out.

My character profile is updated with advancement points broken down by skill group. I'll think on it a moment and spend my points soon- I saved the initial extra points from character creation to see what would be best to spend it on.
Wait, whaaaa'? I don't know why I thought this, but I thought you could only spend the AP you earned on the skill category you earned it with. Do you mean I can spend the AP I earned on any of the Common Skills?

Galadhon has 9 advancement points and spends 8 of them gaining Lore 5. He banks the last AP.
Galadhon has 12 Experience points. He spends 6 to gain a rank in Wisdom and 6 to gain Longsword 3. With his new rank in Wisdom, he gains a Virtue and takes "Elbereth Gilthoniel!"
AFAIK, that's a Fellowship Undertaking as well, so you'd have to wait for the next Fellowship Phase. But gaining new specialties means swapping out an old one.
There are certain virtues that grant you extraordinary qualities and the like (such as Small Folk granting Small), but otherwise you trade a specialty/quality for another specialty/quality.
Brandy's got the right of it. There are some Undertakings that give you a Specialty for the next Adventuring Phase (Gather Wood in the Elf-wood gives you Fire-making, for instance), but other than that you can swap out one you have by doing the Gain A New Specialty undertaking.
*everyone points and laughs at the elf with his NERD GLASSES*
But yeah, I'd say that Undertakings for temporary ones are a good bet. Fire-Making could actually be really useful, as I've observed in the other game (I sincerely underestimated it).
I'm gonna think about what to buy with my AP, but I'm thinking some Battle wouldn't be a terrible bet. Or maybe Lore.
