Sunset, |
"C'mon pup, I dun't like it down here any more'n yerself..." Sunset mutters as she again tries to 'coral' the critter.
CMB:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4(Plus any bonuses for the poor critter's condition. Sunset trying to entangle with the blanket etc)
*SPLAT*
KenderKin |
The marsupial has cleverly devised it's own method of escape, using Sunset like a tree and springboard the thing charges, and climbs her, and leaps for the edge of the pit.....
Inadvertently causing 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 of damage to Sunset....
The creature gains the edge barely and enters the area in front of the Chief and Torod.....
Sunset, |
Sunset picks herself and the now sodden blanket up out of the mud at the bottom of the pit. Bends down and rescues her hat from the soupy morass (Making sure to clean it off reasonably well with things to hand) before looking up towards the edge of the pit where said beasty has managed to escape too....
"Well... no good deed goes unpunished..." She mutters and awaits herself being hauled out of the place...
Chief White Eagle |
CWE lowers his spear, He tries to soothe the creature, letting it know we mean it no harm.
handle animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
easy boy, we mean no harm. let me check you for injuries. he tries to use a soothing voice, though he does not approach just yet. his hands exposed to show no weapon and no threat.
Sunset, |
Sunset sighs and leans against the pit's wall. Using her hat and the lee of the slope to keep the worst of the rain off.
Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
She absently wonders if anything else has fallen into the pit.....
Chief White Eagle |
CWE pulls out some of the meat from the Dragoons that we slain earlier. offering it carefully to the beast. You are hungry, must have been there a long time.
Sunset, |
Sunset waits patiently at the bottom of the pit for things to run their course....
Chief White Eagle |
I am pretty sure we have plenty of meat from those wyrm things right?
Setting his spear down CWE pulls out another piece of meat hoping to get a little closer and keeping the beast calm.
handle animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
Torod |
Torod and Strawberry slowly back away. Trying to make the animal less apprehensive.
Handle Animal Aid Other: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
They go to the other side of the pit trap and lower a rope for Sunset.
Sunset, |
Sunset climbs out of the pit, wipes, shakes and other wise getting most of the muck of herself in the light rain as she watches Chief make a potential furry friend.
With Chief busy and herself as clean as she's likely to get Sunset moves to her mount and begins combing through its feathers. Working at keeping the large avian some what comfortable in the inclement weather. After a time she takes out another of her cigars and lights it up.
Sunset, |
Sunset sighs and puts a heavier blanket on her poor, bedraggled avian,
"Well, t'were fun gettin' pup out'a yon pit. But we'd best be lookin' fer a tad more shelter less'n we all drown standin' up." She declares over the pouring rain. With a hint of frustration she tucks her cigar into an inner pocket of her vest.
Perception:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
KenderKin |
The night is rainy, but both groups find a sun greeting them and a bright lightly cloudy day to continue their journey....
Strawberry and the Brush Thyancinth seem to have curled up together, as the fire alone was not enough to free the beast from the chill and to break a fever.
Sunset, |
Sunset nods at Torod's conjuring of the large silk looking tent before moving inside and first seeing to the tending and caring of her mount.
Removing its saddle and packs Sunset sets to grooming and drying Fluff's plumage before settling the beast down for the night with a feed bag over its beak.
She then sees to herself. With no self consciousness showing she strips down to her 'Particulars' and begins to use the rain water to help clean off her dirty clothes. muddied from the pit encounter.
Once reasonably happy with her efforts she returns inside to hang said apparel before pulling a second set from her packs. Once she's dried herself down she changes into the clean gear and thence helps with the preparing of 'Vittles' for every one else.
Once the animals and herself are tucked away for the night she chooses a spot closest tot he shelters door. There to partake in what seems to becoming a nightly ritual of lighting and thence inhaling one of the rolled leaves she's got stored away in a small case inside her vest.
Chief White Eagle |
White Eagle rose early to hunt. the new beast was still resting, having found peace and hopefully new friends.
survival to hunt for food: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (17) + 13 = 30
Having arrived back at camp as the rest were making preps to move on.
CWE presented the catch of a few rabbits as well as a small bundle of berries. but the finest catch was a deer straddled over the back of his horse.
food for the journey. he says.
He then gives thanks the earth spirit for the bounty as he gives some to the animals (that is both Strawberry and the Brush Thyancinth). and preps the rest for the journey.
Looking to Torod, We continue out journey to your base? he asks.
Sunset, |
Sunset rises and shines. Working at helping pack away the evening's camp. Though she uses the morning sun to try and get as much of her clothes, gear, mount and self dry as possible.
At the Chief's words Sunset nods,
"Aye, there's some things I'd like t'be doin' which needs be done back at tha' fort."
Seraph_ |
Seraph stretches, having slept rather well even though her dreams as of late were of a white land and falling snow. It was pleasant sleep and she smiled broadly at Asta, her tail wagging behind her in tune with her warm start to the morning. "Looks like its high time we saw Svetlana. I am starting to miss her stew." She settles her blade across her back before setting about cleaning up their firepit, dousing what was left of the fire and leaving the stones erected for the next passerby.
She slipped a coin into Mikmeks hidden food and smirked as she covered it up again. "Always tip for a good time."
Once the cave was settled she would lead Julius and the donkey outside and prepare to set off with Asta and their new friend Crackjaw once more.
KenderKin |
On the road to Oleg's... Asta and Seraph
The mite finds the sun uncomfortable, but to your surprise Crackjaw pulls out a woven wide brimmed hat...
"Made it myself."
...the spider complains..."Yes, you helped."
the hat is woven from reeds, but also silk you guess from the spider...
The mite looks to you....
"Shall we look in on the baby, or the moonradishes, or both, or just go straight to Oleg's? "
Sunset, |
Sunset stops her mount, though she 'moves it to one side' to give Cheif and Torod more room as she looks from Pup to them and back. If the two men look at her she just shrugs,
"Hey, I just rescue critters out'a holes. Ye ask'n me? If'n a bod wants ta' hunt somat, ye put tha' hard work in or go back ta' farmin'. Don't go diggin' holes all over t'place. Bad as people leavin' dang mine-shafts layin' about." She sits easily and casually in her saddle as she awaits any developments between Chief, Torod and Pup.
Chief White Eagle |
Chief aka CWE stays by the thyacinth. Once they reach the plains seeing the creature's hesitation, CWE kneels before the creature.
He hands it a small snack, you are free to go friend. know that you are welcome in these lands as a friend.
(CWE speaks in the language of the wolf knowing it does not understand he hopes that it may catch on better than if he spoke common)
handle animal: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
once Torod returns, then let us make haste to the fort. I am sure some would like to have a warm bed to rest tonight and to finish drying their clothing. motioning toward Sunset.
I cannot find any art for this creature. also I never ended up using Charm animal spell, It is my only available domain spell for level 1 and I thought I would never use it. now there was a chance and I never used it.
KenderKin |
Seraph_ |
Seraphs head swivels at the baby comment, part of her going into full on adventure mode. Which is easily shown as her tail starts twitching upward, almost appearing 'U' shaped as she waits for the Mite to respond to Asta.
Seraph_ |
Seraph raises an eyebrow, unsure if she was present for the struggle or not. "It seems important to ensure nothing has disturbed the spiders at least. If Crackjaw thinks it is safe and the journey is not too far off course. Up to you milady Asta."
KenderKin |
Asta and Serpah make the journey to the open field where the trapdoor spider's lair once was....
Crackjaw coaxes two spiders no bigger than his hands from a crack aside the trapdoor...
It is a strange thing to witness the vermin empathy that the mites have, though some would say it is more like the mites presence allows the vermin to have intelligence beyond the hive mindset. The role of insects in the first world must have been very different...
Of course you have all seen the insect ridden by the mite chief, certainly if a bug could have brains that one would be it....
Crackjaw smiles "These are big enough to travel, just warn the bird to stay afar as they are young."
Sunset, |
Sunset is happy/content to spend time spelling her mount and picking berries before her group's return to the fort.
(^_^)
Interwebz is very choppy for me atm. :(
Seraph_ |
Seraph nods, smiling despite her awkwardness around such large spiders. "Good, your tribe will be most please with this turn of events eh Crackjaw? Though will these spiders help your tribe?" She says this as they make to leave the old traped spiders nest and move on to Oleg's, albeit a bit more slowly.
