Koth nudges Carini and she grunts a bit, and surrender himself...If he is truly, as noble and self sacrificing as he claims to be! *har!* But, make it quick..your friend stirs and I don't want to deal with her wiggling around while she's not stunned by my power. I may just have to snap her feet off with my claws...so she stops trying to escape...Muh ha ha ha! As if to demonstrate his conviction Koth'Vaul opens continues to pin Carini with his massive foot but, places an open claw just above her left ankle. Well what's it going to be? Should we put this one's best foot forward?

Carini has 3 rounds of stun left. A quick look at Kalkamedes sees him sitting by the elf woman stroking her hair..She is still not moving and Kalkamedes seems unaware of his surroundings except he is calm and has apparently found what he is looking for.

I am not sure what type of check to make to do this whispered conversing. Or to cast stealthily. If it is even possible.

Here we go!

"Right then, lobster," Kranzer says. "I'll make the sacrifice." He turns to the others. "I've got a lockbox under the floorboards of Cham Larringfass's Ramblehouse in Trunau. If I'm lobster-bait in the next few minutes, you hire a good safe cracker and open 'er up and follow the instructions. That's what I ask as yer captain! Ha HA!"

His laugh is weak, quivering almost. He strides forward, sword hand shaking ever so slightly, (Gamin would be able to feel this) to end up next to the circle and the demon it holds. He turns around. "Mentys, drag Carini away."

Down to the last card, and the stakes've never been higher. Now let's see if Farlen and the others know what to do next.

He throws his hands wide like the circus performers that used to roll through Magnimar, blasting their trumpets and fanfares along the streets. He says, looking straight at Farlen, "All right boys, buff me up. Sword, if you can help too, it'll help us get Kalk outta this."

Kranzer and the rest of you plan the moment of escape just when Carini starts recovering from the stun effect. Koth'Vaul maintain grapple/pin: 1d20 + 24 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 24 + 5 = 42

Koth Vaul's Bluff: 1d20 + 28 ⇒ (6) + 28 = 34 Since none of you have sense motive high enough to detect Koth'Vaul's lie, Kranzer approaches as does Mentys (to Drag away Carini) The sword adds +1 guidance to Kranzer CMD and the grease +10 Kranzer approaches the Demon trying to fool the thing with one last desperate attempt at a trade. But, the Demon Koth' Vaul has treachery of his own on mind. As Kranzer draws within reach, Koth'Vaul switches his grip on Carini from his large Pincers to his smaller equally as strong claws. An audible grunt can be heard from Carini indicated she is, again un-stunned. As the Demon switches his grip, Farlen's spell coats Kranzer with grease and the sword aids Kranzer with some small amgic too. Mentys reaches down to grab Carini but finds the Demon hasn't let go. His smaller claws pinning her like a magnet to an anvil. Meanwhile the Demon's larger pincers suddenly shoot for Kranzer in a readied motion; (readied attack) and try to grab the rogue as well as the woman Carini! grapple: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (16) + 24 = 40 The pincer closes tight around Kranzer as he realizes he made a terrible miss-calculation. Why hello Paladin liar! I've been lonely these last thousand years or so...Why don't you tell your friends what I'm about to do to you if they don't start destroying this circle now! The giant pincer squeezes tighter around Kranzer...there's little doubt that the Demon will kill at least one of his two hostages...if his demands aren't met.

So Farlen had a readied action 1st, So did the Demon 2nd, both Kranzer and Mentys moved but have not finished the rest of their actions (each has a standard or a move left) Vulf, Carini, and Hudor can roll for initiative to see who actually acts first between them but it really shouldn't matter. There is apparent menace in the Demon's actions. If the party doesn't act soon, something bad is most likely going to happen.

OK we are going by rounds now Kranzer is not grappled, but standing next to the Demon. Mentys just got through trying to pull Carini away but, found the attempt useless. Hudor is in shock and took no action. The people in bold may act before the Demon gets a turn.

Kranzer wiggles out of the Demon's claw almost as soon as it grapples him. *What*! Huh! I will slay you for your impudence paladin Dwarf! Your games will not go unpunished!

Sorry as I mentioned you had already moved forward in the round Mentys . You and Kranzer's moment cued the readied attack by Koth'Vaul. So you had already taken a movement (that you actually moved squares) action.Then you decided to try and pull Carini loose (which I'll count as an 'aid another roll' grapple). You cannot move in a round and take a 5ft step.

It appears there is no benefit in aiding Carini’s grapple check. It appears that whether Vulf succeeds or fails, Carini is only freed on a nat. 20.

If this analysis is incorrect and Carini could realize and actual benefit from a successful aid:
Vulf moves forward and attempts to help Carini gain her freedom. CMB (Aid Another to Carini): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

Assuming that analysis is correct, Vulf will perform a Strength check(?) to help pull a comrade to safety:

Strength to Pull a Pathfinder(?): 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

If Carini breaks free of grapple:
Vulf races toward the elven fighter, crying out, “I will take you into my arms, fair Carini!” Recalling the woman's first words to him, he grabs hold of her, and adds softly with smile and a tear trailing down his cheek.That is, if you are not going to tell me not to try.” The northman then attempts to pull Carini away from the demon. The Strength check is an attempt to pull Carini to safety.

If Carini does not break free of grapple:
Vulf races towards the elven fighter, extending his arm out towards her. ”Forgive me for my weakness, fair Carini!”, the northman cries as tears begin to pour from his eyes, “If this be where we part, then I shall look for you among the archons of Heaven!” . Acknowledging that he can do no more to save the woman, the large Ulfen man begins to openly sob. ”And if I cannot find you among such company, then I shall trek through the fields of Elysium or the breadth of Nirvana until we are reunited!” Then he closes his eyes, grabs ahold of the already freed Kranzer and attempts to pull the dwarf away from the demon. The Strength check is an attempt to pull Kranzer to safety.

If Vulf is to die by the hand/claw/pincer of a demon, then he shall do so attempting to save someone’s life!

Thanks Vulf, for the roll. However, I'd like everyone to pause at this point and give everyone a chance to reach out to a VO if they don't agree with my ruling. Should everything be as Kranzer said, your CMB roll would actually auto succeed and you could basically move him anywhere within' your reach that was un-occupied. If that's the way a VO rules it, I'll have to stick with that, ruling. Therefore, I don't want to get too far ahead because we'll have to retcon that much more. When we resume, we'll know if Vulf's combat maneuver re-position was successful or not and it will be Farlen's turn.*edit* appears Farlen and I posted at same time...Farlen's action still counts but occurs after Vulf's

The conclusion of your adventure is not exactly as you might have hoped. The Demon Koth'Vaul offers no quarter it's soon very apparent that if you don't free him, Koth Vaul will slay Carini. The decision is difficult but, you've sworn allegiance to each other as much as The Pathfinder Society. So you set the Demon free.

Koth' Vaul does what Demon's do, when set free. He taunts you, threatens you with ever lasting death, and then commits murder by slaying the woman you believed to be an elf. The Demon is merciless , So little Ghaele...your heroes have failed you. The Demon touches her head while Kalkamedes cries nearby. Koth'Vaul eyes open suddenly. Sulianna ?! Your name is Sulianna...If I had not been imprisoned so long, I might have taken you back to the Abyss, for amusement! As it is, I feel I owe these earthlings a hundred years or so...of my special attention. So.... The Demon's claw casually snaps the ghaele's head off. The Demon's long tounge licks the blood off his claws.

Well my little....Pathfinders was what you called yourselves correct? I suspect your not a Paladin order at all or, you would have known, not to trust a Demon. After a bit more taunting Koth'Vaul leaves you this final warning. I've decided to let you live...er Pathfinders? I can already feel your dread and angst at having me roam Golarion unhindered. I relish it! Perhaps, someday I will return before you breathe your last feeble breathes. I will come and take you to my home in abyss. Do any of you know what a Dretch is! I've been trapped 3000 years, I'll see most of you in another 60 or so. Although, you little Dwarf, I might visit sooner. Koth'Vaul then teleports away to places unknown.

Kalkamedes screams when the Ghaele dies. He's comatose for several hours then finally comes to. His sword Gamin the Misforged, ridicules your group for, failing to adequately protect it's master. Kalkamedes seems off when he wakes. Your journey back, is brief but disturbing. Kalkamedes seems cured but disturbed. As for your group, you are burden with the knowledge that, you've let a very powerful Demon loose on Golarion.

Sheila Heidmarch welcomes you back. She raises an eyebrow at your decision to free the Demon Koth'Vaul but says little more than, It was an unfortunate situation you found yourself in. Perhaps it would be wise to exercise more caution next time?

You eventually depart Kalkamedes cabin and move on to other missions. However, you hear rumors of Kalkamedes having never fully recovered from his ordeal. When you see Sheila Heidmarch again she says, It's true, Kalkamedes is still haunted by the ordeal. The healers say it's nightmares of some sort. Nothing short of a powerful Heal spell, will cure him. The demarcate has declined to pay for it..it's a pity really. Thanks for inquiring about it...if you like a few of us have started a collection for Kalkamedes care. Your welcome to give whatever you can afford.

That concludes "Night march of Kalkamedes" As PCs you can choose to pool your money and purchase a Heal spell to cure Kalkamedes. This will "un-lock" one of the boons on your chronicle sheet. Prestige points are only for PCs so they cannot be used on Kalkamedes. Any other purchases should or rolls that you'd like to make should be done by tomorrow 3/22/2018 and I'll include them on your chronicle sheets.

This is Vulf's first scenario, so he has 7 gp to his name, which he'd happily pitch in. He would offer to sell additional items to contribute if necessary.

I've got a fair bit, 865 GP. I played my first 3 scenarios out of tier, I can throw that in the pot.

OK the total cost would be 660gp...you guys have more than enough..Vulf if you want to donate I can take like 50gp off the gold you get/earn, from this adventure (if not I'm sure no one will object, it is your first adventure). I would suggest a division starting with Carini's 150..then perhaps 100 from Hudor? 50 from Vulf. Mentys and Kranzer can divide the remainder. If Farlen wants to chip in he'll let us know. (these amounts are just suggestions.I will need to know what each character contributes to adjust the chronicle to reflect the coin spent) If Kalakmedes is healed all will be eligible for the extra boon/item (no mater if they contribute or not)

Put Farlen down for 100gp too. Kranzer and Mentys should not have to so much. Farlen can always make more jewelery. Bunicorn necklace anyone?[ See, it is a unicorn with butterfly wings. It is a top seller.

So here's how I'm going to take out Kalkamedes 'Heal' 150gp Carini, 130gp Mentys, 130gp Kranzer, 100gp Farlen, Hudor 100gp, 50gp Vulf. I'll have Chronicles ready later tonight look in the Drive Folder link for um'.
