Atsuko, the Conduit |
"Yes." Atsuko said quietly, taking care so that the Cardinal couldn't hear her. "And we'd be idiots to assume he's simply telling the truth about everything. I think it would be better to raise our guard everywhere, rather than just in and around Gotham. He could easily be trying to divert us from a real target, after all." Maybe she was just being paranoid, but... well, better safe than sorry.
Jaster Kite |
Aw, you don't trust me? The Cardinal said. That hurts me a lot, you know. He smiled. Anyways, I can tell you for a fact that it's not just here and Gotham. It's Metropolis, the rest of New York, LA, Detroit, Metropolis, Hub city, Star city. They will all strike at once, and you so-called heroes will not be able to stop it.
Now what? Lindsay asked over the comms. Do we take him in or just... Prep him for the morgue?
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Called it.
In this case, though, being proven right did basically nothing to make her feel any better. She rubbed her eyes a bit, pondering her options. Anything that involved snapping at the man wasn't who she wanted to be... and finally, she lowered her hand. Many of the so-called super-villains truly were insane, and that was something the world had to deal with. "I think we're about done here. There's still some cleanup to do." she said quietly.
Felix Cabricornious |
"Alright Cardinal, I think we're just about done. One last thing. It takes a lot of money and materials to put one of these things togetherand even more to make sure the recipient doesn't just dissolve into a puddle." Felix holds up the Fake Philosopher's stone.
"You're going to have to lapse back into death for a bit before I can start another process. But if you wanna be back before Christmas, I'm going to need a down payment on your end. Wait to long and you might start to smell a bit."
Bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 20
Holy s$+%
Masumi |
Masumi has a sudden spark of remembrance, noticing that they havn't asked one of the most important questions. How did the Cardinal just die, and by who's hand? Lacking the ability to commune this idea currently however, and being fooled by Felix's bluffing as well, she figures that this can all be established later when they've brought him back to alive permanently.
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Atsuko sighed slightly. Her powers were pretty darn weird, but Felix's rejuvenation stone... thing... was strange even by her standards. "All right, I'm on my way back." she said over the comm line. A moment later, she was gone, stepping away in directions she didn't even understand in order to return. It would be interesting to see how this ended up going... and hear what the Phantom had to say.
Jaster Kite |
Nothing in the room, in fact, it looks like he barely unpacked his bags. In those suitcases however, nothing but a few new changes of clothing, all with at least a hint of red, a semiautomatic, and at least ten thousand in unmarked bills.
Y'know, in another RPG, Felix, that would've gotten you a dark side point...
But here you get a pat on the back :)
The Cardinal slumps his shoulders. Let me use my phone and I will... Make a donation.[/ooc] He said, defeatedly, then reaches into his pocket awkwardly, still in Ravager's grip. There. He said. As much as I can spare. 500k.
And I'm going to assume you're going to make a hefty donation to the police department? Lindsay asked.
Everyone ready for the transition, or is there more unfinished business?
The Darkstorm |
Darkstorm hands the bills in the briefcase to Lindsay. That cover it? he asks. He then raises an eyebrow. You know, being a super hero is a full time job, we should at least get minimum wage. But, I may have been hanging out in college to much. This appears to be a ton of cash, take it for the police.
Im ready to go, but this will be something he brings up every now and then.
Felix Cabricornious |
"Alright Cardinal, see you on the other side."
I'm assuming he transfers it my personal bank with a phone call or something? Also, I haven't decided entirely how Felix plans to disperse the funds. Gonna wait until we know more of the situation from the Phantom.
After the Cardinal expires, Felix will contact Lindsay.
"You realize its hard to talk without the Cardinal hearing me right? Didn't wanna chance he had some another deadman switch or something. Anyway, we'll go over the details later at base."
Jaster Kite |
Back at the police station, Lindsay leads you into the base proper.
You did a good job, team. She said. As much as I hate to admite it, you did. You really did. You stopped the threat, you prevented another calamaty from happening, and you even unearthed a conspiracy. I'm going to hate to have to tell the Phantom that he was right about you guys.
Inside the base, the music, oddly, was an instrumental, almost meditative. A sitar is definitely in the mix.
The Phantom sits at his end of the table, the White Wraith and the Blue Banshee both on either side. Media was also seated.
He was hunched over, leaning heavily on the table.
Hello, team. He said, his voice, while always whispery, was a bit more thin than usual. Forgive me if I don't stand up.
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Atsuko glanced down at her hand. He was... hurt, probably? She was pretty sure the Manuscript had something that could help with that, but she was worried about using it on her allies. It wasn't exactly a safe tome. On the other hand, most... gifted... people had access to some excellent medical technology, if only through their connections.
On the other hand, it might also be rude to simply withhold what she could do. In that case... "Can I do anything to help you?"
Jaster Kite |
Aside from the bullet wound that pierced his abdomen last week, his left arm appears to be trembling more than his right, and his breathing is uneven. His costume does a good job at hiding whatever it is, but you can tell that something has been plaguing him for a while by now.
Nope. Nothing. The Phantom said. My team here has been doing good for me, keeping the streets clean, forcing me to drink herbal tea. He nods. You've done good. He said. How do you all think that went?
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Atsuko frowned. "...I didn't like what the Cardinal said about weapon shipments. With people like that... it's hard to tell how much of what they're saying is truth, you know? He was implying they wanted to pull the trigger and escalate things in a big way, and that could be..." Well, it started at "bad" and got rapidly worse from there. There was a reason most heroes avoided killing people, and her public image was a major concern for her. She desperately cared about her image, and only wanted to be associated with inspiring things. That mattered.
Masumi |
She bites her lip, and looks away from the man in order to hide the pity she felt. In the time she's known him, it was obvious that he wasn't a man who would wish for it. It seems obvious to her now, why he contacted them, brought them toguether as a team. He's a century old man, in a way, it should've been obvious from the start. "You're not getting better, are you?" She muttered, her own nervousness making her fall back into Japanese.
Jaster Kite |
The Phantom tilts his head to Felix. We're obviously not paying you enough, if you're going to mug criminals like that. He said, a hint of amusement in his voice. I'm glad to hear you have a plan for the cash, though.
World-changing. The Phantom finished for Atsuko. And not in the good way. He continued. They got Two-Face in on it... They're giving him what he hasn't already gotten his hands on... It could be big. If it's anything like the bombing. He shook his head. We need more information of course. We can fight this. This war starts and ends with us, and if we're lucky... No one out there will ever realize that it was even going on.
He paused when he heard Masumi speak to him, then nodded very slightly.
No. He said, very softly, very matter-of-factedly. Not a fight I should win, I am afraid.
You notice Media's confused look at him, it didn't look like she understood, and the Blue Banshee, giving out a very quick, but very noticeable frown at him.
Louder, he stated. You are free for the weekend, yes? He asked. I have booked us all flights to Gotham. Coach. He continued. I'll... Meet you there... Out of costume. He said.
The Darkstorm |
Dale Fisher walked up to class after a long night of catching up on his studying. Exhuasted from fighting, and studying he fell asleep in class. After class he goes to the local mall with his friend Alexa. Despite not having to fight, he is tense, as if expecting danger to be around any corner. If there is a fight, she has to be safe. Damn the Cardinal and his warning.
He see's a movie he knows Alexa always wanted to see, and points to it. So, I know you wanted to check out to movie, my treat? He asked.
Ohh... Sorry, I saw it on a date while you were busy this weekend. We got out of the movie while the Darkstorm, and this New Mascarade began to battle in the Hotel. She said, her eyes widening upon mentioning Darkstorm.
Damn my alter ego.
Masumi |
The next schoolday...
"No no no... It's getting worse..."
Masumi fretted over the scar on her arm as she was getting ready for school, something was definitely off with it. But there wasn't anything that could be done, she might've been studying to become a doctor but she's never read about something like this. And she can't exactly go to anyone about it either...
She finally noticed the time. "S~&@! I'm gonna be late!"
In a rush, the young girl finished getting ready, hastily bandaging her arm in the process before tossing her bookbag over her shoulder and running out the door. She doubled back less then a minute later to lock it, cursing for the lost time. Her mother had already left a few hours ago to start her shift at the hospital, so getting to school on time was all on Masumi. Something she was currently failing spectacularly
The high school was a good thirty minute walk, and she had to get there by eight. It was currently ten til. So she ran.
Jaster Kite |
The Darkstorm? Says a girl behind the two. Turning, she's a petite girl with red-dyed hair and thick-rimmed glasses. Pretty, but disheveled. Sorry for interrupting. She said. Just... Hi, I recognize you two from Mr. Roman's class. I'm Elaine. Elain Kyles She smile awkwardly. Pretty cool, aren't they? She asked. I hear people talk that the Darkstorm is pretty young. He could also be in our class, for all we know.
On the way, she spots her crush, Hadrian, walking in between two others, Eddie Downing, a tall, dark-skinned kid with bad posture and a name signed into the chess club, and Lisa Wendig, the blond that seemed to always be with Hadrian, but never really stated if their coupling was 'official' or not.
What do you think happened to the Phantom? Hadrian asked. It looks like he's being replaced by these new Masquarade jokers.
Hey, I like them. Eddie said. They're pretty cool. They've got this new... I don't know. They've got this new feel to them.
Whatever. Said Lisa. It's certainly an interesting set of freaks. Just look at that monster they call the Ravager. That's usually the kind of creature Capes fight.
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Her feelings at the moment were... mixed, to say the least. Not that she'd ever expected this to be easy, exactly - it was often the case that there were no easy answers, and given her focus on a relentlessly positive image, that was something she had to consider. Unfortunately, she couldn't simply be such a person, no matter how much she wanted to.
On the other hand, she wasn't going to sit around moping, either. That didn't help anyone, and with a sigh, she heated up a bowl of soup before carefully consuming it. Food was basically a luxury for her at this point, but eating made her feel almost human again.
Come on, Atsuko, you just have to put on your Big Girl skirt and deal with things. It's not like you have to handle this alone - there are tons of other heroes in the world, and you can't stop believing in a better future.
With that, feeling the fatigue of the day, she wormed into her futon and dropped to sleep. Rest was important, even if her dreams trended towards the weird - she wasn't sure that anyone was counting on her, but she hadn't given up on the team just yet, and she was going to give them her best.
Masumi |
Her heart sped up from seeing Hadrian's soft brown curls and hearing his soothing tenor, while her legs started to slow down. It wouldn't do to draw too much attention to herself in this state, and if he saw her running then it could make him think all kinds of things! Like, maybe he'd think she was really athletic instead of girly and feminine? Or if he thought she was going to get all sweaty and gross? She couldn't let that happen!
Reality eventually kicked in and she soon became aware of what they were talking, and she felt herself slow even further. Did he really think that about them? They weren't jokers, they- they were heros! They weren't freaks. ...They weren't freaks.
Felix, Darkstorm, Apocalypse, even Atsuko. They all looked human, Though she shuddered at the memory of Atsuko's healing), all of at least seemed normal. All of them except for her. Raveger. She was a freak. A monster that looked like it should be fought, a monster that had gotten fought at first. Lisa might be right about her, but the other four, they weren't freaks. She had to remind them of that.
"H-haha, yeah, the masquerade huh? They're pretty cool right? T-totally heroic. And stuff. Uh, I mean, except for that one guy, right Lisa?" She said, a little louder then she intended. 'Terrible! Natural one on that diplomacy check Masumi!'
Felix Cabricornious |
The heavy snores of Felix Cabricornious were one of the many reasons why back at home he, and he alone, lived in the south wing. No ill intent or anything, but it was better for everyone involved if someone didn't snap and smother him in his sleep.
On the coffee table next to him was a briefcase full of personal files, injury reports, casualties, and all manner of damages relating to the Cardinal's last bombing. In a separate stack, was a detailed information tracking report of the large amount of money that was now in his possession. After all, the Cardinal has said this was all he could spare, which meant that there was more somewhere down the line.
He would need to divy up the money between victims, police, future bribes, and charitable donations, maybe buy himself a burger and shake with the leftover change. But this mouse chase for the rest of the cash should help keep him busy until the flight.
Not sure what I want to happen, but here's this.
The Darkstorm |
Dale looks at the new girl and chuckles to himself. Yeah and I'm the Darkstorm he says jokingly. Although you are right, about people saying he is young. Didn't he work around campus before joining the Mascarade? I wonder who he could be. I'm Dale Fisher by the way.
Alexa looks at Dale strangely. You the Darkstorm? In your dreams bud. I've seen him, twice now. The first time he picked up a guy around twice your sive, and flew off with him, can you do that? Hey Elaine, I'm Alexa. This joker here really is Dale, but he is definately not the Darkstorm.
For once I am thankful she doesn't realize that Darkstorm is me. This may infact be the only time. Dale thought to himself.
So Elaine, I haven't really seen you in classes. He said, suspicious of her. After all, Cardinal had warned that danger was everywhere. What are you going to major in, and why are you so interested in the Mascarade. They are just another group of heroes. Besides Batman, Stark, and Superman are all far more established.
Jaster Kite |
Atsuko hears the phone buzz. Lindsay's name flashes on the ID.
Hey, Atsuko? She asked. Just calling to check up on the trip. Your parents are okay with you taking a trip to the crime capital of the US, right? She asked. We've been forging class-trip documents for the younger members of the team should you need them.
She paused. Also, you see the news? You guys are all over it. Really making a hit. You've become these sort of indie superhero icons, or at least that's what Media's calling it.
The three pause to stare at her, Hadrian and Lisa giving a brief, awkward look at her, while Eddie smiled, cringing inwardly.
Oh, hey. Said Hadrian, scratching the back of his head. Masami-
Masumi. Lisa corrected him quietly.
Masumi. Hadrian quickly corrected himself. Yeah, they're... They're an interesting lot. They try any harder they might make the X-Men look normal.
Hey, I like the X-Men. Eddie said defensively.
You like all superheroes, Eddie, dear. Lisa said, turning to Masumi. If you can call that... Thing, a guy. What do they call it? The Ravager? They should put it on the raft with the other freaks like it.
Hey, now. Hadrian said. They musta just needed a Hulk and got the closest thing to it.
Stop dissing the Hulk, man. Said Eddie.
Before you see what happens, Felix hears the squeek of a chair being pulled up, and someone sitting up beside him.
Felix. Said a heavy, familiar New York accent, the smell of residual cigarette-smoke wafting towards him. Y'remember me? Jackie Kyles. I interviewed ya and yer friends, and took some pictures. The man asked. Didn't think I'd be seeing you 'round here. He smiled. Ta think, after the spread I put on you guys you'd all be getting flocked for autographs, now. He leaned forward. Now, far be it on me to impose, but an exclusive interview onna guy like you, well, that'd just make my boss's day.
Elaine smiles. But if he could do that. She said coyly. Would he show you? She said, then smiled, shaking her head. The Banshee, the Wraith, now Darkstorm and Atsuko. The Phantasy just loves that teen sidekick schtick. Then again, the first Phantom was one, himself. Any one of them could be in those halls, ya think about it. Eden's big, but not that big. Thrill, huh?
What can I say? I root for the home team. She said. I major Cultural studies, and for the two of you that take those classes in the whole school, you might have seen me in Russian lit and criminal psychology. She said. Funny thing how few colleges 'cept for here and Gotham have that last one.
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Felix Cabricornious |
Felix doesn't catch all of what was said, but the sound of the chair moving does flip on his alert switch in his head. Damn family and their "night attack" traditions. The last time he got sloppy he had to replace his favorite sheets which were full of spears.
Felix frowns and looks about.
"You got access to here? The media? No offense, but most of what I hear from the media-to-super relations aren't the friendliest of things."
He also begins nonchalantly putting away his research, luckily his computer had auto slept and was locked. He had not anticipated a member of the media having credentials to get down to the base, but if he did, that meant he was probably trustworthy.
Still, couldn't be too careful.
"Any reason you want an exclusive with me? I mean, and no offense meant in return on your skills to judge, but Darkstorm might be a better candidate. Or maybe The Doc, a guy like him would guarantee you a good day of sales."
Masumi |
"Pff, yeah, that one's super weird, haha... I guess they have to have her, like she's some kinda... she-hulk." She comments. The hulk wasnpretty famous, or infamous really. You fanneven hear about him in Japan. Masumi however remains ignorant of the fact that there is a she-hulk, and she looks way hotter then she could personally hope to achieve.
Jaster Kite |
Editted due to being ninja'd :)
You're all young to me. Lindsay said. Not that I'm that old, mind you, it's just that... She sighed. Oh, well. You're good fighters, all of you. It doesn't matter about your ages. The Phantom constantly proves that right with the manner of alliances he keeps.
Not now. She said. We're trying to keep the Eden daily news out of it, but they're being... Stubborn. You're still new. You gave your premier interview, we don't want to make you guys seem like a bunch of Kardashians in tights... Tighter tights. You need an air of mystery about you. Then you can start shedding some light on yourselves.
Media. Naw. Jackie said. Me, I'm like a taller, more dashing Jimmy Olsen to this city's capes. So long as I don't dish any dirt, which I don't, I'm free to pop in. He sighed. I'm a friend of Lindsay's, too. Was a war photographer, and she was a soldier.
He shook his head. Doesn't mean that capes ever have to answer. I'm usually... Directed outside when I get too nosy. Tell me when I do.
He smiled. Now in the meantime, what's the state of the Cardinal? Is the Phantom still alive? If you had to date one of your teammates, which one would it be?
Like... She-Hulk? Eddie asked.
Now she's hot. Said Hadrien.
Wait, you think it's a she? How can you tell? Lisa asked. It's not like it has any... Female attributes... Like some people. She said with a quick, bitter glance at Masumi.
Eddie frowned at that comment, but Hadrian didn't seem to notice it.
Anyways. Eddie said. You can't deny that they're doing good. They're not even dropping bodies like the Phantom sometimes does. Heck, Ravager's pretty cool, in a Lovecraftian sorta way.
Masumi |
She can't help but glance down at herself at that stray common, and notice the... difference, between her and Lisa. Somehow this conversation was getting double personal, how is that even possible? Masumi also mentally punches herself, 'You never told rhat reporter you were female, how would we have learned that then!? Just ignore it, and maybe they'll forget...'
"Oh, uh, yeah. It really is pretty freaky isn't it? But if you think that's lovecrafrian, have you heard any of the stuff about that other girl?" She dirrects at Eddie, hoping for a change of subject. "Oh, wait, what time was it... " She mutters, before pulling out her flipphone, with several cutesy charms hanging off, to check the time.
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Felix Cabricornious |
Felix blinks.
Well this was moving fast, but he could sympathize with his precarious situation and even had a soft spot for those who'd had to fight/ or work during the wars.
It'd be nice if they thought we had the Cardinal as a tool, but that would involve revealing one of my artifacts....
"Well, let's just say that the Cardinal shouldn't be too much of a problem, though in a world with clones and parallel worlds who can say? As for the Phantom, I'm going no comment with that. His business is his business, and I'd rather respect that. As for a date....hmm Atsuko is pretty cute. Wouldn't be a "had to" situation either, I think it'd be great to see what she could do at carnival games."
Not sure if Atsuko has released her actual name for superhero-ing or is doing a dual identity. Think she's gone public, but if not then he describes her as the psychic girl instead, but doesn't give personal details.

Of course I wouldn't if that were the case, Dale replied honestly. Isn't the point of a secret identity to protect your friends?
Its for protecting your loved ones, do you forget what happened to Iron Man? Alexa laughed.
We'll in that case, I would tell you. See if it won't attract some baddies to fight Dale replied sticking out his tongue.
I'm sure you would. Don't mind him Elaine. Anyhow, I gotta go. Im supposed to meet my new man in an hour and I got to be ready. Have a great time in Gotham this weekend Dale. Alexa said, giving Elaine a slip of paper. Sorry for having to leave Elaine. Here is my number
Alexa walked away from the group.
So Elaine. Why does the name Kyles sound so familiar? Dale asked.
Jaster Kite |
I heard that she's got a weird power set. Never heard anything specific on it, other than... Tentacles. Eddie said. Hard to pin down.
Lisa whistles at the phone. Haven't seen one of those in near a decade. She said.
Looks like we got a little hipster, here. Hadrian said with a teasing smile at her, his eyes aimed right at hers.
Well, while I'm calling, I need to get a fix on... Well... The team. She said. Oddly enough, you strike me as the most... Normal one there. What do you think about everyone? The Masquerade? I'm just looking for an inside opinion.
Interesting. Jackie said at the first comment. Just vague enough to get my interests.
His business? So if he's still in any position to have business of his own, he'd still be alive, then, right? He asked with an arcing eyebrow.
Alright, alright. Jackie said. We've got some romance in the New Masquerade going on, here. Hot stuff. This'll make front page of Hero Beat... After the EDaily gets a hold of it.
He strokes at his stubble. Alright, one last question. Where do you see this Masquerade going? Ever going to get some costumes?
Iron Man's a special case, I guess. Like the Fantastic Four. There's something very, I dunno, celebrity about them.
Seeya. Elaine said with a salute.
Do you read the Eden Daily News? My dad's a photojournalist, there. He's worked a few places. Metropolis, Central City, the works. Has a good working relationship with a few of the more sociable capes.
She snapped her fingers. You know... Your face looks familiar? You ever get caught in a photograph by him?
Masumi |
"I've uh... had it for awhile, yeah." Really, she could probably get a new one if she asked her mother, but... this was a birthday gift from her father back when she turned thirteen. She didn't want to just get rid of it, especially when she didn't exactly need something else.
"What! It's that late?! Ah- We have like four minutes to get to school! Er, uh, I'll see you in class later... Bye!" She rushes out, seeing just how long she's spent dawdling here. Honestly, how was she ever gonna get to school on time at this rate-
Wait... the gate's right over there. How did she get to the school so fast? She could only reach speeds like that as... as Ravager. What was happening to her?
Atsuko, the Conduit |
Felix Cabricornious |
"Romance? Nah, just showing a lady a good time on the town. Way to early to call it anything like that. Trying to ruin the team dynamic?"
It's meant as a friendly jab, one not too serious but also elaborative.
"The Masquerade? I dunno to be honest. We respond to trouble and work to prevent it and, if we're good, we save some people on the way. But I'm not too big into costumes. Maybe I can just get a patch or something...."

Me? Dale says, trying to hide his nervousness. I just have one of those faces. Maybe he caught my brother or sister in a photograph. I'm just a nobody. As for the news, well I mean I don't like to because there is nothing I can do about it. I'll read the big stuff, but when there are people like the Phantom, Darkstorm, and Well, all the other capes, why should I worry that much. Reading Hero So and So saved town x from villains yet again can be boring. Though, I do wonder about Darkstorm's intentions a bit. The fact he was just beating up guys at our school before joining the team doesn't scream hero to me. Sure they were jerks but at the same time he could have hurt any of us.
Please don't make me roll to lie :P
Jaster Kite |
Off in the distance, Masumi hears a far off whistle at her impressive speed, and something about the Track Team.
She hears the school bell ring just as she hits the door.
She just made it. Barely.
I'm well aware of the hazards of being a superhero in the age of social media. Lindsay said. Look at people like Stark. Hell, even boyscouts like Superman and Rogers gets flack the internet. The Phantom himself hates social media. Then again, he's old enough to be all of yours great-grandfather. He hates damn near everything.
There was a notable pause.
I could ask him, he might not like it, but I can ask the Phantom to set up a press conference in the Hall of Justice. It'll give you a goodly amount of positive publicity in both the civilian and the super community. Might even manage to get a picture with an Avenger or a Leaguer.
Other than that, you guys could always hang out at the base together longer. The Phantom really splurged on dorritos and dip to furnish this place up.
Jackie laughed. Well, of course I am. Jackie said. I'm the media after all. Turning one against the other gets readers. Haven't you ever seen reality TV... Or the Avengers sit in the same room for more than a minute?
So that's it, huh? No kissing babies or shaking hands? Jackie asked. Or just not yet?
He stepped up. Thanks for the exclusive, bud. He said. Meant a ton. And he left.
You're talking awful fast, pretty-boy. Elaine said. Almost like you're nervous about something. She gave him a smile and a pat on the shoulder. Shouldn't have to worry about anything, should you? She pat him on the back. I'll see ya around. She walked away. Real soon.

And thus began another school day for Masumi, complete with just about everything she's come to expect... and something a little different. She's made an impression on those three for better or worse, at least for a little while. Eddie in particular actually spends a few more minutes to chat with her at lunch, a complete shock to the girl who maybe get's glanced out at best.
It might not be a friendship right now, but perhaps... it could grow to become one. Only time will tell.
Masumi never attends the Track Team tryouts that week.
End of roleplay
Dr. Apocalypse |
For a few days, the Doctor wasn't seen. He had ordered a few strange components and was busy working in his room. When he does emerge, Atsuko will happen to catch a glimpse of the device in his room. There's a round field of flickering energy and in the center there is a strange sight. A dusty grey wasteland with a dark sky.
He emerges with a smile, "Good day."
