The feeling of malice coming from what Alex believed were the creatures intentions, he stopped his approach to the telescope, and even took a step back, gripping his bow as if to suspect an attack.

The tools in this room are superb - Hunclay spared no expense in his toys - first a flesh golem manual, while these telescopes and manuals would cost no less than 5000 gold measures." She twirls her curly hair thoughtfully. "That could buy a fancy dress for certain."
She considers the flying creature. "Another devil or demon - not quite sure? Why doesn't it speak? I suppose I can take a look at whatever it is that waits through the telescope - wish me luck!" The half elf sits herself down on the apparatus and peers through.

Iulia climbs up into the wood and brass chair. The differenet levers and peddles make it very uncomfortable. How one is able to sit in it and gaze into the stars is a wonder.
Suddenly, electric shocks flow through the brass fixtures in attempt to fry Iulia!

Alex was distracted by the creature before him that by the time it clicked in his head what Iulia was doing, he had too little time to react. "Iulia, no. wait!" by the time the words left his lips, she had already sat and the trouble the creature set for them triggered. Alex's cautious tune switched to a lethal one. moving in the direction of Iulia to offer healing, he notched an arrow and let it fly towards the creature. "I will try, but first things first. I will need some cover if possible." as he stopped next to Iulia

Iulia, I don't think you reset your HPs. Everybody was to start at full upon entering the manor. Therefore I think you are just orginal receipe instead of extra cripsy =v)
Iulia body thudding to the ground is quickly followed by the twang of Alex's bow. The elf's arrow lands in the fleshy belly of the hovering creature.

"Aw dammit all to hell!" Calli exclaims as Iulia slumps over unconscious in the chair, the nasty trap having done its' work well. She quickly pulls out her crossbow and takes aim at the ugly little thing before firing off a shot.

"YEOUCH!" Calli yelps as she feels the sting of the creature's wand, though she was thankfully able to dive out of the way of the worst of it. "Ah don't think Ah can take much more of that! We gotta kill this thing quick or get the hell outta here!" she cries.

Haruf deftly dodges the shot from the creature, avoiding its danger completely. It almost seems like the poison wasn't acting on him, from the quickness of his movement. However, aware of his weakened state, he doesn't try to throw his dagger at it. Instead, he looks around trying to find something to snatch the flying thing.

Calli calls her comrades to arms. Iulia lays motionless on the floor as Sweet-tooth acts as her ward. Haruf tries to find something to swatch down the flying beastie, but his face is too swollen to see straight.
Lodo whips around the top of the observatory and fires a lightning bolt at Kale.

Haruf scrambles up the telescope, deftly avoiding the electric chair. He then leaps off (the top rope), and cross body's the helion. Both of them, intertwined, spiral toward wooden flooring below. With a crash, the Spider & Lodo have landed.
Everybody but Haruf can go. Lodo is now within melee range. -18 hps

Haruf hold Lodo down for Kale. With a clean shot, Kale brains the wee beastie. It flaps a few times more, then dies as arcane ichor pours from its skull

Haruf gets up and, before recollecting his weapons, goes to check if Kale was too injured by the creature. Seeing she's the same strong and fit woman, he grins with his confidence regained.
Someone oughta take this, he says pointing at the wand. It's clear he doesn't want to touch it himself, afraid of its electrocuting powers.

"Spider - that was the best dang thing Ah've seen in ages," Calli says solemnly as she slaps him on the back. "Ah could learn me a thing or two from watching ya!"
"Do we gots anymore healin' or will we need ta head back for real this time?" she asks, kneeling down to look at Iulia with concerned look.

Alex ignores the group only briefly, puzzled by the fact that there wasn't enough healing behind the spell. Frustrated, he props Iulia up gently and decides it better to become a conduit of energy as he pauses a bit to provide healing to all that were injured. "this had better do the trick, irastil. No one will remain fallen if I can help it."

After Alex heals the burns of the party, they make their way out of Hunclay's manor. Haruf is quickly put to bed so that he can fight off the remainder of the poison left in his system.

It will take 5 days of complete bed rest for Haruf to recover all of his Strength. During that time, the party may heal completely as well. Otherwise, the party is free to further explore the town, wander alone in the woods or make purchases. Anything magical needs to be rolled to see if its available. Just let me know when the party is ready to return to the manor.

Thankful that they've got plenty of time to finish their exploration of Hunclay's Manor, Calli spends some time over the next few days continuing to wander about the town and pick up local rumors and gossip.
Seems like we'll be here awhile so may as well learn more about the place.

Though she's not as adept at sniffing out rumors as she'd thought, she still enjoys her meanderings about the town. On a lark one day, she even decides to pay the Belhaim Cheesemakers a visit and see what they have in stock.
I wonder if they have brie? It's been forever since I've had a good piece of brie!

Anders quickly finds that he has a new admirer, after his latest round of healing. Everywhere that he goes, there is a smiling Iulia offering him a hand-made jacket or an embroidered kerchief. "Anders, I am eternally grateful for your... um, piety during that fight. I saw the light, but you pulled me back. Maybe you can... tell me about your god some time."

Kale spent her time close to Haruf. Taking care of her lover as his strength began to return. Though after a couple of days she did take the chance to ask a question he had avoided. "Love, do you remember when we returned that girl to her family and I ask if you had ever thought about having kids. You never really gave me an answer but... You did mention a difficult life... Do you want to talk about?"

Belhaim Cheeses is on the main road of Belhaim. It is a busy shop with nearly a dozen workers. A pround, barrel chested man greets Calli as she enters the establishment.
"Welcome girl to my shop. I am Dendo. I make best cheese in the land. You want cheese? We have many types, all the best."
Calli, I didn't know if you actually wanted to RP this out a bit or just being whimsical. In either case, no new rumors. I definitely want to see how the lovers interlude plays out. =v)

"Howdy Dendo, name's Calli," the monk replies, offering her hand for a shake. "An' yeah, Ah've had a real bad hankerin' for some brie...mebbe some real sharp cheddar too, the kind what knocks people on their keisters when they get a whiff of it on your breath," she grins as she looks around with interest.

"Brie? Yes, we have brie. Once knew dwarf girl name Brie. No talk much, very strong, good worker. Brie is the best.
"Cheddar. We have sharp cheddar. Cut your tongue, less it be silver. If you want stink cheese, try Green cheese. Good, stinky, but only for strong bellies. If belly weak, you be making a stink."

At first Alex was caught off guard and puzzled by the sudden admiration from iulia, but it didn't take long for things to click into place. Or so he had assumed. Only one way to find out, he thought as he kindly grinned.
"Iulia, though I may be a cleric, it is not solely through what piety I have with Erastil that I give his healing. However, We have time If you..... Wish to know about him and those that follow him"
The look on his face was one more curious as if questioning if that's all she sought. Alex always preferred a more direct approach.

"Perfect!" Callie grins. "Ah'll take some of each, even the stinky stuff - always gotta be open ta new experiences an' all. Mebbe uh...half a wheel each on the cheddar an' the green, an' a little pie slice of brie since it don't keep as long."
Once her purchases are complete, Calli leaves with a huge smile on her face.
Man, the gang's gonna love this stuff!

While recovering, Haruf decides to tell Kale about his life in the city, growing up mostly alone and afraid to rely on others. His tale includes some names of what seems to have been friends, who died while trying to survive, usually by the cruelty of more fortunate born people. His contempt towards the world had some pause a few times, when he befriended one or another person, only to see that person suffer afterwards.
One could never tell if his survival is due to luck or ability to stay ahead of trouble, but it is clear that sadness has accompanied Haruf for the most part of his life. The narrative quickly turns smoother and peaceful after he met Kale, with many events afterwards reminding him of another sadder time, only this time, he had little worries. The fact that she is much stronger than him seems to make him relax and the unity of the thousand year old group plus Alex seems to be just the stability he always craved.

Kale laid down next to Haruf, placing her head on his chest. Listening to his words as much as his heart beat. She knew she could never take the pain of the past away, but she could do her best to ensure he didn't have a painful future.
She looked up at him and gentle ran her calloused hand down his cheek. "Maybe... when all this is done, we should think about... I don't know, settling down?" She asked with a slight smile. "Maybe even settling here. I could work for the city guard, that'd be easy after everything we've been though. Then, if we feel up to it, we could have a house full of little green children." She said with a slight laugh at the end. She figured settling down would give him more stability in the fact he always knew where his home was, and that she'd be there. "Maybe we could even buy Hunclay's place... that'd be big enough for the whole group I'm sure. If they wanted to stay that is... I don't know... I'm just thinking out loud now." She told him.

Deeply touched by Kale's speech, he looks blankly at the ceiling.
That sounds like a dream, he says, relaxing and giving himself up to her care.
At the mention of living in Hunclay's manor, he gives her an incredulous look, but says What room d'ya want for us?, not wanting to let her down.

Speaking of rooms...
As Haruf's strength returns, the time has come to pass to explore the remainder of Hunclay's manor.
On the second floor there are doors to the east and to the west that have not yet be investigated. There is also a spiral staircase that descends into a sub-level.
Everybody is at full health and spells.

"It was just a thought love. I doubt we'll get Hunclay's manor. I was just thinking out loud. Honestly we may not want it after we're done checking it out." She told him as she leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Get some rest love." She said.
When they return to Hunclay's manor Kale is on her guard a bit more then normal. "Well, to the east or to the west?" She asked the group.

Haruf detects no other traps in the library. He does note that the door to the east is locked.
Opening the door, the party finds Hunclay's bedroom. The bedchamber is richly appointed, with three armoires and three tall wardrobes, a canopied bed with a large locked chest at its foot. Filling out the rest of the room is a writing desk & chair, elaborate marble tub and a thick bearskin rug.
Stepping into the room, a deep growl comes from the direction of the bearskin rug. When nothing else occurs, those that knew Hunclay would chalk this up to the old wizard's sense of humor.

"Uh...heh, that was kinda funny," Calli says after a tense moment of nothing happening. "Aw come back Spider, I bet it was just somethin' ol Hunclay rigged up to scare people!" she calls after the retreating rogue. "Besides, we ain't had a proper look around yet!"

Embarrassed to have been fooled, Haruf pretends to check one of the books in the library.
I needed to see this first, he says, completely oblivious of what book he took. After Calli's cool stance, he walks back in the room, triumphantly.

As Calli investigates the room, another growl comes from the bearskin rug. However, now there is a fiendish grizzly bear standing on top of the rug! It rears up on two legs and releases a roar as it swipes at the party.

Even Calli yelps with surprise as an actual grizzly materializes on the rug in front of them. "Dammit Hunclay, this ain't funny no more!" she exclaims, wide-eyed. "Guess we'll find out how well we can tangle with a bear!"

Seeing the bear, Haruf looks for an opportunity to attack and as Kale jumps into the fray, he moves in with her to a flanking position.
