Hey amigos,
So. I've been traveling and working my butt off in real life, but that doesn't excuse my radio silence. And I have to admit I've been reluctant about posting here - and that's been bothering me. I started off burning with enthusiasm to run this thing, but more and more it's feeling a little joyless.
But... I think I've finally figured it out. I think you guys are far too strong a group for the dungeon. The excitement I felt in throwing its challenges at you has shriveled up as I've realized you guys are going to steamroll your way through it all. We're all well aware of the traps issue, but even the monsters are vastly underpowered compared to the group. In this current encounter I was about to run, I actually swapped out the CR 13 or whatever villain for a CR 17 monster in the hopes of slowing you guys down - and I have my doubts that I would.
So I don't know what to do. I don't blame you guys for making awesome characters, but think rather that the old dungeon doesn't hold up to the potential awesomeness of Pathfinder PC's. I also don't want to rebuild the dungeon so as to challenge you guys... so.
Either way. Not a good place to be. I'm of a mind to thank you all for your creativity and willingness to crush The Mud Sorcerer's Tomb, and simply say that you do exactly that.

Hmm...Well if your not "feeling it" there's no point in continuing, this is a game after all.
If you choose to run it again, perhaps do it with lower level characters 9th maybe?
Either way I had fun and I made a character I enjoy, I see great things for Sargon in the future...

Dang wish I owned this one to step in as DM and finish it off for everyone.
The balancing act between character builds and the module material can be difficult.
Dragox |
Well, I was a bit worried we went too hard to the optimization side. I don't have any other characters naturally this level, but I doubt they'd be as tough as Dragox is.

That's true and usually the case when you get to build AND equip the near perfect high level character. You don't get the character build or equipment flaws that happen during the normal progression of a character.
The game was fun thanks GM for giving it a go.

If it's ok with the author, I'm fine picking it up and trying to finish the module. Since there's another trapfinder in the group the group shouldn't be too hindered. Plus, eliminating one of the character would balance out the encounters.
Reyondelee |
Totally understand. I appreciate the mature way you're handling this. Lesser DMs would have just thrown a few encounters at us that were way above APL just to be vindictive. Thanks for not doing that. If T'wich is going to pick up the DM mantle then we can continue on. If not, I totally understand. Happy gaming to all!!

Have at it, T'wich! I'll follow along to see how a more seasoned DM handles the situation. Thanks for saving the game!
You ran and excellent game.
I sent you a PM earlier today.

T'wich here. So, I'll continue the game if you all want to continue. I've updated the maps as I'll use map tools. I update maps frequently (several of the already know this since they are in other games with me), I'll try to do the module justice and kill you all off. I'm still reading the material, so give me a couple days.
I do not use delay/ready actions to switch/swap initiative orders, as that becomes problematic for me to track on the boards and it bogs the pace of the game down. I do permit you to hold your action especially if you are waiting some tactical action.
Sargon The War Sage |
I'll use this as your second round action.
Ah my fault, I thought the baddies had gone

The baddies have gone, you all just don't know what they have done. Although Omar does see swarms of snakes.
I'm waiting on Rey to check in and act and anyone else who wants to finish their round 1 action.
Note: you did not see anything invisible and Guathier's invisibility purge did not reveal any invisible creatures/items.

Thanks, because you reminded me that I need to let everyone know that I'll be out of communication from Thursday at about noon until next Wednesday morning. Please bot me as needed as well!
Thanks

Sorry, I did not realize all the snakes were dead, in that case I can drop the wall and hope it comes to us, we could wait out the fog or I could try and dissipate it.
Sargon The War Sage |
I was going to keep the wall up until we had to go that way. I will always keep the images up.
That is the best 6k I've ever spent
Sargon The War Sage |
Sargon: yes can you spellcast when in that condition but it will take a concentration check.
In his panicked state I figured Sargon would start disintegrating if the door wasn't opened soon
Sargon The War Sage |
Yeah, not exactly sure why that would be good.
It means there are less places for Tzolo to hide

I see your initiative is 14(16) when does the 16 apply? I'm creating an initiative template and want to know when it applies.
As he is a guide, while we are in underground or urban terrains, while around him you are granted +2 on initiative, stealth, perception and survival checks.
This is why I have brackets around certain skills
