Luke will take a minute to search the door for traps.

Taking 20 on Perception for a 27. If he doesn't see any, he will try to open the door. If it's locked, he will take the key from the corpse and try to open the door with it.

Male Human Magic User Level 1

Medraut approaches, and mumbles a few arcane words himself, taking each item that shows magic to his attuned senses in hand, one at a time - "Allow me to take a second look Luke"

Using the bit of luck for the cord

Spellcraft Cord: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Spellcraft Cord: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Spellcraft Vial 1: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Spellcraft Vial 2: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Holy smacks, 4 and 2...

"She's- was the shop owner. And she was sick, though I'm not sure of what. Perhaps what the others were afraid of..."

HP 22/22 || AC 9/9/9 || F+3/R+1/W+7

Adalieh climbs down to examine the corpse more thoroughly.

"I will take a look," she assures Corso. She conjures Dancing Lights and starts her analysis.

Take 10 on Heal check if possible, for a 23.

She looks over the corpse carefully, trying to gauge what ailed her in life, and if the symptoms are similar, if not the same as the crazed watchman yesterday.

Adalieh:
The symptoms match the ones of the crazed watchmen. Apparently the woman died of what the villagers are calling 'tallowthroat'. You cannot recall having seen, heard or read about anything like this.

Medraut:
Both vials contain potions of pass without trace, but the cord seems so plain and simple, if it weren't for its aura, you'd think it was mundane.

Lorzub's only brush with anatomy is slicing people open with his blade... so he shall wait until all the examining is done and move forward with the group when it is time. Just wanted you to know I'm still here, just not much for me to do at this point.

HP 22/22 || AC 9/9/9 || F+3/R+1/W+7

Frowning, Adalieh looks up. "Same symptoms as the guardsman from yesterday. I believe the villagers call it tallowthroat - but I have never heard of such a disease myself. It killed her, from what I can gather..."

She shakes her head quietly. "Why were the shadows here, though...?"

M Human Cleric 4

"The shadows may not have been here - until they burst forth from this misfortunate dame! I've never heard of the like, but I've got a hunch that this tallowthroat plague may be a sign of the body being corrupted by these shadows... but how can we know, for sure?"

With the question hanging in the air, Luke opens the door. A wave of heat rushes out of the room in front of you and the smell of hot fat is overpowering. In the front of the room is a drying rack on which candles are hung while they cool. Broken and mangled, it sits in a circle drawn in blood and fat. Farther back, a furnace emits a dim light, and behind it stand several enormous vats, each as tall as a human. One of the vats blocks the way to a large double door in the wall across the room. To your right, three doors lead to what are probably storerooms.

A strange, small winged creature with bright white eyes busily floats near the top of the vats. It yelps as it spots you and shouts in a high-pitched, nasal voice: "Whaaat are you doing here? Youuu are not supposed to be here!" Turning to a man and a woman, who seem to have done some legwork until now, it commands: "Oana, Fane, shooooow them the door!"

The couple walks towards you, both of them carrying a heavy tool for stirring the wax. They seem determined rather than aggressive while the creature puts on a smug smile.

This large room is approximately 60 ft. deep and 25 ft. wide. The creature floats near the ceiling on the opposite side of the room and is thus roughly 60 ft. away from you. Your move.

M Human Cleric 4

Luke says a charm and points at the man.

Spellcraft DC 16:
Luke is casting Charm Person on the man.

DC is 14

"Don't mind us, we're just going to take a look around. If you'd be so kind, would you tell us what you are doing here?"

GM Null:
If they do attack, Luke will attempt to deflect with Adoration, DC 15

The man slows down for a moment as if to ponder something, and replies: "Well yeah, if'n ye don't mind, you heard Ilquis. He just don't like disturbances, ye know? He's trying to help us. Find a cure, that is."

The demeanor of the man has slightly changed but he still closes in on you, albeit with an even less aggressive air. "Ye just leave now an' we all have a good ale in the Willow later, yesn?"

Corso looks at the group inside, not sure what to make of them. He follows Luke's lead though: "We will in a moment. We were just wondering what to do about the owner. She's dead. Ilquis, would you know whether she has relatives in Karpad? Also, my friends Luke and Adalieh have extensive knowledge of the medical arts. Perhaps they could be of help?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10

M Human Cleric 4

Luke takes a long look, trying to size up the inhabitants of the room.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

"That's very kind of Ilquis to help you find a cure. What exactly have you been doing to create this cure? We are working toward the same thing, we would be more than happy to help you if you tell us a bit about the process."

Lorzub stays hot on Lukes 6, watching the approaching couple while keeping an eye on that flying... thing.

Addressing the man that Corso is talking to, Lorzub puts on his most intimidating orc face. "It is best that you answer his questions and allow our people to help."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

"She's wha...?" the man produces. The woman stares wide-eyed at him and exclaims: "Catalina's dead? Fane, you promised we would stop the dying!"
The man called Fane turns around to face the flying creature: "Ilquis, what's that about the dyin' an' such. You said we'd stop it in time!"

With a buzzing sound the fey-like Ilquis hovers a little towards the center of the room and yells: "Well, we had to expect some minor setbacks! Now get on with it, I need to concentrate here. And I certainly don't need any help from these smelly imbeciles." He then addresses the group and adds threateningly: "The baron won't like it, if you keep disturbing me! He'll make you pay!"

Fane seems on the fence what to do for a moment but then seems to make up his mind. "You heard'im", he says to you. "Ilquis'll take care of it. He'll save us, don't ye worry. Just take care of Catalina on ye way out, please?"

M Human Cleric 4

"We'll do what we can to see that Catalina is taken care of, but considering we don't know the poor woman, it would be prudent if someone more familiar with her would help us." Luke touches his necklace briefly. "Fane, I insist that you come with us."

GM Null:
Luke is using Bit of Luck on himself. If Fane resists the order, here is the opposed Diplo check (rolled twice):

opposed Diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

gonna have to start calling it "Bit of Bad Luck"...

"No, you don't!" Ilquis snaps without turning around. "I need you two right here to get rid of disturbances such as this. Remember, the baron will have you flogged if you defy me!"

"M sorry", Fane sighs. "But him's right! Now please, you can take her to the temple. But leave!"

M Human Cleric 4

Luke says a quick charm.

Spellcraft DC 15:
Luke is casting Detect Magic.

GM Null:
Luke will use Detect Magic on the room and all three of its inhabitants. In case he sees any auras (besides the one enchantment aura on Fane), I'll pre-roll a few knowledge arcana checks.

Knowledge (arcana) 1: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Knowledge (arcana) 2: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Realizing that his intimidating presence is not enough to overcome whatever enchantment may be on these people, Lorzub simply stands ready next to Luke in case whatever he's trying goes wrong.

Luke:
You can see that Fane and Oana are both emanating magical auras, though you cannot discern exactly of what school they are. As you scan the room, however, you realize that the drying rack, sitting in the center of the room in a circle of blood and fat, looks like it could be used as a makeshift altar for ritual sacrifice!

M Human Cleric 4

"Fane, I insist you tell me whose blood that is around the drying rack, and what sort of ritual you were performing."

GM Null:
Accidentally was rolling Diplomacy earlier instead of Charisma. Here's the charisma check to give him an order:

opposed Charisma: 1d20 ⇒ 6

Corso keeps an eye on the weird beasty. His sword is still drawn and he looks for a line to be able to charge it if things go sour.

Fane blinks, obviously confused: "Whose... bla... Ah, that. To tell ye the truth, I never thought about it. Probably a sheep's blood. Or a goat's or somethin'."
Across the room, Ilquis turns around and shouts: "What is taking so long over there? Hurry, or I'll kick 'em out myself! They have no business here and will only slow us down!"

Once again, Fane sighs. "You heard 'im. Now please, friends, leave before he gets really upset." He opens his arms and walks towards you in a gesture to usher you out.

Male Human Magic User Level 1

Medraut stays silent during most of the exchange, but growing impatient he mumbles to himself - "This is a waste of time - these three are surely involved in the murders, mad as they may be..."

M Human Cleric 4

"Let me past, Fane, I must talk with Ilquis." Luke strides forward to get closer to the winged creature.

Seeing Luke starting to move forward he hurries to stay with him, not willing to let his friend walk into the middle of this by himself.

Before Luke can walk past Fane he sidesteps and the cleric has to break his stride to avoid running into him. He now stands toe to toe with the man as he says: "Come on, I told ye, it's alright! Ilquis 's here to help. Got the baron's permission 'n' everything. Sorry mate, but I can't let you pass!"

When Ilquis realizes Luke's noncompliance, he voices some arcane-sounding words and in the blink of an eye the room is suddenly filled with bright light as if you were standing on a plain on a cloudless midsummer day!

Spellcraft DC 18:

After your eyes adjust, you notice to your astonishment that Ilquis has disappeared from sight! But you hear his voice echoing through the large room: "I aaaasked you, I toooold you, noooow... I'll maaaake you!"

Still no map needed I think. Your opponent is invisible anyway...

M Human Cleric 4

"Don't harm Fane, he's a friend!"

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

So close...

Male Human Magic User Level 1

Mordred steps closer at the entrance to the room, as words of magic spill from his mouth, materializing into raw power, and manifested by a vivid cone of clashing colors that springs forth from his hand, enveloping as much of the adjacent room as possible.

Perception if it assists in locating the invisible one: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

"They are using spells to mimic the light of the Sun" - he comments - "It is quite unlikely that they would be in some way associated to undead but..."

Spellcraft DC16:

Medraut casts Color Spray into the room

M Human Cleric 4

Luke attempts to locate Ilquis after Medraut's spell but before he himself begins moving.

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22

Corso quickly moves a hand, as if splashing some water on his head, and he disappears.

Cast Vanish 1/4 rounds, then move near the cauldron.

HP 22/22 || AC 9/9/9 || F+3/R+1/W+7

Adalieh, already wordless after the rapid exchange which occurred, stays close to the back. She glances over at Fane - and narrows her eyes with debilitating intent.

Evil Eye Hex on Fane. -2 to Attack Rolls for 7 rounds unless he succeeds on a DC16 Will save; if he succeeds on the will save, the penalty only lasts 1 round.

"Do we have to fight?" she calls out, with a grim frown.

The cone spraying colors is beautiful to look at, but does not give you any hints on the location of the invisible creature. Luke squints and pricks his ears but he cannot sense the being either. When Corso disappears, Fane seems profoundly confused of the current situation. He takes a step back, looking from side to side, trying to get a grip.

A mumbled formula sounds through the room when suddenly Medraut hears the blood rushing in his ears and his hearing degrades quickly until he cannot hear anything anymore.

GM rolls:

Medraut Fortitude save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

So Medraut, I understood your post that you didn't want to target any creatures but tried to use the spell only to see if the invisible creature was anywhere in front of you. Luke, you can add a move action if you like. Corso, you mean the furnace at the back of the room, correct? You're roughly 30 ft. away from it now, after one move action.

M Human Cleric 4

Luke moves to stand inside the open doorway, greatsword drawn and readied as if to block any creatures from passing through.

If I can't harm Fane, and I'm assuming that means the girl to, and I can't see Ilquis, then I'm out of options.

Lorzub cries out "If it's a fight you want reveal yourself!" And with that Lorzub stands ready prepared to defend himself against the invisible foe. He figures it best to let the magic users fight for now and will be ready to strike when his enemy is revealed.
Lorzub will move next to Luke and then as his standard action take a defensive stance, adding +4 dodge bonus to my AC

Lorzub's challenge is answered with a snickering sound, coming from somewhere further down the room.
Adalieh shoots Fane an evil look and the poor man is visually frightened by her. His wife however is more resolved and tries to appear intimidating as she lifts the heavy tool and shouts: "Now get out of here! You're only making it worse! Why do you want to keep us from finding a cure?! Meddling foreigners!" Even though she takes a few steps towards you, she does not move in to attack yet.

Male Human Magic User Level 1

The actual idea was to have the spell affect the invisible one, but in any case:

Medraut takes a moment to get attuned to his condition - "I am deaf" - he says to the others, as he steps to the side so as not to be visible from the inside of the room.

Producing a tiny pouch and a small candle from one of his many pouches he begins an incantations that softly grows in tone.

Spellcraft DC17:

Medraut casts Summon Monster II

GM Null:

The intention is to summon a Small Earth Elemental

If it is up to me to roll the miss chance, here it goes - 20 or less the spell fails:

Deafness miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 92

M Human Cleric 4

Luke stands in the doorway, readying to attack should anything try to fly past.

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

GM Null:
In case Luke's readied attack does actually go off, here's the attack roll and miss chance.

attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 72d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 = 11

Invisible Corso:
Corso keeps moving towards the furnace, curious about what's in there. And takes a peek inside if he can.

Vanish 2/4. Let me know if you need some roll from me.

Fane, still ill at ease, moves between the doorway and the back of the room. "Please, don't ye make this any more difficult!"

Another, quicker chant mixes with Medraut's incantation and the giggling snicker that follows it can be heard drifting through the room. Luke however feels the bustle around him fall silent as he is suddenly deafened, too!

Corso:
The furnace is blazing but you can't make out, what is actually burning in there. To your left are the enormous vats, one of them set on a brazier in front of a pair of loading doors and emanating scolding heat. The other three rest on the ground and don't seem to contain anything as hot as the first one. The vats are as tall as a man and you can't spot what's inside without pulling yourself up to the rim.

This is frustrating...

Lorzub grew enraged at his inability to act. Seeing even those with magic unable to do anything either made him wonder if there was a better way, but with Corso invisible, Medraut unable to hear and seemingly preparing something he decided to wait and see. He will trust in those people, but if things don't change, like giving him something to swing at, he will make it a point to get everyone out of there. "Luke, make something happen here! My axe is going to rust soon!!". Total Defense... again.

M Human Cleric 4

Luke sees Lorzub's lip moving but nothing seems to come out.

"What?"

"What?"

As Luke realizes he can't hear his own voice, he shouts, "I can't hear!"

HP 22/22 || AC 9/9/9 || F+3/R+1/W+7

Adalieh turns her cursed gaze from Fane to the woman, filling her with the same despair and frustration.

Evil Eye on Oana, Will DC 16, -2 to attack rolls, same deal as before.

Oana puts on a doubtful expression as she catches Adalieh's gaze and seeks protection behind Fane's shoulders. "Yeah, listen to my husband! Leave already!"
She turns her head as a hulking, roughly humanoid creature of dirt and stone explodes up from the earthen floor behind her and her husband, faceless save for two glowing gemstone eyes.

Medraut, you didn't specify where you want the elemental to appear exactly so I figured probably deeper inside the room.

GM rolls:

The elemental seems to understand the command but aimlessly looks around, trying to pinpoint whatever it is supposed to attack.

Tremorsense only works when a creature touches the ground.

Fane sighs and shouts: "I told ye, mate, leave us in peace!" He then charges Luke, trying to push him out of the room.
AoO for Luke if you wish, I assume you forego it.
His feeble attempt however seems half-hearted and Luke stands his ground.

Out of nowhere, a pointy blade stings viciously into Lorzubs back. The wound feels unnaturally cold, sapping his strength.
