DAMMIT CHEWIE.
My work days arent as ambitious as Henrys, but they are similarly staggered throughout the weeks. Im on Pacific Time, if that matters for scheduling. Ill wait to hear back from the other fellas?
GM Netherfire |
Purchases look good, Henry. If and when a percolator is found (anyone who can pass a Diplomacy or Perception DC 12), it should come out to 5gp.
I was looking over Henry's profile, and I'm not sure if I ever said: using an armored kilt in conjunction with other armor raises the armor type to the next tier.
For example, a chain shirt and an armored kilt (both light armors separately) count as medium armor. The most notable difference there would be the reduction in move speed, from 30ft to 20ft. Similarly, a breastplate (medium armor) with an armored kilt (light) counts as heavy armor. The movement reduction is the same as medium armor, so there is not problem there.
Heavy armors tend to cover most, if not all, of the wearer's body, so adding an armored kilt to a heavy armor set would not grant a bonus to AC (its coverage would be redundant). Just something to be aware of, if it ever comes up.
I know Quick is a bit tied up right now with real life stuff, but how are Gorim and Gwath faring?
GM Netherfire |
One of my favorite fighter abilities is the mitigation of ACP and movement restriction. Not especially flashy, but it comes through when mobility is key. Plus, it can be funny to jog in full plate past non-fighter companions weighed down by a breastplate.

On an unrelated note, it seems our new party will consists of an (almost in over her head) young Elven Ranger, a Half-Elf Fighter whose story we don't yet know, a (been everywhere, done everything?) Gnome Bardic Cleric, and a (book smart?) Human Wizard scrivener.
Well, I'm excited. :)
GM Netherfire |
I'm really sorry to hear about that, Levi. My sympathies and condolences.
Don't feel bad about being out of touch. The last thing I want this game to be for anyone is a source of stress.
GM Netherfire |
Gorim? Henry? You guys are ok with me moving the story to the next destination? I might have time to post tomorrow. I'll move things along if I don't hear back by then.
GM Netherfire |
I moved Gwath and Quick to the back of the building on DG. Hope that was ok. I will wait for Gorim before getting too far ahead.

DungeonGrid updated. The cellar floor plan is how Halda last saw it.
Edit: I forgot to add to the description of Halda's drawing:
In the corner of the stairs, the elf haberdasher marks a square with the image of a keyhole. This is where her lockbox of valuables is stored.
GM Netherfire |
I was waiting for you guys. Are you guys waiting for me? I'm not sure what you want to do next. Do you wait for Halda to get back, or do you have things to get done before she comes back?
Quirel |
Yeah, as much as Henry may dislike doing it, we may have to split up. One group waits for Halda, the other goes in search of the man (Woman?) in charge of the town watch.
I suspect we're looking for a cynical, hard-drinking man in the company of a rather slimy kleptomaniac, a Troll who used to be a bouncer, and a six-foot-tall man who thinks he's a Dwarf.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Careful with the "nice hat" value hats... people told that tend to get sniped by "The Man They Call Jayyyyyyyyne" aka: "The Hero of Canton" after hearing such a compliment.
That's what I figured that the seven-layer weave helmet liner would look like, though Halda may be a better knitter than Mama Cobb.
Also, obligatory NIZE HAT!
GM Netherfire |
I'm waiting in case Gorim wants to do anything in addition to moving to the back of the store.
My next post after that will most likely have Initiative rolls :)
Quirel |
I couldn't really think of anything either. Probably should have drawn my Tanglefoot bags and readied a throw if someone with the Elf subtype came charging out of the store.
At a guess, I think that Sheog is going to try to run instead of turning this into a boss fight. Tripping her as part of a charge might work... which can't be a prepared action. Hmm.
When in doubt, just ready an attack against anything that comes in range. =P
GM Netherfire |
Simply waiting should be fine for now, Gwath. I started Initiative before any actual combat, which I know can be a little boring at first. But I needed to track, uh, preparations of your quarry so it doesn't become an impossible encounter.
I can post the next bit later today, under the assumption that Gwath waits. That ok?
Also, don't forget, Henry: you didn't get enough sleep the night before. You are still fatigued.
GM Netherfire |
I had some free time so I quickly audited your gear and wealth. Your largest amount of loot from one place was the dragon temple (and here Henry did a great job at splitting the currency gained).
On the previous Discussion page, Quick laid claim to the mithral dagger, but it isn't on his character sheet. Might want to edit it in so you don't forget you have it!
Henry gave Quick a potion of Mage Armor (3 hour duration), and gave Gwath a potion of Haste (lasts 5 rounds).
There are a few items that are unaccounted for:
1 cold iron longsword
1 collection of silver cutlery, tarnished (2 lbs of silver, unappraised)
1 ivory dragon figurine w/ amethyst eyes (appraised @100gp)
1 scroll of Animate Rope
1 scroll of Cure Light Wounds (1d8 + 1)
1 scroll of Bless
1 potion of Feather Fall
1 potion of True Strike
If your character posted in Gameplay that he has any of the above items, please update your character sheet inventory.
Now that you guys are in a town that could buy these things from you, I thought they were worth bringing up. Jewelry, art, and raw materials (like 2 lbs. of silver) can be sold at full market value rather than half like most equipment. And don't forget: you can also sell potions and scrolls that you don't think you'll use.
Protip: masterwork weapons cost at least 300gp, and masterwork armors cost at least 150gp. If you find high-quality gear that you don't think you'll use, selling it for half is still something to consider. Selling any unused equipment, like weapons and armor you started the game with (but have since upgraded), will also add a bit to your coffers.
Just trying to get your character wealth up to date! Let me know if you have any questions.
Quirel |
I'm quite certain that Gwath claimed the cold iron longsword, and Quick ended up with the scrolls, the potions, and the cutlery.
I'm not certain, but willing to bet hard cash that Gorim ended up with the statue.

I knew that list was somewhere. Thanks for linking it. I would hate for you guys to miss a chance to do some selling and buying before hitting the road again.

Hey Gwath and Gorim, just a heads up: tomorrow I will post npc actions of your characters.
If you are losing interest in this game, that doesn't bother me. I can always find someone else who wants to play. Long stretches between posting actually bugs me more :/ Let me know what you want to do.

Wow, sorry, this just skipped by my brain for a while somehow. Been swamped lately and haven't been using my home desktop with the Silver Scale link at the top.
Definitely want to finish this battle, but I'll start considering if I should stay in the game. Convention season's in full swing and it will probably make me disappear more soon. :(
