Cool! Hadn't realized that was the 3000th. Mists is not too far behind and Seer's is kicking butt though. But that's to be expected I suppose as Mariansu lost out and Seer's gained several weeks of posting by us. All in all though, very impressive number consider the time these threads have been up!

WOOOOOOO 3000!

@DRA: Apparently another small revision popped up from SGG on the Dragonrider class, nothing huge just that Silver dragons don't get INCINERATE anymore. lol I burn people to ash WITH MY ICE BREATH!! YARR!

They replaced it with Cloudwalking ability and apparently its always active, an at will thing for Lin. Kinda Neat when you think about it. Fly to the upper cloud layer and just run along the top. :) And sheis updated to reflect the change.

Congrats Damian in your big break in your case! Keep kicking ass my friend, we need a dozen more like you and stay safe!

Thanks. I'm still looking for the last two suspects, but I'm looking forward to closing it. It's been a long time coming. I'm meeting with a few TV channels today or tomorrow to put them on the air.

Okay guys, my other IRL group played tonight and Mina and Nurianna agreed to step in for this encounter, so when they post, keep in mind these aren't DMPCs but the actual PCs themselves running their characters. Enjoy yet ANOTHER IRL/PBP crossover and play nice, y'all. :-)

oh bugger! o.O; And I thought I was nervous last time! Now he brings RL people in. DRA is a devious mastermind!

In layman's terms:

I may or may not be in trouble. 0.0;;;;;;

Heh. I just like doing things like this, I think it's cool to connect all these completely rad gamers across the continent (and sometimes globe!) in one cool scenario. :-)

Not sure if this was mentioned elsewhere, but the person who plays Princess Ellethwin IRL is the same person playing Azami Ito over in Mists Of War.

@Belsarious: I don't wanna railroad you here, but you have a couple obvious options for things to do while you await the others; you can continue researching what happened in the Scrap City or what's going on with Crazy Lenny, or you can follow up on the magic item Dantoor gave Lin, or follow up on the archivist you retrieved for Van-Haera...there's lots to do.

Oooohh Ahhhh my precious

ring of arcane mastery :

PRICE: 20,000 gP
AURA: strong abjuration and evocation CL 11th
Weight —

This ring is a thin but sturdy piece of forged steel crafted to resemble a serpent swallowing its tail, and is magically imbued to reveal the secrets of arcane mastery to its wearer. The ring allows a wearer with an arcane pool to store up to 4 points from his arcane pool in the ring as a swift action. These points remain in the ring until used. A wearer can spend arcane pool points stored in the ring as if they were his own, or can spend them in each of the following ways.

• As a free action, the wearer can expend 1 arcane pool point stored in the ring to gain a +2 bonus on Concentration checks for 1 round.
• As a standard action, the wearer can expend 1 arcane poolpoint stored in the ring to use the pool strike magus arcana (Ultimate Magic 12) using his own magus level to determine the effect.
• As an immediate action, the wearer can expend up to 4 arcane pool points stored in the ring to use the refection magus arcana (Ultimate Magic 12)

And hey! It's not Aylaeth's fault Mina comes from a culture which is so racist towards a member of the Skyknights! I bet Damian wouldn't like her attitude towards Min much either (That is if he'd been able to pay attention to anything but that provocative armor of hers! The Hussy! )

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

Whoa whoa whoa.....

Before we get hurdled into the righteousness train tracks, I'd like to state that Mina was actually quite nice to Min, and it was MIN who was abasing himself TO her.

Deference to royalty is common practice by citizens, high and low, in every culture, not just by the outcasts. Mina's words were welcoming Min to behave normally. It's not MINA's fault that Min did not (which was very in character, for which I applaud him). I can understand, though, if somehow her words might have gone misunderstood.

Yes. Tuathans are racist, much like many races in such worlds. Considering Aylaeth got her hackles up despite having made none of the checks and in the face of the welcoming language Mina used, they were bound to not get along - no matter how much Mina would jump up and down and clap in excitement at meeting a Telestari scholar.

Besides, Mina wasn't the one who brought an Orc (hated natural enemy of Tuathans) to the party. So. Just saying. ;-)

You're all welcome to hate Mina. I'm not bothered as long as it is IC.

And I do not get the armor joke, so...I suppose I'll skip right past that. :)

That being said, I'm writing up the response now. Please note that the opinions of the character are not representative of the opinions of the player and that any and all resemblance to non fictional beings living or dead is coincidental.

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

And I have NO idea how Azami and Mina would get along. I think Azami would have general deference for someone of higher status, just because that's how it is, but general annoyance by Mina's typically light-hearted attitude and willingness to play the political game.

Mina probably would rolls her eyes at Azami's stoic nature, tell her to relax more, and facepalm every time she said something horridly socially awkward.

I want one of those rings...

Oh, and Minathiel... talk to your husband lately?

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

Uh, I am here ya know, not an Npc who can't speak for himself. :p

As much as Min appreciates someone coming to his defenses its not really needed. Thanks though Aylaeth. :)

Now all the big words are annoying the hell out of me and I guess he's abasing himself or whatever, but if we really look at the hierarchy of Tautha Mins status would be like so.

Royalty, High Born Nobles, Immortal blooded. - Mina

Everyother pureblood Tauthan - Min's mother

Puppies, kittens, game animals, dirt

Humans, Halfbloods, untouchables. - Min & his father.

It doesn't matter how nice Mina is to Min, or how much she encourages a more Friendly exchange, it just is what it is. She's up there and he's beneath her so far down the ladder that in the scheme of things she could ignore him entirely and he'd be nonplussed because its expected. Racism or not.

Just like a peasant talking about the weather with their feudal lord, no amount of pleasantries will entice the peasant into saying/doin anything more then what is expected. More then likely they dumbly reply and hope to god they could slip away at some point.

Even though he took the bond of the leylament it doesn't change his status, he is what he is and she is what she is.

He doesn't hate Mina or any other Tuathan for that matter, if they want to be short sighted and long lived arrogant asses then that's there choice. But Min will live by his morals and not by theirs. :) I just hope this doesn't come to blows and if it does it'll be interesting...

Don't get my text wrong I'm enjoying this very much as Mina is starting to get Mins hackles up slightly now but if he had passed a single SM check he'd have told Aylaeth to stay out of it as Mina has been addressing him this entire time.

Ultimate Equipment why had I not purchased you before now.

sPellstrike gloves :

prIce 8,000 gp
Aura strong (no school)
Cl 17th
WeIght —

These black leather gloves are lined with soft black velveteen and have silver buckles that run from the wrist to the elbow. Three times per day, the gloves allow the wearer to treat a ranged magus spell as a spell with a range of “touch,” allowing him to deliver the spell with his spellstrike ability. The glove can only affect spells that normally affect one or more creatures at a range greater than “touch” (such as slow), not rays or other created effects. The altered spell only affects the creature attacked (any other targets normally allowed by the spell are lost).

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

Waxing on Tuathan Culture:
I wanted to say something about the Tuathan racial thing against half breeds. I've always played it that Humans are above half breeds because they are whole. No, they are not as good as Elves (who is, really?) but a major with Tuathan culture is the sense of a person as a whole being, made up of culture and tradition and race and self-awareness. Coming into the full awareness of the whole self is idealized (the Brightness).

Many things play into this sense of Wholeness - the LeyLament physically connects the people of Tuatha to the Land, which keeps them generally interconnected as a people and in the same area. The Irisûr are almost a collective unconscious of clan knowledge as well as traditions that have existed for so long they unconsciously show up as urges in the blood (The Racial hatred of Orcs and demons being one of them). Even within the society, Elves generally are treated equally, honoring both the path of the carpenter as highly as that of the diplomat or artist. The royal line is the only exception to this. So Tuathans think themselves as pretty awesome because, well, they are basically navel-gazing over Millenia.

Being /Half/ (or not fully one race) means you belong in neither. You can never immerse yourself wholly in your racial and cultural heritage and possibility because you are not whole. You are Half. It is one of the reasons why Wizardry is accepted in Tuatha and Sorcery is not - because sorcery means that your blood has been tainted by the influence of another race, and you cannot be Whole. The separation is justified because a Half cannot even begin to understand what the Elven existence is about because a Half does not have the same urges, the same cultural awareness that is built into their being. You are Not Elven, but also, Not Anything Else.

You basically are the cultural equivalent of Limbo to the planes of Elven and Human. Who wants to spend any time there if they can help it?

These are just my thoughts of how I've played it. As ever, DRA is the arbiter and God of all that is, was and ever shall be in the Game.

This is what happens when I cannot sleep at 2am.

@Ayleath

Finished spoiler for my big post :p:

Despite his injured hand Min makes no move to stem the flow of blood or heal himself, instead bleeding as he defy's his betters. Whether this act is foolish or not is yet to be seen...

Since you joined the Skyknights you'd never seen Min shake and a few moments after his words he is shaking ever so slightly. Yet he doesn't ask for help, whether or not hes trying to keep you out of this is unclear. But he hasn't said a word to you, directly anyways, since the beginning of this strange encounter...

Its clear that he is losing control and it started the moment the Princess drew that black arrow and had him take it.

Best song to explain Min's state. And yes i'm a Linkin Park fan. Looking forward to today. :)

Lost in the Echo, modified...:

I followed, so taken
So conditioned I could never let go
Then sorrow, then sickness
Then the shock when you flip it on me
So hollow, so vicious
So afraid I couldn't let myself see
That I could never be held
Back up, no, I'll hold myself.
Check the rep, yep you know mine well
Forget the rest, let them know my hell
There and back, yet my soul ain't sell
Keep respect up, the best they fell
Let the the rest be the tale they tell.

Test my will, test my heart
Let me tell you how the odds gonna stack up
Y'all go hard, I go smart
How's it working out for y'all in the back, huh?
I've seen that frustration
Been crossed and lost and told no
And I've come back, unshaken
Let down I've lived and let go
So you can let it be known
I don't hold back, I hold my own
I can't be mapped, I can't be cloned
I can't sing flat, it aint my tone
I can't fall back, I came too far
Hold myself up and love my scars
Let the bells ring wherever they are

I don't back up, I don't back down
I don't fold up, and I don't bow
I don't roll over, don't know how
I don't care where the enemies are
Can't be stopped, all I know; go hard
Won't forget how I got this far.

Yowza! Lots to respond to! lol

Ok I'll try and get all this in order:

-First and foremost, I wish to make it abundantly clear that I Never emotionally mix IC and OOC interaction I never take anything a PC or NPC says in IC personally or as having anything to do with me. As I realize that of course it doesn't. Yes it has for sure happened, as is only realistic, that sometimes characters in a game have differences or even actively do not like each other. It would be ridiculous to believe or expect that every single character in every single game would hold hands and sing songs from the get go. A part of what I love so much about PbPs and the whole collective story telling process is how the majority of Players work so hard, and so well, to bring as much realism as possible to the characters that they play. Very, very rarely, in my 5 or so years of PbPing, I have had a difference of opinion or not been very fond of a Player. Usually based on something they have said OOC or a style or play or something of the like. Yet even in those instances I remember that this is only a game, and I cannot recall a single instance when such differences have not been worked out amicably in the end.

So I write all this to try and give the clear understanding that nothing that Ayelaeth, or any of my other PC's, says IC is in any way, shape, or form reflective of my personal feelings or opinions about my fellow Players, or anything else for that matter. I write and play my PC's as I best feel that they would honestly and accurately play themselves.

So with that said, I love how Irondawn, and every single other player in these amazing games of DRA's, plays their PC's. Azami is one of my favourite characters in DRA's world and Mina is completely realistic based on her race and culture. She just happens to have a very different outlook than Ayelaeth and so yes, it was almost inevitable that they would not get along, especially with the treatment/attitude towards Min and the whole issue of the orcling.

-OK, so Aylaeth's read on/reaction to Mina. While the magus did indeed fail her K (nobility) check, with this description "The elf is absolutely regal in bearing, and astonishingly beautiful, with platinum hair that shines like a star."[/b], and the fact the Min was [i]bowing before her, it did not seem like too much of a stretch to me that, with her 23 Int, she could figure out that Mina must be some kind of Elven royalty.

-Aylaeth got her hackles up quickly for several reasons. One, while she did not make the sense motive check, she only actually missed it by one point. So to me, it makes sense that while she may have not got a perfect read on Mina (been able to know exactly what was in the spoiler), she would have got a pretty good idea that Mina's feelings were not quite as sincere as her flowery words. In RL, you don't have to necessarily be able to exactly know/feel what is going on with someone to feel that they do not like a particular person or situation. Second, there is the way that Min has been acting around/towards the Princess from the get go, something that Aylaeth definitely does not like to see. And something which, in Ayaleath's eyes, Mina has not done anything to prevent. Quite the contrary, Mina seems to accept Min's behavior as perfectly normal (as well she should! For to her it is). Finally, there is Mina's open and unconcealed hostility towards the children in general and the orcling in particular. After seeing first hand all they had been through, and with feeling the guilt of the mean and cruel ruse she felt she had to play on them, she is very protective of them. While she may be able to understand on an intellectual level why the Tuathan feels as strongly as she does, on an emotional level Aylaeth is right along with Min in believing and feeling that these are innocent children and that they at least deserve the chance to find a different path in life.

-To make it abundantly clear, I, the Player, do not hate Mina or any character. That would be a bit ridiculous, considering all the PCs are fictional beings. However, yes, it's true, Aylaeth is not overly fond of the Princess at the moment ; )

-My apologies on the armor joke thing. It was silly and poorly worded and chosen as a (disastrously) failed attempt at levity and humour. I was trying to jokingly imply that some of Aylaeth's hostility towards Mina might be based on the rather plain magus being jealous of the Elf's great beauty. Re-reading it I clearly see how poorly that idea came across so again, please forgive and let's just ignore that little bit here on out. :-P

Not sure where Aylaeth got this from; I know I had it in my spoiler but she missed the check, so I'm wondering how this is justified mechanically?

For this I was assuming that the Tuathan's cultural bias' and feeling towards half-bloods was not any kind of secret and that with Aylaeth being a scholar and with her Int and mods in all the knowledge skills that while she might not be able to personally identify the Princess she would still have a much better idea than the normal person what Tuathan culture was like. If this was an incorrect assumption to make, again, my apologies.

-Irondawn thanks for your take on Tuathan Culture, well written and illuminating. I don't really have anything to comment on it as I realize that much of it was posted from Mina's point of view and I know I certainly have no chance of dissuading the Princess from thousands of years of racism and bigotry against half-breeds and orcs (well deserved in the latter case!). And of course to her, it is not, those things, it is just The Way It Is. : )

-Finally, for the record, I never had any problem with anything you wrote Min or the way you wrote it. I think you, and everyone, has been doing a fantastic job of RPing out this very emotionally intense scenario.

Have I mentioned before how much I love this game! ; )

Male Human Battle Herald 11

Damian would probably treat Mina politely, but would definitely be on Min and Aylaeth's side regarding the orc child. He would stand up for what is right, but likely in a more politic way.

Kyras would hate her though and try his best to get under her skin.

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

Oh! I suppose I didn't mean to say that's how other people should play or any of that is common information. Tuathans are pretty insular. Just randomly couldn't sleep and decided to write out what was in my head of the structure of Tuathan racism and how they justify it. basically, me babbling at 2am because I couldn't sleep.

Female Elf (Tuathan) Druid 1, Ranger 2, Sorceror 12

And I would have loved to see Damian deal with the situation. I was super interested to see how anyone would deal with this. This is a new situation for Mina too.

Had there not been an Orc child there, this whole scene would have gone totally differently. I personally think Kyras would like Mina more, but Damian would like her less. Someday, perhaps, there will be interaction without racial hatred in the way, or at least in their favor.

At this point I'm just killing time before family arrives. :) I will try to get a response post up late tonight.
