The combined result of your skill checks was under your spoiler.

To learn about auras you'll need to cast Detect Magic on the things that were under the tarp, and make Spellcraft checks for each of them. This will involve you turning away from the ghosts and walking up to the items so you can investigate them, as they're stacked against each other. Is that what you want to do? If so, don't sweat doing another IC post, I'll just post you walking up to them and go from there to save time.

Thought I'd already posted her using Detect Magic too, guess I left that out. But yup, leaving the dwarves to Damian for now, once Ada'an scans them for evil, she turns back to the tarps and, using Detect Magic, begins to investigate further.

And since she already made one spellcfrat check of 31+2, I assume she only needs two more?

Spellcraft 2: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (1) + 20 = 21+2
Spellcraft 3: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (5) + 20 = 25+2

%#%$@!! Ok, so in the last TWENTY ONE Rolls, for Aylaeth, she's only rolled over Ten THREE times, and one of those was an Eleven! Meanwhile, she's rolled a One FOUR TIMES!

Well, being from the University of the Scales in Lesotho, and having friends/acquaintances in other Universities, I'm sure it wouldn't be too tough for Aylaeth to come up with a high-level arcanist to ask about the paintings. I can make up a specific contact if you want an NPC face to mention in conversation.

As for countering them or whatever, let me ask you this; how would Aylaeth counter any other magic item? This is a puzzle for you guys, so it'd be kind of silly if I solved it for you, yeah?

As for the Haversack, each painting is 4'W x 3'H and weighs 40lbs in its frame, so I'll let you do the math since I don't know how much stuff you've already got in there.

What"s an 'air' burial?

And is it possible to get an updated map of all the areas discovered so far? Even a simple one? I'm starting to find it a bit challanging to map out in my head all the different passages and exits etc. that have been discovered so far.

At some point during her research, Aylaeth would also ask Min and/or the Warbanians if they could investigate, at least a little, the passage leading out of the magic machine room.

If its based of the Tibetan air burial. They chop up the body and leave it for the elements and predators. Since most of Tibet follows Buddhism the body is an empty vessel and the ground is to rocky for proper burials. Its ritual dissection...

That's already on the current map, for the most part. Right now all the doors/passages/whatever that you found just go right outside except for three:

1. the corridors that Min and Livain were exploring that have hundreds of empty rooms, one of which contains the paintings and the dwarf skeletons, where Aylaeth and Damian are now. (to get there, your PC would go out Y-18 and turn left. Turning right out of Y-18 just leads out.
2. the door on the opposite side of the "rune room" (the "rune room" is through Y-1, so this door is on the opposite side of that, going "north"). This is the only one not explicitly on the map as it stands.
3. the double-doors back behind the dais that have stairs leading up. (AV-8 and AV-9)

(here's the current map for referencing the squares above)

If y'all are intent on exploring, I'll flesh out the map more as you explore, just lemme know where you wanna go.

That would be door number 2 in my list above. The Warbanians will do the burial first since they're no longer on a rescue mission and aren't being paid to explore, or at least not yet. I'll let Min and Livain decide if they wanna embark on that. If those two go, then one or more of the mercs might join them.

So I was thinking is there any item or spell that would allow us to communicate with who ever is scouting? Even if its only between one of the scouts and one other who remained.

Correct on the distance. It might not have been 90 minutes but eh...

Min and Livain can tell you where they are, of course, they just can't enter that room themselves for 24 hours. Someone might want to get whatever they dropped, if anything.

I dropped my adamnatium blade and livain dropped her bow and one arrow I assume, we were armed when we entered. I was hoping she would exit out the door but now i've scarred her for life. xD

Min however is just sitting in the hallway by the red X, unmoving and still shaking away. :)

So many pretty items in the previews and that people have hinted at.
Anyone already have their PDF and no of any cool/interesting items that would work for Maiathreen or Livain?

I HATE having a low paying part time job....


So...what's next for the Skyknights? Beltz and Aylaeth can't keep chatting forever. Well. Maybe they can, but they won't. ;-) Mai and Aylaeth have already made all the rolls necessary to finish with the "rune room", so really it's your call where you go when that's done.

Any ideas? I remember a couple loose plans being kicked around but I don't remember if anything was agreed upon as official next steps.

Well my idea is use the wand and scrolls of teleport repeatedly. Both me and Aylaeth can take 3 other people along withbus per casting.... I was thinking of after the first casting we get a higher level wizard to take the children after casting sleep on them to teleport them to stormfare.

Min would continue to search the fortress and maybe scope out the civilization nearby if that was alright with the others.

If not he's going to follow Damian's lead. :) He'd rather know where the hell we are though! xD


Civilization is a day's travel one-way at least, possibly more given the dense jungle, so you might want to check in with the others IC before you do that.

Aylaeth would definitely want to at least fully explore this base or whatever it is. She'd definitely be curious about exploring the jungle city, but at the same time she knows they have people waiting back in Stormfare for them and even more, a very important mission to continue with, so after the base/fort, she vote heading back as per Mai's plan.

Ohh interesting feat for Lin.

Snatch:

This creature can grab other creatures with ease.

Prerequisite: Size Huge or larger.

Benefits: The creature can start a grapple when it hits with a claw or bite attack, as though it had the grab ability. If it grapples a creature three or more sizes smaller, it squeezes each round for automatic bite or claw damage with a successful grapple check. A snatched opponent held in the creature's mouth is not allowed a Reflex save against the creature's breath weapon, if it has one. The creature can drop a creature it has snatched as a free action or use a standard action to fling it aside. A flung creature travels 1d6 × 10 feet, and takes 1d6 points of damage per 10 feet traveled. If the creature flings a snatched opponent while flying, the opponent takes this amount or falling damage, whichever is greater.


I'm overlapping time a little bit to keep things moving, here.

The conversation with Beltz's ghost occurs in the midst of Mai and Aylaeth's work in the Rune Room.

By the time Min and Livain reach the core of the volcano (where they are now), the two magi will be close to being done, so if the scouts head right back, they will arrive in the Rune Room just as the magi are finishing, and you all can figure out what you want to do next based on the Rune Room findings and what Min and Livain just found.

So have at it! :-)

Like the fact that I'm bound to a powerful creature from the Plane of Shadow...coincidence....unbloody likely knowing DRA....

Destroying the Abominations doesn't seem to be possible by any means on this plane. The only lead you have is if you could get a powerful enough creature from the plane of Shadow, or Abaddon, they could render the Abominations inert by tossing them into a rend between planes, known as a chasmal rend.

Of course we don't know about this since this is Belsarious' information....which I hope he informs us of....when ever we see our wayward friend
