Flug Managarm |
Flug observes the corpse.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
"I-I can lift it for us to see, but c-cannot pull it closer."
Cеlif |
Celif nods. "Whoever it was deserves a proper burial too, though the ground's probably frozen too hard for that," she opines as she moves to help Imowen.
Story Master |
The dead body appears to be of the local farmer Old Man Dansby. His son indicated that he chased a couple of winter-touched creatures who were stealing crops from his fields into the forest. He apparently fell victim to the creatures he was chasing. Searching his body, you find his equipment is in good repair, and they include a composite longbow (+1 Str) with 12 arrows; a dagger; a masterwork handaxe; and a pouch containing 14 gp, 25 sp, and 18 cp.
Cеlif |
Celif sinks to her knees, then sits on her heels as she lowers her head and offers a brief prayer over the body.
Stealth (with backpack on): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Story Master |
1d20 ⇒ 17
The group makes noise while progressing up the trail, and inadvertently walks into an ambush! A hail of arrows comes streaking out of a copse of trees at you!
A - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
B - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
C - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
D - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
E - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Horrible dice!
The shafts all miss! You look ahead and see a group of warriors fitting more arrows to their short bows for another volley!
Warrior Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Roll for Initiative. The map has been updated.
Flug Managarm |
Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Flug tilts his head, observing the warriors.
Can Flug tell if the warriors are human?
Story Master |
Imowen takes careful aim at Warrior A, and even though the enemy is partially concealed behind a tree her aim is true! The crossbow bolt slams into the foe, causing 6 points of damage!
Group 2: The Warriors
The warriors launch another flight of arrows at the party:
A - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
B - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
C - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
D - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
E - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Warrior A returns Imowen's attack, striking her 1d6 ⇒ 2 for two points of damage!
Group 3: Nastrod, Flug, Celif
Cеlif |
Celif begins an invocation and raises her arms from her sides, palms up. Bringing them together over her head, she pushes her palms forward and spreads them. In the distance (near bandito E if she can see him; otherwise whichever is the farthest she can see) the air near one of the ambushers shimmers and coalesces into a translucent mace, which immediately strikes at the enemy.
Spiritual Weapon (Force Mace): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 (Strikes as spell so bypasses DR, etc.)
5 rounds remain
Flug Managarm |
Flug mutters something and the cloak of darkness surrounding him seems to deepen in some unfathomable way. He moves forward and addresses those attacking him. "Who are you?"
Cast Sanctuary (DC 16 will negates, 6 rounds) on myself and move to J-9.
Story Master |
Celif draws upon the divine power of her deity, and suddenly a mace appears next to Warrior E, and it successfully strikes the foe for 8 damage!
Flug casts a spell upon himself and moves toward the enemy...
Warrior: Who are we? Ha! Who are you! Be easier to find out once we loot your dead bodies...!
Story Master |
Imowen fires another bolt at Warrior A and it strikes true, killing him with the second shot!
Group 2: The Warriors
The warriors see Flug advancing, and they launch another flight of arrows, this time at him!
B - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
C - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
D - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
E - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Most of the shots go wild, but an arrow strikes Flug 1d6 ⇒ 5 for five points of damage!
Group 3: Nastrod, Flug, Celif
The map is updated.
Flug Managarm |
Did Sanctuary not work? I have it active so whoever tries to attack me has to succeed on a DC 16 will save first. Unless you rolled it in secret, which is fine.
Flug's expression doesn't change, simply approaching the one who shot the arrow that hit him.
Head to J-15 and nothing else for now.
Cеlif |
"Now that's not very nice!" Celif shouts back as she stands her ground and directs her spiritual weapon to attack again.
Spiritual Weapon (Force Mace): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 4 + 2 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
I can't see the map from here. Attack same bandito as before unless unable, in which case move to the next most distant.
4 rounds remain.

Story Master |
Nastrod advances towards Warrior C, and swings his weapon critical fail roll in a wide arc, loses his footing, and misses badly!
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
Rewind - forgot about the Sanctuary spell. The arrow hits you but bounces off causing no damage.
Flug continues to advance toward Warrior B...
If you go to square I-15 you can make an attack against Warrior B. Do you want to do that?
Celif's Spiritual Weapon continues to attack Warrior E, and the magic mace strikes the foe soundly for 7 more damage, killing him dead!
Group 1: Imowen...

Now that I closer to them, can you describe them more please?

Flug Managarm |
I'll do that, then, drawing my morningstar on the way. Sanctuary will be canceled upon my attack.
Morningstar: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19
Damage (B&P): 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Cеlif |
"Now throw down your weapons and stop this foolishness!" Celif shouts as one of the bandits hits the ground. "Don't make me ask Septimus to drop more of you!"
Hopefully E's not dead dead...
Story Master |
Now that I closer to them, can you describe them more please?
The warriors are all humans, and look like common bandits, wearing padded armor over cold weather gear. Each is equipped with a buckler, short sword, and shortbow.
Story Master |
Flug advances toward Warrior B and attacks with his morning star. He swings the weapon with accuracy, striking B in the head for maximum damage and crushing his skull, killing him instantly!
Imowen takes aim again and fires a bolt at Warrior C, and it flies true, striking the warrior for 7 damage!
Group 2: The Warriors
E IS dead dead...
Only Warriors C and D remain, and they both start to retreat to the west.
Warrior D: Retreat! We must warn the others...I'll cover you! He fires at arrow at Nastrod 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 but the shaft drifts wide of its target. Warrior D then moves 30 feet west...
Warrior C tries to disengage from Nastrod and he moves 60 feet to the west...
Nastrod: you get an attack of opportunity on C.
Flug Managarm |
Flug's turns his head to the fleeing warrior. His morningstar drips with blood.
If Bandit C survives Nastrod's AoO, Flug will cast [url=http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/h/hold-person]Hold Person[/i] (Will negates DC 17) on them.
Flug Managarm |
Flug moves to step towards the remaining bandit but then pauses. He cocks his head, as if listening to something, before he reaches his hand towards the warrior. His eyes start filling with black, the cloak of darkness around him deepening into the same shade. "You shall answer our questions."
Casting Hold Person (Will negates DC 17) on the remaining bandit instead.
Cеlif |
Celif would like to delay/ready an action. If Bandito D succumbs to Flug's will, then she'll just hold. If he manages to block that and tries to bolt, she'll move the Spiritual Weapon (MA) and attack (SA). I haven't been adding the Bless so far but if it's still going, feel free. :o)
Spiritual Weapon (Force Mace): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
3 rounds remain.

Warrior Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Flug points to the fleeing Warrior, and suddenly the man running through the snow becomes paralyzed, and he freezes in place...
He is about 60 feet away from you. You have 6 rounds to subdue him, or less, before the spell wears off or he becomes unheld through a Will save.
Nästród, Oracle of the Dasun |
Nästród will trudge over to him and take away his weapons. He speaks the command word and the fires of Örlög-Eldur, the flaming blade of destiny, go out. He puts it away in the scabbard.
"The spell will not last long," he says as he collects the bandit's armaments, "I'll tie him up, unless somebody else is better with knots."
Combat Maneuver Check: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
I'm not sure if Bless apples to CMB checks. I am using silk rope for this.
Flug Managarm |
Flug takes casual steps towards the warrior, his morningstar dripping blood into the snow on the way. He stop next to the man and stands in front of him. He looks into the eyes of the paralyzed man, holding the stare, his own eyes clouded with black.
Just a double move to stand next to the warrior with my weapon still out.
Nästród, Oracle of the Dasun |
"My friend here is possessed by a demonic spirit," Nästród says to the bandit. He turns his back to the highwayman to look at Flug. He gives Flug a quick wink. He turns back to the captive. "If you don't tell us what we want to know, I doubt foresee being able to restrain him. I won't be happy either."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Cеlif |
Celif approaches as well, moving to stand within the scoundrel's field of vision. She nods her head slowly, solemnly. She looks at Flug with an expression of concern. "It is true," she breathes to the frozen man. "I have seen... things. Horrible things." She closes her eyes and shudders.
All technically true. ;o)
