Gezzo Wrathforge |
I can throw some points in Engineering. It would work with Gezzo's Svarog tinkering family story. Probably dungeoneering and maybe Profession (Alchemy), as well. I picture him as more of a tenacious detective; an annoying Sherlock or Batman.

Thanks, though it helped that Story Master painted the clue on the broad side of a barn. :o)
And I'm grateful that Fener did the actual button-pushing. Celif might have figured it out, but her player would've never connected the tree with "earth" -- I was thinking flame and river, and maybe cloud for "air."

I demand reputation!
Hehe... I hate to break it to you Gezzo, but you've already earned a reputation with us. :oD
But keep working on it and maybe it'll improve. ;o)

It's tough being a three and half foot tall Svarog.

I think you all have this well in hand. :P Hope it doesn't annoy anyone too much that Flug isn't very involved.
He's more a watcher, but just tell him to do something and he'll participate.

Glad to see you back, Story Master! Hope you've gotten over your illness.
And I'm totally not flipping a coin every time to decide what I do, nope.

I'm in a homebrew that allows called shots. In a fight against a specific model of warforged known to have a design flaw in the knee joint (one direct hit and it's down and staying down), none of our entire group ever landed a single called shot. So I'm not sure how useful they are. :op (As in, by the time you can land them reliably you probably don't need them anymore.)

Storymaster, are there any "Campaigns" happening that would address Cayden's situation? Does the Brotherhood have any standing directives about what to do with a sorcerer? If they do, would the entire party be aware of what to do with a sorcerer (or at least what the Brotherhood has directed to do)?
Is there an alternative to the Brotherhood's directive? Are there any underground societies or resistance movements of any type that the party would know about?
Story Master |
Sorcerer's are of great concern, because they don't "learn" magic, it becomes an integral part of their physiology. The Brotherhood wishes to regulate the use of arcane magic as much as possible in order to protect the public safety and control its use (enchantment and necromancy can be very troublesome). Since sorcerer's become adept normally without the benefit of formal training, they are most likely to be cast as renegades unless brought under the tutelage of the Brotherhood.
Yes, there are alternatives to the Brotherhood, arcane casters who chafe at the restrictions imposed upon them. In particular, a confederation of outcasts loosely calling themselves The Tainted are a magnet for such unlawful nonconformists, and are the subject of the adventure Secrets of the Tainted which I wrote and is available on Paizo, RPGNow, etc.
Anyone who is tasked with maintaining the good order of the Brotherhood of Magus (such as Gezzo) would make it a priority to ensure that someone like Cayden, who is just now blossoming into power, is taken to the Brotherhood for proper training and monitoring. Since he is now parentless, such a decision might be for his best future. If left to his own devices in the marshland environment, who knows what the future might hold for him, good or bad?
As far as The Tainted is concerned, you would not encounter them unless you were tasked with hunting one or more of their cells down.

Ridiculously busy week, probably won't be able to level Celif up for a day or three yet.

Quite alright. A reward for the success of your mission is forthcoming from the Brotherhood, which may influence the equipment you might obtain for the next segment of the journey.

How much would the orb of divination cost?
Also, swapping one point of Diplomacy into Disguise. Have I rested enough to remove the remaining Strength Drain on me?
Cеlif |
Yes, Celif would find some weapon upgrades beneficial. Or there's that designer bag (Handy Haversack) she's had her eye on. ;oP
Also, you mentioned the weapon and orb, but what about the Pearl of Power? Celif's in possession of that by default; are we to turn that over as well?

Returning to Katurka offers opportunity for rest and full healing, so yes you and Gezzo will have recovered the STR drain.

oh and what is your thoughts on special materials? ie Darkleaf armor?
Heh, you're the only other person I've ever known to mention darkleaf cloth. Great stuff for a hide armor conversion.
Story Master |
StoryMaster, What are your thoughts on using the gold to purchase magic items?
Are there limitations etc?
The interesting thing about this party is that everyone has a divine connection to their spell power. In the world of Saemyyr, divine magic is seen as a boon, as it comes from faith in the gods, and only a special few are granted that ability. The common folk are good with that, and the Brotherhood is resigned to accepting this phenomenon. So, if you purchase magic items that are compatible with your faith and/or divine connection, no one can argue with you.
An arcane caster would have a different problem, would need to be a member of the Brotherhood, and subscribe to their tenets and restrictions in order to cast spells or possess items which can create such spells.
For this reason, there generally is going to be friction on occasion between the Brotherhood and the various religions, as the Brotherhood wants to control everything, and the religious wants them to butt out and not interfere with their faiths.
Story Master |
oh and what is your thoughts on special materials? ie Darkleaf armor?
Special materials are fine - they might end up having different names, or being derived from different materials on Saemyyr, but would cost and function the same. There are no dragons on the planet, so dragon-based armors are not available.
Story Master |
Also, you mentioned the weapon and orb, but what about the Pearl of Power? Celif's in possession of that by default; are we to turn that over as well?
The Brotherhood members did not seem concerned that a member of a holy faith would possess such an item (and other items, such as the Tabbard of Bless), so there is no demand that you relinquish them.
