Grafire looks at his fallen friend and yells at him words of tongue that inspire Seram at the core of his being. [Inspired Word - Minor - Close burst 5-allows Seram to use his healing surge + Healing Bonus for Seram (1d6=1) ] He then bellows a roar at C1 and swings his Axe of Terror in a Viper Strike.
Attack on C1 (1d20+13=16)
Seram Zal is now on 18 HP. He needs to take a move action to stand from prone. Or he could stay prone and attack at a penalty.
The dragonborn captain bellows at Seram to fight off the mental onslaught, and with these words, the barbarian blinks, shakes his head and shrugs off evil dreams.
Grafire looks at his fallen friend and yells at him words of tongue that inspire Seram at the core of his being. [Inspired Word - Minor - Close burst 5-allows Seram to use his healing surge + Healing Bonus for Seram (1d6=1)
Seperated my temp and regular hp. So another 18hp puts me at 40hp and 6 temp. I forget does standing provoke OAs? I so I think I'll stick to -2 to my attack rolls
Here we go. Minor action use Acrobatic boots to stand.
The barabarian stands quickly and looks at those around him. "Heh, this is fun but if I don;t start taking this fight seriously I might die"
He grins and looks at his blade, "I was saving for this later, but I guess I'll have to use it now..."
Thunder Hawk Rage; Until the rage ends, before you take any actions during each of your turns, you can knock an adjacent enemy prone as a free action. As my Free action knock FM3 Prone. Attack 1d20+14=31 vs AC against C1. Damage 4d4+8=19 thunder damage, and he's stunned (save ends). Action Point! Minor Action active my cloak of resistance gaining Resist 5 to all damage; Free action knock FM5 prone; Rage Strike on C1, if C1 is down use against c2 instead, 1d20+14=32 vs AC; Damage 8d4+8=27; expend bloodhunt.
OK, the important part is 'before you take any action on each of your turns'. You have already used an action to stand using the acrobat boots, so no knocking people prone this turn. I have resolved both the attacks against C1. And, standing does not provoke OAs.
C1 is now bloodied.
As Seram turns into a fury of motion and injury, Rowan steps forward and heals the crazed warrior.
Seram now on 40 HP and 6 temp HP.
The fish-men seem undaunted by Seram's rise, and keep attacking.
Manny's cloud inflicts 8 poison damage on FM5 (they have Poison resitance 5). FM3 hits Seram for for 9 damage (of which six is taken from temp HP and I included his resistance cloak in that) and 2 poison damage. FM5 misses and moves away, it is now 5 squares south and is out of the cloud.. OA from Seram. Seram hits FM5 for 15 damage.
Mandrake the Mad is ready, set, go! Remember Mr Manchurian, that the cloud lasts until the end of your turn, and can be moved by you using a move action or sustained beyond this turn by spending a minor action.
Most excellent. I believe the cloud is serving it's purpose right where it is, unless we are forced into it by an opponent's power. It is not only (trying) to damage all of our opponents each turn, but is blocking line of sight from the 'lead' baddies until we get rid of the cannon-fodder. I plan on leaving it this turn, and spending my minor action next turn (or this turn if needed) to keep it going. UNLESS someone tells me to drop it!
OK, Stinking CLoud rolls for this round, 3 hits and 1 dmg roll:
The wizard observes the beating that the barbarian takes with much wincing and making of sympathetic faces. When Seram pops back upright, the wizard applauds. Upon seeing the cultist take a beating but remain standing, he boos. When they once more begin to strike at the beleaguered barbarian, Manny decides he's seen enough.
"Hey! You! Stop that! You're ruining the show! Down in front!"
And he unleashes another blast from his staff at the Cultist next to Seram.
Magic missile attack on C1 I believe? The one NOT in the cloud, standing next to Seram and Grafire. I can't see the fish man because he is around the corner.
"Mandrake, it is true that your cloud is obscuring the vision of some of our foes. It is, however also obscuring ours. I cannot, for example, see anything well enough to aim at it. Would you consider moving it back a little?"
Manny - it'll be easier if I roll the hits for the cloud when each affected person comes up in the round. I'll take your first two attacks and apply them to C2, and C3 on their turn. C2 is hit on his turn for 14 poison damage. C3 is unaffected. Do you wish to drop the cloud or sustain it?
Mandrake pouts, but his voice is as shrill, er, I mean steady as ever.
"Certainly! All you had to do was ask! poutWarlocks always get all the fun,..."
With a gesture that is probably meant to be grand, but comes off as more of a child performing a magic trick. He waves his arms, and the cloud obediently begins drifting back and to the side a few feet.
"I didn't want our new friends back there to feel unloved. There you are! Happy hunting!"
OK, minor action action to sustain cloud, move action to move it back 1 square revealing our line of foes, and over towards the curtain 2 squares to try and hit the 2 back there. Do you just want me to roll 'normal' attacks and dmg, and let you you roll 'ongoing' effects (To hit/dmg) on creatures when their turn comes up?
Thanks Mandrake, yes if you roll attacks on your go, and I'll roll for attacks that take place on others' turns. Although the Cultist now doesn't take that poison damage.
Seram Zal is currently on 29 HP after all those attacks above. Cultist 1 attacks him and hits for 17 damage. Cultists 2 and 3 miss. Seram Zal is now on 12 HP. Sharallan makes a Dagon's Maw attack and misses with both!
The townsfolk continue to batter Seram Zal with their flails; the barbarian shrugs off the psychic attacks of Sharallan easily. The cool, considerate woman of earlier is now gone, replaced by the anger of a fanatic.
If Cultist 1 is in sight, Akahale plants a curse on him, followed up by an eldritch blast. Which I'm betting misses ...
Eldritch Blast on Cultist 1 (v Ref) if he's visible (1d20 11=15, 1d10 7=8). If Cultist one isn't in sight, curse, blast, miss on Cultist 2. If he can't get at any of them, he'll just swear in draconic and wait for better days.
Shift behind It to try and get line of sight on the curtain. If he can see the curtain, he'll use the blast to try and remove it.
Apologies for the multiple contingencies, it's early, I'm slow.
As It launches another dart from It's shoulderbow at Cultist 1, It says, "Dragonborn Grafire or Priest Rowan, please back up the stairs so that It can engage Wizard Mandrake's enemies."
As It launches another dart from It's shoulderbow at Cultist 1, It says, "Dragonborn Grafire or Priest Rowan, please back up the stairs so that It can engage Wizard Mandrake's enemies."
"Next chance I get we'll swap positions if Manny's okay with that of course?" Rowan replies.
"Nice bow attachment by the way," Rowan adds frowning as he wonders how many of these cultists and fishmen were waiting for them down here.
"OK? Why wouldn't it be ok? Of COURSE it's ok! Why do think I lug him around for? His sparkling personality? Well, he does make a dandy hatrack. If you think that tinkertoy on his shoulder is nice, let him up front and you'll see what he can REALLY do!" He grins.
Mandrake then turns, and squints at IT. Examining the shoulderbow as if seeing it and the glass globes for the first time.
"Where DID you get that anyway? What else have you got in there?!?"
Grafire shifts Seram 1 sqr SW and attacks C1. In his new position Seram feels invigorated with a healing surge + 7 additional HP. On the last healing surge from grafire Seram actual should have received a 2d6 so he gets an additional 1d6 since we are 8th level.Additional HP from Inspiring Word. Rolled only a 1d6 and it should have been a 2d6. (1d6=4) So total HP bonus for Seram is 11HP and 1 healing surge.
A mighty roar bellows from Grafire as he swings with might at the Cultist C1.

"Bahamut hear my words, I beseech you to shine your light upon these heathens and our just cause bestow upon us your divine light!" Rowan intones.
Employs divine fortune to aid Divine glow encounter power use so I rolled a 14+9+1 for 24 versus Reflex using an encounter power that has a close blast of 3 doing 1d8+5pts of radiant damage to all foes caught and grants any ally within that range a+2 power bonus to attack rolls, Rowan will then swap places with It as its currently unlikely Seram will be able to move forward until one of the cultists falls. By the way are there any other modifiers I should have included in that roll?
Rowan's body is briefly illuminated by light that suddenly stretches out and even passes through Manny's stinking cloud and back up the stairs engulfing everyone before fading back once more, Rowan's comrades find themselves feeling much more coordinated as if something has imbued their aim and skill in combat with greater efficiency whilst their foes seem somewhat upset by this turn of events...
Sorry, I mean what power are you using to shift him. You can't take more than one standard action in a turn, unless you spend an action point. Your Lion's Roar doesn't seem to include the ability to shift an ally.
Oops your right Dohh. I didn't use the Wolf Pack so he stays were hes at which reduces my to hit by -2. So that's a 25. He really needs the healing so I'll keep the Lions roar attack. Thank goodness your on it.
Not a prob. :D Seram is up to fight, and he did not shift. But I'm sure he is eager for seeing his enemies driven before him and hearing the lamentation of the women.
Free action knock FM3 prone. Pressing Strike on C1, before I attack shift 2 squares putting me diagonal from C1. Attack 1d20+14=30 vs AC; Damage 2d4+8+1d6=18; If the attack hits I also push C1 on square so I'll place him in my fromer square.
The barbarian moves with a blur of speed past the cultist.
Sorry, Seram, You can't push the cultist to your former square. Each square in a push must place the enemy further away from you.
Seram Zal leaps into action, kicking the fish-man to the floor, and dashing through the cultists before slashing at one of them!
Rowan, you have to roll to hit for each target separately. I will keep your roll and use it for C1. I don't know of any other modifiers to your roll, other than the fish-man's aura of stench for -2 which you didn't factor in. Vs Reflex on C2, C3, and FM3 (1d20+10=21, 1d20+10=16, 1d20+10=14)With the aura, you subtract 2 from those. I am afraid you affected no-one bar C1.
[ooc]You only roll for damage once. This is then used for any target hit. radiant damage to C1 (1d8+5=6)
The cultist reels in agony as Rowan's light hits him.
FM5 takes 7 poison damage from the cloud. FM3 stands up (move action) and shifts to the square W (move action). FM5 moves to the square SW of Seram and attacks. It hits for 10 damage and 2 poison damage on Seram.
The fish-men get their act together and co-ordinate their movements with uncanny teamwork to set Seram up for a flank.
"Oh, bother. Now that's just about enough of THAT!" Mandrake declares with a frown.
His eyes seem to be clear and focused, unlike the usual scattered look of insanity he normally wears. With a word he conjures a globe of shimmering force in one hand. He leaves it hanging in the air and raises his staff. With a swift, practiced motion he strikes the globe with the tip of his staff, sending it flying down the stairs towards the fish faced creature. When the globe reached its target it shattered, spraying the fish man and the robed cultists with shards of mystic force which somehow managed to miss Seram.
Smiling, the mage begins conducting an unheard orchestra, and the cloud drifts past Seram, but closer to the stairs where it envelops the majority of people at the bottom of the stairs.
OK, first Force Orb, (vs Ref) Primary attack on F3, with secondary attacks on all adjacent enemies, C1, C2 & C3, a standard action.
Minor action to sustain stinking cloud, move action to move it OVER 1 square E, and UP 2 squares N. That should cover every villain to the E of Seram.
"IT, would you be so kind as to remove that person? He is beginning to annoy me!" Mandrake declares, pointing at the Cultist at the end of the stairs with an imperious finger.
There! Now maybe we can deal with the people outside of the cloud, then finish off the rest. ;)
Mother Sharallan snarls and comes out from behind the curtain. She coughs and splutters but otherwise seems unharmed by the cloud. It costs 1 square of movement to move through it and it can only be moved through on the north and south edge.
Grafire feels his mind under assault from fearful images but he fights them off. Sharallan snarls again as her psychic attack fails.
No, sorry. You can't charge or bull rush either, I checked.
Right. Back up the stairs to the first room then and see if he can find another way down.
Touching It on the shoulder, Akahale murmurs quietly "I shall seek alternative entrances. I shall do this discreetly." So saying, he sidles (discreetly) back up the stairs and looks at the other set of steps on the western wall of the room they first entered. i.e. the one's It tried to block during our first fight.
Grafire, those squares can be occupied, they are a series of bookcases.
The pudgy blond man emerges from the curtain and glares at Grafire, the dragonborn feels dark tendrils of psychic energy reach for him, but his sheer guts deters them.
The mage stares intensely at the scene of carnage at the bottom of the stairs. HE seems to be chewing on his lip by the way is beard is standing straight out. Seeing the large dragonborn tensing as if to spring, Manny puts out a hand.
"Grafire, wait a moment. Let me clear the way for you,..."
see discussion thread for my tactical suggestions. IF you want to delay until after Manny, he should be able to take at least some of the heat off of your movement.
