Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
This is the discussion thread for the Knights of Luruar pbp campaign. Welcome all and let's make this fun. Also, if there are questions or dicussion on how certain rules work, let's keep them in this thread.
Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to respond, last nite was a bit crazy.
Anyways,
I should have my Elf up soon. The reason I was asking about using pathfinder races as opposed to 3.5 is that the Elf's +2 Dex/Int really fits my character perfectly. I've decided to go Agile then Intelligent, if we make it to 9th level.

Well, with the high powered stats as a baseline and the ability to be a moon elf (+2 dex, -2 con) or a sun elf (+2 int, -2 con) I think it works out.
Hey Gray,
Sorry I haven't had a chance to post up an actual character yet. I was away from my books all weekend, and got back home rather late tonight. I will hopefully be able to post up something tomorrow, but I'm not sure.
One of my best friends is going through a really tough time right now and she might come hang out with me tomorrow night. Not really sure.

Do what you gotta do Monkeygod. We'll be here for a while. May have to bring you in as someone other than a legionare if it takes too long.
Skills have been Pathfinderized, but classes have not. What about class skill lists? Several have been expanded, including the Fighter.
Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
Skill lists remain the same. If a class had spot, listen or search, then it has perception. If a class had either hide or move silently, then it has stealth.

I've been waiting on posting due to the holidays. I'll start moving it along tomorrow if no one posts.
I think that's fair. I would make a duplicate post in the recruitment thread, letting everybody there know that say the 3rd is final cutoff for all submissions.
As I said, I am almost done myself, and can probably finish tonight.
Holding off until after New Year is fine with me as well. Happy holidays to everyone!

Alright. No posts till monday. enjoy the holliday!

Ariael:
I checked over your character sheet and had a couple observations:
(1) The bonus background feat should be selected from the region feats. The Silverymoon region has the following benefits:
automatic languages: common, elven, Illuskan
bonus languages: chondathan, dwarven, giant, orc, sylvan
regoinal feats: Education(knowledge is always class skill and gain +2 bonus with two knowledge skills), Mind over Body(use Int or Chr to determine hp at 1st level, gain +1 hp for each metamagic feat known, and gain +1 insight bonus to AC if cast arcane spells), Strong Soul (+1 to Fort and Will saves and against death effects, energy drain, and ability drain the bonus increases to +3).
bonus equipment (pick one): (1) mwk longsword, (2) mwk rapier, or (3) breastplate armor and 20 mwk arrows.
(2) base armor class with no armor would be 13 not 14.
(3) fortitude save should be +3
(4) hp should be 24 (9 grace and 15 health)
Should be good, beyond equipment, which wont be much at this level.
History will be forthcoming, been a long crazy few weeks.

Ariael:
you have one too many feats. everything else looks good. finalize the equipment and the background.

Marching order is a cross pattern with Anasth on the right, Alder in the rear, and the front and left are unassigned.
I was waiting on Jaxal as well but I haven't heard a peep from him in a while.
Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
fyi. I keep a list of marching order, weapons ready and watches.
How does everyone feel about me rolling perception checks and other checks to help speed up play?
Would it be possible for Cal to not begin in the militia, but instead be something of a company quartermaster, a civilian contractor providing supplies for them and working with them on the logistics side of the operation (at least at first).
My concept for him was more of a merchant than a soldier. The Brass (and the other PCs) might not know right off the bat that he's as competent as he is, or as willing to be in the middle of things.
I was thinking I could enter by rolling up with a supply wagon since I'm late to the party anyway. What do you think?
Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
Sure Jaxon. I'll introduce you with a Lantan caravan.
Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
Jaxon:
Spoiler:
You're the human with the gnomes. I was planning on introducing them later since they are headed to a gnome community near the Anauroch desert; however, lets just make you a part of the caravan. I plan on having the caravan join up with the soldiers. This will give you a supplier for the smokepowder too. What do you think?
Jaxon, now that I look at your original post in the gamethread, I realize that Anasth took it the wrong way, which is not at all surprising considering his personality. (He can get rubbed the wrong way far too easily).
Sorry sorry. I'm around, I just have absolutely nothing to work with for a backstory. Tried a few times to write something, but I didn't like it. I'm going to delve into some of my FR books this weekend for hopeful inspiration.
Ariael: Use that. Maybe your character isn't sure right now. Head injuries or magic side effects could fragment memories pretty easily.
Use your basic skills and stuff to give you an idea of who you are, and maybe a sense of purpose surrounding what we're doing, and make it part of your character's plot to piece things back together. It doesn't have to be the clichéd amnesiac. Just a guy who is a little confused right now. All you really need is a personality.
Since we don't know who the character is right now either, full backstory isn't necessary. Let it happen organically and jump in.
Graynore(Male Human Ravenloft-hybrid infected werewolf Ftr 9/Ranger 1)
I agree with Anasth and Jaxon. Just be the brooding swordsman that doesn't like to talk about his past. We'll worry about developing that later.

How does everyone feel about the descriptive combat? I'm not really great with generating battlemaps but I can give it a shot if everyone needs one.
Let me know.
I have some ideas on speeding up combat:
(1) when readying actions, make the rolls that way we don't wait.
(2) what are everyone's thoughts about having a group of 10 1d20 rolls in your profiles, that way i can use them if there is a roll that needs to be made instead of waiting.
(3) i'm thinking of using the combat manuever system from pathfinder in place of the standard checks. It will assist with the speed of combat.
Anything from Pathfinder will be faster. I personally am having a bit of difficulty with the Rules of Experimental Might, as I do not have the Complete Book in front of me, just Experimental Might I and II. But I think I'm faring alright. I'm sure the Complete book organizes the information better.
There's a problem with that, though. It won't let you put dice rolls in your profile. However, what we could do is roll extra d20s in our posts, and that way, have a collection of them available if we happen to not be present.
