Sebastian Callen |
Sebastian takes a step forward, calling on his faith yet again to strengthen his attacks. With a cry, he strikes at the 'dragon'. map

Sebastian smashes the creature in the face, it does not like face smackins'.
Now, Etienne. I do not want to take anything away form you, so let's be clear, clear as green smoke. A straight line to the dragon takes you through the green cloud, which means when you attack is it has concealment, and a 20% miss chance.
Roll 1d100, a 1 to 20 means you miss, 21-100 means you hit, and kill this thing.
Mardavig |
Etienne couches his lance, spurs his horse and runs the creature through.
It spasms, snapping it's fearome jaws at Etienne uselessly, it's tail whips furiously and slaps at Sebastian harmlessly. The creature falls limp, dead.
At all this commotion the wyvern rouses to consciousness. It pulls itself up somewhat and moves away from the commotion a bit. The beast is badly injured, clearly unable to fly, it's tail and spur nearly bitten off. It begins to make threatening rattles in it's throat, warning you away.
Out of initiative
Matsu Miyuki |
Looking at the young cavalier as if he has lost his mind, Miyuki suddenly smiles.IF he pulls THAT off, I think we have a new diplomat. Ah, no, he is the best for his job!
Still she prepares to support him if needed.
Mardavig |
The creature rattles something that could be speech. It's a complex series of guttural pops and hisses. It spreads it's ragged wings wide and snatches the potion out of Etienne's hand.
It throws back it's head and drinks the potion down. It still seems a little wary but for now it appears that it will follow Etienne.
Sebastian Callen |
"Exactly how do you propose to control this wild creature once its natural tendencies kick in? When it decides to start eating cattle, or worse, people from Emermark? This is not a good idea." Sebastian stands, sword still drawn, ready to strike the wyvern down on orders from Miyuki.
Not sure how Diplomacy helps here, but then again, I don't know what a Beastrider does either...good luck! ;)
Anton Medvyed |
"May all the gods help us. I'm not sure this is a good idea! We came here to hunt a dragon, a menace for all the citizen, and the general is going back to Freewater with another one.... Anton comments while seeing the new scene.
He still has his longbow ready, in case the wyvern decides to do something more dangerous to the team.
Carter Ma'Anubis |
Having not gotten to a vantage point in time, Carter was moving in on the smaller mock-dragon to end its threat while it was down.
Then Ettiene climbs on top of it...
Carter lowers his curved sword.
He turns his attention to the downed dragon.
1d20 + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 4 + 1 + 2 = 20 He sets to work. This creature has ended life and is unworthy and not to mention far too large for a mummification, so he will remove its heart and bury it.
Then he'll see what of its skin he can use. Dragon skin is valuable stuff.
He'll see about anything else useful on it too. I don't know as much about this stuff as Carter does.
Carter Ma'Anubis |
"Working on it. Perhaps this creature's penance will be lessened with us using this to protect the lives of good people as it ended them."
Mardavig |
Miyuki is woefully ignorant on the topic of dragons. Clearly the dragons of Tien are more familiar to her.
At any rate, it's dead, and Carter takes it apart with practiced skill. You now have a bunch of dragon stuff, whatever you want. Eyes, tongue, heart, skin, spleen, bone, it's all yours.
Nearby you find the remains of one of the dragon's previous victims. The skeleton of an elf wear the broken remains of a set of masterwork chain, a mwk darkwood longbow and a bloodstains cloak of elvenkind (only the amour is broken)
Nearby you locate the dragon's hoard, which includes:
5 pp
130 gp
735 sp
890 cp
mwk half plate
mwk battle axe
gold and silver hand mirror
engraved jade scarab
crystal egg
ivory drinking horn
bronze flagon
a zircon
an unworked lapis
a lapis
an unworked turquoise
an agate
2 potions
2 scrolls
Art objects and gems total 460 gp in value, with the mirror being the most valuable.

It's been a long day of dragon hunting and you settle down that night for some rest. The next morning you rise ready to pursue adventure again. The wyvern is not yet ready to fly, but it can follow along behind you on the ground and can look after itself reasonably well.
Carter Ma'Anubis |
Carter immediately gravitates towards the scarab.
He pokes it with his sword before picking it up.
"Ah. This reminds me of home."
He doesn't pocket it, as the treasure should be split evenly and it may not go to him, so he sets it down with the other things.
He looks to the skull and touches it with a sword tip.
"May you find your rightful place in the cycle."
He picks up the potions and studies them.
does this even warrant a check?
Matsu Miyuki |
Compared to the weapon and the armor this are mere trinkets.
I think everyone can get the items and we repay it from our loot.
"We have cleared the dragon problem, what else could we do? There is a another part of the map we could investigate isn´t there?"
Anton Medvyed |
Here is a map of the south.
I've marked as Explored the 4 Hexes we have trade with Narthropple, plus the one we have explored founding the gnomes.
@GM: I don't know if I have to mark as explored even the hex with the river we have crossed to reach the Dragon Lair (King of the Forest).
"I think we shall split the coins in equals parts. But I would like to have the drinking horn for myself, if nobody wants it." Anton says, still suspiciously looking at the wyvern.
Looking at Miyuki he adds:
"There are no magical auras, a part from the 2 potions, I suppose.
So nothing we have to worry about some cursed items are usually found in dragon lairs?"
Carter Ma'Anubis |
"Maybe we should examine the area we went through to get here more thoroughly? We were in much haste to get here."
After being the given the OK by her majesty, Carter takes a closer look at the scarab.
"One of my brothers made these in the temples of our home. Some of them appear simply beautiful and mundane, but are truly a curse to deter grave robbers."
He takes a swig of a potion he's been shaking up since the dragon fell and his eyes glow gold with rapidly shifting Hieroglyphs in their center.

@Carter love that spell fluff
Carter glances over the two scrolls and two potions. They are potions of pass without trace cl 1, magic fang cl 1 and Divine scroll of effortless armour cl 3 and Arcane scroll of darkness cl 3.
Sadly the Wyvern is not yet up to flying his wings are still injured.
Heading north you find the Murque river as it winds it's way towards Lake Tuskwater. You spend the day exploring the area. The land becomes quite marshy where the river empties into the lake. While exploring these marshlands you find a low, muddy hummock that protrudes from the middle of the widening river, surrounded by a palisade of outward-facing, sharpened wooden stakes. Inside, tendrils of smoke rise from a handful of mounds clustered around a single larger mound. A simple wooden gate on the eastern side of the hummock seems to be the only entrance to the fortified island.
Mardavig |
There is no other way onto the island in evidence, there do not appear to be any boats. The river surrounds the island on all sides by at least 50 feet.
However, as you stand on the bank considering your options you hear the high piping cry of a human child in distress, seemingly coming from the island.
Anton Medvyed |
Anton provided his skills in the exploration of the zone, as usual,
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
Sirvival: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (5) + 13 = 18
GM: What time is it, when we approached the shore?
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27
Anton tries to identify the sounds from the island, and see if there is a way to reach the Candlemere a part from swimming in the murky waters.
Carter Ma'Anubis |
Carter looks uneasily at the water, as he has any time they've approached a large body of water.
Mardavig |
It is 9pm, it's actually quite late in the evening, at this time of year there's less than an hour of sun left. You were just looking for a place to camp when you came upon this.
As for lakes and rivers, you're on both. Right at that point where the river opens up into the lake. The island is, as they say, in the mouth of the river.
There aren't any boats, not even moored on the far side. No other ways to get across.
Anton lends his keen ear and in the dusk he can certainly hear the sounds of a a child weeping and occasionally crying out.
Sebastian ventures out, this river is slow moving and swampy, he judges the riverbed to only be 10 feet down, not deep, but too deep to ford, his horse would have to swim. The slow-moving waters are thick with algae and silt.
Sebastian Callen |
"Absolutely not." Sebastian begins taking off his armor. Once done, he will take some rope and secure one end to the pommel of his horse, the other to himself. He rubs Justice's snout. "Stay steady, old friend," he whispers. Turning to look at the others, he says:
"So we have a child in distress over there, and this is a good time to camp and hunt for berries? You disappoint me my friend. We have higher responsibilities now."
With that, he steps to into the river up to his waist. He casts Bull's Str on himself, then sets out.
The spell is to aid swimming. I am now minus any armor. I will Take 10 if possible, but otherwise will take it slow. The rope on the horse is for an anchor if I get into trouble, and If I make it across, it's an aid for the others. When I get across, I will go total defensive while I look for a place to secure the rope.
