Dai Hu makes a note and asks that the next petitioner be shown in.
In come a worried looking couple. The man introduces himself as Rickon Tanner and his wife Notaro. The couple explain that their son Tig is missing. The boy has always been a handful, he likes to roam the shore in search of pets and interesting animals. it's not unusual for him to be away for a night or two but he has been gone for several days now and they are growing concerned. The boy knows how to look after himself and steer clear of trouble, but perhaps the citizenry could be advised of his absence and people could keep an eye out for him?
Jenya P. |
Sure we can put the word out in Freewater, the milita and the surrounding farms of your boy and his description. Does he stay near the shore usually or go further inland? Jenya hides her concern about the boy wandering around at the same time the werewolf attacks were happening.
Mardavig |
The boys father expresses his gratitude and explains that he usually stays close to shore, looking for turtles, lizards and snakes.
Next in is a fisherman named Arven. He explains that he has a secret fishing hole on the east bank of the Tuskwater. Recently a nasty old snapping turtle, of immense size, has taken up residence in his spot. If you could clear it out he'd be mighty grateful. He even brandishes a ring that he claims is magic as a reward. "Found it in the stomach of a huge pike," he explains.

Detect magic
Zartana quietly eyes the ring. A turtle? She can handle a turtle. Just poison it or the water it lives in

"Why not" she grins back at the half elf

Arven marks a spot on the shores of lake Tuskwater just south of the mouth of the Gurdin river.
The next petitioner is Stas, a local Lumberjack. He claims to have encountered an elusive creature called a hodag while felling trees to the west. He even says he struck it with his spear. His friends claim that he lost his spear in the river while drunk. Stas admits to having had a few drinks, but swears he was still sober at the time. He begs you to protect his reputation by bringing him the head of the hodag. In return he will gift you his keen spear, which is probably still lodged in the creature's hide.
Zartana |
"Sounds like Im going to need a bigger trophy case..."

Jenya P. |
Sure, mark it on the map and we'll search for your spear at the very least. Jenya says
To the others This is at least giving us direction on which directions to head when we next go out to explore Emermark
Kyras LeBlanc |
Kyras tries to remember if he's ever heard mention of such a creature before resorting to his booklets and notes.
Kn. Nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Kn. Arcana: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Mardavig |
Kyras has heard of hodags, supposedly they are stealthy creatures that pursue and sometimes attack woodsman, but most people assume they are mythical. They are rumored to be voracious creatures. however.
Stas marks a spot three hexes west and one south from Freewater.
Next comes in Lily Teskertin. This young woman has a reputation in the local community of being something of a flirt. She begins her petition with a rambling speach about how she appreciated elven art and finds it incredibly appealing, this goes on at some length until someone clears their throat and she finally gets to the point.
She explains that some settlers who came from the west mentioned seeing some elven ruins in the southern Narlmarches and if someone were to retrieve an elven statuette, or some other example of elven art she would reward them with her late father's cloak of protection and a kiss.
Raven of Bonespire |
Raven listens intently to all the petitioners, taking notes on each. Not having much to say at this point, other than nodding in agreement to hunting the beasts down.

Raven of Bonespire |
Raven nods. "Yes, everything else seems to be a laundry list for us to take care of, which we will do. As I said before, I'm in for the smith."

Chief White Eagle |
White Eagle listened to all the petitioners.
then after all have gone, I have been in discussions with our wolf friend, Kundal, He wishes mto hear us out as to a cure for his condition, after he wishes to return to his people and makke ammends for the crimes he has committed according to the laws of his tribe. I made no promises save only to look into his cure.

Your business finished for the day, Dai Hu declares the meeting at an end.
That night is a quiet one in Freewater, the town breathes a sigh of relief knowing the werewolf that preyed upon them is under lock and key.
The next days dawns windy, but the warm weather is still holding. The people pf Freewater go about their business, building and growing their new homes in what they hope will be a great and prosperous nation.
Zartana |
i think it might be time for some kingdom building

Jenya P. |
Zartana do you have any specific questions about the herbalist? Jenya just wants to know if the cure is permanent if it turns a raging werewolf back into a human and if the herbalist can keep a crop of wolfsbane ready to use for later if there is need
Zartana |
i plan on getting a few seedlings or seeds for myself. Own batch. Since im making damage doses unlike what most do which is ingested.

Mardavig |
You head over to the home of Craig Bamidele, the herbalist.
Note that Freewater does not technically have an alchemist's shop. This gentleman is more of a herb collector and farmer, an avid amateur.
As you come around to his place he's tending a large herb/vegetable garden.
"Good morning Founders, how can I help you on this blustery day?" he asks, the wind nearly whipping his hat off before he grabs it and pulls it tightly down into place.
"Is this about the troll blood?"
Zartana |
She doesnt show her puzzled look
"Yes. And also want to find out about the herb or plant call wolf's bane"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Mardavig |
"Ah yes, wolfs-bane, or aconite. Not native to these parts, it's a mountain species. But it hardy and will grow here. It does have some medicinal uses, but as I'm sure you know, it is more commonly used as a poison."
"It is said that traps or arrows anointed with wolfs-bane will kill wolves instantly, fantasy of course, and that barbarous tribes dip their arrows in the stuff. I'm guessing that this has more to do with the supposed werewolf you apprehended recently."
"What do you wish to know?" he asks.
Zartana |
"I would like to know how to grow them. I would like to have a few doses readily availible"
-Posted with Wayfinder
Jenya P. |
Not really supposed unfortunately, but we managed to force him back to being human with a dose of the stuff. So it works temporarily for certain. Just wanted to get some direction on whether the cure will stick permanently.
Mardavig |
"As to your questions Keeper Poole, I'm afraid I don't know. I have no first hand knowledge of werewolves, only apocryphal knowledge. Supposedly wolfs-bane will either kill them or heal them, beyond that I do not know. I'd be curious to study the matter, though."
"As for you, Lady Orlovsky, it's a hardy plant, propagates fairly quickly. Even with winter coming on I could make up a few indoor planters and have a solid crop in a month. I could show you how it's done. You can grow it by dividing the roots."
Zartana |
"I appreciate the effort. I just want to be prepared if we do run into a werewolf again. Rather use one dose of this than a couple of arrows and the lives of others"

Jenya P. |
Thanks very much Craig that's very helpful.
As she makes her way back to the castle Jenya shakes her head We've got a lot to build in this place. We need a lot more qualified people in a lot of different professions
Onward to Kingdom building? Should we go to the Discussion page of the Emermark management thread? Oh and Mardavig was the bounty for the worg per person or split between us?
Chief White Eagle |
Without a word to the contrary, White Eagle can only assume they agree.
Now he is left wondering what is to be done?
I have no idea if you agreed to anything or not, I don't know if you are going to cure (or attempt to cure Kundal) A little communication would be appreciated. without any clue to the course of action, White Eagle will go to do other things
White Eagle will begin his search for the missing boy, Tig.
He will have Elangomat do an aerial search while White Eagle will look for clues as to his last known location.
Elangomat perception: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (17) + 18 = 35
White Eagle Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (8) + 13 = 21
WHite eagle survival (tracking): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Jenya P. |
From my understanding we decided to pay the debt of and invite a weapon smith to Freewater. Marked all the places on the map the citizens pointed us to. And decided we'd imprison Kundal for a month and observe him the next time there's a full moon to see if the wolfsbane is permanent or not since nobody in our small town seems to know one way or the other
Jenya P. |
Jenya joins the Chief in scouting around the coastal areas for sings of Tig
Aid Perception on Elangomat automatically works I think since have a Per of 11
Survial: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Hrm, Tig is a mystery
Raven of Bonespire |
Raven spends her time doing her clerical duties, but will also take time out of her day to go and visit Lily Teskertin, to inquire about what else she knows about the Elven ruins..
Kyras LeBlanc |
In off time Kyras will help people with solving minor disputes.
He'll also accompany Raven, if she doesn't mind, for the visit to Lily.
To a hobbyist scholar that's a point of interest.
Mardavig |
Hmmm, Raven, please apply the following changes to my pm to you.
Kyras goes along with Raven, to the home of Klara Closter, where Lily works in the evenings as a barmaid in a sort of home-based brew pub. It quickly becomes apparent that Lily does not know anything of pertinence, in fact Kyras finds her to be something of a flirt and an airhead. She does pay a lot of attention to Raven, however.
Kyras LeBlanc |
That girl must have some difficulty breathing.....
We came 'ere for practically nottin. What a waste of time.
De only tin about 'er is she's sizing up de men around 'ere and winkin at all of dem.
Chief White Eagle |
With the current search turning up nothing, White Eagle will go to the animals of the region. using speak with animals as necessary.
preferring to find some wolves but if not he can use the spell to speak with other animals.
survival: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Knowlwdge nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
if he does find any animals that may be helpful
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
handle animal: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Raven of Bonespire |
Raven smiles at Kyras. Taking him aside, she whispers. "There is more to this than it seems. I'm taking her to my room to speak. Don't worry. Akiros will be right outside. "
Raven will then do as she said, taking Lily there and asking Akiros to keep watch outside so they are not disturbed.

White eagle has apparently made contact with the animals of the region. He then makes his way in the direction of the Setting sun (West I assume) keeping to the banks of the Tuskwater.
Elangomat stays close by for now, looking for signs of peopel passing through the area.
survival: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
Perception, CWE: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
