I think White eagle would opt for the spear quest.
I'm afraid that we don't have the fun game that everyone was working towards one goal in...
I liked that game...
I enjoy drama, I guess, but I thought this game would be light on that and not edging on PVP all the time...
are you leaving? I hope not I like carter, I like just about everyone in this game.

Notable question, while downtime building is out of the question would it be possible to buy GP with gold. Sort of like withdrawing it but in reverse? As Turin is paranoid enough about national defense to be willing to put two thousand GP down towards a barracks as an interest free loan to the kingdom.

I don't want to leave.
I like this game. I like Carter. He's one of my favorite characters.
But now there's conflict and talk of torture and genocide and it's just not the same game now.
I'm not leaving, but I'm having a hard time staying positive with all of this.
Same here. Hoping for some high Fantasy game with some politics. But now many politics and I feel one trys to force game in steampunk way.
Please Keep as it is. Was good that way. Also first part of army Need not be 1000man. But 20, like 2 officers 8 underofficer and 10 regular. Build a core for army, who can Train rest. German army before ww2 was very small, but good trained. Those could Train enlisted men.Zartana |
Warning have been given IC and OOC
Lets just see what happens. No need to keep talking. If things go that way IC no one can say there was no warning.
Play your character. =^^=

Like Zartana said, I play mine as he is. Always have and always will, Lorald does not break his fairness for anyone or anything. That's why he is not lawful, no wordplay lawyers going to use the law as a shield with him or even a buffer. xP
Anyways concerning a small army, it's still an army. We need to build our kingdom in order to sustain it for any length of time. Regardless of the size of the army, consumption is based off it's ACR. So it's more about it's power then numbers, the stronger they are the higher the cost. The lowest cost is 1 BP but because it's based off week rather then month we are talking a 4 BP consumption minimum every kingdom turn. So while we can sustain them that would slow down kingdom development a good bit. I would suggest you hold off on it until we have at least a year worth of kingdom turns and revisit it then. We may have improved enough where the -4 BP per turn is not as crippling to our growth and resources.

I will say that my enjoyment of the game has plummeted recently as well.
RP wise the feeling of working together to build a good kingdom from scratch is completely gone and it's like we're constantly struggling to keep Emermark from becoming a tyrannical police state.
Mechanically I'm not happy about the constant attempts to min-max and break the rules of the game with what seems like an OP broken crafting class.
Jenya P. |
Well do not forget it is consumption, so it can be supported by farming hexes. And could you please cite the weekly consumption, I must have missed that?
From Mass Combat Rules:
http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/other-rules/mass-combat
Consumption: This is how many Build Points (BP) an army consumes each week (unlike most kingdom expenses, this cost is per week, not per month), representing the cost to feed, hydrate, arm, train, care for, and pay the units. An army's base Consumption is equal to its ACR divided by 2 (minimum 1). If you fall behind on paying the army's Consumption, reduce its Morale by 2; this penalty ends when you catch up on the army's pay.
The *cheapest* army is 4 BP per month.

I really am not in favour of house rules like the ones you propose Turin.
Historically speaking armies are crazy expensive to support and I think the Kingmaker rules are reasonably balanced. Think about it Matsu, we could spend 1 BP per month no problem right now. Does it make sense for a 'Kingdom' of barely 500 people to be able to easily support a 100 man army?
I think that's why Kingmaker wants us to settle down, stop adventuring for a year or two, and just Kingdom build so that we actually have a Kingdom and not a small town plus a few farms and mine that we have right now. We'll have enough of an income coming at that point to have maybe even a few armies.
Lorald Orlovsky |
I agree with Jenya, but a point of clarification.
The army number is flexible, it's the power (ACR) that determines the cost. Having an army of 50 human fighters level 5 would cost the same as an army of 100 human fighters level 3. Also we currently have a 2500 population. Sorry but I hate misinformation running amok. xP

OK, taking a leaf out of English history, we could seed the ground here if possible... How about we start encouraging our populace to practice with their bows? We have a large number of hunters and other bow users, let's make sure there are targets available at every settlement, make it the national sport! We can run tournaments for all skill levels, children included, make it a family thing, make our populace proud of it!
Then when we need to raise an army, we have a vast number of already half-decent bowmen who only need a short bit of training to be taught how to fight in a unit, fire in volleys etc.
Alternatively (or even in tandem!) we could implement a voluntary militia. One day a week give free training to those who want to participate, they gain skills that could be useful to both them and their country, camaraderie is boosted as it becomes an institution, people become proud to be members etc. Low pressure and again can lead to more combat-ready citizens.
Thoughts?

On the recue mission vs the hunting
If the GM believes we manage this without a hitch or something, then rp wont be needed till we return. I just dont know what will be needed rp wise. Do i just sit out till the hunt is over or what? But she will ask to have the shell of the turtle creature. She is making it a habbit of taking trophies from hunts ;)

Should we even be bothering the turtle?
My human PFS ranger has the skulls of 2 bosses.
Now that's very pathfinder. So a turtle shell is much more normal and useful. Just be sure you kill its ratkin-ninja master.

That took a little longer than expected, but I'm back.
Speaking of things lasting longer than expected. We are now at over a year since this adventure path began! Everyone give yourselves a hand Feb 28th 2014. A few months hiatus but still going strong.
I could not have done it without such fine and wonderful players as yourselves. We've had good times and bad, we've had people go and people come but Emmermark still stands.

So I guess we're stopping Kingdom building again and we're going to head in three different directions?
1. To save the bard's family. Seems like the most important
2. To kill random local wild things
3. Raven's going to the Forgotten Keep?
Zartana |
I dont think its abandoning. We can still do kingdom building. Can do it simultaneously.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Zartana |
As said. We would like a few months. If a year is possible. But with kingdom events we will have to deal before next round of kingdom building happens.
But yes. More building! :)
GM: i suggest we do a few months. If a year is possible thats cool. Just note all what needs to happen because of events, and we deal with them in order after the admin for all the months are done?

3. Raven's going to the Forgotten Keep?
Um I hope you don't mean the abandoned keep. The one Lorald and his team mates cleared out and he then claimed and is waiting on the council's promised funding to restore. Just checking sense I think our team found like three (not sure) places that could fit the bill. The five towered, ancient elven designed one was his claimed. Sense it's name and stuff won't be given til after restoration.
