You can upgrade your homunculus on top of what it gets as a familiar as well if your taking the feat regardless. Also unless I am mistaken, you don't pay for the homunculus if you get it via a feat. So the money you would otherwise spend on buying it, you could use on upgrades.

The "Die For Your Master" feat.
Basically the familiar makes a reflex save to keep you from dying.

It could help potentially, but dying hasn't even been much of a scare for Carter so far.

There's also nothing to say that it wouldn't work with an improved familiar.

I found another archetype that stacks with Valet. It's called Sage and it does a lot for knowledge checks, which is something PseudoSphinx is good for.

Carter is just one of my favorite characters and I guess I might be trying too hard to make him good. >_<

Sphinx is the winner, by quite a bit.
His name is Kane. He is a slightly anthropomorphic sphinx that is house cat size. He has a human type head with pointy ears and black hair like Carter. He has crane wings and a Scorpion tail. His fur is blonde and he has bandages on his torso like Carter. He stands on his back legs and asks a lot of questions.

One of the best things is that he speaks Sphinx like Carter, but can understand any language, so he can translate anything for Carter in a language few others use. He also can use Identify which is one of Carter's most used spells, which in turn frees up spell slots.

I kind of wish Turin was a founder so that there was some precedent to any of this.

I don't want to exclude you as a player, but I feel like because you're a player we're trying to press Turin into canon when he's really rather confrontational.

I feel like if he was an NPC Mardy brought to do this, the characters wouldn't accept some of the things he's done and still let him in the council room.

I feel like we should work this out out of character so things don't escalate in character.

This is a good game and it would be a shame if we bogged down the atmosphere of it with in character confrontation if we can do something about it.

I only want to help the game be better. I'm not pointing any fingers or accusing you of anything, but I feel like we shouldn't continue the way we are. I'd rather adjust canon and make everyone happy than keep things the same and have them break down.

I agree with Carter and Kyras, much as a given PC can try to bend to accept the opinions and actions of another PC, there comes a point where either the PC is acting outside their personality or else the confrontation escalates due to opposing views.

OOC it is only fair to place Turin in a position with as much power as other players, but IC when the PC himself acts outside of the acceptable boundaries of the others, it does put us in a bind. There is no drama without conflict, but when it's PC to PC it can quickly devolve. I really enjoy this game and the world we're building, I'd hate to lose another player due to incompatibilities.

It's a balancing act, do we have any suggestions to improve things?

Charm Person is a far better option then say speak with the dead which is what Turin would consider otherwise. Admittedly the reason Turin didn't go for charm person in the first place is that it is "unreliable" in his view. As for conflict keep it in the council chambers, otherwise show a united front...

I really don't see how anyone of the other PCs can show a 'united front' with Turin when he keeps on doing things that go completely against what every other PC can even tolerate let alone condone. I mean what is up with the torture comments?

By "united front" I mean we don't criticize each other in public, we may argue behind closed doors but to the citizens we look like the perfect "role-model".

All people are asking is to stop trying to swing the game your way the entire time. Trying to force your gifts/abilities so that we "submit" to what your character wants. If you play ball with the rest things will go smoothly. For all involved. The warning is that if this keeps up your character will be forcibly removed from the game with in character reasons.

But if you keep defending him OOC too, it might result in not being allowed to bring in a replacement character

I'm glad to see everyone mixing it and getting some good conflict and interactions out of their characters, while remaining civil between players.

It's easy for this kind of thing to blow up online, where context and tone are often hard to interpret.

Just so we're all on the same page I think we're going to stick with the Kingdom building rules for construction.

BP doesn't just encompass cash, it also abstracts a certain amount of manpower, material resources and political will. The fact that you can buy and sell BP makes it seem like they are purely cash, but when Brevoy sent a convoy of materials and settlers, that was what established your initial treasury, not a giant chest of gold.

Thanks Mardavig. Any thought on my idea on just doing one roll per month for some Craft or Profession check and having the PCs make gp off of that? Fits the flavour of working with the populace and gets a little bit of money that might help us catch up to the WBL a bit.

So it would be, make a skilled work check and X 3 for the month (instead of divide by 10 for a day). Simple and generating a bit of gold while we Kingdom build is nice. We *could* get into weekend rules but just X 3 is simple and gives us some rolling to do on an individual level.


I'm afraid that we don't have the fun game that everyone was working towards one goal in...

I liked that game...

I enjoy drama, I guess, but I thought this game would be light on that and not edging on PVP all the time...

Anyone want to spice up downtime by handling the requests from the citizens? Judging from the look of those they really don't advance the story line but just act as "filler". I think that is what we need, cooping up so many adventurers in one place for six months may not be that healthy for the environment...

Turin would be up for hunting the trolls and shambling mounds, he may be the only person here that could stand a chance of succeeding in that task (by turning his party into the ultimate in anti troll technology).

Turin can handle the trolls and mounds, preferred party would be White Eagle, Lorald and Natalya/Jenya. Turin can if given enough time give the party a lot of anti troll "oophm". Flaming Troll bane weapons anyone?

I think we can do this and still engage in kingdom building, we don't need to be at the Kingdom's helm 24/7. A little RR&S (rest, relaxation and shooting) is good for the constitution.
