Venture-Captain Drandle Dreng’s pinched face is hard to
see from behind the stack of books that divide the front of
his office from the space behind his desk. A shockingly old
man with white hair and slightly milky eyes, he is surprised
by the appearance of outsiders in his office, and looks up, half
startled and half relieved.
“Thank you for coming on such short notice. I’d been
meaning to give this assignment to you at a later date, and
with less pressing time constraints, but it seems that time has
conspired against us.”
Dreng mumbles to himself as he passes
out a stack of notes and maps from behind the wall of books.
“These notes are from a recent Chronicle—it contains some
interesting finds, but one of them is now the utmost priority
to the Society.”
Dreng lightly taps a bony finger on a map, on which can
be seen a section of Absalom with a small corner townhouse
circled in deep red.
“This townhouse is a façade for an underground vault.
The vault belonged to an old noble family of Absalom that
was expelled a decade ago—the Decklands. The family was
forced out when their patriarch—a man known as Orias—was
discovered to have written documents detailing the city’s
defenses, documents he intended to hand over to hostile forces
loyal to Cheliax. The Chronicle indicates that a copy of these
documents exist within the vault.
“A Pathfinder looking into the Decklands and their
Chronicle references in Cheliax was attacked and killed ten
days ago. The thugs made off with a copy of his notes—
fortunately, he’d already sent us another. We have reason
to believe it was the work of the Decklands’ oldest child,
a young woman named Celeena, and she’s the reason this
assignment is now urgent. The fact that Celeena and her
forces were willing to kill a Pathfinder for this information
shows how desperate they are to retrieve the documents. If
she were able to get these documents and return them to
Cheliax, it would undermine the defenses of the whole city,
as well as cause the Society undue headaches. Find Celeena,
find the documents in her vault, and prevent this situation
from turning into one big mess for the Society.”
Olaf Fizzlewink |
Olaf looks at the funny scribbles on the paper, trying hard to figure out what they mean. He was never the best at reading.
Why people always use big words....make Olaf head hurt..
Map easier to read.
His face crumples up as the barbarian tries hard to concentrate
So we go to red house on map, go underground and find papers? You think others there already? He asks the Venture Captain
Kormil |
A well dressed, well groomed half elf enters. Very basic armor. Very basic gear, except for the long elven curved blade on his back. Silver hair and green eyes meet those gathered there. He listens intently to the orders. After the Introduction and briefing he turns yo the rest.
Greetings. I am called Kormil. Sorry for the delay, a good friend of mine had to make a small detour, and we arrived late because of it
Olaf Fizzlewink |
Olaf is a short but stocky Gnome, and looking a little rough around the edges; but fairly neat for a barbarian. His dark purple, almost black hair is neatly tied behind his head. His grey skin is offset by his almost unnaturally crystal blue eyes. Small scars are visible over most of his skin, with a few larger ones here and there, covered only by basic clothing, some leather and his chain shirt. The one thing that makes him stand out though is his greatsword sticking out behind his back.
Elenial Windwalker |
Well met my friends, my name is Elenial.
A slim elven woman enters the room, dressed in studden leather armour and green cape with a longbow and quiver on her back, blonde hair and gray eyes. She's moving over to Dreng's desk and takes a look at the map.
Can you tell us more about the vault?

If you arrived after Kormil, you would have seen the creature outside. It resembles a 2 headed hydra. Simply standing/sitting quietly outside. Prob eyed you as you walked past
Kormil smiled as she walks in Good day Elenial. Glad you could join us. The more the merrier. Need all the help we can get.
Elenial Windwalker |
Elenial smiles back at Kormil and asks
Good day Kormil, nice to meet you, is this your pet waiting outside?
Kormil |
He chuckles and shakes his head
She isnt a pet. Shes been my friend for longer than I remember. Probably over 18 years now. Her name is Voronwer
Elven for Loyal One
Kormil |
He smirks at her comment about animals
She isnt an animal Elenial. One would call her an Outsider I guess.
He looks down at the odd looking gnome. Well, odd for a gnome
Hey there little guy. Nice sword you have there.
Elenial Windwalker |
Elenial turns red because of the mistake a ranger should not make. I'm sorry, an Outsider then, ok.
Then she turns to Olaf and says Hello Olaf, nice to meet you!
Kormil |
Whoooo, easy There little guy. Didnt mean it to offend you. All you little folk I use that. he chuckles. His shoulders sag as the door opens. I thought I said wait outside? he manages to say just before he is almost knocked off his feet by the creature that enters
Voronwer - Hydra Eidolon |
Two heads poke through the door. Looking left and right at the same time. Then at each other, both seem to grin then one body emerges through door and it almost tackles the half elf. Both heads looking very proud of them selfs, as if it was a tramendous feat to find him
Voronwer - Hydra Eidolon |
The woman looked very interesting. Almost like their friend. Just more pointy. And more lithe. So. Need to investigate. They walk over and inspect her. Sniffing and looking her over, one head does the same to the gnome. Curious about the small thing. It gives it a lick. Just to see how it would taste
Inspect Elenial: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Inspect Olaf: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
The head inspecting the elf smiles broadly, showing all its teeth in happiness.
The other one, closes its eyes, making gagging movements, shaking its head, pulling away quickly
Sorry Olaf. Seems Voronwer doesnt like you =^^=
Olaf Fizzlewink |
Olaf only just steps out of the way enough for the Hydra to pass by and almost floor the half-elf; sees Elenial enjoying the show and joins her in laughter.
See, it easy to make you my size; even you friend is helping
Kormil |
Kormil jumps at them, trying to pull the thing away
Bad girl! No! NO! Thats very rude... get away from them... im terribly sorry, she isnt use to other people... Voron... no!
Kormil sighs in defeat as she simply trots away. Happy with her accomplishments
Elenial Windwalker |
Elenial looked at the teeth and is happy that she was not tasted by Voronwer and says I think I like Voronwer, she's a nice creature.
Kormil |
Still looking at the door, making sure to stop her if she decided to return...
Best friend I ever had. She just acts out now and then. But loyal to a tee. Shes always been there for me.
Elenial Windwalker |
After the situation calmed down, Elenial remembers why she came to this place.
As far as I'm informed there should be a fourth pathfinder on the way to join the party.
GM Tyranius |
The Venture-Captain digs through more notes in his vast pile of papers
Yes, Yes there do seem to have been reports of individuals milling about the area As he replies to the gnome.
As to the reference to the Vault well, there’s not much that can be said about the vault. It was reportedly used to store a portion of the family’s wealth and was ingeniously trapped when the Decklands fled
Absalom. The family archives, where the documents should be stored, should be right next to the family crypt in the lower levels.”.
Elenial Windwalker |
It's good to know where exactly we have to look for the documents. Elenial says Do you know if Celeena put any guardians in or around the Vault?
superfluous |
A slithering noise can be heard outside the entryway. A voice that was a mixture between a hiss and a roar was piercing through the corridor. The eidolon was speaking in common tongue but it's accent was too thick to fully understand from that far away.
A black haired, black eyed tiefling comes waltzing into the area. She seems to have an aura to make it hard to see the good within her, but her crooked smile makes her hard not to like.
I'm terribly sorry I am late, but Tootsie was eating a few rodents... well, more like 50. He now has a belly ache due to the fact he is a glutton for punishment.
she reaches out her bony but freshly manicured hand to greet whoever is around her.
My name is Superfluous, and I know all too well how far the Cheliax will go to get what they want.
She glances around the room, and notices a glowing rune coming from the forehead of a half elf in the room
ah, theres the other summoner I see. I bet my Tootsie will be glad to see another eidolon while we are together. Your friend is quite the beautiful creature.
However, on a different note..... what did I miss due to my unforeseeable absence?
GM Tyranius |
“The agents in Cheliax report that Celeena hired mercenaries from the Devil’s Claw Company, a mercenary organization of failed Hellknights.”The Venture-Captain responds as the young Tiefling enters the room.
Ah welcome, welcome. Now that you are all here we may proceed"
"I would be glad to answer any further questions that you have but if you have no other inclinations then I would suggest that yougather your gear and any additional items you may require to be able to set off at once."
Once you are prepared to set off would be a good time to buy any additional gear that you might need. Also if you could set up some basic stats in the Class field similar to Superfluous that would be every helpful.
Kormil |
Inspect Superuous: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20 She likes you too
The half elf smiles and greets her heartedly Pleased to meet you. My name is Kormil, and I hope Voronwer didnt bug you on the way here. She can be over zealous sometimes when it comes to new people
He nods at the VC We are ready sir
Olaf Fizzlewink |
Olaf takes her hand and shakes it.
Hi. I Olaf. You just miss some funnies and talk of papers.
Olaf only need food if you think we be under ground for long he says to the rest of the party
Elenial Windwalker |
Hello Superfluous, nice to meet you, I'm Elenial. Elenial says and waves to Superfluous.
Ready when you are, Venture-Captain. My bow shall sing with your swords.
GM Tyranius |
Sitting on the corner of a quiet street, the red brick Deckland
townhouse melds in with the middle class buildings in this
portion of Absalom. A small, flickering candle can be seen
through a barred window on the building’s west side and a
single door can be seen on the building’s south face.
Map is linked near my name. Let me know if you cannot see it. The black boxes are just fog of war blocking out the inside of the structure.
Also let me know if you wish to enter areas in a different order and I can change it on the map.
Elenial Windwalker |
I'm afraid there are people in the room which is lighted by the candle and removing the bars would make noise and alert the guardians. Maybe we should enter through the door at the south face of the building? Elenial whispers to her companions.
Olaf Fizzlewink |
But Olaf no good at sneaky. Olaf go with....creatures in front, make noise, and you go sneaky in back , gesturing with his hands to the Eidolons, momentarily remembering the earlier debate.
That went over his head :P he sees a fight coming
Voronwer - Hydra Eidolon |
Seeing the yucky small thing will be joining them, she gets her serpent buddy to stand between her and it. Sticking out their tongues at him
Elenial Windwalker |
I think Olafs idea is not so bad. I personally prefer using my ranged weapon and a tough guy supporting the creatures could be helpful.
Kormil |
Kormil nods and begins to make his way around. Ignoring the actions of his friend. He waits for those more profficient to go ahead first before he starts. Just in case...
Sorry for lack of stats in profile heading. Only at my pc in about 4 hours...
Elenial Windwalker |
Elenial offers to try to find out if Celeena or the mercenaries installed some traps or an alarm system around the house.
I would do a perception check, maybe there is something hidden?
GM Tyranius |
At the South Door Elenial notices that there seems to be a wire attached to what appears to be a bell.
The west window seems to have 4 bars across the window
Elenial Windwalker |
Ah, look, there is a bell alarm connected to the door. Is somebody of you trained in disabling alarms?
Elenial Windwalker |
When we go in in two groups then at least one group has the advante of surprise when the alarm rings. But who is going to start? We also need some time to remove the bars from the window.
