I just went and took a look at Crane Wing. I think that's the most broken feat I've ever seen.
One successful attack automatically negated. No rolls, no counter. And if they have two attacks, they negate the one that hits.
It's awesome no matter what level you are but really OP below 12th and completely ridiculous below 6th.
Good thing I've got a mount because there is really only one other counter I can think of, and it will be tough to get off against monks.
Now I see why so many of our submissions dipped into monk.
You have to have +5 BAB or Monk 5 to use it however, so how is anyone but the Drunken Snake getting it?
Unarmed Fighter gives me a free style feat, which I chose Crane Style, my 3rd level character feat I grab Dodge then my 5th level character feat I grab Crane Wing.
the good news is you don't have to fight us...we are on the same team :)
1) Ranger or Paladin with a mount.
2) A normal monk with Flurry of Blows to get multiple hits.
3) A druid (if only they were allowed), grab a animal companion and wild shape into something that has multiple attacks :).
4) Gang up on said monk, make him "burn" the ability then hope the others can pick up the slack and continue hitting him.
yeah it seems great, and it is great, but not as good as it appears. all it takes to counter it is more than one enemy against the crane-winger. also BAB over 5 or TWF will do it too. Plus you could catch the monk unawares (although that's a little harder in the arena). Also ranged attacks.
drunken snake doesnt even have Crane Wing, i decided to go with Snake (of course) and Boar styles. i might pick up Crane later though, but i also like Panther, Monkey and Janni styles. Master of Many Styles is basically what i imagine a monk being, even more so than the basic class.
Yeah. It may seem OP at first, but there are plenty of ways to get around it. Really, the only time it's ridiculous is at low levels. And what do we do in that case, children? That's right--work as a team!
I'm not saying its not a legal build Gil. Its legal and quite clever. I am just saying that I do not know how to fight that with a melee fighter with one attack a round. Thoughts?
Hi Skorn, this is not PvP thus you will not fight each other. Due to the lack if healing in this game, it's going to be brutal and tough thus rhetoric requirement to do some defensive builds.
For the drow race is exceptional approval but he is withdrawing sadly. In your case of paladin, see how best you can work it in. If can't then you may skip paladin if you want. Don't wanna force people to do characters they do not like
Another matter, for the crane style I will household it apply to the 1st attack they received. This is to simplify the combat process as previously with Xem it's a hassle having him to decide which attacks are negates.
Also, and this may just be my interpretation, but the Crane Wing feat states that it only functions while using the Crane Style feat (even goes so far as to link that feat in the description), meaning that folks who would take this feat (qualifying without prerequisites like some classes/archetypes can do) without taking the Crane Style itself may have a useless feat on their hands because they cant use the Style that then allows the move.
The same would apply to characters taking more than one style feat chain that do not have the Fuse Style ability of the Master of Many Styles (or an equivalent ability from another archetype that I am unaware of). If you are in Crane Style you cant use Panther Riposte without first using a swift action to activate Panther Style, thereby foregoing your use of Crane Wing as you are no longer in Crane Style.

Geography
The River Kingdoms are located in the marshy lowlands of the Sellen Riverbasin, where its three branches combine in their journey south to the Inner Sea. The region borders on Numeria and Brevoy in the north, Galt andKyonin to the south, and Razmiran and Ustalav to the west. There are few roads throughout the land, and the branching web of the Sellen and its tributaries provide the primary means of transportation through and within the region. Spread throughout the land are city-states and fortresses of various sizes and populations, some of which seem to appear overnight, and many that are wiped off the map just as quickly in the constant feuding between settlements.[1]
