Woah. Cool it guys. If we get disqualified, our country gets invaded and we all die. Let the priests do their job. If Azreal didn't do anything illegal I'm sure there won't be a problem."

At Ariella's command Dragon will drop his blade and drop in a submissive bow toward Razmir.

HP: 6+? Dwarf Stone Warder Sorcerer (Deep Bloodline)

Riggar will back off at Ariella's words. Still not happy that this Razmir wants to have a pissing match because someone wants to have a little fun and presents no real threat.

Ghilanna watches the proceedings with mixed amusement and disgust. Ignoring the crowd, the other gladiators and the priests coming toward them, she steps up beside Ariella and Azrael.

"Let us get this farce done before it blows completely out of control."

With a sweep of her arm, she asks Ariella to lead as they approach the throne of Razmir. Hoping the others will fall in line, she raises her spear before the 31 steps. Waiting for the others to raise their spears into the air, she stamps three times and drives hers into the ground.

"Here's hoping the others follow suit and Ariella can think of something dignified to say lest we be taken as part of this circus alongside the 'pirates.'"

Turning to Ariella, Ghilanna waits to see what will happen...

Stop!

Psi spoke out as he sent a telepathic thought to Azrael.

Interesting...an innate ability..

My Divine Lord, I do not sense any arcane energy or training within him.

Razmir stared at Azrael as electrical energy is building up in his left hand. He considers Psi words. After a long moment, the crowd fixated upon their Divine God for his decision. The electrical energy dissipated as Genevia sighed a breath of relief.

The orator looks around nervously before resuming her theatrics.

Let the ceremony begin!!

-------------------------------------------------------

After the ceremony, the gladiators retired to their chambers before Genevia walks in.

Congrats! We apparently have very high ratings and we have received many sponsors for our team!! I am so proud of you guys! Azrael little display did win alot of attention to him!

Anyway all this is for naught if we do not win the game tomorrow. We will be competeting against Outsea for our first game and they are many eyes on our performance.

Do rest well and retire early for your match tomorrow. Ghilanna a wall has been raised for your privacy.

Genevia waves to a makeshift wall built in the chamber with a wooden door to separate her living space from the rest.

Some RP on today's events before the fight next morning. All add +1 to your reputation, Azrael may add +2.

drunken snake walks up to Riggar after waving. "interesssted in a bit of ssparring while we wait for the food and drinkss to arrive?"

GM, Riggar:
not trying to get caught up in dice rolling here, just sparring as a "story action" since it would make sense that monks would use at least a portion of their spare time training, and as the only other professed martial artist, Riggar would be the one who Nissk would be more inclined to interact with.

Aye would enjoy a good spare my slithering friend. Help te keep me lose before the big match temorrow. Aye needs to get as much practice is as possible

let's get our rp on. Riggar will start off with a simple kick flourish then when his turn again will go for a leg sweep trip.

As servants rushed in setting the dinner table with lavish food and wine, another servant came and passed Genevia a golden scroll.

Alright I have the riddle for tomorrow match up....it is tough and teamwork is absolute to succeed in tomorrow match. A riddle is given until it is revealed tomorrow at the match itself.

Two pits, a master and his creature.
Two Masters, the creature cannot serve
One stroke the creature fall
Both pits the victor emerge.

Riggar takes one punch to the gut, but deftly deflects the other. In retaliation Riggar takes a defensive stance then goes for a grapple into a trip maneuver.

to be fair kinda gotta roll 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21 vs my cmd 24

Snake avoids the grapple and strikes, stumbling about in an unpredictable manner

Here are the rolls :) If that's okay with you :)

To Genevia she says, "Have you resolved the quarters situation for this evening? I would like to retire."

GM, Riggar:
rolls are fine, i just didnt want to bog down the game for the others or encourage a brawl in our quarters hahaha! - grapple misses and i will snake style (use sense motive as AC as immediate action) vs the trip

snake style AC vs trip: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (4) + 16 = 20

trip misses, provoking AO due to snake fang

AO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
friendly, nonlethal dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2
spending 1 drunken ki to get bonus dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 6

my AO hits, giving me an additional attack

AO: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
friendly, nonlethal dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 6

on snake's turn he will step back out of Riggar's melee range and take a swig of wine from his waterskin (+1 drunken ki (total 2), 2 swigs down on my waterskin

correct me if this doesn't do the sparring justice
Riggar goes for the grapple but the drunken snake sways to the side, avoiding the grapple. Riggar then goes for a trip, but Nissk sees it coming and stumbles out of the way. Nissk throws out two quick strikes, the first hits Riggar but Riggar deftly dodges the second strike. Snake then stumbles backward and takes a drink from his waterskin.

GM/Snake:

Spoiler:

I say we simply call it a draw. Your Snake Style and my Crane Style will cancel each other out. I am perfectly okay with saying we both work up a sweat parrying each other and landing the occasional blow.

Plus this prevents an all-out brawl in quarters and keeps the game going :)

After the sparring match, Riggar will take a seat and eat a hearty meal. Both due to the sparring match that just took place and it may be his last if things don't fare well in his first gladiator match.

yeah i was thinking the same thing hahaha but it was fun. reminded me of an oooollld game i played where one of the other players was a monk and to progress to a higher level he had to fight 1vs1 with the best monk in the world (and he was the second best). it was pretty cool just visualizing all the moves like a kung fu movie

Nissk will sit down and eat ravenously after the sparring. He will fill his two wineskins with wine, and drink plenty more wine with dinner. He will chat if anyone else is chatting, otherwise he is focused on the business of eating.

styx merely finds enjoyment watching the sparring studying the various art forms.

after the match Styx looks to the team captain

So any interesting news or advice for the match, or anything else?

At some point when everyone is together, prompted by Styx, Ariella stands and launches into a little speech. "I have some ideas about tactics. I am an archer, so I will call out a target and start shooting them. Everyone should do their best to focus on that target until it's dead. I'll attempt to move from the strongest to the weakest opponents. If we all focus fire we should be able to take them down quickly. Flank with each other whenever possible. Against melee opponents wait for them to approach you, ready yourselves to attack them once they are near. Against ranged opponents do the opposite, charge them as soon as possible. If we do these things I think we will be successful. Of course since you all are experienced warriors I'm sure you already knew everything I just said. I won't be telling you what to do in the field, and I'm not saying this now because they made me leader. I just want us all the be on the same page. Playing hero will get us all killed, move together, fight together and we'll be fine."

In other words if you go, then all the bad guys and then everyone else, you should delay and fight with the group, not charge ahead and leave an opening in our lines and yourself vulnerable to flanking etc. If we move in a wedge with me in the middle I think we'll do well.

Resting Hall

Genevia looks at Ariella battle plans before whispering softly to the group.

I believe the match up tomorrow you will be split into 2 teams..also I believe you will be greatly disadvantaged...no surprise as Omega planned the match tomorrow.

Christmas is coming so likely the combat will start after that. But will slowly build up the the prematch and once all is ready, I will start combat. Any possible absence after Christmas do sound off in the discussion thread.

I can swing this big black blade Azrael indicates the adamantine greatsword he carries, but I prefer to fight mounted with a lance. You will meet my mount tomorrow. I call him Thunder and I can summon him to me once a day. I can charge things and ride on past after an attack without provoking an attack from what I charge. And that light show I pulled earlier - once a day, 30' radius centered on me. Lasts a full minute. If you are in the light, and my ally, it makes you harder to hit +1 AC and a little more accurate with your swings +1 to hit. On top of all that, I can do some healing. If I channel it heals everyone in a 30' radius - bad guys too. But I can lay on hands to heal and even do it at a distance, but it takes twice the power to do that. I hope to stay mounted and mobile when I can be.

Ghilanna looks down at Ariella's plan and then tries to match circles up with the various people around the room. She seems to have a general gist of what the human girl means, and then begins drawing patterns on the table in spilled water.

"I am not against this plan necessarily, although I do have concerns."

Looking around the table, she tries to weigh each members styles but rapidly gives up.

"We need to know who fights offensively and who defensively. Who of you are able to move quickly through lines of troops and who must wade into them?"

Erasing her water drawing on the table, she pulls out a journal and pen to draw serious plans. Her start can be found here.

"Simply dividing us by speed should look something like this. We have four members with quick reaction times, but only two able to cross long distances. Myself and the angel are able to go through lines fairly easily, but I do not know who else can overrun. Some of you, I do not know what you do at all."

"It seems to me that we have two priorities - dismembering bodies and severing heads. I recommend that the snake and the angel concentrate on severing heads, especially those of priests or with heavy ranged ability.

I will try to break through the line and help if possible, if not I will circle and go back through the line.

I recommend that the others concentrate on dismembering the body and slaying as many as possible.

Ariella stays with this group if possible, shooting between them or over their heads. If she has the opportunity, she should also target leaders or large creatures to take them down."

Jangling her keys in her hand, she seems lost in thought, yet still clearly exhausted.

"It is vital to know who fights offensively and who defensively. We can make no plan without that information.

Please state your overall fighting style. Offensive/defensive; moving/stationary; melee/ranged."

"It's not a plan so much as basic tactical advice. Planning requires knowledge of the enemy. I still feel the most basic and useful tactics are focusing fire and moving together. Obviously people with the fastest movement speeds should be in the rear or on the edges, so that they can use their mobility to fill in any gaps that appear, or get to where they are needed most. The slowest should form the core of formation. Since they are likely to outnumber us I think a wedge is better than a line. Right now, there's not a whole lot more we can say. We need to know who we are fighting. Though of course knowing everyone's capabilities will be helpful. I am a skilled archer, and martial artist. Though my focus is almost exclusively on archery."

Male Tiefling Fighter 1/Gladiator 4

Diablo just lounges in his bed, not having much rest from the prior night.

He closes his eyes but can still hear the war-room talk.

His eyes pop open and he sits up.

“You know what I’m gonna do? I’m gonna be an angel and not kill anyone, heh. Yea, I’m gonna go in there, those clowns gonna come at me with gusto, and I’m gonna knock their asses out cold.”

“Cuz if you think about it, chances are just about everyone on our team and the ones we gonna fight pretty much hate that steel-faced wanna-be tyrant. The enemy of our enemy could be our friend. United we conquer, divided we fall. And that’s Razzy’s little plan. Keep our nations divided by making us kill each other.”

“I come from Cheliax, the Capital of Tyranny. And I’ll let yall in on a little secret…”

“Tyrants rule out of fear cuz they themselves live in fear. Fear. That’s what it’s all about, man. And no one knows it more than me.”

Diablo lights up a smoke.

“The way I reckon…I don’t remember signing on any dotted line. Someone plucked me out of my cell and signed me up for this. So I’m gonna go in there. Give the crowd a show, win ‘em over. And watch Razzy eye’s quiver in fear when he tries to make a martyr out of me. Heh, why do ya think he wears a mask?”

“I don't care what yall do tomorrow. But I know what I’m doin.’ I’m gonna razzle and dazzle and give Razzy somethin’ to hide from. And when I’m through, ole Razzy’s gonna need a bigger mask.”

Diablo reclines back on his bed.

“I don’t about you guys, but if I’m gonna die for a god, he better be the real deal.”

“And I’m takin’ the highway to hell, baby! WOOO! Where the gods got hornies and the chicks got titties!”
