Sister Yolandi |
I am going to keep it real man. We have been traveling, traveling and traveling. Starship to one planet, then stop, going to another, then lander to surface, then ground craft to inquisitor, now skyship to actual mission. With this kind of format you are going to need to cut some of that if you want to keep people in the game.
Baron Reinhard Oberstein |
@Yolandi hahaha he's new to GMing if I remember correctly. He started off a little slow and stopped a bit too often to give us a chance to react. But, after I mentioned it, things have been moving faster.
@Circle it's alright to have more things happen in each of your posts. In PbP we're used to reacting to 2-3 different things and asking questions which would in a normal conversation be asked in the middle of a "post".
A player might even be reacting to something that happened 2 posts ago and his actions should happen before the action another player has posted etc. It's all part of the crazy world of PbP :D
Baron Reinhard Oberstein |
I totally agree with you on skipping that wandering monster encounter, it's not very interesting or plot related.
Will you use Yolandi as an NPC in our party? We're running a bit low on PCs as I'm not sure whether Filip is still active, and EmissaryOfTheNorth never finished his character.
I could ask some guys playing with me in other Warhammer 40k games if they want to jump in
cirle |
Well, let's have a roll call of who's still in.
As far as the pacing, a couple of points:
1. They're better GMs out there I'm sure; but you asked me to run this for you.
2. From this point on, this is pretty much a sand box: don't wait on me to give you plot coupons. Make things happen. Start pushing buttons. You're dangerous blackguards (or pretending to be, and really, what's the difference), so start being dangerous. I'm a firm believer in collaborative play; you want to run into a nemesis NPC on this island, cool. Sure, he's leering at you as you enter the Crematoria. What do you think would be interesting for your character to find here?
3. There will be plenty of bolter-play eventually; but this adventure (and I didn't write it, again it's in the Disciples of the Dark Gods book; is written like a Call of Cthulhu scenario. There's a lot of creepy NPCs that you have to meet, and lot of role-playing opportunities to be had. You're 900 km. away from backup, in an millennium old necropolis surrounded by depraved crazies. Have fun.
Baron Reinhard Oberstein |
1. You're doing fine, no complaints here
2. A bit too early to run into my nemesis here, but we'll keep that in mind for later. But, since Oberstein is from this sector he might run into a young heretical noblewoman who's heard he's disappeared for 3 years. She thought he was a bore before and is happy to see it was just his 'coverð. She is glad to find someone of her station that shares her interests in the heretical. (She could be of help and/or hindrance to the group)
3. I like this style. Inquisitors (and their retinue) spend a lot more time on research, intrigue and spying than shooting. I'm in a Deathwatch campaign where I can shoot and kill as much as I want.
GM-Gathrix |
I gave an entire list of non-combat things I did while traveling, none of which were used. I also get that its not all combat, its also not all planes, trains and automobiles. Lazy one sentence posts by a GM are not inspiring to players. If you want it to be a sandbox, then when a player says I am going to do this, then go with it, don't gloss over it and say, "nevermind you were rerouted somewhere else."
As far as people asking you to run it, that wasn't me. You should put up a recruitment because you want to. If your heart is not 100% into it don't expect your players to be.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
All right, the section aboard The Refulgent Light was some unnecessary atmosphere that should have either been condensed or dropped. It's a part I added, apparently unwisely, to the written adventure. Lesson learned.
Going forward I'll try to be more 'responsive', and give you more 'spot-light' opportunities.
Oberstein, if you want to recruit some one to take over for the Sister, go ahead.
Baron Reinhard Oberstein |
btw I want to note that I liked the "rerouted" part, we were all set to get going and started to make plans, but then felt the might of the inquisition in them rerouting the ship. The rather mundane turned to intriguing.
I'll talk to some guys and see if they want to take over. Do I offer them to make a new character or only to take over the sister?

Cool, and that is why I put this in discussion, so we can have a discussion. Imagine that. I am sorry that I did not communicate effectively before and allowed my frustration to get to the point where I quit. Have fun everyone.

Well if someone wants to fill a slot left by Gathrix's departure that's cool.
Yeah, I wanted to emphasize how irregular it was that you were pulled from your initial assignment, and how much pull Marr has; but it stretched out too long and turned into a travelogue.
It could've all been done in a quick summary.

So, do I just go for the 'and you had a Guardsman all along' approach and act like I've always been there and very quiet, right?

Sister Jasmine |
So the discussion seems to be more active than recruitment where I was posting and waiting for the GM to approve the sister. I'm gonna re-read and see how/where I can jump in...Maybe you've been dragging me along, I'll have to catch up, nearly gave up after no response for a week...
I read the mission role suggestions before and it seems I'm an "escort" which means I'm unarmed/armored right? I can play that part, just hope I got something nearby if I needed to fight.
Anyways, I'm caught up, ready to join once the GM approves. I had hoped to ask, but one thing is my starting equipment, I will have had money to purchase something if we're doing the 4 months pay like others discussed in the threads. I've bought bolt pistol/basic training, I hope I will have already purchased a pistol, which is withing my price range and is VR I think, add a red-dot (scarce). That's it for now, though If I do have it, doubt the escort has it on her, so may be not important right now and/or something to be acquired in game?
Just going through profile, seems I need to still add faith talents, will do that ASAP, I just put off working on this PC from lack of feedback, but I'm still around and would love to join if you'll have me and it works.

Not particularly now, Jasmine is interested in the garden and wanted to learn more about it before visiting, so she failed the test, but depending on the difficulty etc, she might find something. Other stuff was questions I'd asked, but not too big a deal, just thought I'd say something before it got worse. Anyways, you're doing fine so far, but I understand with many different players it's hard.

So Who's Who So Far:
Lanus Cisten: a scholar of Haarlock's legend. Here within the House of Ash and Dust he's a minnow among sharks.
Whent: Cisten's valet. He was apparently overcome by a fit (psychic attack?) earlier today.
Vymer and Quill: Two thuggish toughs, possibly hitmen.
Ocatvia Nile: A vivacious young woman, who seems keenly interested in the other attendees.
Abbot Tamas: A rather unpleasant monk.
Hiram Bland: The Imperium's factorum here.
Locutor Mayweather: Your very nervous contact.
Master Nonesuch: Bland and personable, was he the man in gray who seemed to quail the incorporeal being that attacked Whent?
Babd Ra: An Eldar Seeress who openly admits to serving the Crow Spirit corsairs.
A cast of thousands!

Thanks, that helped me too :)
