All right then folks. Here's one I've wanted to run for a long, long time. The one, the only, the first, Rise of The Runelords. And now that I hold the beautifully remastered version in my hands I'm opening recruitment to all those with sound bodies or minds and adventure in their souls to save the village of Sandpoint, and eventually, perhaps the world.

Houserules:
Banned List:(Note that this is not a comprehensive list, and some other things may be banned. I reserve my DM right to ban any item I choose at any time I choose.)
Wild Rager Archetype
Rage Cycling (Barbarians, even those immune to fatigue, must wait twice as long as they were in rage to enter it again)
Synthesist Archetype*
Master Summoner Archetype
Antagonize Feat
Clustered Shots Feat
Falcata

* This one is more (The cheese that usually goes with Synthesist. Show me one that isn't complete and utter powergaming (i.e. One that doesn't drop every physical stat to dirt, or jump towards pounce as fast as he can) and I'll probably quite like it.

Combat should be dynamic and flowing, thus you may move up to half your speed and still make a full attack.
Power Attack, Combat Expertise and Lunge are combat options. Anyone with STR 13 or higher may Power Attack. Anyone with DEX or INT 13 or higher may use CE. Anyone with a BAB of more than 6 may make Lunge attacks.
Combat Maneuvers provoke Attacks of Opportunity only with a failure, not with the attempt.
Vital Strike is a single feat that scales.
Weapon Finesse/Agile Manuevers are Options of Finessable Weapons and no longer feats.
Dervish Dance is replaced by Expert Strikes. Expert Strikes is a feat requiring a BAB of +4 which allows you to add your DEX bonus instead of STR bonus to damage for Finessable Weapons.
Weapon Proficiency is a trait. Using a Feat on Weapon Proficiency gains you Proficiency in 2 weapons.
Vital Strike is an attack action which can be combined with any other such action (i.e. Charging, Spring Attack, Cleave).
Lances Do not deal double damage on a charge, only +5 damage.
Characters gains 1 point buy every level, replacing the one attribute point every 4 levels. Points beyond 18 cost an amount of points equal to the resulting modifier (19 = 4, 20-21=5, 22-23=6 etc.)
Paladins not required to be Lawful, only Good. Still held to code though.

Character Requirements:
15 Point Buy
3 Traits (1 Campaign)
All Core Paizo Material Allowed (CRB, APG, UM, UC)
Most Paizo Splatbooks Allowed (___ of Golarion, Adventurer's Armory, Others with DM Approval)
Third Party Material subject to DM Approval. (Super Genius is generally balanced and creative.)
1 Backstory
1 Reason for being in Sandpoint during the Swallowtail Festival (Chance, Local, Religious Leanings, etc.)
1 Description of Your Character as seen by a stranger.
No Evil Alignments (I want Heroes. Even if they aren't the best of heroes.)

Recruitment will stay open for 2 weeks. 5 Characters will be chosen. Those who get a character approved may begin to roleplay the day of the Swallowtail Festival in Sandpoint. Roleplaying does not guarantee a spot by any means but it generally increases your chances as it will give me a better insight into your playstyle.

Notes on Style:
I don't particularly like characters with terrible drama ridden backstories. Bad things happen to people and it can be interesting to be a terror magnet but it's overplayed. Mix some happy in with your sad.

Don't be a lone wolf who's going to ask why he/she is with the party. If I can't see you getting along you won't be chosen. The party doesn't have to agree on everything but compromise is essential.

I prefer longer, more in-depth and descriptive or interesting posts less often than one tiny post every day, therefore my only posting limit will be at least twice a week. I'd like more posting than that but I will value quality way over quantity.

My campaigns tend to focus on character and party interactions. Conversations will happen and sometimes a bit of time may go by without combat or skills and just with roleplaying and conversations. If that doesn't sound like any fun to you then keep moving along.

I like cinematic combats and interesting descriptions. If you miss the goblin, don't just say you missed. Describe your arrow sailing near and thunking into the water barrel. Or your hammer arcing over your head but being off center because you were out of breath from the slash you took earlier. Just be a little interesting. It makes things better.

All right boys and girls, let the submissions roll in.

Dotting.

Just a quick question, any chance you'll allow the Words of Power subsystem? I've been wanting to play with it and I have a character concept that I want to use with it, but I can always thing of something else if the answer is no.

I really think that system needs a lot of work to be viable and don't have the kind of time/patience to make it work. Sorry Adam.

Hmm, Paladins of any good alignment? I smell a Paladin of Cayden Cailean coming up. Awesome. Human Paladin of Cayden Cailean, will have posted sometime tommorow

Ryuko wrote:

Like I said, It's cool. I still want to play, I'll just have to think of something else. :)

Great to see you back Ryuko! Real life finally released its steely claws on you?

Anyways, I will just submit a standard character shortly. Cheers!

Now, since I'm not a real big fan of the Synthesist anyway, may I be so bold as to ask to play a Fleshbinder?

I'll submit Thandion. He was prepared for another gm so i'll alter him for your house rules and edit the background which i'm not happy with yet. However this should give you an idea for now.Note I am running this ap for a hime group but will be careful about spoilers.

I've an idea to make an alchemist who works at the Glassworks. Viable from a roleplaying perspective? I'll put more thought into the idea once I've slept.

I've always wanted to play an actual Pathfinder setting game, though I've never found one before. Play by post is something that I haven't done in a while, but I think that I can manage it. My only problem is that I have ideas for three different characters: Varisian rogue knife master, Chelaxian Necromancer (Lawful Neutral, not evil), or a half-elf cleric of Sarenrae. I'm not sure what the protocol is here - should I submit them all or is that considered rude to the other people who will be submitting their own? I would only play one of them at any rate. I'll just get to work on each one for now - can't have too many 1st level character sheets.

One Question: I'm not familiar with the Campaign Traits for this. Where can I find them to look them over?

Presenting Dairkal, the halfling gleeman whose settled down in Sandpoint about a month or so before Festival.

Will change up stats n such if chosen.

Dotting for interest. Like the house rules and love the style description.

i'd be interested playing a bard of some sort. still working on a little concept here but I'll try to put something together soon.

I enjoy social playful/flirty characters.

any restriction on races from the ARG?

I like the fleshbinder. Throw something together and I'll look it over, though I'm a much biggee fan of eidolon centered summoners over those that summon a lot (thus the banning of Master Summoner)

Quick question, what is our starting cash?

Ah, always forget that. Average starting cash.

okay thank you. trying to figure out the best way to do what I want.

For consideration, Talon Eldercourt, need to modify the crunch.

Thank you. I'll start working on a submission now.

Campaign traits can be found HERE, along with a bunch of stuff for character creation.

First, it seems obvious that a player can save points from level to level, but you didn't specify that; is that the case? Second, how does this interact with racial stat bonuses/penalties? That is, if e.g. an elf puts 5 points into CON initially for a final CON score of 12, do they pay one stat point to go from 12 to 13, or two stat points to go from 14-2 to 15-2? On the flip side, if the same elf has put 2 points into DEX initially for a final DEX score of 14 and they want to improve it, do they pay two stat points to go from 14 to 15, or one stat point to go from 12+2 to 13+2?

I would like to submit a Cleric or Inquisitor of Abadar. His reasons for being in Sandpoint would revolve around the church in Magnamar wanting to justify the expense of investing in this new cathedral. He will have overseen expenditures on the cathedral during construction as well as travelled the area promoting commerce and civilization. He will have had a secondary mission as well, investigating the circumstances of the 'recent unpleasantness' with an eye toward keeping these tragedies from spreading beyond the local level. He will be a 'Sherlock' like detective with an absentminded devotion to his work.

I will stat something up today and post.

Aloys Deverin is a half elven hexcrafter magus, that uses either a whip or a rapier. I have to transfer the crunch and background to the profile and I'll be prepared. He is in Sandpoint to visit his cousin Kendra Deverin and enjoy the Swallowtail Festival as the devout Desnan he is.

Crunch is done. Tomorrow I'll post the background.

Here is a link to my basic human fighter. Crunch and fluff are up. I need to tweak his appearance.

Question, how much money do we start with?

Scroll about 3/4's of the way down the page. There's a table with all of the starting cash values for all of the classes.

Are the Weapon Prof. traits considered Combat Traits? I assume they would be, given that weapons are used primarily for combat.

Interesting.

I like the notes on style. I have mixed feelings about the house rules (at least partially because I'm POSITIVE I'll forget something I should know/need . . .).

This profile includes a 15 point buy and 3 trait modified version for a character created specifically for an earlier advertisement for this AP.

Crunch and Backstory are finished. Meet Kyras Blackquill, Cleric of Pharasma. Hopefully, he'll have a place here.

Ok, I've updated Thandion for your rules. His backstory does have a moment of over the top drama (or sadness). While he is certainly influenced by that he is too focused on the here and now to be too sad. I see his arc in the story going towards more and more happiness as he finds redemption. Let me know if there are in problems.

As mentioned before I am running this AP for home group currently if that a problem (I am an experienced roleplayer and quite capible of keeping IC and OOC information seperate).

Dotting for interest. I love the look of your house rules and wanted to get through a RotRl for a while.

Would you allow Open Design's New Paths - Expanded Spelless Ranger for a class and supplement material? It's OGL, but I don't think it's gotten up on d20pfsrd yet though :(

I'd love to run in this. I'd like to submit this ranger. I am sure I am missing information since I did it all by hand, if you're interested in having me I can take care of the rest immediately.

Hmm... hoping that'll turn out awesome, I'm a big fan of the Drunken God.

For the moment yes. Tends to be nice not having to be screwed by life at every turn.

I'd be happy to be your first. You can look up the Campaign Traits in the Player's Companion, which is a good read to get to know the campaign and it's world anyway. I'd think you might want to do the Cleric or Necromancer since we seem to have plenty of Rogues already. Up to you though.

Players are of course free to save points between levels (we call it banking in my group). Once the characters stats are finalized after creation those are the stats used for all future buying of points. So in your example if the elf put two pints into DEX to earn a 12, which then gets up to 14 by racial bonuses he then must spend 2 points to raise it one point, then 3 to raise it to 16 for the bonus.

They're their own category without the restriction on one trait per category.

You'd have to send it to me or something so that I could tell whether I wanted to allow it or not.

@Talon, @Dairkal. Fancy seeing you here :)

For you consideration. I've a bit of re-crunch to do for the house rules (free Power Attack - yah! lower stat-points, yipe!), but the backstory is in place.

CHADRON Bierce LAND

Chadron is a brawny, strapping Varisian lad. Despite his large frame, the armor he normally carries by wearing, and the several weapons strapped about him, his demeanor is pleasant and open - if sometimes a bit brash. Chadron's dark auburn hair, brown eyes, and olive complexion mark his Varisian heritage. His full, medium length, squared-off beard reflect a more rural sensibility. But despite the simple functionality of his clothes, several signs hint at ongoing Varisian connections - a bright orange belt sash, a small gold earring, a gold chain on his left wrist, and light embroidery at cuff and collar of his tunic.

Chaldron's got a smile and a handshake for everyone he meets. He also persists in assuming that everyone he meets is a friend he just isn't well acquainted with yet.

Background: Overview:

Chadron was raised as a dirt-scrabble farmer in the Bloodsworn Vale, on the border with Cheliax. Chadron turns out to be quite a good farmer, brawny and hardy. But throughout his life he has yearned for more. He drilled and patrolled with the local militia. He gained an opportunity to learn some real horsemanship, beyond what a down-at-heel farmer normally has opportunity for. He equipped himself. He listened, and he learned.

When he came of age, and his younger sister married another member of the militia (one from a large family), Chadron took an opportunity to cash out of the farm, finish equipping himself, and set out into the world. He has heard rumors of giants stirring in the hills, goblins and strange monsters in Sandpoint. Chadron has made his way to Sandpoint.

But don't misread. Chadron is in it for the after-adventure drinks. Magic is good. Gold is good. Glory is great. But mostly because glory makes the drinks flow, the lads tell tales, and the ladies very friendly.

Background: Early Lessons:

The 7-year-old Chadron blinked back tears as his mother, Marduet, washed dirt from the scrapes on his face. "Yes Chadron, Garghad did call you a dirty Varisian thief. And that was wrong. I know you're big for your age, but Garghad is three years older than you, and he was fathered by a back country orc. It was unwise to attack him. It tarnished the spirit of this barn raising for Garghad's family. Between now and harvest, your father and I want you to find a way to work with him - even make him your friend. His mother and stepfather, though Chelish, are neighbors in the Vale. Now go and shake his hand while I prepare some of our Valisian dances for tonight."

At the next harvest, Chadron convinced Neila, Garghad's mother, to dragoon Garghad and Chadron into helping him set up games for the feast day. For the younger men, they organized wrestling, axe-tossing, and running races. For the younger children, egg relays and three-legged races. Though Garghad was initially reluctant, working together to lay out courses, gather materials, and set sign-ups brought a level of mutual respect. Chadron lost a wrestling match with Garghad, but he did win a pat on the back from his father, and a warm, knowing smile from his mother.

Background: Armor, a mule for some armor!:

Chadron remonstrated with his father. Eccelsron Land was a more mature version of his strapping son. Dark auburn hair framed a a dark-skinned square face and deep brown eyes. His chest deep, his shoulders broad, many mistook him for a smith. But his strength came from years of hard farming - pulling tree stumps, ploughing fields, wielding a scythe at harvest - along with, as for many men in the Bloodsworn Vale, occasional sword and spear practice with the Vale Militia. Eccelsron looked aside at his wife, Marduet. Marduet was still willowy, with classic Varisian features and long, jet black hair. She met his gaze.

"Chadron, you're asking us to trade the mule for a suit of armor, solely so you can take leave the Vale." Chadron drew breath to interrupt, but Eccelsron gently held up his hand. "I know it is the way of our people to find a life on the roads - but a weighty and expensive suit of scale mail is not part of that tradition. In the militia we hold armor and weapons to defend the people of Bloodsworn Vale. We don't own these things in our own right. and... the mule?"

Chadron said, "Father, we both know the militia needs pack animals. And when the militia needs them, you'll be with the militia anyway. You won't be pulling stumps while chasing marauding orcs from the Vale. We also both know the militia will loan you back the mule when stumps need pulling." Chadron drew a deep breath, "You know I've been preparing for years to take to the road - and on my own terms. Both mother and Aunt Geselle have seen that there is something for me on the Lost Coast. Loenet has married Greigor, and they can help work the farm here. Father, let me find my road."

"It is in the Harrows," said Marduet gently. "The Harrows said nothing about my mule!" harumphed Eccelsron. The gleam in his eye made first Marduet, then Chadron chuckle. Then as the stern set of Eccelsron's expression cracked, they all burst out laughing.

Background: The Road West:

Chadron grinned at Kevan as the older man prepared to mount. Chadron said, "It has been a great pleasure, 'uncle'," (though Kevan was not his uncle, but instead a distant cousin). Kevan replied, "I look forward to next time we travel the same road. You're certain your road lies further west? Grandmother says there are omens of conflict there - ancient conflicts awakened anew."

"Yes uncle, my road leads that way. Your caravan follows safer ways, living off the land and the rubes."

Chadron watched the caravan head north from Ilsurian. He reflected briefly on the road so far. From his home in the Bloodsworn Vale, he walked out of the Vale to the city of Korvosa. From his sheltered life in the the Bloodsworn Vale, Korvosa seemed an unimaginably complex place, full of rules and taxes and harsh enforcements. Chadron's first strong impression, as he entered the Eodred's Walk, was a city executioner removing a thief's hand, then branding a unionist. Chadron found that his olive complexion and even his (relatively) subdued traveling clothes marked him as a 'moth' - a Varisian, and inherently suspect. He rapidly found an exit from Korvosa.

Chadron quickly found a berth on a short-hopping coast-lugger. Although his clothes and accent - and the family tattooes on his shoulders once he'd taken off his shirt - marked him out as Varision, his fellow crewmen on the Targon's Landing were no two alike. Chadron's natural lugubriousness, good cheer, and willingness to work hard soon put him in good stead with the crew - despite his utter lack of experience as a sailor. Chadron crewed with the Targon's Landing as far as Palin's Cove. A few weeks on the sea gave him opportunity to truly appreciate the novel experience. Chadron didn't find sailing unpleasant, but he'd had enough to understand that there was no brine in his blood.

From Palin's Cove Chadron walked north to Baslwief. In Baslwief, Chadron encountered Kevan and his Varisian caravan of entertainers. After establishing bone fides and extended family relationships, Chadron found a place in the caravan. Although not an entertainer, and not a fortune teller, Chadron worked hard setting up and tearing down, and kept good order among the patrons. His positive attitude and comeraderie helped speed the work, and ease tensions with the audiences. Chadron found himself sometimes at odds with his Varisian comrades in their disdain of the farmers and townsfolk - but he also came to experience the locals' prejudice and disrespect of the Varisians.

Kevan's caravan made a meandering way across the plains and through the Ashwood. During the several weeks, Chadron came to appreciate the way of the People of the Road in ways not available to him in the Bloodsworn Vale. Chadron's fathers' family had taken several generations rest from the road, but his mother's Cardren clan was in the world. North of Biston, Kevan's caravan encountered another Varisian caravan that counted clan Cardren among its members. Family shawls - kapenia - were compared. Tales were exchanged. Although Chadron's presence was cause for celebration, the centerpiece of the meeting of the caravans was a wedding between one of Kevan's nieces and a member of the Cardren clan.

With only a day's preparation, Chadron scrambled for a wedding gift. He eventually bargained with a local farmer for two sacks of fine ground flour, and a butterfly (symbol of Desna) of woven grain sheafs. Though not as colorful, as spectacular, as many of the Varisian wedding gifts, the couple praised their practicality and the representation of the pastoral Land families. The Grandmother of Kevan's caravan said later, "I have never seen one of Desna's butterflies in the golds and browns of grain. It is unusual, but kindly you to invoke the Goddess's blessing. It augurs," with a slight emphasis, "for a fruitful, progressive, and happy marriage. Thank you."

Shaking off his revery, Chadron idly rubbed his two newest tattoos - a golden butterfly clinging to a family vine between his left shoulder and pectoral, and opposite, below his right shoulder, a blooming sunflower in a wagon wheel. As he set off toward the road to Whistledown, he called to a passing merchant, "Friend - I'm headed to points west - shall we walk together?"

Dotting for interest. I've got a concept for an Oracle of Metal that I think I'll write up for this.

I'm planning on going Varisian or Elvish, but I am curious what you're allowing from the ARG.

Crunch is done, so I give you Talliree Yndercook, gnome sorceress and aspiring goblin-slayer.

Still working on the flavor, but it's got all of the relevant points there, except for the reason she's in Sandpoint. I'll have it finished up tonight, along with what she looks like.

Looks mostly good but one issue. Taking Proficiency in the bastard sword would have been the equivalent of getting Martial Proficiency (Since as a Sorceress she wouldn't have even that) meaning you'd have to spend another trait on it if you wanted to use it one handed.

As for the ARG, I'm pretty open to it. I dislike the more exotic races (basically the first 2 sections are ok) and I allow racial archetypes to be taken by anyone unless it's the sort of thing that literally only works for that race.

Chadron, fancy seeing you here, I was James in the other.

@ryuko: why james, how your horns have grown. good on ya for kicking one off :)

I see you picked up on Tierce's pre-selection warmup activity. That seemed like a fine thing. So... where's the bar? My last incarnation was hijaacked by a GM that liked the character more than the player ;) Though at least I got to finish my drink and get out of my armor before the shooting started.

Urmm... what's up with the psychopathic goblin-murdelizing gnomes? Ms. Yndercook looks to give Blix a run for the goblin-berserker prize.

No problems. I'll edit that. She'll be a little underpowered in the magic department, but I think what I have planned should make up for that.

You can get that started right here, I don't need another inactive campaign on here after this lol, so just go ahead and get it started if you like, though it's not confined to only the bar this time.

Chadron strode into town, across the narrow bridge and under the town wall. It was crowded and busy - though he could see a plume of dust at the north gate that seemed to indicate even more activity than here.

It was early afternoon, and Chadron was fairly hungry. He hadn't bothered to restart his campfire this morning and had had only some stale cold bread before pushing on to Sandpoint.

'So - first things first, a bite to eat and some news,' he thought. So determined, Chadron swung rapidly past the docks and warehouses on his left, 'Not fish stew - definitely not,' he angled further north and west. While underway, he noticed a well-dressed and handsome Varisian (@Gudada) - not unlike Chadron himself, though slimmer and more brightly dressed - working the opposite end of the street. Chadron slid around the crowd, not drawing attention. He didn't want to foul the man's operation. Chadron also became very aware that he was carrying all of his worldly possessions on his back - and he checked them briefly to ensure they were all there. 'Perhaps later I'll introduce myself, see if there are any other People of the Road in town. But for the moment, he's working, and I'm still hungry...'

'Ah! that's the one! he thought, catching a delectable odor of roast lamb from a shop on the right, just two doors down from a theater of some kind. In the small restaurant's outdoor seating, an energetic halfling was working the patrons with a juggling act that was really quite good. Chadron stepped inside the restaurant, exclaiming, "Ah! that's the one!" He engaged the halfling proprieter briefly, and took some sliced lamb, potatoes, salad, and beer ("quite a good local brewery" advised the owner) to one of the outside tables.

Chadron angled himself into the smallish seating (not just the jongelier, but also the proprieter were both halflings). He settled pack, bow, spear, and sheild against the outside wall of the restaurant - away from the street. Once situated, Chadron watched the juggler a bit, and the sweep of people on the street. He noted the same Varisian he'd seen earler, 'if I'm not misremembering, there weren't as many pouches on his belt earler..'.

As the juggler made his way around towards him, Chadron invited, "Friend juggler, your work looks thirsty. Can I invite you to some drink and a conversation while I finish this excellent lamb?"

@Gudada - OK, I know Gudada wouldn't actually have a lifted purse on his belt. but it makes a good story.
@Dairkal - I'm making the brash presumption you would be OK with picking up some tips at a halfling establishment near the theater - please correct as required.
@Talliree - I hope it's not stereotyping (or typecasting?) to imagine Talliree on or near the scene somewhere. In fact, it was 'Yndercook' that started me thinking about a halfling restaurant...

Ryuko, any interest in my ranger?

Grand Lodge

Aroach here with my paladin of the lucky drunk

Backstory:

Storm was raised by his parents who owned a tavern in Magnimar, as such he spent his whole life around alcoholic drinks, and would take a quick swig every now and again when no one was looking. He loved drinking, and readily participated in any kind of drinking game within his parents tavern. He started learning how to use a sword correctly from his grandfather, an old guard who was known for his skills with a Rapier. The combination of his Rapier skill and love for drinking led him many times to a local shrine to the Lucky Drunk, and Storm found many of his views aligned with Cayden Cailean's views. He hated the concept of one man holding power over another, and also loved drinking. He swore one day to uphold these two beliefs in the name of The Drunken Hero. He currently spends his time doing mercenary work out of Sandpoint, and he constantly finds himself fighting goblins and Chelaxian slavers in the name of Cayden Cailean.

Any feedback is welcome, let me know if you have any questions

As the merchant’s wagon rolled into Sandpoint Thandion smiled and shook the hand of man next him then pocketed the couple of coins offered. Home again, if I can claim it as home. Jumping down and with a flick of his fingers the dust and dirt falls his clothes, after a quick look of his surroundings he starts off down the street. What am I going to say to her, what can I possibly say to explain?

While lost in his thoughts a boy jumps out from between two houses and run across the road, by the time the girl following jumped out Thandion had his sword in his hands. Seeing Seeing the look in the elf’s eyes and sword in the hand she freezes and screams.

The scream breaks into his thoughts. What am I doing? Dropping the sword in revulsion it clangs off the cobble stones and the girl runs off. I am I going to draw my weapon at each bump in the night? How long until I make things worse? I’ve got to get rid of this before I lose control again. He bends down to get his sword and sheathing it turns the way he came and heads back towards Savah's Armory.

A minute later he emerges from the Armory with and empty scabbard and a slightly fuller purse. Smelling the aroma of cooking lamb and the sounds of people enjoying themselves his path curves to bring him to small restaurant. After ordering a drink and some food he looks carefully around, not seeing any familiar faces he approaches a smiling young Varisian man sitting by halfling. ”Do you mind if I sit with you? This place seems quite busy and they seem to have run out of spare tables.” Thandion has the song like quality of elvish accent which is a little off putting given the general gruffness of his looks.

@Chadron - hope you don't mind me pushing in on your conversation

"Please - it's a lovely day to sit out and swap stories. I see you're as travel worn as I feel - and as freighted with kit." Chadron looks briefly at the empty scabbard, hesitates for perceptible second, then carries on, "At the moment my tales are days old and many miles from useful. I was hoping to trade some drinks and fellowship with our talented local jonglier in exchange for some local background color," Chadron drew breath, "My name is Chadron, from just east of Korvosa. I've been sometime underway, but it appears I've run out of westbound road."

Chadron pushes back a chair, gestures grandly, and says, "That's a very long-winded way of say 'Yes friend, set yourself and join us in fellowship," he chuckles briefly. "I may have been a day or two too long on the road without company. Hah!" And he takes a long draft of his beer.

"By the way - good beer. Local, says the proprieter." Chadron beams at his two new-found companions.

Done!

@ Chardon: No not at all, but I gotta get to bed. It's almost 1 AM here, so Talliree is going to be a bit late joining in the fun.
P.S. The reason I come up with behind the name is that the family has a lot of sorcerers in the line, even before Ishmael received the Draconic bloodline for his help, so there was an old saying that ended with "'En, yer cook!" (And then you're cooked), so Yndercook (Pronounced Ender-cook).

Ryoko - Is Rich Parents a valid trait for your campaign? The concept I have in mind is taking the Merchant Family trait as well. The character has grown up in the shops and business training, but learned (he feels) so much more out in the wilderness visiting and learning from his Varisian fortune-teller grandmother and the wanderers she travels with.

I'm looking at Harrow Born, Merchant Family and Rich Parents as the traits.

Also, what would Juggling as an entertainment fall under? Profession or Perform?

This character is a dwarf ranger from a now-defunct PbP campaign. I think I have everything updated except equipment.

Here's some background:
Moving with preternatural silence for one so broad and squat, the dwarf slid from outcrop to outcrop through the deep tunnel below Janderhoff, intent on the back of the hooded figure walking slowly in front of him. Every time the figure paused to look back, though, there was nothing to be seen—the dwarf’s senses were keyed to such a high pitch that he was able to anticipate the movement and conceal himself from direct view. As the figure halted before a stone door, the dwarf saw his chance. A handaxe was raised, then came down on the head of the hooded figure…in a gentle tap. The figure spun, revealing itself as another dwarf. The first laughed. "So, Master Morthos. How was that?"

The second dwarf nodded. "Adequate, Thorfinn, and more. You’ve passed. Though I spotted your boot once six minutes ago, just before Ursio’s gladdringgar. I didn’t see or hear you again until you tapped me, though. Don’t look like that!" For Thorfinn’s face had fallen at Morthos’ words. The older dwarf went on, "I know you too well, Feigrsson. Someday you’ll be skilled enough to match me, but you’ll have to go elsewhere first—I’ve taught you all I can. Now, let’s get back above before they send the wardens down after us. There’s a tun of ale with our names on it!"

The pair went back the way they had come, eventually reaching the base of one of the Deep Stairs, where they were allowed to reenter the city after a close inspection and questioning by the guards there. Little of speech had passed between the two of them since their exchange below, but Morthos could tell from his pupil’s silence that much weighed on his mind. Finally the older dwarf broke the silence. "Where were you thinking of going, now that you’ve passed my last test? Any of our cities would take one such as yourself, without a second thought."

Thorfinn shook his head, not noticing Morthos’ lack of surprise. "Few indeed are the giants to be found in these places, Master. I’m for the lands under Sky; rumor has it that the town of Sandpoint is plagued by giants, and if rumor speaks false—" He shrugs. "—I’m no worse off than I am here, and perhaps I might hear more once there. There are a few of our people there I can speak with. And after what happened to my father and his brothers, well, I would carve my gladdringgar on the face of every giant I meet. With my axe."

Morthos clapped him on the shoulder before opening the door to his apartments. "Seems a fine enough plan to me. TORRA! Ale, my wife! Ale for Thorfinn Feigrsson, Journeyman Ranger!"

He did not depart until late the next day.

Appearance:
Thorfinn is in many ways a typical dwarf, though perhaps a bit less well-muscled than some. He's burly, with knotted ropes of muscle in his arms and torso and scars on his arms and face. His red beard is simply braided, and his clothing and armor is functional and well-made.

I am submitting Duilure for approval. This is my first time to try a play by post game.
